Guest Reviews
- Timothy (4/5): - Look, just invest in maintenance and cleaning.
You own this property.
Take some pride in it.
- Virginia (2/5): - room was clean but sadly in need of upkeep. paint peeling toilet rocked and in need of repair. room shabby desk clerk rude. not worth the money
- James (4/5): - It’s on old Route 66. The whole area is run down. I try to support places like this but it’s hard to want to do that if the property isn’t kept up
- Jesse (6/5): - I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of this property. It was the worst motel I’ve ever stayed in.
- Rosemarie (4/5): Stay away - The office staff could not get our attention because they could access the computer without a password. We waited for about ten minutes then someone said they would open our door to our room. But we wanted to go get food first. Very bad area so we had to go quite a ways to find a McDonald’s which only place to eat!
- Katrina (2/5): - Do not stay here. Sheets are stained , dead bugs on floor very old dirty and outdated. Looks like an abandoned building. Needs to be torn down I do think that place has ever been cleaned
- Danny (4/5): - If only sleeping one night its ok. Shower head broken. A/C didnt work correctly. The updated floor was poorly installed. Dont open curtains or you will see dirty windows. TV signal was glitchy on all cable stations. Outdoor light outside door blinked all night . Desk chair broken. Not worth the rate.
- Richard (4/5): - The Lady Greeting people was Horrible,,
Very Old Accommodations. Kinda of ok for Stop & Go travelers.
Curtains didn’t really open , were Black-Outs ??
ThxU
- 539rajkumart (2/5): Bad experience! - Bathroom was leaking, AC doesn’t work properly… the microwave wasn’t working… poor room maintenance… I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here…
- Daniel (6/5): - 3 stars for a nice clean bed, A/C and a good bar/restaurant across the street. Otherwise, property should be condemned.
- PING (2/5): - The front desk lady was not friendly at all.
The room was in very bad shape. The bathroom shower knob was off. There were bugs on the bathroom floor. Even the room floor was tilted. It made me think that the entire building maybe dangeroua and outdated.
Try your best to skip this one!
- Ashlee (2/5): Skip. Don’t do it. - Disgusting!! Mold all in the bathroom. Floor missing tiles and toilet wobbly. No coffee at all. Terrible attitude by older lady that checked me in. Now that I’ve been there I’ve seen there are much better options do not go here. It is not worth it. I feel like my cat now. Has all that mold on her fur.
I took a video on TikTok, but I didn’t take pictures.
- Sheila (6/5): - Very outdated
- Colleen (2/5): - It was terrible. Dirty, bugs and in horrible condition.
The lobby should have warned me off. Boxes filling most of it?
Do NOT recommend this place.
- Roderick (2/5): Very Rundown - Holes in the ceiling. Dead roaches on the floor. Stains everywhere. Really gross. Avoid like the plaugue
- michael E (6/5): Needs updating - AC unit cannot keep up with the heat. The toilet was about to fall over.
The bed was comfortable.
- Nancy (6/5): - the staff was very unfriendly downright rude.the office was filthy with boxes of stuff every where and a large dog.
- Guy (10/5): - It was a very good experience we were there for the 4th of July and the fireworks and our family lives like two blocks from it
- Kevin (8/5): - It was nice and easy.
- Ann (10/5): - Clean property. You can see the upkeep and effort. I paid $23 to lay my head during a road trip from Detroit to Phoenix. I appreciated the bamboo mattress.
- Leslie (6/5): - Poor maintaining of property must be about to close down room is falling apart. Beds look clean though. Super cheap rate. No coffee!
- Elizabeth (2/5): - The receptionist took my credit card and wrote down the details of my card including the security code. I locked my card right away: it was weird because I paid it online already. More over, the place is unsafe and the building is so old. The sink would not work properly. The sheets were not comfortable.
- Christy (10/5): - It was a perfect stop for a quick nights sleep while cross country traveling.
- Kevin (6/5): - It was fine; cheap and efficient, provided exactly what I needed
- Alan (4/5): - It is on route 66 which is cool but it is also in a state of needing repairs like the mother road.
- Kenneth (6/5): - Parts were clean, others were not.
