Guest Reviews
- Etienne (10/5): - Clean room. Definitely recommend the room with the kitchen
- Joelle (10/5): - Great hotel! Staff is very nice
- Ken (10/5): - Wonderful staff, simple yet cozy rooms but spent much of the time by the pool :)
- Vladislav (10/5): - I liked Thursdays social for guests.I think, it is a great and unique idea.Gracias and mercy guys!
- Vi (10/5): Very pleasant stay - Excellent location and incredible staff. Had everything I needed.
- Dom (10/5): - Great propriety… excellent and helpful staff at the reception… great pool
- Norma (10/5): - In the Shade Hotel is very clean with an efficient working air conditioning, nice water pressure in the shower and enough space in the room.
Front desk person was friendly and informative.
On either side of the hotel you have a choice of restaurants to eat. And you have a bank, stores and restaurants within walking distance to the hotel.
- Michael (10/5): - The hotel was fantastic. Service was impeccable and staff very attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff recommended many restaurants and activities to make my stay perfect. Highly recommend.
Thank you
- Minelle (10/5): - All of the staff especially Maggie made my stay very comfortable. As a young traveler Maggie gave advice, safety tips, and fun activities. Whenever there was a transportation concern Maggie was right on top of it with solutions. The free coffee in the morning was a cherry on top. And the safety in a city was astonishing. I will for sure be staying here again and for anyone thinking of staying in Tamarindo pick this hotel!
- Jeremy (10/5): - In The Shade is amazing!! I have been to Costa Rica 8 times now and have tried all different places, but this is at the top. The staff is all so friendly and they serve a great cup of coffee in the morning. What really makes this a good place to stay in Tamarindo is that it's very close to the main roads you will want to spend your time at, but the Hotel is very private. The Hotel is cozy, clean and quiet - what more could you ask for? Overall a 10/10 experience, hopefully I will be back!
- Anna (10/5): Great place for digital nomads - Highly recommend!!! Comfortable and super cute! Great coworking space, delicious food and Service was A++! Attracts a lot of digital nomad types, upscale hostel vibes.
- Travis (10/5): - Nice place! Would stay again
- Scott (10/5): - Great stay - cafe food on site was excellent, staff was amazing and helpful on everything.
- Adrienne (8/5): - I will say this, the property photos really help it shine! It is a very simple space, but I would stay there again. The room smelled fresh and clean and was nice and cool when we arrived. But the rooms are basic, think dorm style. However, what it lacks in luxury, it makes up for in service, location, safety, and food. There are about 16 rooms total so it is very quiet and intimate. I got to know a lot of the guests and the staff got to know us. The food was delicious! Maggie and Sandra were extremely helpful with arranging transportation and excursions even from home. They helped us plan a spa day at Sibou, kind of nearby and it was the best spa experience I have ever had. The beach is a 7 minute walk and within a 5-10 minute walk, there are tons of shops and restaurants. Tamarindo is very touristy, so if you are looking for spots that locals run, this is not that place. But this hotel is a perfect place to access what Tamarindo has to offer as well as take taxis to other locations and excursions. Breakfast was delicious every day and very reasonable. Book here if you mainly want a cozy spot to hang outside by the pool and to serve as a landing spot between adventures. I feel like I unlocked a new way of traveling outside of the big fancy hotels and all-inclusive resorts and I like it! Simple can be super beautiful and fun!
- 768genevievel (10/5): A Wonderful Find in Tamarindo! - We had an amazing stay at this hotel, perfectly located in Tamarindo. It’s just peaceful enough to relax and unwind, yet close enough to the town’s vibrant life to fully enjoy the Pura Vida spirit.
Everything was perfect — from the outstanding breakfasts to the impeccable service. This definitely won’t be our last visit, and we absolutely recommend this place without hesitation.
A special thanks to Maggie for her incredible way with guests (she patiently answered all our many questions!) and to the entire staff for making us feel so welcome.
Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway or a great spot for remote work (there are dedicated co-working areas!), this is the place to be. Well done to the whole team!
- Scarlet (10/5): - Friendly staff, close to the beach and restaurants, clean and quiet!
- Maxime (10/5): - Great location and service !
- luevac (6/5): Rude owner - I will start with the good and then go to the bad. The breakfast is as great as they say Greiten is an amazing cook. Maggie was super helpful with any questions I had about the area. Now to the bad. I love staying at boutique hotels bc typically you can support a small business and you can’t get lost in a big hotel chain especially since I do a lot of solo traveling. I had a question about a price change going lower and I’m assuming the owner Patrick had an issue with me regarding that. I don’t want to assume it’s bc I’m black. It’s a small hotel I saw his wife and she was kind and greeted me. The owner refused to speak to me the entire time I was there. As an owner bc there is a question or concern you can’t get mad at the guest who has a genuine concern. Anyway instead of me giving a poor review bc I think of the people that depend on the hotels success to take care of their families I just hopes he doesn’t mistreat the staff bc clearly he can hold a grudge. I’ve never experienced anything like this but even a rude person that isn’t from Costa Rica can’t take away the joy and all the amazing people I encountered there.
