Guest Reviews
- joea852 (2/5): Worse Hotel in the World - The worse hotel we have ever stayed in our entire lives. No TP, No Soap and a room that the heat never got above 65 degrees. Parking lot and sidewalks never cleared of snow. No phone in the room. We do not believe the room was cleaned. We didn't even sleep in the bed but on top of the comforter. We only stayed here because of a snow storm that shut down the freeway and we had no other option. The room key didn't work they had a maintenance man let us into the room.
- G6489IDkathys (2/5): Nasty room - Very disgusting smells like cigarette smoke roaches on the bathroom counter crawling around no toilet paper no towels or soap to wash your hands the bedsheets were not clean carpet was dirty look like it had never been vacuumed, please avoid this place broken down car with flat tires all beat up with the doors open and no plate on it. We didn’t feel safe there and was scared we would come out in the morning to our car being stolen our beat up.
- Jafeth_Gy (2/5): STAY AWAY HEALTH HAZARDq - Note: The only we stayed here was because of a snowstorm. As soon as we entered the room we could instantly smell the smell cigar it was disgusting and made me wanna throw up the carpets aren’t even vacuumed the sheets are stained, everything in this room smells like smoke. They didn’t toilet paper in the room and no soap to wash your hands and a singular towel in a room that is meant for 4 people. The bathtub is dirty and their is nothing that has been cleaned and they are not following any guidelines it is literally a health hazard. THIS HOTEL SUCKS AVOID AT ALL COSTS HEALTH HAZAR
- 547frankiel (2/5): Yuck - Roaches
Usually stay here when visiting family. This time room had roaches.
They also own the super 8.
Didn't even offer an apology.
Other than the bugs the room was clean .
They are recording the hotel ,some what. Guys out there working till 3 am.
Talked to one and they said they was bombing the rooms at 12am . Who does that knowing the roaches are going to go in other rooms when people are in them.
- jonathonw938 (10/5): Great place and staff is super nice - 5 stars very affordable and everyone of the staff is very nice and made me feel like family I have been here several times and it’s always the same way if I am visiting in monteagle I’m coming here everytime . You all should check it out
- Brett (4/5): Yuck - Nothing ready, not enough towels, pillows, nobody ever at front desk, free breakfast was a joke.
- Edward (2/5): They should rent by the hour - First was the wait for the service desk (20 min) Then was the wait to get our keys (20 min) Then was the guy with a leaf blower blowing cement dust over EVERYTHING and then we lost power for over an hour.
- mistulayhrw (10/5): Mountain inn - The stay was so nice and quiet and the beds were completely clean and had good central air. The room service was too nice . They people around were very good mannored and they were very welcoming . I would deff come back anytime I can
- itravelformusic (8/5): - for an inexpensive motel it was very nice. clean and maintained
- jimmysee2 (2/5): This place is a DUMP, avoid at all costs!!! - I reluctantly booked two rooms here for Sewanee Family Weekend only because there were no rooms available anywhere else. There is nothing clean, comfortable or decent about this place. No tp in my room, towels are threadbare and there were very few of them. The women in our group were traumatized by the place and were afraid to shower there. I lost complete credibility with my daughter in law by booking rooms at this place. Staff is friendly, I'll give you that, but when I asked for toilet paper she gave me one roll! Note to future self and to anyone reading this: drive 30 mins to a decent hotel.
- joycelJ6336UW (10/5): Quiet and peaceful - After driving all day this place was a hit. Great AC fast service good location for food comfy beds great showers and I really slept better than ever. I was shocked at how clean and organized everything was inside the room.just a perfect stay and affordable
- Stevehill456 (10/5): Home type of feel - I felt very comfortable here at this hotel. Guests and staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were way nicer than I expected. The beds were made up and the room smelled so fresh. The shower had excellent pressure and tempature. Highly recommend this hotel
- charlieandcrystaln (10/5): Excellent - While traveling I enjoyed my stay. I liked how the Staff was very friendly and the hotel offered great amenities such as free breakfast with the eggs biscuits with sausage and gravy. Additionally there Were vending machines with great selections and most importantly there was a laundry center.
- michellerF8499BD (10/5): Great stay - As a frequent traveler, I stop at this hotel many times, and there is always something improved every single time I come. The staff is friendly and helped me with everything I needed. The rooms are clean and good wifi. Stay here if you want to save money
- James56we (10/5): Great Stay - I stayed here due to a long journey, and was able to get a great priced hotel room that was clean and offered the best price in town. WiFi was fast and the tv offered lot of channels. The staff was friendly and went out of the way to help me unload my car!