- Erandy (2/5): - The place was very dirty the towels were dirty the bathroom was very dirty the wall in the shower was inflated and felt like it was going to fall down weird stains on walls and bedframe it also was very dirty at the front office the staff was very obnoxious and with a unfriendly attitude the front office there was a dog and the front office was also filled with dirty boxes which says a lot because we have stayed in hotels that are in better condition and for less money.
- Toan (4/5): - Property needs remodeling .
- William (2/5): UNSAFE - No Smoke Detector in room! - Learn English! Bathroom was disgusting. Toilet paper looked like it had been completely soaked with water at some point. Shower curtain was stained with a reddish-brown substance. around the bottom part. Floors were uneven and sinking. AC/Heat unit very loud WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for this dump. No wonder there were only 5 cars in the parking lot! And see the title.Motel needs to be investigated for unsafe operation.
- EMMA (2/5): - Door did not latch ,room was filthy, sheets were stained and covered in dog hair, feces stained walls in bathroom and tiles broken and crumbling on floor, room was cold and the room stunk of cigarettes and I am not sure if the woman at the desk could speak or understand English if we hadn't paid in advance we would never have stayed but didn't have a choice with her not understanding anything I said. Thank God for the sleeping bag and extra blankets I carry in my car or we wouldn't have had anything clean to sleep on. This place is not fit for humans.
- megbF1599OK (2/5): Terrible. - They charged us full price and put us in a room with the window smashed completely out. You can see from the photos that there was jagged glass around the entire frame and cardboard had been set carelessly over the gaping window. The manager refused to even offer us anything else. Very unprofessional and dangerous.
- jenniferrO6161YB (6/5): You get what you pay for. - Horrible hotel. I mean I knew it wouldn’t be very good being the cheapest but when we first got the room it took me forever to get the door to open and once inside it was like an icebox. Had the heater going full blast for hours and was still freezing. It needs some more updating for sure but it was clean and for that I am thankful. The lady at the front desk was super rude though and could use a lesson on customer service for sure.
- Kareem (10/5): Creepy but safe and sound. - Don’t know where to start but this might not be for everyone. I like creepy type things and this seem so much like a set of a horror movie. I think the eyes on the picture was looking at me, lol.
- Sonia (2/5): - Did not stay due to terrible conditions
- Elizabeth S (10/5): - Decent place to stay.
- Timothy (2/5): - This motel has to be the worst Motel I have stayed in 20 years. The room was broken, tiles falling off the bathroom walls, the water was barely hot in the shower, and overall it was a run down old Motel.
- George (8/5): - I enjoyed the stay. Would stay there again.
- Randy (2/5): - I dislike saying anything bad about anything but feel I owe it to others to give my honest opinion so they don't feel taken advantage of or like they wasted their money as I am not very picky but was very disappointed in the conditions of this property especially at that price.
- 327thumper (2/5): Route 66 Inn - We had stopped for the evening and on my Google app it said it was $51. The lady at the desk was shown the price but she said that was wrong. So I showed her the price that was $57. My husband asked if they had a veteran discount and very rudely stated that she normally charges $65. Then my husband paid and handed me the receipt and I was shocked that we were charged $73.78. I was further shocked when we walked into the room and the floor was taped down with orange tape. The toilet seat was cracked and had orange tape wrapped around it. The window was filthy and broken. The lamp would not turn on. My husband screwed in the bulbs and it worked. The refrigerator freezer needs to be defrosted. The fire extinguisher was out of date by 3 years. The smoke detector was wrapped in plastic.
- USAFA62 (2/5): Keep on driving ! - A slum motel on Historic Route 66 in Santa Rosa, NM
The reviews were spot on and I did not read them.
The weed-covered empty parking lot was our first clue followed by the check-in area which was shabby & dreary.
We had booked on line after a long drive and we’re too tired to search another place so we gave it a try! Room 131 smelled ok, had clean sheets and small, clean towels but was sparsely furnished.,
Small bathroom with missing floorboard tiles, clean small tub and no frame around the door… sad little room.
The property was depressing… weeds, broken asphalt, drab colors and zero pride of ownership.
I could have been on the movie set for Midnight Cowboy!
