Tony (10/5): Pleasantly surprised! - Very dated hotel, like late 70s. Was a little hesitant when we drove up but the owner was really nice. Room was old but the mattress felt new and the pillows were comfy. Bathroom was very clean, towels fresh, and the water pressure was fantastic! I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Did not hear the train but probably because we were so tired. Skipped breakfast and went to bakery down the street to try it out.
Mark (4/5): - Although I was not expecting much for a $55 priced room, the property is ancient and what ended up making it such a horrible experience was that it was closely located to train tracks. The train whistles started around 3am and continued until I left at 7am. Unless one is a very sound sleeper I do not recommend.
Tesla (2/5): - Bed was very uncomfortable. Smells musty throughout the entire building. The staff communication between each other and guest is completely unacceptable. The owners are not from the United States so they do not understand hospitality, honesty within the Manager and the poor little boy at the front desk who wasn’t certain about many things. It was very inconvenient as I was trying to book another night. The manager approved and said I could stay in the same room but the front desk boy had told me that I would have to leave and check in at 3 o’clock. Never in my life have I experience such and demanding me to remove my belongings also they charge me a $10 late fee. I was late because I was sitting there trying to get the man to understand English and comprehend what the manager and I had spoken of and agreed to. I wish this was a better experience but I guess if you’re desperate go for it.
Verified traveler (8/5): Pretty good - I stayed here twice and had very different check-in experiences based on who was at the front desk. It is a good motel, though. One recommendation I have for the property is to plug in the fridge if you know someone is staying in that room that night; it’s not always convenient to have to wait for the fridge and freezer to cool down before unloading coolers.

AL (8/5): - 1. Although there was a fridge, its door was ajar, and it wasn't plugged in and thus wasn't cold. This turned out to be because there weren't enough electrical outlets. The TV and cable equipment occupied most of the outlets behind the furniture, and the microwave was plugged into the 1 remaining outlet, leaving no outlet for the fridge. I had to unplug the microwave and put the fridge's plug into that outlet in order to use the fridge, which was the more important appliance. They should set up a 6-outlet device behind the furniture so that all appliances can be plugged in at the same time. 2. Something good, which I had never seen before, is that they have a mostly-transparent security wall (which needs a room card to pass through) in front of the row of rooms, such that it is impossible for an outsider to just walk up to a room and try to get into the door or window. 3. On the bad side, the driving area in front of the rooms is not in good condition; it is uneven and torn up, with gravel or tiny rocks all over it, preventing the drive from the entrance to your room and back out to the street from being a smooth drive. 4. On the good side, the manager/clerk was very nice and helpful.
David (2/5): Rude owner! - The owner is very rude. Never saw the inside of the room. I decided at the check in that this was not where I wanted to stay! Outside is a dump!
Irvin (4/5): Old but cheap and comfortable - I think it was built when Calvin Coolage was President. It will do for a night or two. If you're not to particular. But it's about forty years past a facelift. The staff was nice. The water was hot and strong. Best of all the bed was very soft and comfy. Wasn't expecting that. I slept well.

travelinlife4me (2/5): Shady Practices - Beware of shady practices. I booked on hotels.com for one night to pay at check-in. My credit card was hit with a $6 fee immediately. Since I didn't trust them, I immediately cancelled my reservation. They refunded fifty cents and hotels.com told me to dispute the charge on my card. No help from anyone with this. To be clear, there was no mention of any fee/charge at booking.
Nancy (4/5): - I understood this was an older property but it truly is time for updates to be made. Not just tired but dirty. Place also smelled very strong of curry. Bed was comfortable atleast. Breakfast is a joke. They should just not bother offering it. Check in was friendly but we found their practices dishonest. We had an extra charge on checking out for using a credit card to pay. This was never disclosed to us. Also, this is an Oyo Hotel which was not disclosed. They precharged our credit card when they were not supposed to. Then they were very hard to deal with for answers as to why. If desperate, an overnight stay maybe but would recommend paying more and going else where.
Kevin (4/5): OK rooms, very poor breakfast - I always pick a hotel that has a breakfast for the convenience factor when I can. This hotel had a cute Retro look of the 3 I was considering. Since they all had breakfasts I picked this one. However, breakfast consisted of a loaf of bread left out in it's package, some cereal and most disturbing, a milk bottle about 1/8 full that was sitting out on the counter with no cooling whatsoever! Looking at the milk you had NO idea how many days it had been placed out there just growing bacteria in the warmth. Since there was literally nothing else to eat, We went and paid for breakfast elsewhere. the other two places were chain hotels where we would have received waffles, juices, muffins etc.

No one at desk to ask. We are smokers and have difficulty finding clean smoking rooms. Wont be back to this hotel.

Timberly (2/5): Timberly - When I checked in as soon as I opened the lobby, it stunk really bad like food. Sheets on the bed were minimal no blankets were provided. We were given an adjoining room. However, our door would not lock. The room had an old smell about it. There were not enough outlets to plug your phone, and Apple watches into. When we went for breakfast, we were locked out of our room. Without even saying, we were ready to check out. The continental breakfast was toast, two granola bars, and cereal that was stale. We were right next to a train that went by all hours of the night. The hallways were ice, cold and not heated. Unfortunately, we would not be returning to this location in the future.

Ian (4/5): A step back in time pit stop - This stop was like a nostalgia trip to stay in a hotel in the era of the old route 66. Whilst clean etc, nearly everything was very dated. Despite this, I actually slept well. We didn’t stay for the inclusive breakfast as this area was not at all inviting. It’s s shame really. This hotel is located on the old route 66 but also near to the interstate. With some imagination and investment it could be a go to pit stop for road trip tourists.

