- Dave (9/5): Fort Bragg - Easy to find in a residential area. 10 minutes walk to the town centre. Very hospitable hosts. Moved to top floor room after a disappointing first night downstairs. A good location to explore the area. An excellent place to stay as long as you don't get the room next to the kitchen!!! First room was next to kitchen and woken up at 5am with breakfast preperation.
- Anita (9/5): Geen Bed & Breakfast, maar een BUD & Breakfast - perfecte gastheer - De gastvrijheid van Captain's Quarters is volledig te danken aan gastheer Edward. Hij ontvangt je alsof je een echte gast in zijn huis bent. Hij maakt lekkere pannenkoeken voor het ontbijt en koopt voor je als er iets is wat hij nog niet heeft. In de keuken hebben we gezellig gepraat met Edward en de andere gasten. Het voelt alsof je aan het bijpraten bent met lang verloren vrienden. Je kunt zijn keuken gebruiken als je 's avonds zelf wilt koken. Buiten is een deck waar je kunt zitten om je ontbijt op te eten. De rest van het grote huis is rustig en stil. De kamer die we hadden is schoon en netjes en sfeervol ingericht. Captain's Quarters is geen fancy b&b waar alles modern is met allemaal nieuwe apparatuur. Verwacht geen gemoderniseerd bedrijf. De charme van Captain's quarters is juist dat het allemaal niet heel perfect is. Dat het servies niet bij elkaar past. Dat het keukenblok minstens 50 jaar oud is. Dat er dozen in de gang staan van de nieuwste levering. Maar je voelt je welkom. De gastheer Edward zorgt daarvoor. Je vertrekt met het gevoel dat je er een nieuwe vriend bij gekregen hebt. Wij sliepen met gezin van 4 in een kamer. Een van de bedden was een opklapbed en daardoor minder comfortabel. De kamer is groot genoeg voor een permanent bed met een goed matras.

- Christiane (10/5): Wer gern mal in einer typischen Familie sein möchte…. - Wir sind hier in pures Familienleben hineingeschliddert und wir waren Teil der großen Familie. Es zählt einfach das Gefühl und nicht, wie hochwertig die Ausstattung ist. Der Big Guy hat für uns gekocht, die Kinder turnten um uns herum und auch die Oma war da und Deborah hat alles gemanaged. Einfach schön.
- Julian (9/5): Die inneren Werte zählen 👌🏼🍀 - Die familiäre Atmosphäre und die Gastfreundschaft haben uns während umseres Aufenthalts sehr gefallen. Es ist weniger ein Aufenthalt in einem Hotel, in dem jeder für sich ist, sondern ein Bed and Breakfast, wo man mit anderen Gästen bzw. dem Gastgeber ins Gespräch kommt, der sich persönlich auch um die Zubereitung des Frühstücks kümmert. Das Haus wirkt auf den Bilder viel heller und freundlicher. Bei fehlender Sonne und dichtem Nebel wirkt das Haus in Realität durch die Holzvertäfelungen auf den ersten Blick ein wenig düster. Durch den herzlichen Empfang hat dies unseren guten Eindruck allerdings nicht gemindert.
- Aaron (9/5): Warm family friend bed and breakfast with staff who go above and beyond. - Staff was very friendly. We checked in late and mentioned that our kids had a birthday the next day. The manager quickly jumped into action and arranged to make special pancakes for them in the morning and invite family over to sing happy birthday. It was a nice touch. The place is definitely a bit dates. On the one hand, that gives it some charm as a Bed and Breakfast. On the other hand, you could see the wear on the facilities, including in the room. It was a bit hard finding an outlet to charge a phone.
- Kathryn (8/5): A well deserved peaceful weekend - There was a bit of a mix up with Booking and the room I reserved. We got it figured out, and the Innkeeper Edward was wonderful. He took my concerns seriously, listened, and him and the staff made sure we had a wonderful experience. He was up early to make sure all guests had fresh coffee, and make breakfast including eggs or pancakes to order. The house is old but has so much character and is very inviting. It's comfortable, quiet, and peaceful. We look forward to returning as soon as we can. I would have liked more water pressure, but that's just my preference.

Edward was so hospitable from the moment we arrived to the beautiful home & instantly made us feel like a part of the family. The Captain's Quarters was a beautiful property with historic & meticulously maintained rooms, located a short ten-minute walk from Downtown Fort Bragg and just a little bit further to the beach. I would highly recommend anybody looking to visit Fort Bragg stay here :) We made so many beautiful memories in our one short night at Captain's Quarters, and we can't wait to return and visit again soon.

In fact they had NOTHING I could eat, and seemed to have no clue I had written and tried to call. Nor did they offer to have any for the second morning. communication! I had to add a day and couldnt call or reach anyone by email.

