Guest Reviews
- Alan Derbyshire (10/5): Nice friendly staff - Nice friendy staff. Enjoyed my stay.
- Claudio (2/5): Da dimenticare - Ragni, zanzare e altri insetti in camera. Ragnatele ovunque...
- Karen (8/5): - The staff were excellent. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The room was bit dated/basic but I got very good price so happy and it was comfortable, warm and lovely view of church so suited me perfectly. I enjoyed the meal and local beer. Would stay again for basic overnight stay when working in area solo.
- Margaret (10/5): Wonderful quaint hotel - I love this hotel and have booked to go back on the 29th december.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff and food were good.
However, the bedroom 3 is very basic ( back to the 1950's ) and needs a revamp. Mildew around the shower compartment and cold tap needs maintenance. No bedside switch for lights .
Stained bed throw over
Stairs to bedroom not disabled friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner was very friendly, helpful & went above and beyond getting us food after hours.
- chris (8/5): lovely bnb - very nice location, they don't normally do breakfast but they left me some sandwiches in the fridge. Bar meals were very good and I enjoyed my one night stay
- Desmond (10/5): Very cosy comfy place to stay - Friendly warm welcome, friendly prompt efficient attentive staff, good beer, cosy atmosphere in the bar, cosy comfortable homely room, delicious big breakfast
- Tony (6/5): Night in Bangor - Booked this hotel as it was close t our friends who were having a party. Room was ok apart from dirty shower and also the size of the bathroom, if I had been any bigger I wouldn't have managed to get in the shower!
- Peter (8/5): sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis - Schön gelegenes Hotel mit Pub. Sehr hilfreiches Personal und sehr sympathischer Wirt/Gastgeber. Schöne Umgebung, saubere, nüchtern und einfach eingerichtete Zimmer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bed wss confortable but a shame the shower didnt work...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff helpful and friendly.
Bathroom in need of a good refurbishment and clean.
- Leigh (8/5): Wrexham Trip - I was there for one next, whilst visiting the Wales ComicCon in Wrexham University. I had stayed the previous night in a nearer hotel to the University and I was so let down by the quality of the hotel room. I wish that I had booked The Buck House for both nights. The staff were very helpful and the atmosphere was very warm and cosy; I had a lovely time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great staff - Couldn’t have been anymore welcoming and helpful. Home made pie was delicious.
- simon (10/5): Lovely place to stay - I was slightly embarrassed to discover that the hotel didn't have a 24 hr desk but our host was good enough to open up for us in the small hours.
The room was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and demolished with relish. Beautiful location as well - the sort of place to stay if you enjoy a walk in the countryside.
- Ian (8/5): A brief stay - Difficult to be objective as it was a brief, sleep-only one night stay but I encountered no problems
- John (6/5): - I knew The Buck from years ago as a pleasant and convenient inn in Bangor Isycoed. We've eaten and drunk there, but this was our first stay. Overall it was good value. The bedrooms and en suite are looking a bit tired though and could do with a serious spruce up. The service is very attentive and friendly. We did not eat their though. We were planning to have dinner there but the manager told us that they had a big party coming and the kitchen would be stretched so he suggested the Royal Oak nearby for dinner. and offered to book it too! That was very considerate.
- Doug (10/5): Never disappointing - Always made to feel welcome by not only the staff but the clientele, always a joy to spend some time at the Buck
- Verified traveler (8/5): Weekend at Buck House Hotel - Excellent stay. Staff very friendly. Food good quality/ value for money, and plenty of it. Rooms clean but a little ‘tired’
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel was on a quite street over looking the church, away from lots of road traffic..
A cobblestone bridge is to the right, sitting over the River Dee.Showing some of the areas history!.
A nice place to spend sometime...
- Royston (8/5): Nice country pub hotel - We choose Buck House as a country Inn near to Wrexham. It is very convenient for exploring the local area and in a pleasant situation near the River Dee. Being a pub hotel it was pleasantly lively and the pool table made a nice evenings diversion. Car parking was good.
- Ellen (8/5): Good food - The stay was comfortable. We had our evening meal there and food food was very good. Owner was very pleasant.