It's an old building, so there was a lot of noise--footsteps upstairs, old plumbing sounds whenever anyone used water, and, of course, the train which will be audible from any hotel in town. It's a decent cheap option for one night.
Robert (8/5): - The hotel is way out on the west end of Old 66, so it's not really walkable to downtown. Not a problem with a car, of course. Railway goes right by, and the trains do sound their horns, so if you're a light sleeper, that's a problem. It's an older facility, weathered on the outside but clean inside. Beds need replacing (they're a bit on the hard outside kind of thing). Really nice folks. Breakfast wasn't worth it, but we always eat out anyway.

Walter (10/5): - While this property was very close to the train tracks, that was true of every hotel/motel in Gallup, so if staying in Gallup, the noise of the train was everywhere. That being said, I only heard the train a few times overnight, and the daytime trains just became part of the scenery. Parking was right outside my room, where I could keep an eye on my car, and the proprietors were both friendly and very helpful.
Juanito_Hayburg (10/5): ¡¡You Will Feel Like Royalty Here‼️ - During the second week of June2024, my most favorite #1 son and I were moving much of his household from Mountain ViewCA-USA to HoustonTX-USA, which required overnighting in several communities along the way. One such location was the ROYAL HOLIDAY MOTEL, GallupNM-USA. It was one of my favorites because our room was located on the ground floor, on the South row facing North, which meant no climbing of stairs for me! Checking in was easy; all major cards are accepted, and today’s modern internet speeds up the whole process! The mattresses are nice and firm, reception is friendly and, since we had had a delicious meal (Oasis Mediterranean Restaurant), I was ready to get a necessary good night’s rest! This wonderful hotel appears dated—as do most of the heritage hotels-motels along the “mother road”/historic Route 66/business I-40/route 318–and give all travellers that needed place to lay their heads for the night. The next morning, whilst making my way to the lobby for brekkie, the owner/operator immediately empathized with me, for she herself had a similar limp. I felt great relief/confirmation as she repeatedly told me “NO SURGERY” and shared with me how she’d made powder from Tumeric root to ingest daily. I haven’t quite gotten to that level of creativity (yet), but understood exactly what she meant because of my own bulk consumption of the processed powder. Besides this nice nook being available to all guests, I could look across the noteworthy highway and see several tracks, with trains rolling East & West through the pass. If I listened, I was able to clearly distinguish the different vehicles operating: (motor)cars/(motor)trucks/or train cars being sorted into long trains, none of which I heard in the room, though the occasional siren or plane passing overhead might creep in. I was quite pleased with the low cost of this hotel, and know you too will be captivated by the serenity which pervades it, especially on the ground floor. It certainly has my coveted “iWheel of Approval!”

They attempted to notify us immediately but we didn't get Hotels.com notification until the next day. However, the gentleman at the counter was so sweet and helpful he took us to a nearby room to see if we could use it. While it wasn't accessible, it definitely worked for one night. Thank you!!!

It wasn’t much, but I was disappointed that it was misinformative. For the price we paid it was ok and I would recommend for a night or 2.
S (6/5): - When I checked in the employee was nice. The room was clean although the furnishings and building is very outdated. I had such an uneasy feeling the entire time. Maybe because I was alone, but I didn’t feel comfortable and left early the next morning. I think it’s “okay” if you desperately need a place to crash for a few hours ( and can block out the trains) but it is not a leisure, vacation place to stay.

Wonderfully thick and fluffy towels. Older building and decor but everything very clean and functional. My room had 2 wingback chairs and a recliner (!). Only comment is that the walls are thin and you can hear louder neighbors (e.g. the family next door with young kids), but everyone quieted down after 10pm and I slept soundly. Would definitely stay here again in the future!
Verified traveler (4/5): I'd stay again if it was my only choice - Seedy part of town, front desk person barely looked at me even though it was my reservation and credit card.He chose to interact with my adult son instead. He was sarcastic and condescending. Room was old but decent.
Martin (10/5): - An older Route 66 motel, no doubt higher end. There has been good effort to keep the place as nice as possible. If you want a basic, decent place at half the price of nearby motels, this is as good as it gets.

Kathryn (8/5): - The Price is Right This is an older property that is maintained and cleanly. The room was spacious and comfortable. The check-in was quick and smooth. The pool is apparently under some kind of construction (but I knew this from the description before booking). The area this is located in isn't particularly nice and is very close to a frequented railroad, but there are other hotels in the area and I felt relatively safe. Overall, a good, inexpensive, overnighter hotel. But I wouldn't stay here for a vacation.

Dennis (10/5): Great value! - Very large comfortable room. The mattress was very good. The room had three comfortable easy chairs. Everything worked. The only problem was the trains that went by at night. But my portable white noise machine took care of that.
Daniel (10/5): Last minute reservation works out well. - I wasnt sure what to expect as I had brought a pet (first hotel allowing pets) and was looking for an inexpensive hotel available on the same day. Check in was fast and the staff was very nice. The room was neat, and other guests were friendly. I was very plelased.

Deanna (6/5): - After a long drive, I was disappointed to pull into this property. Overall, it is run-down and uninviting. There's a dilapidated old pool house in the parking lot that's no longer operational. The hotel interior has not been kept up, including old carpet and upholstered chairs that I didn't want to sit on. The Continental breakfast is scant and is served in the small lobby. The ice machine doesn't work. On the positive side, the room met our basic requirements – comfortable enough bed, refrigerator, hair dryer upon request (though it was a wall model, detached from the wall), easy parking, close to downtown Gallup. This place must have been grand and welcoming at one point in time, but sadly it has decayed and not been given the resources and attention needed to make for an enjoyable stay. I would not stay here again.