I learned a good lesson.. always read the reviews and always review places for others!
We recommend you never stay here…..
- Beverley (4/5): Needs some serious updating. - This is a very old place. I realize it would not be roomy. The whole motel needed to be repaired . The roof over the drive up area at the office is falling apart. Our room was clean , needed to be updated. The toilet actually rocked. The faucet actually was barely in the counter area . When we went to turn the water off the thing lifted off the counter. I know the price was cheap but it needs work. The manager was friendly and helped with an answer when we asked.
- Paul (2/5): - Room smelled bad! Mold! Spiderwebs. Bathroom door sticks. Floor was soft, squishy, tripping hazard! Sand on floors
Best part of room was tv
We got in late and if we hadn’t already been driving for 16 hours we would have left!
Not good!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room is really outdated. It is clean, but it is hard to see under so bad furniture, curtains, and the bad smell. Everything worked in my room out of some light bulbs. And it is annoying the cigarette smoking smell from smokers next door. Would be totally OK if it wasn't overpriced (same as newer hotels nearby).
- james (8/5): - No coffee in the morning. Bathroom facilities need repair. Marginal at best.
- sherry (2/5): - Property was dirty and poorly keep.
- Heidi (8/5): - With a little more effort and love it could be very charming.
- Dave (2/5): Not worth it. - The room seemed clean, but it smelled bad. We also saw black mold on the bottom of the wall in the bathroom.
We forfeited our money and went to a Super 8 down the street.
- Willie (2/5): - This is the worst property I have stayed in during this trip and likely ever. Staff seemed inconvenienced by my arrival and the location is a slum. The floor in the room is duct taped down and sagging. The same duct tape is holding the toilet seat together. The light on the nightstand doesn't work and is plugged into an outlet with no cover. The cover is loose on the bathroom light switch and the window screen is falling out of the bathroom window. I felt bad for making my dog stay here. If I hadn't paid in advance (unrefundable), I would have just left. Stay as far away as possible. There is a reason it's cheap. The entire property isn't worth the deposit.
- Marc (2/5): - I am not fussy, I am a retired military veteran who travelled all over the globe for 35 years. Deployed on all continents and stayed in hotels/motels everywhere. Believe me, this property tops every place I stayed in, in terms of absolute worst, Hands down, the worst motel I have ever been to in my life. Run away, it is unfit, dirty, mingy, full of moll.
- Jason (2/5): - There was nothing to like about this property where do I start this place should be shut down not only were the rooms not clean the air conditioning wasn't working and was cooler outside then in the rooms the windows didn't shut or lock in the room the shower tile was literally falling off while trying to shower and I see why we were the only people staying there the managers wife or some lady came at 650am and tried to open the door and was knocking at door and when opened the door she looked dumbfounded asking she was just seeing if we were still in the room we have a 26ft uhaul and 15ft trailer I know you see the uhaul and trailer why are you waking us up at 650 we had been driving all day and night and had booked the room late that night only got a couple hours of sleep and ended up leaving after she woke us up very unprofessional and made things uncomfortable if I could give negative stars I would do not recommend this place to anyone
- Abraham (2/5): - They were roaches in the room
- Seraphim (8/5): - The hotel is well-maintained, but just very old, so it gives the impression of being far poorer quality than it really is. Old fixtures and so on. I am NOT complaining, but first impressions can be a little off-putting. The place is historic, I think, so maybe they can eventually do something for that. Great staff and like I said, they handle the property very well.
- Guide26931104619 (2/5): Worst motel I have stayed in - We reserved this hotel because of the pictures on the site. I can confirm that the pictures are not from this hotel or they are the pictures of 20 years ago.
The smell when we entered the room was not too fun, bathroom door does not close because it hits the toilet, the toilette is not even fastened to the floor.
The in keeper is not to friendly I can tell you that.
I will NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone, if you want a nice motel DO NOT COME HERE GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE.
- Verified traveler (2/5): worst experience ever - worst experience ever in a hotel, everyrhing broken, bed bugs, shower not working, bad smell, super dirty, never again
- Patrick (2/5): - Nails and screws all around the parking lot. Weeds everywhere. Lights didn’t work in room. No remote for TV. WiFi didn’t work. Screens were ripped so bugs were everywhere. Worst room I ever stayed in.