- Kim (8/5): - Give the manager a heads up when will you get there so he can have the room ready. My family and I arrived at 8:30 pm and the room wasn’t ready. We had to wait about 45 minutes. I wasn’t happy because I had a long day but I know the manager is doing the best he could. The check in was supposed to be at 3. The manager was sweet and cooked us a homemade breakfast. They were great! He lets us use the kitchen at any time we want. We were also able to storage food in the refrigerator. The room was big and plenty of room!

The house is located off the main drag but that made for a nice quiet retreat. Would go back if we get chance. It felt like home! Having most of the lights off when we came to check in was a little wierd.

He cooked us breakfast in the morning and talked with us like we were old friends. The house is fantastic. Huge bedrooms, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, etc. Parking area is small. We had to park on the street. The town’s restaurants all close early, plan ahead.

- Amber (7/5): Quirky older home and friendly staff make this an interesting place to stay. - This B&B is a fun play to stay -- quirky. It's an older home, with dark wood interior and low lighting throughout. The furniture is 1930s-40s vintage. We stayed in the Mendocino room, which is quite large, with a sitting/library nook, a daybed, and a king bed, dresser, and desk. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed, except tissue. Breakfast was great - they served us hot pancakes, bacon, and eggs to order, and good strong coffee. Furnishings throughout the building were dusty, and it was very dark, with not enough lighting in the bedroom. No water glasses provided (though I was able to go get some from the kitchen). But these are small details and didn't really make the stay feel negative.

Our room was next to the kitchen, a bit noisy in the early morning when breakfast was being made. But that didn't affect us much since we had an early departure.

- Eisley (7/5): Good - Location and size. It was warm and homey. I wrote multiple times before but didn't get a response. I asked for non dairy milk for coffee ahead of time but neither morning did they have it. I didn't expect non dairy pancakes but there was NOTHING myson or I could eat at the breakfast. The lady who works there was nice and accommodated our room change (I had to book a second night last just a week before). But again- I wrote multiple times to see if I could move into the second room in time to get dressed for the wedding we went to and noone replyed. I only got robo unrelated messages.
- John (8/5): Great choice for accommodations for those visiting the Mendocino coast. - The hospitality of the host, Edward, was first class. The location was great to reach all the places of interest in the area and you could easily walk to downtown Ft. Bragg for restaurants, etc.

- Travis (1/5): Place was closed, no one there! - Nothing! We arrived to the door being locked and no one there. Placed call to number in email and told placed was closed, all employees let go. Placed another call to property number and told not closed. Had to book elsewhere last minute, which cost an additional $215 for the one night stay. Very disappointed! Wish I could get reimbursed for additional cost as I booked placed almost 5 months prior to visit to the area.

- Donna (8/5): Good location - The location was great. You can walk to town which is about seven short blocks away. The room was comfortable as was the bed. The water pressure was great and there was lots of hot water. It's a great house with beautiful woodwork but it's tired looking. There is a big overgrown front yard with so much potential. We arrived while they were having a yard sale. The person who handled our check-in never really introduced herself. She said if we wanted pancakes to text her.It's not a true B&B. The windows in the room we had were right where people walked by. It would be helpful to have some sheer curtains to allow privacy and let in more light. No true outside area except the front porch but the chairs didn't look inviting.

- Alison (8/5): Homely and comfy. - The room was huge. Perfect for 3 of us. The beds were very comfy. So much space. Becky was very friendly and the breakfast pancakes were yummy.
- Christopher (10/5): A Wonderful stay. - This is a perfect spot, just a short walk to glass beach, or to downtown where you will find excellent food and cute shops. Don't miss the beach glass museum! At the end of a day of exploring, sit by a fire in one of the fire place rooms-extremely romantic.
- Gabriela (9/5): Old house with character and very friendly hostess. - Becky, property manager, is very friendly and made yummy pancakes with seasonal fruit every morning. The coffee is also excellent. The room was basic but comfortable, good shower and clean sheets and blankets. Very friendly atmosphere and Becky is always helpful. I'm very sensitive to scents, non natural ones, and the detergent or drying sheets they use have a very strong scent. I had a hard time sleeping the first night and developed a headache. I know a lot of people don't have issues with this, but for me it was challenging. Other than that, you get a great stay for a moderate price.
- Thea (7/5): You get good value, location, and hospitality—plus character!—for your money. - Becky is delightful, her hearty pancake breakfast is yummy, and the architecture is great. It was inexpensive and well located. I’d have loved to have seen it with some artwork by local painters or really any artwork more in keeping with its grand architecture; mostly what’s on the walls are psychedelic cannabis posters.
- Gloria (7/5): Willing to give it another try because location and staff were great. - Great location It was super cold at night. Thermostat wasn’t working and we did get a radiator heater but it took forever to warm up room.
- Yang (4/5): - Let me in without checking my ID, queen size bed is pretty small, no hair dryer, no TV. The room is very cold during night due to no AC or heater. Staffs are friendly but they didn’t provide us heater or notice us it could be cold during night. And for the ocean view, the sea shore is like 8 miles away from us.
- Wendy (3/5): Poor - Property manager was excellent Room not as advertised...fireplace inoperable, no heat other than small ceramic heater in corner that was insufficient to heat large room or bathroom so very cold, TV was internet based so buffered every minute or 2 so could not watch, breakfast not really breakfast...coffee and pancakes are the only offerings. Booked for 2 nts, stayed 1st nt., asked to cancel and be refunded for second night which owner agreed to. Property manager on site was excellent and understood why we left. Too bad because the house itself is beautiful and has such potential.
- Angela (8/5): I would definitely stay again! - Becky was great and the pancakes were delicious. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The outside area needed some upkeep and I don’t think people should smoke at the entrance porch.

