Guest Reviews
- Guadalupe (10/5): - Is a Barry good ad
- Nasrisho (2/5): - I’m almost certain that the bed sheets on those beds have been there since the motel first opened — judging by the urine stains and the ‘design’. The place has clearly never been renovated, 100%. There’s even mold in the corners. It’s filthy — absolutely unbearable. I arrived at 1 a.m. and was too exhausted to go anywhere else. I ended up sleeping on two chairs. Just horrible, honestly.
- Buddy (2/5): - Furniture and bedding from 1980 walls dirty carpet had holes. Staff was kind and quickly refunded money
- Kimberly (2/5): - Stayed her overnight as it was the only hotel with availability. It is disgusting. You have to hold door handle to get in certain way or it will fall off. Room looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. Shower is beyond disgusting water smells. Handles are broken. Bed was broken. Furniture was sticky and dirty. Transients live here. This should not be on hotels.com. It’s an embarrassment to your service.
- Manuel (2/5): Over all horrible! - I do not understand how a place like that still operating it is a shame for the village, I will never stop at this Motel any more!
- Randy (2/5): - The room was totally disgusting. There wasn't a clean spot in the whole room. Mold, peeling paint, gross stains on walls, filthy carpeting, wouldn't take shower because the shower was totally disgusting with mold, stains, and dirt. The hotel is used as a cheep place to grab a quickie. It was evident through the night. Thin walls, you could hear everything going on in the rooms around you.
- Ed (2/5): - Water smelled, afraid to drink. Fixtures are corroded and leaked. It took 4 times to flush toilet b Light switch had Black electrical tape over it. After turning it on, it would go out automatically in about 1 1/2 hrs.
- Carolyn (6/5): - No dogs allowed, but there was an amazing doggie daycare right next door.
The water wasn’t clean (very brown). The room was in disrepair. The trimming was lose. The tv didn’t get great reception.
Not worth the price in my opinion. I could have stayed in a nicer location in St Charles for $20 that allowed dogs.
- Kevin (2/5): - shower was gross, it has debris and stains in its. the toilet camp on running for at least 5 to 10 minutes after flushing. The electrical outlets we're unsafe. It did not have covers. The broom had a foul order
- Anthony (2/5): - Just a nasty place. Once I saw the inside of the room, especially the bathroom I left.
- Eric (10/5): - Convenient, affordable and cozy
- Ketna (8/5): Amazing Stay - We enjoyed the stay. Property is located in quiet area. Very beautiful campus. The staff was good, and very quick and easy check in.
- Geoff (2/5): - Sure... it's a MOTEL, but it doesn't have to be the equivalent of the BATES Motel. The price seemingly went UP $15.00 from my Expedia rate, at check in, but it was late and I needed a room. Upon inspection of the room I found, a bedspread with 7+ cigarette burns, most of which had also burned through into the paper-thin blanket. The shower, which seemed like a catacomb, had a gross, rusty substance, gooey even, leaking from the handle into the base of the shower; so gross I didn't even take a shower the next day. The microwave and small mini-frig' sitting on a wooden pallet on the floor of the room was a nice touch.
The towels were paper thin, rough as sandpaper and may have been recently washed.
I had paid for two nights, but asked for a refund for the second night, which the manager gladly gave me.
I found a MOTEL 6 about 14 miles south, FOR THE SAME RATE
- Richard (2/5): - The guy at the counter couldn't speak English it smelled like smoke and just a terrible experience all around!!!!
- Henry (2/5): - Bed bugs
- Andrew (2/5): - Disgusting place. Visible dust and the shower didn’t look like it had been updated or cleaned properly in decades.
- Sandra (2/5): - Our smoke free room, reeked of smoke, the cable was out. When we voiced our complaints & wanted compensation we were told we got a discount from Expedia so that was all we get. No relocation to a non smokey room or any solution for the headaches we suffered from the smell.
- Lance (4/5): - Wouldn’t recommend
- Sandra (4/5): - Hair in shower, on bathroom floor, mattress totally wore out especially one side, window probably last washed 5 yrs ago. Did have small refrigerator and microwave. Didn't see vacuum with cleaning cart.