- mark (6/5): - Toilet and TV didn’t work. I’m sure the other rooms are fine and ok for the price.
- David (4/5): - Good for the budget but the floor was sloping and it could use a remodel.
- David (4/5): - No hot water for shower and toilet was not bolted down to floor
- Tom (2/5): - The worst place I've ever stayed. Door had a gap in it. Deadbolt didnt work. Chain lock was pulled out. Room smelled like mildew. Light switch missing and had medical tape covering the hole. Bulb burned out above vanity. Sink drained super slow. 2 Phones and neither worked. Drawer fronts on nightstand would just fall off when opened. Chair footrest stained. Flooring loose with large gaps. Toilet rocked. Shower non adjustable and was luke cool. Not even warm. Shower walls waffled with large leak at the connection where the showerhead and supply meet the wall. Gross, Nasty, Run away!!! Do not stay here. Expedia should take this off the list. I've never done a review before but felt compelled to do so in this case.
- tomwI1943SQ (2/5): Run Away - Run away!! The worst place I've ever stayed. Shower was luke cool and not adjustable. Toilet rocked. Phone not hooked up. Door wouldn't deadbolt. Sink wouldn't drain. Curtain not hung. Mildew smell. Terrible, terrible awful. Dirty gross. I've never wrote a review before but was compelled to do so. Sooooooo bad!
- deborah (2/5): Worst hotel ever! - Window had no lock!!! Couldn't shut the bathroom door because it would hit the toilet seat! Who ever did the floor install did a horrible job. There were gaps that would snag at your feet!
- George (8/5): - .
- Elliot (10/5): Great option saving money going from Denver to Phx - Hotel was quiet, comfortable, and satisfying. Bathroom was clean but had strange odor. Water didn’t drain well. Room was just what we needed for the price point.
- shamsy (2/5): - Infection insects. Dirty floors. Bathtub faucet broken.
- Lisa (4/5): - Not at all what we expected
- Margaret (2/5): not a good review - We had not running hot water and needed maintenance.
Good for one night only. Price was too hight for the accomadations.
Never stay there again
- Nathan (2/5): - The bed was infested with bed bugs and when I went to the front for a refund for bed bugs he wasn’t surprised at all
- S3938TDjohns (2/5): Bad, so very, very bad. - Unbelievably bad, red duct tape holding floor sections together, same duct tape holding cracked toilet seat together, hot and cold water reversed and windows that hadn't been cleaned since the Clinton Administration. Honestly, your car in a Walmart parking lot would be better.
- David E (2/5): - Asking for refund very dirty,no hot water, no heater outside was 28 degrees no blankets floor had nails, bathtub dirty only stayed for 3 hours unlivable please never recommend this hotel again
- Cheryl (2/5): - We checked out less than 5 min after checking in. As soon as we got to our room their were roaches. We immediately grabbed our belongings and found a new hotel. Front desk offered to give us a different room. We refused to chance the roaches only being in one room and not multiple or all rooms.
- Mary (10/5): Affordable & Clean - We unexpectedly needed a room; it was late and we were tired. We wanted cheap, clean, and accessible. Route 66 Inn fit the bill. Very clean, in good repair, equipped with tv, fridge, & I think a microwave, a surprisingly comfortable bed & pillows. Check-in was fast (it was very late), motel guy was nice & efficient. Its an old place and nothing fancy, but very well kept & clean. Definite recommend!
- Kevin (6/5): - Floor tiles held together with duct tape. No hot water. Lamp works only by screwing in the bulb. Air conditioner filter was caked with dirt.
- Jim (4/5): Buyer be ware - I’ve been known to stay in some fly by night joints but this might have been a new low even for me! Let’s start with positives, bed was comfortable and the A/C worked and tv is whatever. Now for the negative bathroom floor caving in between toilet and shower. Cleanliness of the shower could definitely be better as well as the plumbing fixtures need replacement. The room has a counter and sink where the clearance of the faucet was maybe a 1/4”. Room overall was dirty floors, mini fridge worked but freezer was not able to freeze an ice pack I use. Electric outlets were so loose my phone plug could not not keep contact. That’s enough I could go on but if you’re reading this, point has been made. I asked them to be more truthful in the advertising show pics that really shows the place and clean rooms better.