- Stephen (10/5): - Comfortable room with all the facilities we required
- Verified traveler (4/5): I wouldn't stay their again - The room was very small the bathroom well you couldn't even dry yourself in it as it was very very small and the shower had a lot of mould in it they also say house keeping was included but since when doesn't that include making the bed and only breakfast on the weekends not available week days over all not real good
- TBM (6/5): Hotel that is about 6 miles from Wrexham - Able to eat in the hotel. Village of Bangor on Dee is historic and attractive.
- Valerie (10/5): Little niggles ! - We found the Buck to be a very good hotel with a few silly niggles which we reported after our stay. The room was great, a little shabby re decor, we found the shower near impossible to get into as the doors would not slide , also the bathroom door would not slide closed without screeching! [ room 1]. other than this it was fine. Hopefully the owner has been in with a can of WD40 !!! So easy to sort. Also NO hairdryer !
We would go back.
- Phill (10/5): Fab hotel - Just a great good value small hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, bed too soft. Shower small. Food good. - We had a nice stay. Very generous food portions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Thumbs up - Reasonably priced hotel, with a comfy bed. Staff fantastic as was the food. Recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Don't trust the shuttle taxi to the racetrack
- MS (8/5): Lovely Welsh village - Lovely country setting, easy access to Wrexham and great restaurant and bar on site
- Francis (10/5): Short stay - Day out at horse racing, nice pub atmosphere in hotel.room clean, bed comfortable. Mini bus service to racecourse. Overall pleasant stay.
- Peter (4/5): - Very disapointed! I booked in here months ago and on arrival I was told that there was no room and that I had been transferred to Holt Lodge - no problem and on arrival at Holt Lodge I was given the Honeymoon Suite - and very nice it was. However I was still looking forward to staying at the Buck, so last week I had the oppertunity - what a disappointment! Check in was easy and quick, although when I told the male receptionist that I wouldn't have breakfast as I would be leaving before 7am there was no response, whilst many hotels, B&B's etc I have stayed at would reduce the price or offer a take away breakfast or a free drink, etc - nothing from the Buck. The room was small - not a problem as I was on my own, not modern and the furniture was dated and cheap. I settled down to catch up on paperwork - no seat at the dressing table. The bathroom was the smallest that I have ever had the displeasure of using! I opened the window and settled into a comfortable bed only to be disturbed by the church clock opposite which chimed every 15 minutes! And rang out hourly!! - No sleep! I stay away for over 100 nights per annum and I reckon the Buck is 30% to 50% overpriced!!
Nice Lounge, nice people and good food, however I won't be back at this price!
- Dallas (8/5): Nice country hotel, easy access to tourist sites. - Good location for stopover after picking up car at Holyhead. Parking secure and easy access to other tourist sites on the Dee River. Great local atmosphere in the bar and lounge with good food and drinks. Rooms quite comfortable and clean.
- Paul (4/5): - Very dated rooms, badly in need of renovation.
- Neil (8/5): Good Service - Didn't actually stay the night as business issue dragged me away early evening. Room was OK, not large but clean and everything worked. Bathroom a little small.
Staff really helpful, car parking good, bar looked OK for an evening.
Very typical of a hotel/pub.
- Michael (10/5): Would %100 stay again - The stay was nice , comfy and clean rooms and the surrounding are was lovely and quite and excellent food and hospitality
- Carl (8/5): - A very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Friendly and helpful staff, good food and a good selection of ales and spirits. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not helpful manageress - Had fight with shower cubical doors nightmare to open close, sower run cold, hot room when open window people talking smoking till early hours, no soap, or glasses to drink from, told manageress morning she just said sorry?????
- Chris (10/5): Buck stay - Very clean hotel,
- Jane (10/5): great value and location - Beautifully clean spacious rooms.buck house serves good food with a choice of 2 bars .position ideal for what we wanted, which was to be accessible to Llangollen.pretty village on a scenic river, ample parking
- ian (6/5): wont stay again because of noise from church - Previous occupants rubbish still in bin. Hospitality tray not cleaned or replenished sink not cleaned.however the staff were very good.
- julie (8/5): - This place was super cute, tucked away from the city in a small town. It was clean, comfortable, affordable and had a restaurant attached which served excellent food so we didn't need to travel anywhere for dinner. All very convenient and great service provided.
- Doug (10/5): Treated like a friend - relaxing and enjoyable
