Guest Reviews
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Convenient cozy and clean! Little small
- Dwayne (10/5): Had a great time and would definitely go back - Great location and the cottage was nice
- Veronica (10/5): - The owner was wonderful and so helpful. We needed a last minute place to stay and accidentally came across Spruce Hill during my search. We checked in about 10pm and was welcomed by the owner. Best accident that could have happened.
The beds were like sleeping on a cloud. The was amazing water pressure and didn't run out of hot water. Perfectly located within Mansfield. We traveled with 3 adults and our German Shepherd dog and we had enough room. Room was cozy and decorated well.
- Riley (10/5): This was a great place for my now fiancé to propose! - It was very beautiful, clean and quiet. It was definitely one of the nicest places i’ve stayed. The staff i talked to was super friendly and helpful. It was a little hard to find the cottage but we just called the receptionist and she helped us out and was very kind.
- Crystal (8/5): -
- Robert (7/5): - TV was setup with restrictions so a lot of the shows were not available to watch.
- Dante (3/5): -
- Stephanie (3/5): Uncomfortable - It was clean No hot tub as stated not the room we booked and abandoned rv with a creepy man living in it staring at us all night right outside our door pics of property on their site are not what it looks like at all when we explained to property I was scared they did not care
- Justin (7/5): No complaints really - Private and quite The beds were a little uncomfortable
- Alison (8/5): -
- Leonard (10/5): -
- Greg (8/5): -
- Blauvelt (10/5): -
- Quinzea (10/5): Would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend - It had everything I needed. Set up was very nice inside. Liked having the small pond out front and sitting on the porch drinking coffee in the morning. It was so peaceful!!! No complaints
- Joseph (2/5): - Nothing The room had to much stuff had a smell and bed was old.
- Courtney (1/5): - The location was right next to Snowtrails and 16 min drive to Malabar Farm. Not at all like the pictures! The pictures are from years ago, as well as the good reviews. It is now very run down and not clean. The toilet rocked when you sat on it. The decor was hideous and random chaos. We didn't get a good night sleep. Didn't want to sleep under the covers. It was very disappointing to say the least.
- Donna (6/5): Just stayed one night while visiting area with mother. - The cottage was interestingly decorated A little too much furniture crammed in a small space. Outdoors was not well maintained. Area has a lot of potential, but unfortunately landscaping and surrounding area were kind of junky looking. Also, muffins or the like would have been great for breakfast.
- Wesley (8/5): Very quaint and comfortable. - Nice cottage, very helpful caretaker.
Would stay again.
- John (9/5): -
- Sandra (7/5): -
- Macklin (10/5): - The cottage was beautiful, clean, and quiet. We were left alone and didn't even see other people, wich is what we wanted. There was a fire pit outside and a nice deck off the living room area. The staff only interaction was when they asked if we needed towels, tp,or trash removal, and when we asked where we could order something to eat. We never want to leave. Absolutely nothing
- Shawn (10/5): Mid-Ohio getaway. - Weekend getaway with family. Nice accommodation to spend together while being at Motorcycle Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio.
- Kristina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alisha (4/5): - Communication about check in process was terrible. There was no remote for the TV. The room was not very clean. Will not be staying again
- Ryder (1/5): DONT BOOK HERE IT’S NOTHING LIKE IT SHOWS ONLINE GROSS! - Actually nothing Times were awful! We were shown three crashes and they were all musty, dirty and creepy! I felt unsafe and like I might get fleas if I slept in that decrepit bed. We left and went to Hampton in where it was clean and safe. I tried to call the lady in charge to ask for even a partial refund. Of course, no reply back.
This place is so yuck.
- Chenoweth (5/5): Not what we expected - The bed was super comfortable. The cabin itself was decent When we got settled in, we discovered that there was no TV remote. A call to the office fixed that, they brought one up right away. Later, we realized that there were no pods for the Keurig, only creamer & sugar, so we did without coffee. As far as upkeep, they seem to be pretty lax on maintaining the grounds, the weeds were pretty high around our cabin. All in all, I feel like it didn't meet our expectations and therefore is overpriced for what it is. We wouldn't stay there in the future.
- Priscilla (10/5): Adorable & pleasant! - Very cute!
- Wright (10/5): Quaint little paradise - Loved the cottage, beautifully decorated comfortable furniture, Grounds were a little run down, not well kept
- Melvin (7/5): Good - Quiet and spacious Difficult to find at night, no lighted sign. Very nice host, and we booked later at night, but they were not prepared for guest. Dusty room and previous guest toothpaste residue in sink.
