Guest Reviews
- Scott (6/5): - Old musty
- Steve (6/5): - Clean, easy location
- Richard (6/5): - Noisy crowd, thin walls
- Kenneth (8/5): - Decent older motel, just needed a place to sleep for the night, and everything was clean.
- Carl (10/5): - A nice quaint rest stop. I would definitely return.
- LISA (8/5): - The West Park Inn was just right for our needs.
- Deborah (8/5): - The place is old and it definitely shows, but staff was friendly and it filled our need to rest for a night.
- James (8/5): - Our ONLY complaint is - the air conditioner was very loud.
- Kathleen (8/5): Better than most for an overnight inexpensive stay - We were in the area on business and needed a place for just one night on a weekend. We booked early, knowing that rooms are snapped up for the summer months. Our room was ready when we arrived just after the 3pm check-in. Located in the 2nd building where the lobby needs some TLC; it's needs some brightening up and a good scrub down! Our room was spacious enough and clean and comfortable. The shower was easy to use, and the bath towels were large, soft, and absorbent. Shampoo and body wash provided; no conditioner.
- Don (4/5): - There is not much in Sandusky Michigan to choose from. $116 per night is close to what we pay at a chain hotel in rural areas. For what you get in room quality, amenities at the motel, etc. it is just too much to pay. This is an $80 motel at best.
- Sherry (8/5): - Stayed here for a weekend get together with longtime friends because we all turn 70 this year and we have been friends from high-school, now about 55 years. Place was okay but very dated and hotel restaurant was closed Saturday and Sunday!! A bit disappointed but so good to see everyone involved in party. Thanks for a place to stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): West Park Inn overnight stay - Spiders in the bathtub. Hair on bathroom floor and bathroom sink. Beds were soft. Soft!
The food at the local Dairy Queen was great!
- Athena (6/5): - Clean quiet rooms.
- Melanie (8/5): Nice and comfy - The bed was great and we both slept like a baby. Everything including the staff was just wonderful. The young woman who was our server in the cafe was awesome. The food was also excellent!
- Heather (10/5): - Easy check in, excellent communication and a super clean room! We have stayed a few times and we will always be back when in the area!
- Alan (8/5): Getting Better - Reviews on this place are rough. I have to believe that it recently changed ownership. You can see that they have been working to improve the hotel. I was in room 28 so I am only speaking to this room. Bedding seemed new. They have added several common accessories that you would see in chain hotels. They still have more work do to but it was fine for the night. Little high priced for what you get but not off by much. Hopefully they will keep up the improvements.
- Karen (8/5): - Good place to stay for the surrounding areas.
- Theresa (10/5): Great place to stay! - This was a lovely gem that I discovered and was a welcome stop after a long day of driving. The staff was so accommodating, and attached was a wonderful restaurant and bar that was obviously a local favorite. Food and service excellent. Food was excellent.
- Keith (10/5): - We were at West Park Inn five nights. Clean, adequately furnished room and bathroom. Thanks for a comfortable stay.
- Trevor (8/5): - Older place but kept clean
- Andrea (10/5): - Easy check-in and check-out. Convenient location. Clean room.
- Lori (8/5): - Nice motel in downtown Sandusky. Perfect for a night or 2. NO BREAKFAST as advertised, but the McDonald's is next door and you could walk.
- Andrea (10/5): - The bed was comfortable. The refrigerator worked. The ac worked. I didn’t see the coffee maker or microwave. The lamps all had working lightbulbs. There was ample drawer space. I was pleasantly surprised to see the clothes rack.
The bathroom was small.
- Amber (8/5): - The staff were great, helpful and friendly!
- James (10/5): - Easy to find. Beds were comfortable, Clean room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall good! - Just stayed one night. Everything was good except the curtains on the window were not darkening and did not entirely cover the window. There was about 2 inches on each end where people could look in if they wanted. Window faced the east so early morning light poured in. Hair dryer in BR worked fine but the cord was old dirty and disgusting. Could be replaced. Beds were clean and comfy. All else was great!
- Michael (8/5): - Close to the race course.
- Dan (6/5): - Good
- Cam (8/5): - Room was nice. The restaurant attached was really good.
- kenneth (8/5): - all was good
- Thomas (8/5): - The room was clean as was the bathroom.
- Kody (4/5): - Older bald guy working in the morning was really rude
- David (10/5): - Great place. I will stay again.
- Jeff (8/5): - Nice place no smoking which I liked a little noisy from the road traffic but overall I will definitely stay there again
- Mikel (10/5): - Had the single king bed room. Was very nice. No complaints at all. I would not hesitate to book again. Staff was extremely friendly and everything was exactly as it should be.
