Guest Reviews
- Greggory (4/5): - Property was in a state of aging and lack of upkeep. Air conditioner worked but loud. shower stall leaked across floor. Pool closed on first door and then later opened. Area down the hill very busy and crowded at night with confusing one ways and street guards. Basic place for locals (one night) but not much for foreigners. Hotel that is past its prime and used by some locals for work stay.
- Randy (8/5): - The chairs by the pool were pretty worn down.
- Virgie (4/5): - Property not value for money. Poor cleanliness. With mice and cockroaches. Shower are not safe. Buffet food are not good. They should maintain the hotel if they want guests to stay. Not recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Went there for a convention, there were puddles and leaks from the ceiling due to the rains.
- clayton (10/5): - The property is up on a hill offering great view of the town/harbor. The hotel is a little older but very clean with spacious rooms that are quiet. Shower is spacious with excellent water pressure. The food selection at breakfast was great and tasty as well as dinner at the Forest Grill was excellent and very delicious. Staff is friendly and excellent customer service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Always a great place to stay in Mariveles - We booked several rooms for 1-2 nights. The room and bed sizes had always been exceptional and are priced relatively reasonable although slightly on the higher side if you consider the location. The hotel is a bit dated and rooms / amenities would need to be improved, i.e. gym - not sure if equipment are working and it does not look to be maintained, the rooms and bathrooms are clean but fixtures are not maintained well (bidet in our bathroom worked but you needed to flush to turn it off...it won't turn off if you depress). Buffet menu, apparently, is now subject to guests booked so if there happens to be less for a day then you are asked to choose from a set menu (single serving!) which we felt was not really fair.
- Jack (10/5): - Staff was excellent. I rated the room fair because there was soap scum in the shower and one of the table lamps plastic switch was broken and could cause a shock hazard. Also the patio was filthy (see photo) and outside second floor looking over the pool, the wood was rotten and nails were export. The breakfast was adequate. The pancit canton at the outside restaurant was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - Nice place, clean, good food and good service. Only the pool is not available. This hotel is good if you want to unwind and to chill out.
- Mark (6/5): - Probably one of the better places to stay in Bataan, however the hotel is now dated and has little investment for some time. Whilst our room and bathroom were clean and provided a good stay.. the overwhelming feeling is one of faded grandeur. Peeling paint, broken light switches, the pool os green and cloudy..not clean and blue. Breakfast was ok, but limited menu. Staff around the hotel offering good friendly service, trying hard to raise this old lady of a hotel from the grave.
- Jesse (4/5): - Used to love staying but currently hotel was not unkept, pool was dirty with tiles that can cause cuts
- ARSENIO MENDOZA (4/5): - I need to check out early so I can go get my required COVID 19 RT PCR TEST for my return to the US, credit was not given and no receipt of my stay. Reason: booking was made online. Complimentary coffee- 2package and 1 little bar soap for the whole stay. Exhaust Blower in bathroom very noisy. Dissapointed. Never again...
- Derek (10/5): - It was a wonderful place to stay. Nice views of the bay. Great food. Good amenities. Wifi internet was a bit lacking.
- Christopher (10/5): - This is a relaxing and quiet property up on a hill. There’s a lovely view from the terrace. The spa is small but provides high quality service. The central restaurant is beautifully decorated, but I’ve had more lavish spreads at other Oriental properties. There is not much sightseeing in the area, so come if you want to just unwind, swim in the pool, and get a massage.
- Verified traveler (8/5): おおよそ満足です - 設備的には少し古いものの満足ですが、レストランの品切れの多さや料理が出てくるのが遅いのが気になった。
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were amazing!!! We made some request that we thought they could not deliver but they did. The only thing that I am not satisfied is there pillow, it had a hard cover and should not be intended to use for sleeping. Those pillows look like throw pillows only. But they only had 1 soft pillow per guest. Requesting for additional soft pillow will run you 200 pesos each
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This place is deteriorating due to lack of maintenance.