- Virginia (6/5): Comfy but dated - The property was overall worn down but was very peaceful and quiet. Rooms were comfortable though small, especially with so many larger pieces of furniture it was difficult to find places for luggage. We also had an ant issue in our cabin. Checking in was confusing since there was no front desk or office and ended up having to call the number. My cell service was spotty so this was stressful as noone picked up the first time.
- Jonathan (10/5): Perfect spot to stay while visiting the city. - Very cozy cottage. After the first night I noticed the turtle pond. I purchased some turtle food and they would just about eat out of your hands. N/a
- Massey (9/5): Superb - It was a cute place Would have been better had there been two queen beds instead of a king and queen.
- Lili (10/5): - The staff was very nice and available to assist when needed. The cottage we stayed in was very quaint and inviting. I would definitely stay there again for my next visit!
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): An absolutely magical, unexpected retreat- like stay. My dog also loved it. - This was one of the most beautiful hotel/cottage stays I've ever had. It was gorgeous, quiet, comfortable. Way more retreat like than I was expecting. I loved it all.
- Kayla (10/5): I think this was a wonderful place to stay for several different reasons! - The location was great, I loved how it was up on a mountain and next to the ski resort that we actually didn't know existed until we went to the cottage for the first time. We loved how secluded and private it was, we did happen to speak to some of our neighbors and they were so nice. The check-in process was so simple, all I had to do was call and get the cottage number. The cottage was so cute the way it was decorated. The spa bath worked great and was nice after a long day of traveling and walking. The pond in front of the cottages is the home for lots of turtles and fish, and has a fire pit and plenty of seating around the pond for relaxing outside. It's honestly perfect for families and couples. I plan to come back again with my kids next time! The only thing I think could be an improvement is letting people know that you can rent cottages with outside patios on them. We noticed the one next door had one, but we did not which was completely fine because we're easy going but it would have been nice to have known it was an option we had, permitting there's a cottage with a patio available.
- Lockhart (10/5): Definitely enjoyed our stay and will definitely return again I’d love to see the place in spring - We definitely liked the quietness and cuteness I didn’t like that they had so many beds in the room (3) it felt stuffed also it could have been a little cleaner the tub was a little dirty and so was the plate holding flowers on the table
- Nannette (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (4/5): Please update we loved this but now do not. - This was our 2nd time at this property and a different cabin. Unimpressed. First time we loved it. This time our key was not in our room so had to wait until the next day. Our heater ran non stop so our room was HOT. The thermostat obviously didn’t work. The person staying in the other side was knocking on the wall at 2am so I thought someone was in our room. We left at 3:30 am 2nd night because it was so noisy and uncomfortably HOT. I didn’t say anything because it was 2am and I wasn’t bugging someone in the middle of the night as I was leaving for that very reason. Just a weird stay. It desperately needs updated. Just not what I expected.
- Zabolotskiy (8/5): Very good -
- Erica (10/5): We enjoyed our stay we went snow tubing and it was right next door perfect location staff friendly and easy to reach - It was close to Snow Trails N/A
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pack (7/5): Good - Room was clean, beds were comfortable, jacuzzi tub worked very well. Overall lack of upkeep to property, abandoned furniture & other misc junk left outside. Property did not appear to be well kept.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Angie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sierra (8/5): I loved it. I would definitely be back. 💕 - I loved how it was in its own little area. I loved how comfortable it made me feel. It’s just beautiful inside and out. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was either freezing and hot. There wasn’t really a in between. I also wasn’t able to use the jets in the jacuzzi because there was so much buildup in them that every-time I turned them on stuff would come out.
- Julie (9/5): Very nice cottages - No breakfast. It’s nice bc it’s next to the ski hills
- Moussa (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Beautiful Bungalows in a Beautiful Setting - The room is absolutely beautiful and decorated as if it was your own house in the country. Located next to Snow Trails, which was busy until late. Fireworks on Saturday evening. Unit has everything needed to cook a real meal including a Keurig coffee maker and microwave oven. Very comfortable beds. TV didn't work. A little short on outlets
- Jay (9/5): Superb -
- Mngalati (10/5): Exceptional - Our cottage was beautifully decorated and clean.
- Sachia (10/5): My boyfriend and I would love to stay again. A true gem in Mansfield! - The Spruce Hill Cottage we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and homey. The tub and jets were perfect! We were perfectly set up for a night stay with a small refrigerator, microwave, oven, and even a keurig for coffee in the morning. The workers weren’t aware of our stay so we did have to wait about 45 minutes to get someone to the property to check everything and let us in. They were very kind and even upgraded our cottage due to the delay.
- Alexis (9/5): Superb -
- Dylan (4/5): Needs some work - It's just far enough off the trail that you feel like you're in nature.
The decorating was nice, very home like. We were the only ones at the hotel.
They had cups bowls and silverware.
