Guest Reviews
- Lauren (10/5): - Staff were friendly, room was spacious and clean with nice touches.
- JIM (10/5): - We stayed 3 nights at the Ethorpe. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to catch local buses to locations we wished to visit and also using the local buses to travel to Heathrow via routes 106 and 102 for 10 UK pounds! A & J, Canada.
- Susan (10/5): Attractive hotel just off main street in GX - Stayed here in a standard double room ,room was a good size beautifully furnished in a country inn style , excellent shower and comfortable bed, nice soft linen. Only issue pillows were very hard.
Tea , coffee and biccies of good quality, even a teapot! Bar area was warm and comfortable didn't have and evening meal but breakfast options were substantial and reasonably priced. Staff were all extremely pleasant and polite creating a welcoming atmosphere. Free and plentiful car parking for hotel guests at the back. Only 2 mins walk to the restaurants, bars &shops so great for our evening out. 5min to station if needed. Will definitely stay here again when next in Gerrards X
- Peter (6/5): Nice hotel poor bed - Hotel was nice, but bed and pillows were hard and we didn’t sleep very well
- Robert (10/5): - Great place to commute into London with less hassle
- Mike (8/5): - Bed comfortable but the hot spell made it unbearable to stay in the upper floor, thanks to the manager who arranged for us to move to a lower floor room. Everything else was enjoyable.
- Alexei (10/5): - Beautifully maintained hotel with great on-site dining option. Right in the heart of Gerrrads Cross, with access to shopping and grocery options. Walkable and close to the train station.
- Roy (10/5): - Only stayed 1 night , room was amazing (rm14) lovely large comfortable bed ,tea /coffee/biscuits in room , hotel was lovely ,staff very friendly , had breakfast, lots choices ,full English cooked to perfection, hotel in great location and also parking ,would definitely stay again .
- Peter (10/5): - Great hotel with superb interior decor in a central location with easy train access to Wembley and London. Free parking is a bonus.
- Iain (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay. Clean, spacious and quiet room with a good bar & restaurant downstairs. I was spending the day in London, so it was perfect: I was able to check in early, leave my car at the hotel car park and then have a very short walk to the station.
- Noel (10/5): - Spacious room and bathroom. Very clean.
- Sue (10/5): - A clean and comfortable hotel, friendly staff, good food.
- Andrew (10/5): - Very helpful waiting staff
- Jennifer (10/5): - We love staying here great access to London, lovely accommodation. The breakfast catered to all our needs, continental for the kids and cooked for adults. We love this place.
- Dave (10/5): - Enjoyed
- Ian (10/5): - Excellent hotel...stayed here a few times for the football at Wembley and had a great stay now its even better with the upgraded rooms...staffs always polite and food is lovely
- Diane (10/5): - Very nice hotel, there should be a sign for emergency contact during the night in the bedroom.
A nice touch would be a hand grab rail in the shower room
Very clean comfortable room.
- Jeremy (10/5): Staff friendly & helpful, rooms clean. - Nice hotel. Rooms are small but clean & comfortable. Staff all very friendly & helpful.
Real plus was the EV charging point in the carpark.
- Kim (10/5): - Room was clean, staff were helpful, it was near the train line but still quiet, and it was good value for money.
- Darren (10/5): Good Place. - Room was good, bed comfortable.
Food was also good.
- Austyn (10/5): - Great hotel! Very friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great - Very hotel, bette than expected and worth the money
- Kimberley (10/5): - Lovely old property. Friendly team
- Indya (10/5): 10/10 would stay again - Fab stay, loved the hotel, would stay again!
- Francine (10/5): - Loved the place, loved the room and bathroom!
- Andrea (8/5): - Stayed on business, I was fortunate to be upgraded to a superior room. It was lovely and spacious. Large bathroom with adequate amenities. Hairdryer, iron, kettle. The staff were friendly both in the hotel and the bar. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but went to Maliks (Indian) a 5 minute walk away.
- Eric (8/5): - The room was comfortable and I really liked the rain shower. Some traffic noise during the day but night is quiet. The restaurant is nice to have on-site along with the pub.
