Guest Reviews
- Maria Elena S. (8/5): Quaint and comfortable - Property is clean but too much work for just one person who had been gracious and available to address our needs 24/7
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We stayed in two different rooms, with a total of 8 beds and every single one of them was dirty
- Ryan (4/5): - The place smelled, beds weren't comfortable. Almost wasn't able to get checked in because no one answered the door. Saw spiders around in the complex and apartment. Pretty loud too.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Cigarette butts all around the entrance, a strong smell of marijuana in the foyer and corridor. No towels in the bathroom.
We asked 3 times for towels, twice on our arrival day and the following morning when they were promised in 15 minutes but never arrived. In the end we just couldn’t wait to get dressed and leave. An excuse about the dryer not working and lack of towels because of a busy weekend was given. The curtain was just nailed up in the main bedroom. If I hadn’t paid up front I’d have walked out. This standard of apartment shouldn’t be advertised on a reputable site
- Stephen (6/5): Poor communication/staffing - Staying in the area for work.
Catering equipment and sleeping facilities were great for the money.
Overall a mild stay, quiet although on a main road.
Staff not around unless you call the mobile number on the front door to summon them.
Locked out due to staff not telling me how to get back in (code boxes next to front door for a different key from the key they gave me)
Shower cubical had mould over the silicone and didn't drain water until atleast a half hour after the shower. Sofa on the living room was ripped in several places.
I have asked for a receipt twice at reception and once via email to claim this on my expenses, they haven't done this and I cannot claim it back from my work leaving me out of pocket.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The rooms floor was dirty had not been cleaned, the sofa lounge for the third person had a big spring sticking out and exposed and no sheet supplied, tried to find a way to contact management to organise for something to be done but no one came until the night we were leaving and that was only because we chased after the supposed cleaner who knew little English. The TV was not working at first and I had to go ring outside front door buzzer for the cleaner to come to look at the TV who again knew nothing about it and was going to get someone to come look at it later, that never happened.
- Jason (10/5): Definitely stay again - Small hiccup with rooms, gave us 1 room apt instead of 2 but then gave us 2 singles. Apartments were nice, the lady was really friendly and would talk to you, about 10-15mins from town in a taxi. Would definitely recommend to family, very accommodating even at 2.30am when I woke the lady up for a duvet, she was very polite and helpful
- Philip (10/5): Great apartment at Gateshead - I arrived on the Sunday evening to be greeted by a friendly young man. He ensured I was happy with the apartment. The apartment consisted of good clean shower and toilet area, fair sized kitchenette/living room with TV and all amenities including washing machine, microwave, cooker, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer and ironing equipment. The bedroom was large and comfortable.
A great stay and yes the next time I travel to this part of the country I'll be stopping there again.
- Eliane (6/5): Great location. But very tired property - We chose this as it was the cheapest. Location is perfect for the metro. So we were happy with that. But the condition of the apartment was pretty bad. The sofa (only seating in the apartment) was broken. We only saw reception staff once during the whole stay. (He was helpful when we checked in - we were only left with one glass)
- Daniela (8/5): Family visit - Lovely stay in the apartment. Remember to take a few cooking items such as frying pan if you are eating in. Very clean apartment. Bed very comfortable n Philip was very attentive would stay again
- Barbara (10/5): Perfect for families or people on celebrations - My mother and I booked for 5 days, we stayed here as the location was perfect for getting to Gateshead & Newcastle, as the bus and Metro service was 2 minutes outside the front door. We did however have a bit of a family crisis on the first night, and the staff there couldn't be more helpful and totally understood our situation. Hats off to them. Thank you very much for all your help. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.
- Eghbal (2/5): Felt like I was in prison - 2 bedroom apartments wasn’t good felt like I was in prison no view at all and we paid a lot more to get a good view.we had flat in back side of building no view at all was jus like wall .secound flat windaws wasn’t double gazing .We felt all noise and wind sound also.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay, clean, good condition only 10 mins on metro to centre of Newcastle. Traffic quite noisy at night as next to road and no double glazing.
