Guest Reviews
- Charlton (2/5): - I've booked for two nights. At arrival they couldn't find our reservation to begin with. After waiting for 45 minutes the gave us a key to a room on the 1 floor. My room was the last on the corridor who was/in service. The other rooms after my room were out of service and there were safety shoes outside the room next to the open doors. In the corridor to my room ware a lot a bags with food leftovers in there corner. They stayed there for more than 30 hours. Thats how long we manage to stay there. In the hotel stayed like 50 construction workers who made sure we knew that they were present. They watched tv with their doors open till late in the morning. After eleven o'clock we went to the reseption to ask if the could stop working so we can get a good night sleep. After have an hour, they stopped. That night I barricade my door with my luggage and slept with my razor under my pillow. I travel a lot, but I have never felt so unsafe in my life.
There was no hot water, no INTERNET, warderobe door was broken, toilet was broken but funtional. In the shower was no shower head installed. Just a pipe out of the wall. The sheets were worn-out and dirty. The only good thing were the towels. We were so dissapointed with the stay, that after lunch we booked a hotel in Panama City and drove back.
- Anderson (2/5): - NO HAY TACTO DEPARTE DE LA ENCARGADA.
MAL ESTADO DE LAS INSTALACIONES
- Andrew (2/5): - Property claimed it did not take Expedia reservations
- Carlos (10/5): Meryland Hotel - Convenient location, clean, great service!!
I have stayed a couple of times. It is my first choice visiting Colon.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is my third time staying in this budge hotel, so far I have no complains but don’t expect any luxury’s. I recommend this hotel for a short stay.
- Cesar (6/5): - decent ...but staff is pretty unmotivated and breakfast poor.
- Mohammad (4/5): Disgusting. Awful cleanliness and poor safety - Cleanliness was terrible. My towels seemed to be the previous client's towels, they seemed used by someone else and the bathroom was dirty too. They didn't take the toilet paper away. A few minutes after I entered my room I found a guy trying to open the door with a key of my room!!! I complained and the desk front employee took this extra key from that guy. I was shocked.
I do not recommend this hotel at all
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The lobby area is nice, room was ok. Wifi did not work in the room but the AC worked well. We stayed there before going on a cruise. The hotel was ok, but Colon is terrible and not somewhere you want to stay for even one night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This hotel needs to work profusely in cleaning and customer service
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It is a very run down Hotel. The doors are falling off, the beds where breaking apart, it was very noisy, there is no way we could have slept there. As soon as we saw our room we canceld our resevation. The only good thing I can say is that the people at the frond desk where willing to refund us the payment.
- Luis (6/5): - MUY MAL SERVICIO , MALA ATENCION EN RECEPCION
- Dale (10/5): - Should haves higher rating
- dirks786 (6/5): Cheap and clean - Excellent value for overnight stay to catch cruise ship at nearby walking distance cruise ship terminal. Pre-booked single rate for room at $40.00/night. Room very basic, almost spartan but clean. Sheets smelled freshly washed. Staff friendly but Spanish speaking only.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - parking parking parking. space for parking was ok. parking was ok. parking was ok. parking was ok
- Cesar (8/5): - It doesn’t look like the pictures they show, the staff is great but the rooms are not so good
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didnt like nothing and will never go back there.
- Hallomega (4/5): Over priced and disappointing - I had one night at this property and had booked and paid for a room with large bed and breakfast. Check-in is not until 1500 and even then the room had not been serviced properly: I had to go hunting for hand and bath towels. I found some clean ones in a room still being serviced ... and then two more were delivered about 1700. The sheets were clean enough but the blankets on the beds were very tired and not terribly clean. Mt room (104 on first floor) had a window that opened onto a filthy outside of broken glass and scores of cigarette butts. There were insects - tiny cockroaches? - in the bathroom and in my bed. The night club was a little noisy - but not too intrusive. At 0730 there was no breakfast available - and no milk for the coffee served in the lobby. Cannot recommend this place for the price it charged.
- CAMILA (8/5): Bom - O hotel em geral é bonzinho.
- elvin (8/5): nice hotel in decent location with great security
- nice hotel in decent location with great security
- flowerchildKent (4/5): Avoid Colon! - Rooms and bathrooms were not really clean, I'd have expected better at these rates.
Breakfast was supposed to be included but it was just a sausage in a plain, dry bun and not very good coffee.
The WiFi connection never worked in the room and it was on and off downstairs. To go up to the rooms you needed a special code which wasn't given to you so the staff had to let you in every time. You had to go up some stairs to reach the lift behind one of them glass screens.
Colon is the worst city I've ever seen and, by the sounds of it, also one of the world's most dangerous, as everyone said you couldn't even walk round the corner in daylight! One taxi driver said the day before our arrival an 11 year old girl had been killed after getting caught in crossfire between two rival gangs shooting at each other! The city streets look like something out of a horror movie, with the exception of the Free Zone and area near the cruise ship port, which was the reason for going there. Avoid and stay in Panama City instead.
- Isabel Cecilia (8/5): - Bien.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible - The room had a funny smell. Toilet seat broke shower leaking not safe. The hallways were dark lots of construction and no security
- I6803YCrichardc (8/5): quaint old world hotel with Panamanian flavor - The Hotel is an historic building is pretty good condition being improved and repaired to keep it in good shape. Luigi is the owner and he is very helpful and attentive. This is a good place if you wind up in Colon after dark like we did driving up from Panama City, visiting Ft San Lorenzo, eating and then not wanted to drive back to Panama City in the dark, Luigi will put your car In a locked parking area. And he will escort you to your room. Simple accommodations but comfortable enough (pillows need work). But hot shower and breakfast is available in the restaurant downstairs. The hallways are filled with Spanish conversation but it eventually quiets down.
- El Salvador (6/5): - Aceptable ir you are looking to be close to zona libre Colon
- Verified traveler (2/5): You guys doing JOKE they did not had my booking... - You guys doing JOKE they did not had my booking....no water for 2 days.
- JohnH258 (2/5): Looks nice but VERY bad town, Noisy, DARK - Maryland hotel looks nice from outside and isn't too bad when you go in BUT everything goes downhill when you get a room. The rooms are small and the celing light is so dim you can't see your keyboard. That's not a big problem because the "Free WiFi" is so weak and eratic that you can't connect enough for any purpose. The Elevator requires you to go down three steps to get to, then down a full flight of stairs to get from it to the second foor. Why have an elevator if you have to use stairs to get to it? The halls outside the elevtor have NO lighting so it's easy to fall and get hurt at night.
The people at the hotel told us NOT to walk anywhere, even across the park, to get to the mini-mart. The crime there is unbeleavable. The "Free Zone" is a rip off. Higher prices than the the duty free shops at the airport plus a minimum of $15.00 to ship your purcheses to the airport so you acn pick them up on your way out of thr country.
- elienev_13 (4/5): nice rooms but no internet - the hotel rooms were ok, one of the best beds we have slept in in Panama. although the first room we were in could not close the window, so we had to change. however, the big downside of our stay was that the internet connection was down for the 3 days that we were there. As there is nothing really to see in colon during evenings, we were counting on some calm evenings to plan the rest of our trip, which was now impossible. Also we could not pay with visa due to this internet problem. As it was one of the more expensive hotels, we would have expected a more profesional solution to this problem, or at least a discount, but this was not the case. Furthermore, the staff does not speak english at all.