- Alan (8/5): - Very nice place to stay
- Jennie (8/5): Cozy winter get away - Lovely warm friendly and cozy. Clean too
- Gary (10/5): Christmas break - This is our fourth stay, we always have a great time. Rooms are lovely and clean. The staff always go above and beyond. We'll certainly be back soon.
- Ralph (8/5): The Ethorpe Hotel - The Ethorpe Hotel has had a makeover recently, the rooms have been done to a good standard but there is a problem with the plumbing, We were given a downstairs room but the corridors had a unwelcoming unpleasant smell in them and when the next door room flushed their toilet it bubbled up trough our shower drain in the bathroom. Meals were also served to a high qaulity
- Neil (10/5): - Always an excellent service and beautifully maintained hotel. Christmas dinner was excellent and the service was excellent especially from Michael.
- Alazhar (10/5): - فندق جميل يستاهل الزيارة مرة اخرى موظفين لطيفين وراقين
- Laura (8/5): - Really good location and in easy reach to the train station, which goes to central London.
Single room was comfortable for one, although shower cubicle was small, but useable. A shelf would have been handy inside the shower itself.
Check out time did not match my Expedia confirmation, but this did not affect me.
- david (10/5): - everything was fine , a massive improvement from a couple of years ago.
- STUART (10/5): - GOOD ROOMS / HELPFUL STAFF / NICE ATMOSPHERE
- Pippa (4/5): Too hot to sleep - The rooms were so styfullingly hot. Eventually I had to sleep on a wet towel with the window wide open as the radiator wouldn't quite turn off.
Beautiful roos, but essentially if you can't sleep it's not at all good
- Robert (10/5): - Great all round and good for Heathrow
- Diane (10/5): Great rooms - Really friendly , helpful staff in reception who were very accommodating. Hotel was exceptionally clean and inviting cleaning staff were so helpful especially when we forgot things ! Rooms were really well decorated and spotless. Parking was readily available and secure.
Bar area ,staff and standard of cleanliness of area was good
Group of loutish youths off- putting .
Reason we didn’t eat there as have encountered that here before.
Otherwise would recommend for stays in this area and for ease of access to London .
- Andrew (10/5): - We had a very short but comfortable stay, the room was quiet and the breakfast delicious. It was very good value for the money.
- Hannah (10/5): - Lovely staff, nice clean facilities and good location for what we needed
- Patricia (8/5): - Good price and convenient for family event at local venue. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast offering gave good choice and hot food was nicely cooked
- Stuart (10/5): - The Hotel is spotless with beautiful decor and is very welcoming
- Charlotte (10/5): Lovely place would recommend - Nice hotel recommended as we were visiting friends close by and we understood it had been recently renovated. Nice decor, comfy bed and lovely breakfast.
The only slight comment I would have is the pub area was so hot, all the radiators were on full blast even though the weather was still mild in September. Also it seemed strange as a pub hotel it didnt have a residents license so had to stop serving by 11. Perhaps thats just a local quirk and certainly wasnt a big issue was just a bit strange arriving back from cinema at 1050pm to be told the bar was closed.
All in all though a lovely stay and would stay there again.
- Trevor (10/5): - Nice comfortable hotel
- Ben (8/5): - Property advertised air conditioning but needs to make clear this is not available in the rooms.
- Peter Rudge (10/5): - What great value! My wife & I were in GX for a party and the Ethorpe exceeded any expectations. The room was excellent, and we had a very tasty breakfast of Eggs Benedict.
- Michael (10/5): - Travelling from Australia to visit son living in Gerrards Cross. Stayed at the Ethorpe 7 nights. Quality of room was excellent and staff took care to ensure our stay was comfortable. We enjoyed excellent and well priced meals in restaurant. Would definitely stay at the Ethorpe on our return to the uk.