- NEIL (10/5): A Most Relaxing Trip - Really friendly staff and perfectly placed for us to get the metro to Kingston Park to watch the Falcons,
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not as nice as pictures suggest! - Booked this work stay based on the pictures on the booking site. Was very disappointed with the actual room but on reflection the price was cheaper than you would expect for an apartment. Lots of noise throughout the evening due to other residents banging doors and talking in corridor. Room faced the main road which was very noisy, particularly as the windows were not doubled glazed. Location was residential so a distance from restaurants etc. Felt like the accomodation would be used as emergency accomodation.
Shame as the building has a lot of character and potential if the owners were to invest.
- Ashly (8/5): - I liked that we were close to the metro station. The appartment served our purposes and we werent bothered by anyone. We didnt like that it wasnt the cleanest when we got there and everytime someone opened a door it would slam and you can hear it loud and clear in the unit
- Jo (6/5): The Apartment Company - This apartment block is on a very noisy road from both traffic and late night revellers. This was made worse in our instance as when we arrived the windows were wide open and we had to leave them open for the duration of our stay because the people who had been in the apartment before us obviously smoked (we could still smell it when we turned up at 6pm). When we arrived the girl who came down to see to us had no shoes on and was not sure where our apartment was. We booked the apartment for 3 people and asked how the sofa bed worked but she wasn’t sure (she did come in and try to help us though). Although the apartment was booked for 3 people there were only 2 pieces of every crockery and glassware and 2 pieces of every cutlery. Having said all of that, the apartment was adequately furnished and had everything you needed (it was exactly what it said it was). We will not be booking with them again but I am sure it is perfectly acceptable depending on what you want.
- Donald (8/5): - The apartment was good, clean and the staff were helpful. The only criticism would be that the windows could not be opened for fresh air or the get rid of cooking smells
- Jamie (4/5): Poor - Dirty wall, heating on in July, echoing rooms, dirty bathroom floor. And smelt like someone had been smoking in the room too
- Brian (6/5): Didn’t suit my needs but might suit yours. - Nice concept as an apartment with easy access to public transport but nothing to do in the local area and loads of nutters driving really fast in motorcycles. Apartment rooms were fine but impossible to watch tv in lounge due to it being on a side wall in relation to the sofa. Easy enough to check in and out withvery good parking. I stayed here with my son as we were going to a football match in Newcastle and I he wanted a separate room, next time though I will book hotel rooms as this apartment idea didn’t suit our needs.
- Simon (8/5): A bit of a diamond in the rough! - Friendly welcome from helpful staff in a clean and well sized apartment for the money. "Living area" is well thought out and has a kitchen, dining table, and a settee which is durable rather than soft and cozy!
Everything worked as expected although single glazing on the ground floor facing a road could probably be improved on, but we don't pay the heating bill and it was never cold.
Beds large and comfy in a simple bedroom - read "no TV and wardrobe is a rail hanging on the wall"
Area around the apartments not the nicest - you wouldn't go for an evening stroll around here - but it's close to two Metro stations, convenient for Sunderland, Newcastle and of course Gateshead and the Metro Centre. More than suited our needs and we will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Family stop off - Perfect one night stay for our family as a stop off on a long journey.
- tracey (2/5): Didn’t even stay. So bad. - Arrived phoned number on door lovely staff gave us number for key box. Entered apartment 5 the smell of damp was horrendous. They had plug in air fresheners in the hallways. The bathroom stank. The kitchen had a very tired setee. Dirty walls and doors. Old food left in the microwave we had a 8 month baby with us we turned round and left. Not sure what the building was before think council offices. Found out after it was mostly used for hen and stag do. Phoned the number on door explained very apologetic staff was given full refund.
- Sonia (6/5): average stay - everything ok but only average
- Alysson Luis (10/5): Senti-me em casa! - O apartamento é ótimo, amplo e equipado. Estava com criança de 2 anos, cozinhamos todos os dias. O hotel fica próximo ao metrô e há todas as facilidades por perto. Os funcionários são super gentis e prestativos.
