- Barbara (8/5): Enjoyable. Single occupancy so small room. Had to ask for extra milk and coffee. Not automatically - Breakfast very good
Some noise from other guests on floors / stairs not carpeted Code for wi fi had a hash. The box covered the symbol which needed shift as well. TV was a pain with so many channels.
Further from station than realised.
- Brett (10/5): For me, it was a great location. The pizza was incredible. I’ll definitely rebook for my next visit to Truro - Location. N/A

- Chris (5/5): Good location, friendly front-of-house staff but with a few issues that made the stay less enjoyable - The location was great as we were in Truro to attend a show at the Hall of Cornwall. The two staff members who greeted us on arrive were very friendly and helpful. The hotel didn’t seem particularly busy, yet other guests were placed in the room next door. So we were awoken by them around midnight trying to open their door and talking loudly. I didn’t see the sense in placing somebody right next door to our room when other rooms must have been available.
Also, it’s a minor point but the menu at breakfast stated items that you could order. However, the person in the dining area asked us if we wanted tea or coffee and then we didn’t see her again.
- Mark (9/5): - Good location in a quiet area but within walking or bussing distance of the centre. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable bed, room just the right size. Cozy lounge area. Value for money. Very little, just the slight shortage of staff at breakfast, but then it was a weekend out of season.
- Anya (8/5): -
- Elsa (9/5): - Great location. Room was comfy and absolutely spotless. The staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious- the spread was great.
- David (8/5): -
- Alex (8/5): Well-appointed boutique hotel in a convenient location - Vara is very clean and smartly decorated. Comfortable bed and some hot drink making facilities. Continental style breakfast is decent with cheese, salami, freshly baked croissants and jam/marmalade. The pizzas are local ales are good. Staff are professional and helpful.
- Jean (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - I was very well received by Stuart, who was always friendly and helpful to me. Being charged £3 for a packet of peanuts, in a fancy packet containing about half a dozen peanuts.
Rip-off.
- Bogdan (9/5): Eliot was the best, great service! -
- Maria (10/5): - I had a really lovely stay at Hotel Vara. The hotel was clean, modern, and had a really cute, stylish feel throughout. I especially liked the bathroom. The rain shower head was a great touch and made it feel a bit more luxurious.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Breakfast was also lovely, with a nice continental selection to start the day.
The location is really convenient, too, about a 10-minute walk into town, which was perfect for getting around easily without being in a noisy area.
Overall, it was a perfect stay, and I would definitely come back.
- pamela (8/5): As great place to stay in town . - Great welcome and booking in. Clean ,fresh , light room.
Simple but fresh continental breakfast. Great pot of Earl Grey and cafetière of coffee made promptly at breakfast.. plus toast.
Easy to access town. I asked for slightly bigger double , it didn’t seem slightly bigger but might have been. Shower and shower room very small and cramped. Up 40 stairs to room … could have mentioned no lift .

- Curnow (10/5): - Helpful and friendly staff Nothing it was a great hotel
- ff52c32e189a728b591c8b7a23ad229f (9/5): Brilliant as expected - I think the showers need some mats as quite slippery

- 52b46657556171937d07ea33d28be572 (8/5): Very pleasant stay - Pleasant bedroom and communal areas. Good food. Welcoming staff. Good position for exploring the town and free parking. Difficult to find as we did not know Truro. Although that could have been partly due to our satnav!
No lift. Steep stairs for the elderly/impaired, especially hauling heavy cases up and down.
- 52b46657556171937d07ea33d28be572 (7/5): - Clean and friendly Room very small, breakfast was basic, good for single night stay.

- karenhW4104FJ (10/5): Would highly recommend - Our one night stay was perfect and we would highly recommend Hotel Vara.
We were a family travelling with our dog. Family room was perfect for us and our spaniel was happy with her mat, fresh water in her bowl and biscuits! Staff were informative and helpful.
Room was clean and beds comfortable.
Lovely breakfast too
Would definately stay again
- Alma (9/5): -
- Jane (7/5): Convenient for town and good breakfast - Room very small with small high window. Ok for one night but no more. Size of room and lack of window
- Sue (8/5): - Great breakfast and comfortable room. Room smelt a bit weird
- Emma (10/5): Really great hotel in a top Truro location - we have stayed multiple times and will return again! - This is a great hotel, we have stayed a few times while visiting family in Truro. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and cosy. The whole atmosphere of the hotel - living room and log burning fire, dining area and bar, breakfast room - is friendly and relaxing. Staff go out of their way to help, and are friendly and efficient.
- Jones (10/5): Enjoyable - The hotel was perfection, staff super friendly and service was exceptional. N/A
- Brodie (9/5): - Lovely hotel, smooth check-in, polite staff.
- Mary (8/5): A really good stay -