- Wesley (1/5): Beware of Bait-and-Switch - Reserved a King room non-refundable. When we arrived, we immediately saw it was a Queen bed. When asked about it, the innkeeper said the King was broken and replaced with the Queen. The other King also wasn't available because "the comforter was being cleaned". They said we could opt out and would be refunded. We chose another location and contacted booking.com, who requested a waiver of the refund policy. They did not receive a response. We contacted the owner by phone. He said they didn't do business that way and he would take care of responding to our request for a waiver. He didn't. Subsequent communications went unanswered. Beware of this bait and switch outfit. Do not make non-refundable reservations. They cannot be trusted.
- Thejohnz (8/5): Very good - Very nice rooms with lots of woodwork and detail. Our room had a fireplace. Lots of wood, along with starter pieces were provided. Would be nice for a couple more chairs around the fireplace (room 2)

- Arabell (8/5): Very good - Super cute old building with a wonderful host! Parking along the street and it's easy to walk down the city center within a couple of minutes! Stayed there in late September, be prepared that the room gets a little chilly in the evening. Also, shower head wasn't made for tall people :)
- Kim (4/5): Would be OK for a quick overnight stay but nothing more than one night. - The style of the home I paid for a king bed and it seemed to be a queen. It was further from the beach than anticipated. I picked this location because of the pictures that were displayed, and it was not quite as inviting. I did not realize that it was actually somebody’s home and that it was an Airbnb With on site owners. There was an odor within the room. And there were bugs crawling in the room along the baseboard. The walls were extremely thin that we heard one of the other residents of the home. There was free Wi-Fi but I kept getting kicked off the Wi-Fi. There wasn’t much in the way of availability to watch on TV unless I wanted to pay for a subscription to stream something so it’s just not what I anticipated and what I saw in the advertisement for it.
- Reagan (8/5): Overall, great property. Would stay again for the value and friendly staff. - I loved all the old wood and the homey feel of the place. Betsy was very friendly and even made us delicious pancakes in the morning along with her daughter’s homemade jams which were excellent. The location, while only a 10 minute walk to town, was a little further outside the main area than I thought so we drove. We arrived during a heat wave and there is no A/C but Betsy provided us with a fan for our room upon request.

Shower was so short I was unable to use comfortably. It needs a detachable head for normal size people. Sunday breakfast only had pancakes on offer, would have appreciated eggs or any protein.
- Karen (8/5): A much-needed getaway that was complemented by a good find for lodging - It is a farmhouse built in 1912. The architecture and many of the furnishings reflect this. Parts that have been repaired have kept the style in mind. I like the large open rooms and the woodwork details.

- Linda (8/5): Made new friends, caught our limit of Cod. Happy - This is the second time we have stayed at the Captions Quarters. We enjoy the rustic laid back atmosphere. We were in Fort Bragg for fishing which was super fun as usual Becky has a lot of knowledge about the area. Have a yummy pancake breakfast with homemade jam and great coffee. She will be there to answer all your questions. Small shower, but not all the rooms are alike. Some have tubs
- Jennifer (10/5): Excellent. Thank you. - We loved the building made of redwood which was cut down by the builders in 1912 and used to build their home. We loved Becky who manages the place and keeps it exceptionally clean. She is so friendly and helpful and very good at her job. Becky made coffee and tea available in her kitchen from 7am and started making pancakes or French toast for everyone at 8am. The only thing I didn't like was that we only booked 2 nights. I should have stayed longer but we were on a road trip and had to leave. I choked up going away. But on Becky's advice we drove down to the beautiful town of Mendocino had a lovely walk. Thank you Becky and give our love to Joanne and her little son.
- Margaret (2/5): Very disappointed!! - Different from your run of the mill hotel, offer of different rooms, clean I was not given the room that was presented to me from booking.com family room. The room I was shown and expected was beautiful, with wood paneling, two beds and a day bed. All the beds weren't in one room!! The room I was given, all beds together, no comforter or bed spreads,each bed had a white woven blanket on it, box springs not covered. Curtains weren't clean, infact one of the curtains the hem was down part way with strings hanging from it. Where was the breakfast?? I was told in booking free breakfast?? The word food wasn't even mentioned.