- 759rolandc (10/5): Wondefful Stay - I was traveling through here and was looking for place to stay. The place was clean and offered everythin I needed. I liked the friendliness of the staff. The rooms had great wifi and offered a lot of t.v. channels for the guests!
- cdub333 (4/5): Good location, nice staff, broken-down facility - The idyllic-sounding Mountain Inn is just off the Interstate (behind the Waffle House & Super 8). The desk staff was pleasant and chatty, and the room was quiet, but those were the high points.
The room had no towels and perilously little TP. The towel rack was broken, as were the AC and coffee-maker. Grungy shower curtain & bedspread. The concrete parking lot was cracking, and something dripped all night onto the sidewalk from the room above me.
There was no breakfast (only a lukewarm pot of coffee). The desk staff told me there was no breakfast because then they’d need to install sinks and besides, Waffle House is right there!
- Patricia (2/5): A dump - This place is a dump. Thete is mo breakfast. Don't stay there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was really close to the caverns. That was the main reason for our stay. The rooms were not the cleanest and out dated but was great for what we needed it for.
- O709DLerich (10/5): Excellent Stay - I stayed here for a night, and liked the staff. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I liked the rooms, they had great beds which were comfortable and relaxing. I liked the new office, which was remodeled recently and the wifi was fast! Recommend anyone to stay here!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Everything is worn out - Great air conditioner. Toilet and sink we're clean.
- Rose (6/5): Don't waste your money - Location was ok since I was not familiar with the area. The room neat but smelled and it was not a musty smell either. No towels, washcloths, or bath mat. Had to track down cleaning person. Was told not enough linens to leave in all rooms. Had to wait until following day for a bath mat. Soap was left in the shower from previous tenant. Very small refrigerator was filthy, ice box's ice was brown. Carpeting had multiple cigarette burn holes and was filthy. Wore my socks and had to throw them away because they turned black after walking on the carpet. Air conditioner smelled horrible. Was kept up late Friday night because of police and rescue squad outside my room. Will not ever stay there again. Wasted money.
- anonymous070795 (2/5): Keep driving - I have stayed at this hotel previously and was always satisfied but that is not the case this time. I don’t know what happened - perhaps there is new management. The room was poorly maintained. The carpet was very grimy and the bedspread gave me the willies. Room service was nonexistent, despite reminders. Staff members were not on site and we had to call for assistance. Even after calling and getting someone to come over, promises to remedy issues were unfulfilled. Towels were not much thicker than paper towels. Old furniture, counters, and appliances sit outside various rooms. After seeing that mess, I should have turned around. It really is a disaster. I wish I could rate it lower than one star. Do not stay here- you are throwing your money away.
- V7577DAshannonr (10/5): Great Service! - I stayed at this hotel for a week and was staying in room 139, and was very pleased with my stay. Clean rooms, great housekeeping, also very friendly owner and all staff is friendly. I recommend anyone to go ahead and grab a room at Mountain Inn!
- knucklesjkl (10/5): Great Stay - My friends and I were going to the caverns and saw this hotel that was the only vacant one, and their rates were reasonable. This hotel offered everything that I was looking for. The beds are comfortable and more importantly the staff is amazing!
- Grigsby1 (10/5): Marvelous - Best Hospitality we've ever seen she was so helpful and very sweet and kind we recommended to everyone and the room is very clean and cool and homey feeling and the hospitality you can't beat it the owner is very wonderful
- WilM652 (8/5): Exceeded my expectations for the money. - It was advertised $37.99 for single, $42 for a double, and that’s not much. But when we got there I was pleasantly surprised. The room had new bathroom counter tops, flatscreen tv, micro. Had a musty smell which disappeared after running the AC with no knobs on it, which involved some guesswork for finding the right settings. The bathroom had not been renovated but was sorta clean. I wouldn’t take a bath there, which they didn’t want you to do anyway since they removed the stopper, but a shower was nice. I wish the mattresses were better and pillows too. All in all it was quiet, safe, and extremely nice people, and I would stay there again.
- Geraldine (8/5): - our stay was an overnight stay, long drive from Wisconsin to Florida just wanted to sleep. It was very quiet and the bed was comfortable.