- Andre (6/5): - Low key...
- KARSHAN (4/5): - Terrible water conditions.
- Kyaw (4/5): - Not friendly not clean
- Jay (10/5): Midweek Getaway - It was a nice stay, quiet and relaxing. The room was very comfortable. There was a restaurant on the premises, but I didn’t try it.
The proprietor gave me a delivery menu from a nearby place.
- Bruce (6/5): - Bathroom was filthy. The Check-in was through an outside window.
- Ed (6/5): - It is a very old property and it is evident staying there
- Michael (10/5): - The new owners are fixing the up the motel as rapidly as they can without then inconvenience of workmen and their equipment everywhere. I had a remodeled suite. It was very clean and comfortable. I would book a room there again.
- Hailey (6/5): - You get what you pay for, it's not the best, but not the worst. A simple, quiet room. Staff was particularly rude.
- Martin (2/5): - Everything was terrible. Proprietor had a terrible attitude, the room stunk and was freezing. Also dirty to boot
- Richard (4/5): - It was not pleasant the bedding was clean but stained the hot water was lacking and not enough towels
- Steven (6/5): - For my needs, the location is the main attraction and it is a relatively quiet area. The rooms are run down and need some basic updating, especially the bathrooms. Towels and such could be newer as well.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never again - Usually I'm fine with motels. I don't expect too much.
This place is however the worst experience. I'd rate a hotel in Nepal which didn't have hot shower higher.
It's not "dated". It's "old". Everything is about to fall, like the crown molding and coat rack.
Towels are as hard as bath mat. The shower looks scary. I chose to be dirty for the night rather than use the shower.
When I washed my face I felt the water smells like iron.
The ceiling light keeps turning off after 15 seconds. The staff said it was because the sensor and gave me a piece of tape to cover the sensor. No. It didn't work. I put even a thick black gaff tape on it but no luck. Glad one of the two bedside lights worked (the other one had no way to plug).
There's not many outlets for your convenience, like for your phone.
The room has a microwave and fridge which is good. Also it didn't stink. Just dark and old. I'm also glad I didn't see any creatures in the room (you know what I mean) I couldn't relax at all.
- Jim (2/5): - Definitely wasn’t satisfied. This place was absolutely disgusting and dirty. Will not be returning at all.
- Garry (4/5): - Very rude at the front desk
Was shorted on change by $15
- Verified traveler (4/5): Yikes - Typical old, run down motel. Needs a major overhaul. Crazy that they charged me $70 for the room. Was only worth about $35-$40.
- Daniel (2/5): - Did not let us in even though we had a reservation.
- Carlos (2/5): - Is this really the dirtiest motel I've been to
- Pavlin (2/5): - Wouldn't use again.Worn down smelly very low end.Unpleasant attitude from staff
- Malcolm (2/5): - I stayed in room that had no heat as far as could see. It was ‘40 degrees outside. I slept in a jacket and a hoodie. When I checked on the manger took my information though a open window. I wasn’t even allowed in the office. I will never stay here again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): do not stay here - this place was a sty hole and surprised if i didn't bring bugs out with me when I left. absolutely rediculous. Couldn't turn on heater because there was no face to the knobs on the unit. shower backed up when used. no lightbulbs in any of the lights
- Kathy (2/5): Disappointed - Room smelled musty, drapery falling off rods, rust stains bath tub and sink, faucets and bath fixtures dirty/lime build up. Cracked and missing tiles in bathroom. Room very outdated and not cared for. Was looking for a quaint piece of Americana , instead got the Bates motel
- Eric (2/5): - Property is in such poor condition it should be condemned.
- Thomas (2/5): Toilet issues - Low water pressure and the toilet didnt flush
- Lawrence (10/5): - The staff were friendly and professional. The room was spacious and well-kempt for the price. Carpet could probably stand replacement, but overall clean, comfortable and quite a bargain for Chicago metro area. Not much in the immediate area, but then again that lent to a somewhat bucolic environs.