- Franco (2/5): - Horrible , dirty , rats . I been in many hotels , I never see something similar. Disgusting
- Gloria (6/5): Route 66 Inn - Definitely on the low end. Toilet had no seal around bottom and whole thing moved when I sat down. I had to climb on top of desk to hook curtains on rod to close them. Tub/shower too scary to use.
- Joshua (2/5): Bates motel - Definitely wasn’t queen beds as advertised, smelled like old cottage, shower was disgusting and had stuck drain
- ronald (2/5): - Worst property ever visited, can't believe I paid money to stay there
- Dawn (2/5): - The room they gave me was heavily bug infested!! They covered the entire bathroom floor and shower tub.
Before going into our room, I had my dogs in the dog area and a woman came out shaking some sort of tambourine at us and was yelling! I answered back that we were hotel guest and had claimed and paid extra for the dogs
- Douglas (2/5): Sketchiest place i have ever stayed disappointing - Room was very run down part of bathroom wall was missing and mold every where as well as toilet would not flush was either plugged or plumbing was bad ?? no one answered phone in office after we got there so no help even though was right at midnight when we got there ..room was hot was closed up all day so took over an hour to cool down so we could sleep shower head was literally hanging out of wall ..front door dead bolt wouldn't work until i wiggled door just right did not feel safe at all..didnt even shower in morning before we left because of state of shower area..went to check out at 9am and no one in office to tell issues to just a note to put card in mailbox by door!! wont let me add photos but i have plenty!
- Sarah (8/5): - For the price and how old the location is, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it looked and our stay was great!
- Steven (4/5): - Gross. Traveling via motorcycle, I try to camp when I can, and when I can't, I try to find the cheapest place possible. I've done this a LOT, and I 've seen my share of really shoddy budget motels, I actually get kind of a kick out of my high tolerance for nastage. (yeah, it's a word now, I just made it up) and staying places I would never stay with my wife. But I think I've succeeded in finding the grossest motel in the country, if not the world. I didn't feel I needed a shower when I arrived, but when I left I sure did. Ew. Ew. Ew. And did I mention, EW.
- tams430 (2/5): Worst Motel I’ve stayed at - First off let me start by saying, I’m not one of those people that write reviews because it’s been my experience, it doesn’t really change anything HOWEVER, I felt compelled to write this one. This motel should not even be in business. I wasn’t expecting much & am not hard to please BUT this place was filthy. The ad stated “ only 3 rooms left” - it should have said “ only 3 people suckered” I was traveling with my small dog and I got her blanket from my car to sleep on! She and I fought over it all night. The sheets, blankets & towels were filthy and that is really my minimum expectations of a motel! The whole place was disgusting. I don’t think a house keeper has ever set foot in the rooms. The shower leaked, no remote for the tv, floors filthy, spiderwebs In the corners - top & bottom. They had the nerve to charge me $10 for my dog. They should have paid me $10 to let her sleep there. Seriously folks, unless your a crackhead and are used to sleeping on the street in the dirt - DONT STAY HERE..
- E2842LYmichellep (2/5): Bad quality aside, this is motel is NOT SAFE - This was the worst motel experience of my life. In order of importance: Safety, quality, and Price. Buckle up, this is a long one.