- Gail (4/5): Don't give this a second look. - Charge was $89.95/night when it is normally $39.95/night due to some music festival we were not attending in the area, Although the beds were clean the whole place smelled of some air-freshener mto cover up the stale smoke smell. The shower area was poorly repaired and sloppy looking so none of us felt good about showering in the morning. The free breakfast was nothing more than coffee, juice and individually packaged danish you can buy at a gas station, not to mention that they were almost out of coffee at 8 am and not willing to make more. The coffee maker in the room was broken and the place was noisy. I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me.
- Henry (8/5): A Good Motel for the Price - My wife and I have stayed here several times over the years, for three or four days and sometimes for as much as a week. It's an older motel, but clean, and our room for this last stay was as always quite comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Their WiFi was more than adequate for browsing the web, although I never tried to do any HD streaming, so I can't vouch for that. There are plenty of great places to eat close by, and quite a few attractions in the Monteagle area.
- Raymond (8/5): Monteagle inn stay - The hotel is an older one. It is clean and quiet. Will stay there again if I travel back to the same area.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - “Non-smoking” room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Ice machine didn’t work. I probably won’t be staying there again.
- Ronald (8/5): Comfortable place to sleep! - This is decent hotel for this price range!
The beds were very comfortable and clean, the water was hot in the shower and the people were nice. We are staying again next week on our trip home!
- Russell (8/5): Clean and quiet - Great price clean room and quiet. That was what I was looking far and that was what we found. Not the easiest to find. We were in and out with a Deneen hour stay and would do it again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Adequate but "Breakfast" of coffee mini muffin and OJ was less the adequate
- jack (2/5): piece of trash hotel - woke up to bed bug bites all over my body in this dirty room
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay - Hotel was booked for family member fleeing Irma. Pleasant stay with pet-friendly non-smoking room. Manager was very gracious & understanding in last minute booking, ect, that results from emergency travel. Thank you Sir!
- zj (2/5): - The hotel was full of mold, literal blood stains in the carpet.. the owners cheated me out of money and wouldn't let me cancel my second day. I tired to cancel both upon arrival ( I booked two days online while evucating a hurricane) the first day they wouldn't let me cancel due to me arriving after 5 they said.... So I said fine cancel the second. No problem, do it at check out the owner tells me, then at check out he says it's too late for a refund even though I tired to cancel the day before. Just terrible. Also their sign days 34.95 but during a hurricane it's 110.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is a nice clean and affordable hotel to stay in. It has been renovated through the years. We have stayed at this hotel every year for the last 11 years while visiting our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids and will probably continue to stay there as long as my daughter lives in Monteagle.
- Verified traveler (8/5): surprisingly clean - Was surprisingly clean for the price
- C. (8/5): Quality Motel for the Price - This motel exceeded expectations. All the amenities you can expect for the affordable price. The price was economical, the wifi worked well, the amenities and cleanliness were above par. If I really wanted to nitpick, I'd mention the lack of an ironing board. The office staff did lend out an iron, but was mighty difficult to iron without the board. Nonetheless, the area seems fairly safe; good lighting in the room and in the parking lot. I stayed for one night part of a leg of my trip to Nashville. I wouldn't mind staying there again.
- Alice (4/5): Bug free, ac and TV works - Had to get a room, nothing else available. Smokers room, everything is worn out , very old.... But there were no bugs and the ac worked well. Price was high considering state of room.
- Joe (2/5): they claimed my Expedia reservation had been cancl - I showed up with my Expedia conformation in hand. they said it had been canceled due to my credit card being denied. But the had a room for $17.00 more I could get.
When I walked out they cut the price by $10.00. they are a rip off
- George (4/5): Below average - I would not recomment booking a room here.
Only if you are desperate .
- William (2/5): Least Expensive for a Reason - This motel is directly behind another motel which looks much nicer. It was very shabby and not terribly clean and does not have very many customers because of its scary appearance. Most offensive was that the odor of the room (from an overdose of horrible air freshener) was so terrible that I had to have the room changed (and the second one had the same problem to a lesser degree) by a fairly nice employee. This is not exaggeration, as a little air freshener is fine and doesn't bother me. Here, the horrible fumes were noxious and intolerable. There are one or two other motels very close by which look MUCH better on the outside, but clearly would have cost more. In this case it would have been smarter to choose the more expensive accommodation. This motel is in the middle of nowhere on the top of a mountain which may explain quite a bit. If you have to go here, choose a more expensive accommodation.