- Julia (6/5): - Good value for the price. Enjoyed the restaurant very much.
- Patrick (8/5): - Older place but clean and safe. There’s good food in the restaurant and it’s a quick walk to town.
- Terry Lynn (10/5): - The people there were awesome!! Very nice Man and Woman checked me in!
However I should have came to the desk. We had three people trying to get ready for a wedding. Imagine our surprise when there wasn't enough water pressure to take a shower!
Probably My fault for being to afraid of getting angry.
- James (10/5): - The location was easy to find. the room was clean with comfortable bed.
- William (8/5): - Friendly and efficient staff. Room was clean.
- Elizabeth P (8/5): - For a small town motel, it was clean and convenient to what we needed.
- Jessica (10/5): Lovely stay - Different wall color, cover the cords a little better, so it’s not all hanging out. The king size bed was actually comfortable. The bar area was very well updated, we had to wait for someone to ask if our food was good and waited too long for our bill, they were both on their cell phones the entire time. Other than that, we would stay again.
- Terry (8/5): Acceptable - Check in went very good. We were there for a wedding and were placed on the first floor which was fine although we were hoping to be all in the same adjoining rooms. The room was clean for the most part. However, the bathtub did not look suitable to take a shower and caulking needs to be done around the water spouts. The toilet was very low and the counter in the bathroom was very low also. It was not the worst, but not the best. I would rate it fair and for one nite was acceptable.
- Denise (6/5): - Property was clean but the noise from the hallway was distracting when we fist checked in (peopleyelling to each other) and at 2AM when the bar closed. Totally woke up & couldn't t back to sleep. Noise when on for about a half an hour. Write up said their was a restaurant there but I didn't see any unless they just meant the bar food.
- Ray (8/5): - Stayed 3 nights. The room was very clean and the nights were quiet. The new bar area was nice but a little noisy. Food was great.
- Cory (8/5): Nice - Nice place clean friendly
- Pat (10/5): - Good wraps
- John (6/5): - Motel had construction going on, check-in was difficult. I would suggest not renting Rm 23 when it's raining as sump pump was located right under/next to room and ran loud & constantly all night long! Might want to consider upgrading pillows, not very comfortable. Room and bathroom were very clean.
- Ed (10/5): - Had to find check in, small, but they are remodeling but the staff were great
- Igor (2/5): - No hot water in the morning, shampoo and body wash never refill...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was clean but chair was stained. Staff at night was nice, but staff in the morning wasn't very freindly. Bathroom vents were dirty, shower was great. No restaurant, no breakfast. Bedsheets smelled fresh with bleach, love it!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The on-site bar was great and the room was clean. The walls are paper thin and you could hear EVERYTHING and EVERYONE in the hall and surrounding rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good for what you get
- John (8/5): - Bathroom finishes could use some attention, but overall, the room was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again --
- James (8/5): - Clean rooms, friendly staff however our key could not open our front entrance. We had to walk into building to go to the back side to enter our room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was good!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room had a smell, couple arguing in the next room, shower head was black, looked like mold on it, bathroom sink had a pubic hair in it,
- MICHELLE (8/5): Pleasant Experience - I stayed one night, the staff was very friendly. I ate at the restaurant in the hotel, the food was very good. I had a side of breaded mushroom, they were actually hand breaded and delicious. The towel rack was missing in the bathroom and the blow dryer did not work. But all in all it was a pleasant experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pretty much a standard overnight motel with bar and restaurant. Clean, roomy and warm
- Glyn (8/5): Dated but nice and clean - The room and bathroom were very clean. Unfortunately I was there over a weekend, and the kitchen was closed Sunday. The rooms are a little dated but my only real issue is that I would like a towel rack or two in the bathroom. I have stayed there several times, and before COVID, it was nice to sit at their bar for a cocktail or two, then get up and walk a short distance to my room.
- Bruce (2/5): - Don’t waste my time it was a joke
- Connie (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Quick over-night stay. Room was clean and comfortable but a little dated. I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place for hunters to stay. They mad coffee for us at 4am
- Kevin (10/5): - Just a friendly place to stay. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating.
- Jo (8/5): - Great service it wasent as nice as i had hoped for the remote for tv dudnt work n mirror was cracked plus there was a mirror behined tv weird right ? But all n all not bad
- Ally (8/5): Good Stay - Clean and comfy no complaints!
- Alison (8/5): - Good place to stay! Very clean, and bed was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - Great service. Comfy room. Heater fan made loud noises. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners went out of their way to make us comfortable.