Jacuzzi tub worked. Description said we'd have the whole bungalow. We did not.
There were cobwebs on a bunch of stuff. The Wifi didn't work, as in there was wifi but it was the default router SSDN. Basically had to argue I booked the room because the owner "didn't get the reservation from Booking.com.
had a 4x4 truck, because the hill was frozen. It was freezing cold for hours, and some of the stuff was broken, like one of the heaters that didn't have a ground on the plug. No one met us at the building like the email said. TV is tiny.
Spiderwebs... like actual spiderwebs on the light fixtures. The stairs had ice on them and it was very slippery. I had to go to Walmart and get salt myself. Once it got warm enough, hours later, I couldn't get it to be comfortably warm. Hot or cold were the options once I found the non broken spare heater. Bed was odd. Fountain wasn't plugged in in the bathroom. There was some weird dirt on the bottle of shampoo. Paint chipped out of walls. Paint on furniture. Furniture scraped up. They had a low flow camping shower head in the shower head.
$200 bucks through Booking.com, the hotel website offers $179 for the room and dinner at local attractions.
Would have been worth it for like $100.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clinger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Courtney (4/5): - There was a huge foam topper on super old mattress that was horribly uncomfortable and I felt unsanitary and the water would only turn to hot in bathroom sink and kitchen. Shower head needs replacing. We left early so we could go home to sleep in our own bed.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jeffrey (7/5): I slept the night away. - The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in in several years. the shower water gets hot almost instantly, the room was clean , it's easy access to restaurants and the area is beautiful. The initial impression as you enter the grounds is that it may be deserted. It's a bit overgrown with an RV apparently used for storage parked across from what was our cottage..(complete with extension cord running across the gravel parking lot to another cottage). Immediately outside our cottage was an old gas(?) grill with a bunch of tools including a propane torch scattered on the grill's sideboard. The tools were there all weekend. Upon arrival we fortunately bumped into a gentleman doing yardwork as we searched for somewhere to check in. He directed us to call "the 419 number" to check in. We had assumed there was an office. No instructions had been given. We weren't the only ones. as a couple of cars followed us in. This gentleman would be the only person from the lodging we would see during our weekend stay. Our cottage, a double queen, had too much furniture in it with two queen beds, a day bed, a chaise lounge, a table, two chairs, a desk, an armoire, a cupboard, etc. One more piece of furniture and we would have been considered hoarders . There were few electrical outlets; two air conditioners...(one non working wall and one fine working window). The Mansfield Snow Trails ski area which was adjacent to our end cottage, was hosting, what I assume was a grunge music festival for the weekend. I have never heard the "F" and "MF" words, along with a few others, so often, so loud and in such a beautiful setting as they wafted through the air, filtered through the trees while the music pulsed each evening until about 11PM . The strangest thing was that the beds were very comfortable, the shower almost instantly hot and the room clean. All in all I'm not a disgruntled customer although while there I half expected Rod Serling to step out of the dark and say "Welcome to the twighlight zone."
- Sharon (10/5): - Nice that it was pet friendly, a good place to walk the dog. Also liked that it's a duplex and our son and his wife shared the other side.. we would definitely book here again. And a Very comfortable clean bed !!
- Mastronardi (4/5): Disappointing - My phone service was zero. I couldn't even call the staff to check in. Some random guy was there to call her for me. The room smelled like a smoker lived there. The property was not kept up.
- Misty (9/5): Superb - Love the location and the peace and quiet!
- Lynn (6/5): We were only there for 1 night and it served its purpose. - Location was nice. Cottage was clean. Young lady who answered our phone calls was very nice and helpful. Cottage very dated. Crowded with furniture. No TV. No WiFi. Loud music played late into the night. Thankfully, cottage was well insulated and with air conditioning running, it drown most of the music out. Marketing picture is beautiful but we're disappointed upon arrival and saw that cottage was in need of some TLC. Very rustic and vintage, if that's your thing.
- Jumana (10/5): Exceptional - View and area Need some maintenance
- Joe (10/5): Mansfield trip - Room was very clean and area was pet friendly. I like to take my dogs on trips and I had plenty of dog walking space. Close to grocery as well. If you are going to Mansfield this is a great stop!
- Mike (2/5): - I would not recommend this place to anyone. The room smelled musty and there was no WiFi. There was no way to reach staff . Had a very Bates motel vibe). Poor management of the property.
- James (1/5): Bad stay was partly my fault for not asking if handicap accessible. TV very hard to use and gave up - Everything
- Lorri (10/5): Exceptional - Loved this cottage. It was a really cute, cozy cottage. Very clean, with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Thank you!!