- Billy (2/5): NIGHT MARE AT MOUNTAIN INN - arrived to check in and had to stand outside while owners wife used my phone to call owner to come open door for us to check in.then said my card declined and would charge extra $5,upon calling my card company and was told no charges were even summited.got in room ready for bed started to plug into outlet it shorted and all lights were out.,instead of offering different room owner went somewhere and flipped breakers back on,then when I checked my bank statement they charged $1 more than hotels.com had said.WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN'
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Needed a hotel for the night great location nice flat screen tv right off the highway
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - Good clean place to stay for a recent conference nearby. Was greeted by friendly staff who efficiently processed my reservation. Reasonable rates. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll stay there again.
- Michelle (6/5): - IT WAS LATE WHILE TRAVELING AND I WAS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SLEEP THE HOTEL IS TUCKED BEHIND ANOTHER HOTEL SO WE STOOD IN LINE AT THE WRONG HOTEL. THEY SAID THEY SERVED BREAKFAST WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A PACKAGED MUFFIN, AN EMPTY CARAFE OF OJ, AND BAD COFFEE. however, THE BED WA COMFORTABLE AND THE WATER IN THE SHOWER WAS HOT!
- Henry (8/5): Thank you - Just what I needed on my trip
- Fred (8/5): - Motel was clean, secure, busy and felt safe. It is old, and very basic, but everything worked. It's a little hard to find, located in the back parking lot behind the Super 8.
- Gretchen (4/5): - It was ok, not very clean and loud noises through the night
- Terry (8/5): Good - It's an older property but it suited my needs for ample parking. The room was clean and big. I don't know if the amenities were functional because all I did was check-in, sleep, and leave. I would stop again when passing through. It was a good value.
- Sammy (2/5): Gross - This was the worst place I have ever stayed. There was fecal matter on the bottom of the bed, gross. The walls were the dirtiest I ever seen. Staff acted if nothing was wrong. Very disappointed, and very disgusting.
- Judy (6/5): - This motel had condition issues. Carpet no5 flat, holes in the walls in the bathroom, dirt between bedside table and bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a excellent stay no bothers very quiet owners where very very nice anything we needed they got never where they rude of any kind my room was clean. I honestly think though for such a very pleasant cheap clean place they should be out in the opening more then behind another hotel I would very much recommend others to this hotel.
- susan (6/5): Convient and clean - Not resort quality but friendly hotel keepers, room size unexpectedly large, and convenient to interstate. I would stay there again.
- John (8/5): A convenient and inexpensive motel - Older motel, but comfortable and really low priced. Manager was friendly and helpful. (If you want fancy, then spend twice the price (or 3x) and stay elsewhere..).
- Verified traveler (2/5): Smoke smell in no smoking room. - Smoke smell, mildew in bathroom, frayed carpet. Pealing paint. No breakfast. Others in same price range at other locations better value!!!!
- Justin (6/5): - We stay here 2-3 times a year when travelling to Monteagle. It's always reasonable and it's pet friendly.
- anonymous (2/5): Keep Drivin. - I stay in 2-3 hotels every week and the Mountain Inn is the worst I have been in in 35 years. Keep drivin to another exit. Don't stay here.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Road trip pit stop - Good place to stop on a road trip.
- Leslie (6/5): Bring your own sheets and pillow - Bed sheets were ugly and nasty. Used my own pillow and blanket. Power plugs were inconvient. Nasty smell that I would not go away. Tv gave loud buzzing noise but the neighbors worked fine and loud. Staff smoked around the rooms. Everything worked other than that.
- Josh (8/5): Cheap but Clean and Friendly - Drove all day, so just a quick rest before getting back on the road early the next morning. Cheap hotel. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Not nearly the nicest or luxury, but clean and cheap. Great for a snooze.
- Debra (8/5): - My husband stayed here 2 years ago on a solo trip. It was fine for just having a place to rest and sleep after a day of hiking and sightseeing.
- Verified traveler (6/5): What I would expect at this price point - Very no frills accommodations in an older facility. Convenient to highway, pet friendly. The owners were exceptionally kind and I would rate my experience as a good one.
- Verified traveler (2/5): the hotel i wish i never again - it was bad was over charge for that was there and our price is not we had to pay , the hotel had wall paper coming off the walls had to ask for more towels and when i say that the room for 4 that 2 towels in it , and the room did not come very a clock in it , please we need not talk about the management , look i would go on about this place but as for booking though you we the trents which michael and june all we get from this site issomewhat misleading .