- J (6/5): Passable - At first they put is in a room where the heating wasn't working at all, in November with temperatures of about 0°C. It turned out they already knew it wasn't working but hadn't told us. When we complained, they did then give us a different room, but it begs the question of why they put us there in the first place.
It is not high quality accommodation, the windows are very thin and you can hear street traffic noise. Given it is mostly used by people on stag and hen weekends etc (whereas we were just visiting family nearby), I was worried about noise from other rooms but I have to say we didn't hear anything and didn't have any problems. And once they'd changed our room, it was certainly warm enough. The kitchen seemed to be functional though we didn't really use it. The shower room was small but ok, but not the cleanest.
Location wise, there's very little in the area itself but it's not too far from a metro station and taxis to Newcastle city centre are generally easy to book and not expensive. There is limited parking (but enough when we were there), off-street but at the front of the building.
- Nichole (10/5): Home from home - The apartment was clean with almost brand new everything. Home from home and everything I needed at my fingertips. Will use again if up this way. Great communication from host regarding keys etc.
- Aunty Jim (10/5): Champagne on a beer budget - It felt a lot more expensive than what we paid. It was great! Clean. Well appointed. Comfortable beds. Quiet room. Comfortable lounge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good place to stop - A refreshing change from a room at a hotel. The apartment is well kitted out, clean and comfortable.
- Peter (10/5): Great and very welcoming staff - Very nice and welcoming management and always happy to help with any request I had .
Would definitely recommend.
- Suhaimi (8/5): Hotel ini dimiliki oleh muslim - Memuaskan dan menepati harga bilik
- Rosemary (8/5): - clean & served my purpose
- theCultureStars (4/5): Disappointing Accommodation; filthy&broken - Apartment wasn't Cleaned from previous guests. Floors&furniture filthy, litter everywhere, STANK of cigarette smoke!!! Bathroom tap broken, shower tap extremely difficult to use. No hot water.
Staff v apologetic, came to clean. Water turned on, but then only Luke warm!
Disappointing stay, but Newcastle was FRIENDLY&FABULOUS!
- Allan (10/5): Great room - Good couple of nights stay will defo stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great apartment for the price - The apartment was great, very easy check on process despite arriving late. The room was huge, with a seperate lounge and kitchenette. We were there for a Saturday night and some of the other guests were quite loud but we did expect that.
- Raheel (10/5): Helpful large apartment - Excellent service.
- Daniela (10/5): Newcastle stay - We all had a lovely stay. Very modern clean apartment. Couldn't find any fault
- Ashley (6/5): clean modern but could be better - Arrived 5.30-6pm,doors were locked(good for security)but id expect that arrival time the doors would be open/staffed. I rang the bell, knocked on the door & rang the telephone twice but no answer.Eventually another guest was coming out and we finally managed to enter and then two staff came to reception and we could check in. Booked a 2 bedroom apt which was modern in an old building on ground floor which was clean/tidy. Kitchen was new & equipped with washer, microwave, hob, fridge & basic utensils except the most important thing-a wine bottle opener! The windows in both bedrooms and kitchen are single glazed so traffic noise was like the window was constantly open.Big kitchen window had no curtains/blinds so houses across the road had view into the living/kitchen area. Living area is an extension of the kitchen & most uncomfortable sofa in the world, a breakfast bar and TV. Bathroom is probably the best bit of the apartment with large shower area and an amazing rain shower, but no toilet roll holder? Beds surprisingly comfortable but need better/extra pillows, we did attempt to get additional pillows 3 times but we must have been the last people to check in and appears the staff left for the day even though still well within the hrs they say reception is manned. There is a small rail with a few hangers but no bedside cabinet/drawers to store clothes or lamp. Overall stay was ok, we didn't spend too much time there but just a few finishing touches could make it so much better
- Alan (8/5): Good Value Apartment - Modern Apartment with fairly well equipped kitchen. No wifi signal when I arrived but booster was placed in apartment and that solved the problem
Had booked 1 bed and was given 2 bed which was good although no real benefit for me as was alone. Seating area was just sofa in the kitchen adequate for me as I was alone but for bigger group imagine it would be cramped
Few more utensils in kitchen would be useful, e.g. Kitchen Knife/knives for food prep?