Safety: The door didn't lock properly. The deadbolt didn't lock, because the door was warped. No big deal, just use the chain right? Wrong. The chain was not attached securely to the wall. It was screwed to the door frame, but one screw was completely out and the other screw was only in the frame about 1/8 inch. And the door frame was actually falling off the wall. So there was no way to truly lock the door. The shower had a window in it that doesn't fully close, and the bathroom door also didn't close. The main window had a curtain that wasn't wide enough to fully cover the window. In fact, someone in the parking lot would have a clear view of the always-open bathroom. Not a huge deal if people aren't hanging out in the parking lot, but the front desk man spent 90 minutes pacing and hanging out in the parking lot with his dog. He mostly paced around the lot with his dog, passing in front of my room each lap. He also would hang out right in the center "courtyard" thing which was right in front of my room. I kept waiting for him to go back in the office so I could walk my dog, since his was off-leash, but he never did. Eventually I armed myself just in case and walked my dog to the grass/dirt patch by the street and a little ways away from the parking lot. We hung out there for about 30 minutes waiting on an opening to be able to get back to the room without crossing paths with him or his dog. He got on a weird bike and started doing laps slowly, so I tried to time it so we would avoid him, but as soon as I turned the corner, he SPED UP. Wish I was joking. I turned back, but his dog noticed mine and charged her. I stopped his dog, but he said nothing. We went back to the room and I immediately started packing. In total I spent 90 minutes in that motel, and he spent 90 minutes in the parking lot. I went to the office to drop my key off. I was just going to throw it out the car window and GTFO, but I didn't see him anywhere so I got out of the car and knocked on the door. A different person was inside and unlocked the door, but didn't open it. Instead he looked at me, then behind me. THE GUY WAS BEHIND ME. I handed him the key, and left as fast as possible. I've watched way too many horror movies for this mess.
Quality: The floor was not complete. Planks were loose, out of place, weird and gappy. The toilet is not secured to the floor. The shower head looks like it has mange. I killed 4 bugs within 2 minutes of walking in. They didn't try to run. I think they were happy to die. Drawers were falling apart. There were holes in the walls, paint chipping, the usual stuff. I obviously did not sleep in the bed, but if a trampoline and an old pair of granny panties had a baby- that baby is the mattress. Outside of the room, it looks just as bad. Dog turds in random parking spots, weird furniture in random places, lots of desk chairs where there are no desks.
Price: I booked online without seeing the place first and got a deal of $50 for the night. After tax it was something like $59. I'm seeing that other people paid upwards of $100. After my 90 minute stay, you could not PAY ME to return. This is not a $100, $50, or even $20 motel. This is a motel from a horror movie. That's it. I've stayed in some crappy motels, and I actually enjoy the quirky nature of them. This one made my skin crawl.
- jessemR4014CO (2/5): nasty dirty - dont stay in this place filthy dirty smell of mildew on the walls bath room dirty curtains torn and falling off of window walked in and walked right out we asked for a refund and man there said no refund so going to have to sue for my 120.00 back booked on one of the booking motels the booking agent said it was like a resort boy what a bunch of B.S must have been one of the partners that own this dump beware and dont stay remember Route 66 inn sucks dirty and filthy
- F738AXnancyl (2/5): Don't stay here - I can honestly say this is the worst place I've stayed in my 66 years of traveling. Driving from Arizona to Arkansas with my 86 year old mother, we were done for the day and needed a place to sleep. There was a bike rally in town. All the choice hotels were booked. I booked online at 9 p.m. sitting in the parking lot and saved $15, but the room still ran $101. The lobby was a disaster, dirty and so messy, crayon on the walls. No place left to go so we paid it. The door would not unlock so we had to get someone from the lobby to let us in. The room was nothing like the pictures online. The curtains were barely hanging on the rod, room was dirty and the toilet wasn't bolted down so every time you used it there was a loud crash against the wall. Getting up in the middle of the night, there was no water to flush the toilet. In the morning the water ran rusty orange. No coffee or food offered in the morning. Said it was because of Covid but all other hotels on our trip had breakfast. This is the worst place ever.... I'd rather sleep in my car!
- malloryt888 (10/5): Great for the Price - The room doesn't look as pictured but smelled clean and looks clean. Great for a 2 night stay. The bath tub is a bit small but functional. We had to plug in the lamps which was no big deal. The door has to be pushed on to get the dead bolt to lock. The desk area was an older part of the building but acceptable. Our kids love it.
- Justlookin87 (2/5): Terrible experience - Driving back on our road trip we stayed here. It was late, really dark, and we were tired and just wanted to get some sleep. A red flag went up in the lobby when I noticed crayon on the walls but once I got into the room it was disgusting dirty. Carpet stained, a/c smashed in, phone was filthy, toilet was loose, we didn’t want to touch anything, even my husband used hand sanitizer if he touched a thing. The door didn’t lock properly and I put stuff in front of it. The whole experience here was awful. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. See my pics.