- Douglas (6/5): - The hotel really was wonderful however the property appears to have no maintenance, upon arrival the room safe did not work the refrigerator did not chill even water, the air cons grill was broken. The staff was apologetic and they fixed what they could but it just seemed this could be taken care of prior to arrival of customer. The food layout was wonderful. We did arrange for their spa services but when arriving for our appointment the appointment was never booked, they offered services but had only one massagist to accommodate so they did not have an opening until 9 pm we thought despite confusion this could have been avoided by bringing in another massage assistant. Over all grade is fair for price.
- Julianne Cyrose (10/5): The Oriental Bataan Experience - It was really a nice and cozy place at an affordable booking price. The location was just only too far. We travelled from Manila to Mariveles for 5 hours by bus and rode a tricycle to the hotel. There are no near convenience stores around the area of the property but they are offering a free shuttle service until 12 midnight if you want to go out. The personnels were all accomodating. Food was pricey but tasted good. We loved the free breakfast buffet that came with our booking. The room is clean and comfortable. My friends and I had a great staycation experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We arrived last June1 2019 at 2pm for overnight the only thing that we cant forget was the person who assissted us on our way to our room.He was very accomodating.and helpful to a customer like us unfortunately i forget his name He will he a good asset not only for his attitude but also for his ready smile abd looks
- Verified traveler (10/5): - love the locations, staffs,
Improvements:
Foods selection
towels
pillows
- Cesar (4/5): Worst stay in Philippines - Uncomfortable stay. So noisy even at late night. People were playing billiards, Wooden football. We asked the people at the front desk to address our complain, but they did nothing. Even during our breakfast, kids were moving around with their bikes at the restaurant, but nobody stop this boy! Sad to say we had to leave this hotel...Never again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good side: The bed was marvelous. The room is very spacious. Five people can move around the room. The food we had on breakfast was very good. Air conditioning was good too. The price of the room for five people was good and the internet connection inside the room is good as well. Staff was very helpful and they had nice service. Over all, Oriental Bataan Hotel was a nice hotel to book to.
Downside: We took the shortcut way from Bagac to Mariveles but to our surprise, the road is still under construction, so we had a bumpy ride. Housekeeping needs improvement. Bathroom was not that clean. Some areas are outdated. We experienced power interruptions.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Overall the place is amazing except for the aircon, the room wasn’t cold enough. We all slept without blankets 😶 Breakfast buffet is great as there are so many choices! 😀
- Edward (6/5): Excellent Service, great food, worn down hotel - A nice place considering the area. The staff were amazing. I recommend the Spa for an affordable massage.
- Edward (6/5): Great service, tired hotel. - Service was exceptional, food was good, hotel was worn down.
- Edward (6/5): Great Service, great food, but worn-down hotel - The hotel was tired, but was fitting for the area. The staff are amazing and always polite and willing to help. Keep in mind that the Philippines does not have the same pace of service as the US though (much more relaxed). Each night there is an exciting fire dance and show.
The buffets were above average, but I recommend the onsite Restaurant (The Cocoon) - very high quality gastronomy!
- Ronnel (8/5): Staff not properly trained - Over all was good
- Don (8/5): - Cozy and quaint, if you have business in the Mariveles or Bagac areas, you can't go wrong here. Unless you're headed to the new Bataan Convention Center, then you're right at home.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - All hotel staff were friendly, we were guide all the time to any query we had and approachable.
Couple room found cockroache, window lock not well secure, aircon is noisy and room smell very old furniture.
Kids room door had gap between door frame, where you can see dining area and good in term privacy. Toilet water heater not working and room smells old furniture.
Flies were present in dining area and should improve coffee quality.
Outside restaurant was a good set up, entertainment was great, service were excellent, nice ambiance, and reasonable price
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Enjoyed my last visit but saw how quality went down while rate went up. There is a daddy long legs in my room and a bottle of glass cleaner in the bathroom.
Fruit fly covered honey dew.