- Gennadii (2/5): - Very dirty
- Anthony (2/5): - Terrible pay for anywhere but here
- Anthony (4/5): Nerver go here!! - It was HORRIBLE!! Nasty! Hair all over the shower walls, carpet stains everywhere. Just nasty. I ended up sleeping in my car.
- Brianna (2/5): Unsanitary - The place was very unsanitary, smelled really bad, and front desk keeper wasn’t professional at all !
- ABDUL (4/5): - Is very dirty water is risty i cant shower and mouth wash
No wi fi
Dirty bed
Dirty and rusted wash room
Very poor air quality
I never go back
- Whitney (2/5): - For almost 100$ I’m not satisfied. The rooms were full of bugs and the water made you stink.
- Brianne (2/5): Du-Wayne is a Du-Not. - I never got to stay. When I walked up to the office window to check in the lady slammed it shut and said no. Wouldn’t look at the confirmation information or even speak with me. When I contacted hotels.com because there was nothing “affordable” for last minute I was told that someone would investigate and be back in touch. No one has yet to do that either.
- Isabel (2/5): I hated it - Not good
- Jose (2/5): - Dirty place
- Victor (10/5): A restful weekend - It was just wonderful, very relaxing and I really needed it. I would definitely come back.
- Richard (6/5): - Squeaky faucets, rusty-tasting water, rust-stained sink and shower, burn holes in sheets, mirrors losing their silvering, tiles missing from bathroom wall, light switches located in inconvenient places.
- Stephanie (2/5): Go elsewhere! - We were hoping this was a retro seventies cool motel but we're sorely disappointed. The lobby door is locked and we were spoken to through a 3" opened window that was at knee level. We booked a king non smoking room and were given a double bed smoking room. The bathroom was disgusting. The grout was several different colors and the room smelled horrible. The telephone was disgusting and the amount of gunk in the cradle under the receiver was horrible. We went back to the office to tell them it was not the right room and they gave us keys to another. The shower was definitely better but when I pulled back the blankets to to check the condition of the sheets, there was a bunch of hair towards the foot of the bed and in the center of the bed was a huge circle of what appeared to be dried urine. We immediately went back to the front desk and were given a refund and told it was the housekeeper's fault because it's hard to find good help. I am so disappointed i didn't take pictures...I was so in shock and couldn't wait to get out of there.
- Rosario (10/5): - Great staff and nice room
- Giovanni (2/5): - Look elsewhere I regret the stay I got there late and left within 1 hr not worth the stay
- Sarah (4/5): - The bathrooms were not clean. Same with the linens & towels.
- Jesus (6/5): - Not too good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Upon arriving, the property looked quaint; I thought I had found a hidden gem while riding across country on my motorcycle Then, I opened the door to the room, and was hit by the smell. One of the two beds looked as if it had been slept on, and I refused to sleep on the sheets. But by far, the worst part was the shower, with it's nasty, rusty buildup from the dripping tap. Needless to say, I left smelling not so spring fresh.
I had stopped into a bar to have a drink and someone asked me where I was staying. When I told them, "the Du Wayne", the ENTIRE BAR burst into laughter.
The place could have potential, but they either need to hire a cleaning staff, or fire their current one. And they could use a maintenance person.
It's a roof over your head, but not much else. Too bad
- Verified traveler (2/5): - dirty bathroom and room. also when last customer left the pizza lift in the microvan.