- James (10/5): - Beautiful rooms, wonderful staff, terrific ambience! I've stayed here several times and it's always been wonderful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Few nights away for the family - All the staff were friendly, remembering things about us to help us feel even more comfortable. Offered help with ease, knowledge and a smile. Less than 5 minutes walk to the cinema and railway station. Great base to get into London, Harry Potter Studios or Wembley. Family room was lovely and pleasantly surprised that the two single beds were through a door off the main bedroom, rather than a sofa bed or similar.
- Chris (8/5): Great location and good rooms - The rooms have had a real transformation from when I last stayed 12 months ago. It’s disappointing that they removed the Air conditioning as the room was stuffy.
If you are going to Wembley for an event it’s the perfect location for travelling in and out by train.
- Andrew (6/5): Good location - Bedroom and ensuite were excellent but with the heat i needed A/C not a fan
- Steve (10/5): - Was really nice room food was excellent highly recommend
- Ben (10/5): - Was such a lovely stay , room was so clean and comfy . The food was great !!
- Stuart (10/5): - The eThorpe is much improved since the recent refurb. The only negative is the lack of aircon during warm weather. Some rooms have non-opening windows, and the provided fans only help so much. Otherwise it is great.
- john (10/5): - All in all very good
- Lee (10/5): - Beautiful room, high quality. Great food, staff were lovely and approachable.....10/10
- Andre (10/5): Ethorpe at Gerrards Cross - Good quality of accommodation and restaurant and bar attached. All at a fair price.
- Karen (10/5): - Lovely stay after a trip to Wimbledon.. Very friendly staff and well looked after at breakfast…
- Laura (10/5): Lovely hotel, restaurant and bar - Friendly staff and immaculate family room. Bathroom was very clean with seperate shower and rolltop bath. Really convient for our trip to Wembley, would definitely stay here again.
- Martin (8/5): Nice stay - It’s a nice hotel/pub venue. The rooms and bathrooms are very nicely finished and comfortable.
If I had one negative it’s that the weather was very hot and so with tiny windows that you could dearly open the room could do with air con rather than just a fan.
- vince (10/5): - Staff was excellent and very accommodating
- James (10/5): New look - Like the new look, very convenient for town
- Peter (10/5): - First ever visit to The Ethorpe but it certainly won’t be my last. Rooms and the hotel bar and restaurant have all been refinished to a very high spec with cleanliness to match.
Available free parking and easy access to the rail station make it a very convenient location
- Jenni (10/5): - The room was amazing and spotlessly clean.
The area is very quiet
- Claudine (10/5): - A Brit ex pat I am visiting for business and would stay here again, super clean rooms, the best clawfoot bath and huge shower. Gentlemen on check in more than helpful. Ladies in the restaurant excellent. Well done keep up the super customer experience I will be back! Claudine from Toronto
- Gary (10/5): - Excellent price, quality, location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely stay again. Recommend.
- Dawn (10/5): - I stayed in 3 different rooms and each room was perfect. The beds are really comfortable the bathroom is beautiful plenty of tea / coffee nothing is too much for the team who are so polite. I love this hotel anyone in Gerrards Cross this hotel is a must and lastly the restaurant food is simply delicious. A big big thank you to the wonderful team at Ethorpe looking forward to my next stay.
- Philip (10/5): - This is a great hotel to stay at if you are planning a trip to Wembley of even London centre. Hotel is 5 minutes walk from station. We had an excellent time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms look recently refurbished and were very comfortable. Overall an excellent hotel at reasonable price and would certianly recommend.
- Peter (10/5): - Nice spacious building, staff attentive and friendly, next door to the Train Station 20 mins to Wembley Stadium.
- Steven (8/5): - Very welcoming reception, excellent meal did have to wait 30 minutes though. well kept real ale.
- Rachael (10/5): - Friendly staff, nice personal touches, very clean and nothing too much trouble. Will definitely stay again.
- Dawn (8/5): - Lovely stay
- Ben (8/5): - Excellent accommodation, restaurant & service. Will definitely visit again.
- Neil (10/5): - Excellent hotel , stopped serving food a little early but not a problem.