- Dave (10/5): - The stay was just fine and serves the purpose of our travel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great stay.. thank you for an excellent service! Keep it up!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the room was so dirty the carpet is dirty the bath room is dirty . the breakfast is not that much great.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent service, facilities and location. - Very impressed with the service and attention to guests by every member or level of the staff. Everyone sincerely provides a welcoming atmosphere and consideration for the question or request. I was traveling with my 84 year old mother which they acccomodated by providing a room at the first level so as not to have her go up and down the stairs. The variety and quality of the breakfast buffet is extensive and there is also a dinner buffet Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Excellent choices of dining and bars within the hotel and outside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I'd like to commend the staff. They are all courteous and very pleasant. On the other hand, it will be great if they could improve their check-in process. We arrived about 30 minutes earlier than our check-in time, it would have been better if they already offered us to fill out the form while waiting so that we could proceed directly to our room during the check-in time rather than wait for our check-in time before filling out the necessary forms. Overall we enjoyed our stay. I look forward to coming back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I will return
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed the bar but on and off electric power is so disappointing...,
- graham (10/5): thanks oriental for a great stay - Friendliest staff you could wish for, a hotel is a hotel the staff inside make or break your holiday, thank you very much for making our holiday memorable
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good stay but missed on a few items - Great service from the restaurant and good breakfast options. Slow check in and check out: front desk did not know that Deluxe Quad has double beds so we had to wait until they set up additional beds only to find out that the room has double beds. Also requested for a safe (they confirmed that it can be set up) which didn't materialize. Room was not made up, apparently you have to request for it
- CB (2/5): Never again - Check-in early (extra charge) ok fine. Need transportation, they will make you walk unless you want to wait for 20 minutes for their shuttle. Don't like the food and tell them about it (they make you pay even though you don't eat it and send it back). The food is probably the worst I have ever seen in all my hotel stays. The freshness....disaster. Brown lettuce on display, rotten vegetables on display, bread stale. It was like a museum of old food. disgusting. The team used old news papers to clean the tables? disgusting and unsanitary. I will never go back or recommend to anyone and too bad because I live here in Philippines and I wanted to have a trusty national hotel brand to patron during my national Philippines travel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great for a quite night - Very nice room very nice and not expensive and veay quit.
- Ollie (6/5): - There was no refrigerator in the room, some lights and electric plugs were not working. The bed was nice and comfy.
- Jeffrey (4/5): Disappointed - Too many mosquito in the room. Defective shower. We requested for laundry bag, but until checkout we have not received the bag. SPA is good though
- Jure (6/5): Good hotel in rugged area of Bataan - I was first shocked by the strong stench of chlorine when I entered my room, coming from the bathroom and spreading to the whole room. For that reason I didn't even want to try their swimming pool.
There was no basket in the bathroom, only in the room. The TV channels are not many.
The second disappointment was the wifi which was only sometimes working, slowly. It might not have been the hotel's fault, but the providor's.
There was a big breakfast buffet every morning, but with very limited vegetarian choices. The hotel's appearance in beautiful, Thai themed. The best thing about the hotel are the staff, who are very good.
They provide purified water all over the hotel. They offer free van transfer to the bus station.
- Adam (6/5): Poor Management - Staff at reception need to be more hospitable. I think they were only doing as there management instructed them. Hotel was empty, maybe 5% full, they placed us in the furthest room from pool, restaurant etc in the hotel. We have a 2 year old, had to walk massive corridor plus 2 flights of stairs. Plus we arrived early, no early check in either unless we pay 50% extra of room rate even though the room was ready. Also had to pay to get a better located room. Most staff were friendly though just needed a bit more training. Some restaurant staff did excell.
- Augustin (8/5): Pro and con - The hotel is a good place for relaxing. Nice swimming pool. Room is spacious and comfortable. WiFi in room 410 was terrible. Only near to the door ( within 1 meter) would get 2~3 bar signal. It kept disconnected. Still slow. There is no power plug near table.

- Toni (4/5): No cable channels, Wi-Fi almost none - I booked this hotel online and gave it to my son as a gift. They were disappointed that there are no cable channels, Wi-Fi is not accessible almost, restaurant food quite pricey, no entertainment at restaurants.
At least they find the staff courteous. Rooms are ok, but would have been better if they have bidet on the bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel, cleanliness should be improved - I saw insects in Cocoon. But other than that, the stay was good!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice stay
- Babu (4/5): Nothing much to do - Stinky toilet Room 110 even when after they made up the room always smelled like cat's poo
Small pool
Three restaurants one menu
Forest Grill resto is nice but opens only evenings
Free shuttle that can take you down from hilltop