Bit more attention to detail on cleaning also needed, apartment was a bit dusty in some areas.
Otherwise good value if compared with hotel especially flexibility given by kitchen facility to prepare food and do laundry.
- I (8/5): How all apartments should be :) - Short stay on the way to Scotland, beautiful apartment and great service from the staff even though I checked in very late. Wireless signal was a bit weak in the apartment but 4G signal is pretty good in the area so wasn't bothered all that much.
- Jones family. (8/5): Close to local metro station. - This apartment was ideal for us as a family. Close to the local metro station & supermarket. We used it as a base for exploring the North East & was only a short journey to Beamish museum which was the main reason for our visit. Everything we needed was provided in the apartment except could have done with a sweeping brush/mop & bucket to keep on top of the cleaning as there were no carpets. All in all a lovely place to stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok - Ok apartment for the money but out of town and needed cleaned.
- Sharynne (8/5): Brand new interior in a lovely old town hall - We stayed 2 nights and would recommend this place to anyone wanting a bit of space to spread out. The interiors are funky and very new, and the shower was excellent! Despite being on a main-ish road, we found it nice and quiet. The staff were lovely and helpful, letting us check in early (very appreciated after a very early flight). A convenient walk to the train, shops not too far away. Our only problem was actually finding the place! As is often the case in England, there was no street number on the building. Nor on our booking confirmation. The "Apartment Company" sign is just a very small one near the doorway, not noticed when driving by. Even the locals were unaware of it's existence! Maybe note on your advert that it is the old Town Hall building?
- Claire (10/5): Lovely staff! - Lovely stay and staff, especially the lady at the front desk were amazing too us. Very friendly and couldn't help us enough. Was a bit annoyed that the oven tray had obviously been used by the last people who stayed in the room and was still covered in a huge layer of fat and grease. Apart from that, lovely place!
- ali (2/5): Bad experience in Newcastle - I booked this hotel( 12 nights) 4 months ago and when I checked in the apartment was dirty like nobody live in it for a long time. We waited an hour to get our apartment clean. The cleaning of apartment was too bad and during this period they only cleaned the apartment one time.
There was NOT any WiFi signal in our apartment only in the reception.
Staff were unfriendly specially the Pakistani/indian girl.
Wc was broken and was too hard to use it.
Kitchen equipments were too cheap and not useful for cook food at home. Even the apartment was for 4 people and equipments were not enough. I tried to checkout with only 6 days and contact (hotel.com) but they said that we had have to talk with the apartments owner who refused the issue, and we left two nights because we couldn't stay at this dirty apartment any more.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Stay - Great Apartments
- Mike (8/5): The Apartment Company - We arrived early but the staff were very accommodating. Parking was ok once we found it.
There was no blind or curtain on the main room. We were offered a change of room which was more private so we took that.
There were a few things we noticed missing over time, no cups, no plates, no bedside lights.
When we asked about the cups and plates they came straight away. There was no tea/coffee maker....one was advertised.....just a kettle.
We were asked to pay on arrival despite having been given an option when booking to pay on departure.
We found out that the place had only been open 2 weeks, which probably explains the niggles. It really did feel new.
Overall a great location, and a good price that we paid for an apartment for 4. The things that were missing were all fixable.
Its close to the metro, providing excellent public transport across the region, and only a few stops from Newcastle. We travelled for £8 in total (2adults 2kids), which wouldn't even cover the cost of parking in Newcastle, and you can even use those tickets to get kids in free to the Life Centre, saving £6 off a family ticket.
Would we stay again? Yes, absolutely. It's a great alternative to a city hotel, especially for a family of 4. I recommend it.