- Neil (10/5): - Best hotel I've stayed in recently and have visited many in bucks over the last few weeks. Room beautifully decorated, facilities in the room were great. And a note with a couple chocolates on the bed on arrival, nice touch.
- Mary (6/5): - Building warm & inviting. Staff friendly & helpful.
Sadly was allocated ground floor room facing the car park/ unloading area & right on corridor noisy fire doors.
Persistent problems with WIFI, despite seeking help from staff, several times.
- William (10/5): - Very pleasant stay.
- Karl (6/5): - Lovely new decor food ok
Shower flooded my bathroom but was given an upgraded room immediately
- Athelstan (10/5): Great Hospitality - Great hospitality. All staff wanted to make sure i had a good stay. Would definately stay again!
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Amazing
- Adam (10/5): - I stay at hotels for work purposes at least 50% of the year. I can honestly say that the breakfast i had here was by far the best breakfast I've had in 2023. The bacon was prooerly char grilled on a griddle. Cant wait to come back.
- Pat (10/5): - the rooms were clean and nicely decorated .
Staff very friendly and helpful
- Mayra (10/5): Beautiful after refurbishment - The newly refurbished Ethorpe Hotel has been redone beautifully, while maintaining the very high standard of service by their employees. Happy to see this improvement as I stay at the Ethorpe frequently.
- Mandy (10/5): - This hotel suits our purposes perfectly. It has been refurbished and is close to shopping and close to Heathrow also. Parking is easy and the staff is very friendly. We will be back!
- Jessica (10/5): - Very charming place in a great location. Staff was extremely friendly. We loved our stay!
- Ian (10/5): - Great short stay. Will definitely use this hotel again
- Charlie (6/5): - It’s a bit paranoid that you won’t pay the bill but other than that quite good, breakfast finished too early
- MARTIN (6/5): - Stayed in Room7.
Tired and needs decorating.
Not worth £100 a night.
- Muhammad (10/5): - Every thing was alright but toilet flush was not working properly.
- Andrew (10/5): - Surprisingly quiet at night. Excellent parking facility. Comfy bed.
- Ann Maree (10/5): - Staff can't do enough for you, so helpful and cheerful. Very feel good place to stay. Comfortable and feels safe even when travelling alone. Good dining choices even for breakfast. A happy place. I would certainly stay there again. Thank you Ethorpe Hotel for a lovely week 😊 Very convenient for everything you could wish to do. I recommend you try it for yourself if you are reading this review! 😊
- andrew (4/5): - Great for convenience near train station. Town is very nice. Bar and restaurant areas were ok. Our bedroom needed a complete overhaul. Damp walls with wallpaper hanging off. Shower spraying from faulty nozzle. Just didn’t feel as if maintenance had been done.
- matthew (10/5): Great - Good service great comfortable room
- Brendan (10/5): - The staff all made a concerted effort to be friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever a hassle to them. I will be back next year when I am next in the UK
- Jeff (10/5): Great Location - The staff at the hotel were very welcoming friendly and hospitable, offering great advice about local attractions.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was very good value, excellently cooked and plenty of choice.
The hotel itself could do some with some updating. Rooms were clean and tidy and very spacious. The bathroom was clean but needed modernising.
The restaurant area and breakfast room were very nice but the bar area had ripped seating that had been taped to repair.
The outside of the building could do with a paint.
Overall though we really enjoyed our stay. Ideally located for Legoland and Warner Studios (20min drive) also London (25min train) a lovely small village with essential amenities. Definitely a good base for families.
- Murtaza (6/5): - Property is old but well maintained. No elevator so had to take our own luggage to the room while check in and at check out. Spotted big spiders every day in the bathroom and hotel room.
- Christine (10/5): Comfortable, somewhat old fashioned venue - I often choose the Ethorpe as a place to stay when I'm doing something in the area, or even making a trip to London (it's a short walk from the station with regular trains to Marylebone). The rooms are pleasant, the restaurant is good, and the general atmosphere is charming. Good value for money as well.
- andy (6/5): Very average - Very dated. No TV remote. Nice breakfast!