- Mauricio (10/5): Highly recommend and would claim this as my go to! - Fantastic space, extremely helpful staff, pool was cool and the beer was always cold. 7 minute walk to the beach, could not ask for a better stay.
- Robert (10/5): - We highly recommend In The Shade Hotel.
The place is very convenient, with all the rooms surrounding the pool. Very clean.
It is well located, easily walkable to the beach.
Sandra and Maddie made great recommendations for our stay.
Breakfast is fantastic, served with friendly staff.
- carl (10/5): Love this place! - Love this place!! So welcoming and friendly!!
Great little cafe onsite with outstanding breakfasts!!
- heidibeck2018 (10/5): Best adult hotel ever - Where do I start ? I moved from a bad hotel to this adult hotel. From the minute I booked, I received the BEST SERVICE EVER. The owners as well as the entire staff saved my trip. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Very piecefull and quite and yet only 5-6 min. from shops and nice restaurants. This adult hotel is awesome. They really take good care of their guests. My room on the first floor was excellent. They welcome you with a Big smile and help you with taxi and tours. I went on a catamaran tour. Wow ! Perfect way to spend my last day here and the staff helped me book this trip. Breakfast is very good too. I will recommend this adult hotel to everyone. I hope that I come back some day again. Meanwhile, my bigggest Thank you, to the owners as well as to the entire staff, for making my trip and stay the best stay ever. I can honestly not say anything bad, but only GOOD things about this adult hotel. Book it !
Best regards Heidi 😊
- Joseph (10/5): - Staff was very friendly
- Michael (10/5): - Great breakfast, best location, great place.
- Katy_guy2014 (10/5): A nice coworking space! - I worked remotely here for a month utilizing the Coworking space. The managers were very kind and took care of all my requests from the cafe, as well as offering me small free bites of various items throughout the day. I enjoyed getting to know a little the owners and managers. The internet worked well for calling and video conferences. When I come back to Tamarindo, I plan to work here again.
- Barry (10/5): - Staff were amazing,quite and clean
- 522innah (10/5): Beautiful and private hotel with a great pool and very comfortable rooms. Delicious breakfast - Small lovely private and very comfortable hotel with a beautiful pool right at our terrace. The owners and all the staff were exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. Hotel is organising a great social event every Thursday. My son and I really enjoyed it.
- Paul (10/5): - This was our second time staying here, we love the location and staff are very attentive
- Leslie Baker (10/5): - The best part about this place was how quiet it was. Lovely to sit by the pool and not hear anyone else. Location was tucked back off of a main intersection so it was very close to anything you might want, and walking to the beach was quick as well. The only thing I would wish for is at least one or two other vegan options for breakfast, but the açai bowl was delicious.
- Delano (10/5): - Second stay here. Highly recommended
- Jaime José (10/5): - Excellent personal staff, very kind and sweet.
- cory (10/5): - Great stay
- Robert (10/5): - Perfect location. Walking distance to the beach, the bars, and the restaurants. Very clean in the pool was refreshing on hot days. Highly recommend.
- Benoit (10/5): Super endroit! - Très bien situé, près de tout. Je recommande fortement cet hotel. Nous avons passé 2 jours et nous y retourneront l'année prochaine assurémment. Personnels très gentil et sympatique :) Merci encore !
- katzeee8 (10/5): Great location - This hotel was perfect for our stay; although it was short, it was perfect. Externally, the place looks impressive and is very clean. The staff is constantly wiping and cleaning throughout the day.
Private parking is available as well.
The rooms could be upgraded since there were not any outlets or the lack of counter space, but if you're not in the room only to sleep, then it is doable.
The pool is fantastic and so relaxing. It was the true highlight of our stay. The breakfast they have is incredible; the cooks are genuinely excellent.
The benedict was so delicious, along with an acai bowl, which is perfect after a swimming or a day at the beach.
Bonus, this hotel is close to so many restaurants.
- Michael (10/5): - The road in front is very muddy
- Alyssa (10/5): - We only stayed for one night but it was perfect. Maggie checked us in and she was very kind & did a through job of showing us the place and amenities and was easy to get in touch with to communicate. She had a great sense of humor & was very patient and even carried my suitcase from my car to my room. This place was very clean and looks exactly like the pictures. The lights at night around the pool are very beautiful. It is so convenient how walking distance close it is to all the shops and food places around Tamarindo. Would love to stay again!