- Rachel (2/5): Please issue refund. Didn't receive room - I booked my room and an hour or two later arrived. Online and in my reservation confirmation, it said there was no front office. When I arrived, there was an office. I rang the bell, waited and no one answered. I paid for a room I never received. I need to speak with somebody so that I can please have a refund. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not good. AC wouldn’t turn on and there was no hot water.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The carpet and tile floors were dirty and sticky. The fridge had black mold in it. The towels were stained and the shower did not work. Crumbs under the blankets of the bed. Non smoking room but there were Ashes in the dresser drawers and an ash tray clearly used on the table. The woman at the desk rolled her eyes at me when I rang the bell to check in as if I was bothering her. The walls had exposed wires and webbing coming down from the ceiling. I would never recommend this to anyone. Very disappointed in my stay
- Julie (2/5): Terrible - Room was disgusting, walked in and walked right out. Do not stay here. Dirty and smelly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Our room was disgusting. There were stains on the sheets and towels, hair in the blankets and pillows, and mold in the sinks and shower. Completely nasty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Welcoming and nicely manicured buildings and lawn. Not a typical Motel atmosphere. Friendly and helpful person on staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This Place! Was out Dated nasty Smelling Horrible Place
- Khalid (2/5): Nasty nasty place - The place was filthy if I would’ve stayed in my car I would’ve been a lot better and safer
- Alucard (10/5): - Very considerate of social distancing at check in
And location right on North was convenient
Most restaurants nearby are a short drive
Polite staff
Impressed with the fresh linens
Really quiet, felt like I was on the countryside
Everyone I encountered was pleasant
Soap and amenities in bathroom could use updating
- Queri (8/5): - It was a nice stay cation thank u
- Mb (2/5): - There was no water in the whole building the guy said . At least he was nice enough to give my money back.
- WinfieldScott (2/5): - I've stayed at some pretty icky motels, like during Spring Break in Ft. Lauderdale, but this motel is by far the worst. The rooms are dirty and dark, the bed sheets are soiled, the water smells of sulfur, the mini-fridge didn't work, the DirectTV box was tied with string to the TV, don't even mention the bathroom/shower. And there were couples meeting up all night long.
- Queri (10/5): - Great thank u we will be back again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff and management T Duwayne Motel, are always kind courteous , the location is on a major highway , get yourself in communication with Mr. Patel for booking and or any questions regarding your stay at Duwayne motel, I can conduct business when I need to from this motel, along with getting the peace and quiet for resting, good job to the team at Duwayne Motel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Cockroaches! Old property that needs renovation. Bed was ok but bring your own pillows.
- Robert (6/5): Umm, nope. - Nice people, but the place really needs updating, seriously. Cold water in sink was knocking so bad we would only use when we thought adjoining rooms would be awake. Low flow pressure of toilet. The AC was incredibly old and inefficient, but managed to survive the last heat wave. Bed was very uncomfortable after 3 nights. Poorly lighted.
I was not expecting grandeur for the excellent price, but I won’t be back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I liked location no hot water, roaches, very old out dated, mattress was very worn out
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoy family owned, non corporate lodging. Very clean, older facility but well kept.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Place is disgusting. Needs a serious facelift, with working ac.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was great, and the room was really nice (especially for that price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - NOTHING UNIQUE
JUST AN OLD FASHION MOTEL FROM THE 60'S OR 70' THE WATER WAS WELL WATER I WOULD BET ON IT AND IT HAD THAT SMELL TO IT IF YOU HAVE EVER LIVED ON A FARM IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. COULD NOT GET A SOAP LATHER THE WATER WAS SO HARD.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This turned out to be a "hot sheet motel". People coming and leaving all night. Moaning and noise all night. Prepaid with no refund so were stuck. Probably O.K. for a quicky but not all night. Don't waste time and money unless you are only staying a half hour.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owners very nice. Would use again. The propery could use some updating. Overall happy.
- A (10/5): - It is a cheap, clean, sufficient place to stay on a cost saving budget conscious trip. Check-in, watch tv, get up, shower and checkout—seamless, no fuss and very very safe.
- Bob (4/5): tough night - I do not recommend
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I just stayed the 1 night and the motel needs to be updated the bath room and shower were from the 1980's the motel was clean the bed was comfortable but the property has never been updated
- Dennis (8/5): Affordable - One of the only affordable options in the West Chicago/Carol Stream area. Old, but clean; friendly. Easy routes to many places in the surrounding area. Has a microwave and mini-fridge for further economy. Only negative is that the beds are old; would be good to upgrade to new mattresses.