- David (10/5): Beautiful setting, wonderful hosts - Such a beautiful place. The hosts were exceptional. Served a dinner for their guests which was wonderful. The dinner was worth the cost of the bungalow. That I was traveling solo. I hope to go back when I have a guest.
- WILLIAM (10/5): Very Nice - Beautiful views and cozy cottages, I met Elizabeth, what a nice lady, i would go back
- Diane (8/5): - Quiet and exclusive. The owners made sure each guest was well taken care of and welcome. We had a few issues with lighting in our cottage, but otherwise everything was working & comfortable. The jetted tub was very refreshing after a day kayaking & sight seeing. Really enjoyed our stay!
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Shawn (10/5): Family time - Fully advertised as is and nice space for a family get together.
- Amber (5/5): Overall a good one night stop over… the bed was nothing special… very loud and uncomfortable, and the property itself wa - The value was wonderful… close to our dinner reservations, property was clean, check in and out was easy… The mattress was very hard… and very loud… we did not get much sleep… and the property was unkempt.
- Evelina (10/5): Nice and cozy! - I loved how unique the decorations were as well as the pond. I wasn't sure how to use some of the utilities.
- Carla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeanette (10/5): I’ve died and gone to heaven! - From the minute I saw the porcelain coffee mug on the shelf, I knew I was in good hands! The cottages are furnished with love and comfort. The jacuzzi tub was lovely , along with coffee, mini kitchen, and a very comfy king size bed! It’s Rickey in the woods at the top of a hill adjacent to the ski area. It was very peaceful ❤️ There is absolutely nothing to “not like”!
- Sonja (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay. We appreciate the clean room and lovely decor. Loved the area and many walking trails in the area.
- Laura (8/5): Relaxing and nice stay! - Property was on a beautiful setting and surroundings were amazing Property was a little run down…needed some updates but very clean.
- Essel (10/5): Liked the atmosphere . - Nice location Everything was good
- Sightseeing (5/5): Passable - The drive-in was pretty. Got upgraded to a nicer cottage. There was a massage recliner that was Heaven to sit in. Extra pillows and blankets. The bed was comfy. The area needed to be cleaned up. Definitely needed to Weed-eat. Had bad rain come in about 2am and where the gutters had not been cleaned sounded like it was raining in the cabin. The check-in was very confusing. Lots of spider webs in the cabin. The internet to watch TV was awful.
- Casswall (9/5): Unique private DOG FRIENDLY stay - This is a wonderful and unique place to stay! The individual cabins were spacious and private on a beautiful property. It was great to be able to bring my dog and the staff was accommodating when I booked an additional night. It was a bit of a hassle getting into contact with the staff/front desk but all worked out in the end.
- Mike (6/5): Pleasant enough - Nice location The room had the strong small of air freshener like they were trying to cover up an oder
- Eric (3/5): Nice area and location, inside was cute but outside was bad. - The place was nice looking on inside. The inside had wood ants and flying ants. The outside was filthy. The place needed power washed and it needed weeds trimmed down and limbs from trees needs trimmed back so you can enjoy the back yard. House needs power washed and the outside was infested with spiders and had a bee nest under the back deck.
- Lara (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (10/5): Cute & quiet. - This place is charming and rustic. The spa tub was great. The stars were lovely. The pet fee is $35. It’s quirky and cute. Loved having a small kitchen. Check in took a few back and forths, but we were arriving late and appreciated the grace 🙏🏼
- Janet (7/5): Good - The cabin was clean. The bed was very comfy. Checkin was unusual. We couldn’t find anyone at what we thought was the main home. So, I left a VM and then received a text about checkin and our cabin #. Everything was prepaid.
All of that would have been MOST HELPFUL to know in advance?
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Clean. Quiet, beautiful. Great location.
- Carol (8/5): This is a perfect example of, don’t judge a book by the cover. Amazing time - The inside of the cottage was beautiful and comfortable
Which was a relief. Pulling in we were very concerned.
Outside looked awful
One cottage had an old couch on the porch one had a fridge Very comfy bed
Beautiful decor in the cottage
Spa tub
Allowed our dog
The turtle pond was fun and relaxing.
- Tricia (7/5): Good -
- Jalene (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (9/5): It was a very pleasant stay. Just a few tweaks would have made it perfect. - It was a very comfortable cabin in a beautiful setting. I enjoyed sitting outside listening to all the birds. There were no instructions in the cabin with information such as wifi password or checkout time or just area information like we find in most rental cabins. Also there was a television but we couldn’t watch it because there was no remote.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - The added little touches
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy and cozy secluded room with a view - Cute and comfortable room. Appears owners are refurbishing the place.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (6/5): - The area was nice. I did have a reservation for 1 king bed, got 2 queens which were really packed in a space not large enough. The room was very crowded. Needs a little TLC on the property in general.