- SD (8/5): - For the price, very clean. Coffee maker but no coffee or filters ; had to buy my own. Have a second floor which I didn't know from their advertising; I would have requested a room in second floor. The BEST spinach dip in the world at the lounge inside motel. Safe and quiet. Staff did NOT shovel snow near my car though! Left a big pile up of snow around my car instead of being polite and at least shoveling ground near driver's door since they pushed the snow their!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Nice selection of items for the continental breakfast.
- Lydia (8/5): - They have a lot to offer at a very reasonable price. It's a little dated and we could hear people moving around in the room above us. I would stay there again.
- Roy (8/5): - Very nice staff and hotel. A little outdated but comfort was great. A little noise at night but a great place to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - if you are looking for a fancy place to stay this isn't it. But if you are looking for a clean quit place than this is a good place. The rooms are a little out dated but nice. the Food is good and the staff is pleasant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We found clean rooms and value for the reasonable price of the stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Could not believe there was no ice machine, although we were able to get ice from someone in the kitchen.
- Greg (10/5): - Water Park Inn was clean for an older motel. The breakfast in the morning is good enough to fill your belly and get you on the road to enjoy the area around it. We’d stay here again. It is not however a 1 minute walk to Lake Huron like Hotel.com states.
- Eve (10/5): Great rate, Clean room - Room was very clean, staff super friendly, ate lunch at the bar, the food was delicious!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would stay there again! - For the most part we were very satisfied. My sister found her bed uncomfortable; mine was great! The computer system needs to be updated as we were locked out of our room twice and had to have new keys made. Overall, the condition of the motel was great given it's age (unlike their competitor across the street).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was very nice. Everyone was helpful. The food was good.
- MR (10/5): - Room was clean. We loved the fact that the restaurant was there. No driving after a long day. Bartender was friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful staff, very laid back atmosphere. Staff was very helpful (only issue we had was one key didn’t work so we got new ones right away). Nice little bar on site, breakfast and coffee in the a.m. Quiet area so no highway noise. Would stay here again.
- Dennis (10/5): Nice place to rest your head - Was clean and cozy
- Lori (6/5): - the room needed to have the air conditioning activated. there was an unmistakable musty order, which made the stay somewhat unpleasant.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room they gave us smelled like mold so bad we couldnt stand in the room. We did not stay. They issued a refund.
- Leonard (6/5): Westpark Inn Stay - Our stay was okay. Their breakfast was very good. They need to put microwaves in the rooms. It gets very noisy after the bar closes. Thank You
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and clean place to stay! The people who run the place are great and friendly. The lounge and restaurant is in the hotel and was just what we needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): One of only two choices... - DeMott's is one of just two hotels available in Sandusky. It's a homey place that's been around for quite a while and is in dire need of a face lift. They did some work on the place since we last visited a year ago, but the work was pretty amateurish. They had redone the bathroom in our room recently, but the towel rack had already been ripped off the wall and there were two big holes in the drywall where it used to be anchored to the wall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice having restaurant and bar attached. Breakfast could use some serious improvement.
- Robert (8/5): Good for a 2-star hotel. - Everyone that we dealt with was amazing! However the price from Hotel.com was more expensive than the hotels normal price! The room was adequate, but there was a few holes in the walls and wallpaper peeling (see pictures). Breakfast was okay (biscuits were hard as rocks and milk was a little on the warm side) but definitely could have been better as it is held in a restaurant that serves tasty lunch and dinner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stayed here before. the main building (near the restaurant/bar) is fine, the outbuilding not so much. Noise on weekends ok since hallway is double doored.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was great!! I have nothing else to say, period!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good service, comfort for the price - Traveled over the summer, was a great atmosphere, good service and a restaurant attached to the hotel.
- Penny (8/5): - Nice motel with great restaurant attached. Friendly staff. Could use better lighting in the rooms.
- Elmer (6/5): - The room was nice but noisy.
We could hear people above us waking about their room Wife complained that there were no shower caps available.
- Paul (8/5): - Nice hotel off the main street. Great location and staff was excellent! The wifi is the fastest I've had at a hotel recently and the restaurant serves really good food. Ate all my meals there, no need to go out.
- Vicki (6/5): - Loved having a restaurant right there and the food was very good
- Kathleen (8/5): Nice accommodations for the price. - Our stay was brief as we were in town to attend a local music festival and visit family and friends. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, definitely worth the rate we paid. We would stay there again in the future.
- Terri (6/5): - Had a hard time getting in the room door. Key card wouldn’t work in main door. Had to go to other door to get in. Then couldn’t get in either door after eating breakfast. Good choice of breakfast food.