- Alan (9/5): -
- Jon (10/5): -
- Cassandra (5/5): Tried it once, not going back. Room not as pictured - Reception and bar decorated beautifully Room was out the back of the hotel
Not what I booked
Bathroom was a bath with taps that converted to a shower
No shower screen
Old bathroom
Toilet seat too small for bowl
Dated decor
- Tony (8/5): -
- Larissa (10/5): Brilliant location and fab staff - Lovely lounge and well equipped rooms. Staff were brilliant. Friendliest o have encountered for a long time. Nothing.
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Perfect stay in a stylish and welcoming property. - Ideal location for a weekend exploring Truro. The cabin room was clean and comfortable and the lounge area was perfect for relaxing pre-dinner drinks. We loved the continental style breakfast in the morning. Our host was friendly and very attentive. Perfect stay.
- jennywB6208YC (10/5): Meeting space - I used this hotel yesterday for a meeting and couldn’t have been more impressed. The location is excellent and parking was easy and convenient, which made arrival completely stress-free.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived, creating a relaxed and professional atmosphere. The meeting space itself was beautiful, calm, and well set up with everything we needed for a productive day.
Lunch was impeccable – high quality, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully catered to all dietary requirements without any fuss.
I would highly recommend this hotel as a meeting space and will definitely be using it again.
- Mal (9/5): Nice place - Nice team, clean Breakfast was non-standard
- Joanne (10/5): Excellent - The catered for me beautifully as I am both gluten and lactose intolerant
- jeremywQ1646TO (10/5): Perfect place to stay, meet or work. - Fantastic place to stay in Truro. This is my 4th time staying here when visiting the beautiful City of Truro to see family and friends. Love the warm friendly vibe and all the staff are all brilliant and super helpful. Great place to relax, work or meet and would highly recommend it. Love the breakfast options and great pizza's if you choose. Lots of options nearby also - can't wait to return.
- Jones (10/5): -
- Garner (9/5): - The staff were very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.. We had a room on the ground floor whuch was ideal as stairs at our age is a challenge The location was ideal for our requirements. We will stay there again. Nothing, it was perfect for us.
- Julia (10/5): -
- Kevin (5/5): Friendly staff and comfy bed (basic room) - The bed was comfortable. The room had the tiniest window, stools for bedside tables, no wardrobe or clothes hangers only a coat stand, broken coffee machine and DIY egg boiler.
- Myles (7/5): -
- Gary (10/5): -
- RAYIK (10/5): Meeting for business - The Staff, especially those at reception, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was perfect in every aspect. The location, the bed, the breakfast, the room were all excellent. None
- Gill (9/5): -
- Megan (9/5): -
- David (9/5): Peaceful and comfortable and near to town -
- Rita (7/5): -
- jonathan (8/5): - 👍
- Jayne (5/5): A little disappointing due to room, shower and wardrobe size as there is so much to love about The V - Breakfast fresh and tasty, location fantastic, staff very helpful and friendly. The decor was lovely in the lounge and bar area and the parking a great addition The room was far too small, the shower had no shelf and was so small it was difficult to pick up shampoo/shower gel off the shower floor whilst showering. The flush on the toilet was very weak and you couldn't hang up a dress on the hangers as the wardrobe was too short so dresses crumpled at the bottom. A smaller room was expected however this one was hardly functional. 😞
- Roger (8/5): - reception/food for dinner
- Amanda (7/5): Friendly, comfortable and nice breakfasts. - Location good for walking into the city.
Breakfast very varied and good
Staff friendly and obliging
Lounge comfortable Our bathroom was quite small, everything supplied, but just a bit on the small side.
- Georgina (1/5): Horrible hotel run by Basil Fawlty! - Room was very basic, bed was uncomfortable as mattress springs could be felt and the shower room was tiny, really smelly and very old fashioned. It was like staying in an old people’s home!
There wasn’t a glass in the bathroom to rinse after brushing and they suppled one useless wooden spoon to stir your tea.
I had to upgrade my room to have my dog stay then I had to pay another £45 to have him stay again! And not a dog bowl or treat in sight and I had to use said useless wooden spoon to dish out his tinned food!!
Was made to feel completely unwelcome by the owner who was patronising, rude and really unhelpful! I did not like to ask for a glass or spoon in case I was admonished again!
Must point out though that the gentlemen staff were lovely so maybe the owner should take a step back and let them take over the customer service!
- Eliana (8/5): cute boutique hotel for a short stay - accurate pictures, staff was lovely, very comfortable beds, great wifi, good breakfast there was a hair in the shower when we got there so not the best but i overlooked that and the rest was great! slight damp smell but u cant help that in the uk i guess
- Robert (3/5): -
- Roger (8/5): -
- Sanjay (10/5): -
- sabrina (8/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): Excellent service with a relaxing vibe. - Daniel that works here went out of his way to welcome us and help us after a particularly stressful day (not caused by the hotel or their staff in any way). He was polite, friendly and went the extra mile to be helpful. The bed was a king and I slept like a log, as it was so comfortable. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The pizzas at night were particularly nice. Lovely little hotel overall. The shower could have been more powerful.
- Annie (6/5): - The Vara is lovely if you are in the upstairs rooms, but the ones below are small and noisy.
- Adriana (10/5): -
- mark (10/5): Wonderful one night stay in a lovely hotel . Will be doing again very soon 😊 - Everything was perfect . Hotel was great , staff were great and location was perfect .
- Steve (10/5): Very nice will go back again x - Yes great like boiling my eggs great thing to do in the morning
Wakes you up xx Nothing
- Gwilym (8/5): -
- Tina (10/5): - Friendly staff from greet and meet.
Location ideal for location required.
Very happy with the whole experience 🙂 There was nothing to complain about.
- sylvia (10/5): -
- Monika (9/5): Highly recommended! Lovely staff - The hotel appears freshly renovated, thoughtfully balancing modern updates with respect for its age and original features. Parking is a great option, and we also noticed charging points available. Even though we stayed for just one night, it was a relaxing and pleasant experience.
Breakfast could be more varied, particularly with more vegetable options, but we understand that it was the 1st of January and a challenging day for staff to operate in the usual way. Hard pillows, falling down towel holders no shelves in the bathroom,
- Hollie (10/5): Wonderful. I have to travel to Truro a lot for work and I will certainly book again. - The staff were all wonderful. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable (lovely tea and biscuits!). I stayed for two nights so on one night I had one of the fantastic pizzas available in the hotel's bar and on the other night I walked 5 minutes to the Thomas Daniell for a meal which was also fab - recommend both and the proximity of the hotel to the Thomas Daniell is a big selling point for me.
Breakfast each day was great - generous and I loved the "boil your own eggs".
Gorgeous decor.
Ideal as it has parking but is also walking distance of the city centre. Nothing.
Due to the age of the building there is no lift so there are a few stairs depending on where your room is. Not a problem for me but worth noting if you have a lot of bags or if accessibility is a factor.