- 919sheliab (2/5): Its a great stay for $29.99, but it costs more - The lobby was the giveaway. Looks like an airstrike hit it. Paperwork piled up, exposed power sockets, children had drawn on the walls with crayons, and there was a Christmas tree on display in the window-in early July.
The room was completely worn out and a little dirty. The shower wasn't clean. The floor wasn't vacuumed and was very high mileage. Fortunately, there were 2 beds-and only one of me-because the first one felt a little wet. Pulled the covers and sheets back to see water damage from a leak on the ceiling and discoloration of the sheets.
The place is basically a dump.
- LisaRasmussen4u (4/5): Probably not again.... - We were mainly using this as a simple hang your hat type stop. We had been driving for 16 hours. The address of 1818 Historic Route 66 Inn was not correct. Our GPS kept leading us to the center of town. We eventually found it. I had called twelve hours earlier to say we would be coming in late, so the innkeeper was true to her word, and was right there, when we rung the bell. Only four other cars in the parking lot. Got our room key. Went to turn on the first light and it made a zapping noise and the light went on and off, like a strobe light. I noticed a hole in the switch plate. We tried to turn on the light between the beds and the strobe effect again. Eventually, we got it to stay on. Attempted to lock the door, but deadbolt would not work. We used the chain. Room was sweltering hot. Turned on the AC. It took two hours to cool down. I used to work in the hotel industry. My first thought was, if there were only four cars in the parking lot, during the summer time, was this the best of the rooms she had to give me? Why would she not have put the AC on, if she was expecting to check someone into the room, prior to us arriving? I didn’t shower, but let the hot water tap on for a few minutes, to discover no hot water. Neither of us could really sleep, so after five hours, we hit the road again. It felt kind of creepy. It’s sad, because it has so much potential, being on Route 66. With some repair work and TLC, this could really be a great place to stay, but it really requires electrical work, a new water heater, and some attention to detail.
- Mrhamjam (2/5): Run away - After hotels.com messed up our reservation in Santa Rosa this was the best they could come up with. It’s hard to say what the worst part was. It’s dirty. It’s sketchy. None of us felt safe. We got out of there as fast as we could in the morning. Thanks, hotels.com, for a truly awful experience. If you can, keep moving. You dont want to stay here.
- karouselkid (2/5): Go elsewhere!! - I wish I’d been able to read the reviews online before booking. I’ve stayed at several motor inns and this by far was the greatest disappointment. Pay an extra few bucks and go ANYWHERE else!! You’ll be glad you did!! The carpet was in serious need of being replaced both bc of stains and rips. The sheets were yellowing and the bathroom was just plain disgusting. The door had a huge crack so you could see plenty of daylight. Based on other reviews this place needs a serious makeover to survive.
- pjarider (2/5): False pictures On line on booking sites - We booked there based on the pictures shown on line and when we arrived, I had to do a double check on the address.. It was nothing like the pictures. Maybe they used pictures from 30 years ago.. But we didn't stay, it had a bad vibe, smelled terrible in the office, nasty looking and they refused to show us a room before signing in.. Then refused to cancel the credit card charge. See the pictures of the actual hotel! It is nothing like the one in the booking sites.
- RoadGuys2 (2/5): Deceiving and yucky - Outside appearance from the road looked okay. Old style motel really looked like my kind of place. I should have stopped everything at check-in but decided to give it a go. Carpet was filthy, I had to change the lightbulb in the bathroom myself and it took a while to get the old screws off of the cover. Toilet room was cramped as was the whole room. Found a smashed bug carcass stuck to the telephone on the desk. Very high ick factor all around. Bed sheets were dingy but appeared to be laundered okay and the bed was actually pretty good although it appeared that the frame was jerry-rigged with two-by-fours and some other stuff I did not bother looking too close.
- 688edwinac (2/5): Regretful Choice - As soon as we entered the room, it smelled awful. There weren’t any face cloths, one of the hand towels was stained and the sheets could use some bleach! It was not the cleanest and we had to use tissues for toilet paper. Would never stay there again!