- Emily (6/5): - It was okay for our one night but I would not be comfortable staying there longer . There were many problems with my first room and I had to be switched . Breakfast was not good.
- Jennifer (10/5): An enjoyable stay at In the Shade Hotel - Our stay here was great, well advertised to what it is. Staff is helpful and kind. Good food and smoothies available at price. Pool was enjoyable and clean. About 5 minute walk to the beach. There is a restaurant beside the hotel so there is a dull sound of music in the evenings. I am a light sleeper and did not find this a problem. Bed is firm but was not a problem either. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it. The hotel also had good wifi, so my husband could do some work and also stream movies and sports games.
- Kelly (8/5): - Great location within short walking distance of restaurants, grocery store and beach is not much further. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Free coffee in the mornings to enjoy on your balcony or beside the pool is a nice touch. Not a lot of shade mid day to be able to lounge around the pool but perfect time to take a siesta or go exploring.
- Moataz (10/5): - Excellent stay. Perfect location and amazing staff. Will stay again
- Michael (8/5): Solid hotel - Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are simple (bed, desk, telly, bathroom) but comfortable and all border the pool. Food was generous but average (we only had breakfast, but they also have a lunch menu I believe).
- Colin (8/5): - Hotel is in a good location and staff are very friendly. The rooms are also very clean and there is a nice pool and cafe. Only issue was the water pressure wasn’t great but overall enjoyed the hotel.
- Sarah (10/5): - This is a gem of a place. Adults only!! Perfect location in Tamarindo, close to everything you want or need, within waking distance of everything. The staff is amazing!! Thank you to Maggie & all the staff. We will definitely be back to stay here.
- Nazanin (10/5): - location was great.
- heather (2/5): - Was stopped by corrupt policia and had to pay money to leave there custody
Very scary and I also had a extreme reaction to mosquitoes bites turning into large blisters all overy leg
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent staff. Very clean and quiet. Good WiFi.
- Rich (10/5): - This hotel is amazing. Perfectly located to central Tamarindo and In very easy walking distance to the bars, beach and shops (all within 5 mins) (genuinely 5 mins too)
The hotel is clean and comfortable with great staff and excellent facilities. Including a co working space (desks and office space with a view of the pool, in a very cool air conditioned space)
There is no gym, however energy fitness is literally 5 minute walk away and is only $30 USD for a week pass.
I am a frequent traveler and very picky with hotels but you can rest assured that this one is great.
I would recommend booking any excursions through the hotel as they secure excellent rates and email you a payment link to securely pay online. I would recommend booking your airport transfer through them too.
If you can pay them in Cash ($USD) and you get a generous discount. But you can pay by card no problem.
Rich
- patricia (10/5): - Quality stay
- Julie (10/5): - Really nice hotel, super well located. Pool is amazing food too. Definitely recommend
- Dean (8/5): - Overall good, but weak shower operation and noisy neighboring properties.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Last Minute Vacation - About 5 days before my departure date I got lucky and found an opening at his hotel at a good price. I didn’t know what to expect before arriving, but I have to say I was impressed throughout the week.
I’d say the biggest pros to staying here were
- The customer service. Maggie went above and beyond to make the trip more enjoyable. From giving us a rundown of the hotel and the town, to a surprise dessert one afternoon after coming back from the beach, to helping me book shuttles
- The community pool was really relaxing and quiet throughout the day
- The hotel has a good selection of breakfast meals on their menu. The cook did a great job. Also, free coffee before 10:30!
- Filtered water was available 24/7 in the lobby area
- The hotel also had a social event for all guests the Thursday evening I was there. It was a good opportunity to meet other people
- Alan (10/5): Will definitely be back. - Great stay. Everything you could ask for in a hotel in Tamarindo Clean. Great staff. FANTASTIC location.
The breakfast was amazing as well
Sandra & Maggie deserve extra kudos for their pleasant demeanour and helpfulness
- SANDRA (10/5): - Awesome place.
- Helena (10/5): - The place was beautiful, breakfast was the best in Tamarindo we had. The property was clean, the co-working space was great. I really enjoyed meeting new people at the sunset and drinks event that they hosted, that was a cherry on top. They provided snacks and drinks on the house which was so thoughtful. Everything was walking distance. Fully recommend.
- MariePierre (10/5): - Tout était parfait
- Jamie (10/5): A cozy place to call home while in Tamarindo - There’s a vibe that captures you and makes you want to stay. Draws a certain kind of traveler…chill, friendly folk. Digital Nomad’s paradise with a great place, next to the pool, to set up office.
