• lindsay (5/5): Staff were amazing. However... - Staff were super friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was average and suitable for our needs. The room was very basic. The bathroom had hair in it. The walls and floors are very thin so we were woken up by other residents talking. We could literally hear upstairs conversations. This woke us up a couple of times during the night. The reception and entrance looked deceiving as when we were upstairs to the room, the hallways and rooms were very out dated. The walls paper is peeling off the walls and carpet looked like ir saw better days. We couldn't fault the staff though, amazing service. Its a shame the building let's it down. It has so much potential.
• Gill (4/5): Great location, shame it's not been kept up - The staff were welcoming and accommodating The box bedframes were breaking down. The mattresses were lumpy (our first mattress had a lower head position to our feet...) and the staff admitted that they had a water survey which said which rooms had hot water, and which had warm... Our (warm) water room never even got warm. The decor was dated, and you have to pay for parking, even though the hotel appear to own it. The rooms were clean on the surface, but closer inspection shows dust and grime.

Theres wallpaper pealing off most ofnthe walls, room floor cracks and crewks when you walk around, and other doors opening and closing shake the room. The staff did offer another room but just wanted to get out of there

Rihanna, the waitress at breakfast (a delightful girl) has extremely long hair, put up in a ponytail. She kept swishing her ponytail when she left everyone’s table. Her hair nearly hit me in the face as she left us after serving us our cooked breakfast. Not hygienic at all.

• Kim (8/5): You can't beat the value for money of the Dilkhusa Grand. - Lovely big room, partly refurbished. Location of the Dilkhusa is perfect. Just a short walk to everything Ilfracombe has to offer. Excellent value for money. We had an issue with the toilet not flushing properly which wasn't resolved whilst we were there, even though we reported it straight away.

• Vicki (10/5): I hoped for a little gem and it exceeded my expectations. - Dining room was closed so cannot comment but everything else was top notch. Old- fashioned courtesy and a beautiful vintage building. Nothing, I wanted a traditional Grand hotel experience and I found it. Yes it is shabby and in need of decoration but that does not detract in any way. It is part of the charm.the staff are excellent, helpful and welcoming and the location is excellent. So much more comfortable than a ghastly Travel Lodge.

• Teresa (1/5): The staff were friendly but other than that it was a horrendous room. It’s like the room had been forgotten about. I’m a - The bed was kind of comfortable, the towels were clean. The walls were damp and peeling, it was dirty, the shower was freezing cold, the kettle had mouldy water in it. The radiator didn’t work so the room was beyond cold. It wasn’t a comfortable stay at all.
• Bridget (4/5): - We liked the fact that it was convenient for amenities and the sea. It was lovely that the radiator had been on for a while to warm the room. Lovely hot water. Price was good too. We booked a twin room but one of the bed bases was incredibly wobbly and you could feel every spring in the mattress. Most uncomfortable! A mattress topper could solve this problem? There was no bedside cabinet/ table by the second bed and no bedside lamp. I love to read until late. The whole room looked like it needs some TLC. It's such a shame to see it go like this knowing it must have been superb at some stage!

Carpets were dirty and were rundown. The furniture and doors, paintwork was shabby, and no AC. The hotel needs to be cleaned and modernised. Re modernise and redecorate the hotel

• KFBEN (4/5): If your looking for comfort dont bother, below budget standards. - Free parking on street parking until 10am Woke up half hour before check out time to find out my room had no hot water despite running it for a long time, when checking out staff did offer me to take a shower in another room but I had somewhere else to be not an ideal start to the day, hotel is generally dated and under invested in, room lacked extra pillows or even comftable ones, also the bathroom stunk of cigarette smoke.

• meglalang (4/5): - Location The room was freezing and radiator didn’t heat it up as the gust of wind was coming through the gaps in the window. Couldn’t even warm up as the shower wouldn’t heat past luke warm. The room was also disappointing and needed a good refurb. It looked like a premier inn in the photos which is all we needed for one night but the photos made it look better than it was. Only paid £59 but expect basic heating and hot water for this price.