- Philip (9/5): We were very pleased to find this hotel and would happily stay again - Our room was very spacious. The bed was massive and comfortable and the pillows and linen were quality. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would have liked a little ventilation in the room, but the sash windows we painted up and couldn't be opened. The music in the bar was not quite our to our liking. Neither was enough of a problem for us to mention to the staff.
- Karol (7/5): It is very convenient for our needs. Beds were very comfortable. It was very clean. - The only staff member - Elliott - was brilliant. Very helpful, informative etc. Couldn't fault him.
Locality - excellent, Parking excellent. Our room was very cold. ( when the outside temperature was only 5 deg. )
The room was a bit stark - could have done with colour, and maybe curtains instead of just a blind.
- Perparim (7/5): Adequate - Location Slightly outdated
- Stephen (10/5): Comfortable - Very clean/ facilities are good/ staff very pleasant and friendly/ location.
- Melissa (8/5): -
- alexjX6970FF (10/5): Cozy little place with exceptional staff - I was visiting the area and had this place recommended to me for its famous pizza. And I must say, the food was absolutely delicious—freshly made in good time and very reasonably priced.
The place itself is absolutely lovely: cozy, beautifully kept, and full of character. The fireplace in the main room adds an extra touch of charm, and the music drifting from the speakers puts you instantly in a pleasant mood.
Daniel, who was hosting, was completely delightful and thoroughly professional. He looked after every single detail (and apparently he also made the pizza?!! Hats off to you, good sir).
I’ll certainly be back the next time I’m in the area.