Great location close to the beach, plenty of restaurants and shops. Food is delicious! Friendly staff. VERY Clean rooms. Patrick, the owner, is a great dude!
We will definitely be back. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to chill, meet great people and get some online work done while I’m CR
- Fatoumata (10/5): - I generally don’t write reviews but had to do one for this hotel. It’s by far one of my favorites because the experience felt so humanized. It is a great place to stay and the staff are amazing! This is especially great for solo travelers like myself. It is safe, clean, rooms are modern and I was able to make a lot of friends during my stay. It really felt like a community. It’s walking distance from the beach and extremely close to restaurants and nightlife in Tamarindo. The pool is located perfectly in the middle of the property and allows for a nice space to hangout on a hot sunny day when you need a break from the beach. I absolutely recommend!!!
- brendan (10/5): - Great place, amazing location. Maggie was helpful with booking excursions and any wants or needs I may of needed, even after I needed to switch to a different hotel. Would definitely recommend.
- Destination616274 (6/5): In the shade, great community. - Overall, I would recommend this place to put it upon what you're looking for. I cannot get past how beautiful that pool was, and it was a great place for intermingling with the guests. This kind of had a very clean hostel vibe to it. Not many 20-year-olds but more professionals on vacation. Trying to relax. Very sociable atmosphere which is even led by their staff and the owners on Thursday nights where they serve food and drink to get people to mingle with each other. One of the best places to build travel community especially for solo traveler. I only ate breakfast and it was pretty good, and it's location to the strip is perfect because it's not too far yet. It's not right on top of the madness. The only negatives or advice I would provide would be the very low pressure shower, and not the greatest air conditioning. That said, I would go back.
- Kevin (10/5): - This is the second time that I have stayed at ITS. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and an outstanding value for the price. The owner/management are amazing, ensuring that all of your needs are met. The pool is really incredible. Inside the room, the bed is comfortable and the shower is big. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room, and outside on the patio, a sink and 2 but er stove and drawers with any dishes you will need if you decide to cook or bring something home to eat. There's really only 2 things that I don't think are great, and neither has anything specifically to do with the hotel. The hotel's location is off a side street and only a quick 5 minute walk to central Tamarindo. The street is in bad condition, especially after a rain. The other is not being able to flush paper down the toilet, which is very common at small hotels (and homes!) in Costa Rica. Just can't get used to throwing it in the garbage. But once again, this isn't ITS's issue, more of a Costa Rican issue in general. The great things about this hotel far exceed anything negative, especially the staff. Will definitely stay here again, and again, and again... Every time I am in Tamarindo, I will be a loyal customer at In The Shade!
- noramM6156QV (10/5): Loved it - This place was so amazing! The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the breakfasts were great. Rooms were good sizes with fridges and outdoor cooking spaces. It was the perfect place to work remotely from.
The only thing was that there were some ants in the room, but they only came out at night and I'm assuming that's to be expected in the middle of Costa Rica, so no real issue there.
- O'neil (10/5): - Great location. Few minutes walking to the town's main hot spots.
Room is modern and cozy. Property is safe and secure.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Makes you feel like a family instead of a guest!!!
- Ho Ying (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff, very good service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service! Hotel owner and manager provide useful tips and help guest make the most of their trip.
- John (10/5): - Overall a great experience. Will stay again- good location, clean, safe, comfortable.
- Natalia (10/5): - Beautiful property surrounded by nature. Good size room with a big bathroom. Very clean and peaceful. The view of the volcano is amazing and the staff is really friendly. We loved our stay. Thank you!
- Angela (10/5): - My friend and I brought our 2 teenage boys to Tamarindo for their graduation present. We stayed at In the Shade for 10 sun filled days.
The staff are amazing and eager to help with booking excursions and drivers. The owner Patrick and his lovely wife Michelle are so warm, giving us some amazing recommendations from fun activities with our boys to places to eat to fill their bottomless appetites.
Thank you Patrick, Michelle, Maggie, Sandra and Luca for making the 4 of us feel at home in your lovely hotel.
The beds were so comfortable, the food was delicious, the pool was divine. The towel service was a nice touch, as well as the filtered water provided in the cowork space (bring your hydro flask). The location is a 5 minute walk to the beach (cut through the farmers market- we didn’t figure this out until the end of our stay). Close to restaurants and bars. The Saturday farmers market was less than a block from our door. The Thursday evening social that Patrick and Michelle host rack week ends with a walk to the night market (a five minute walk away).
This place truly felt like our home away from home. We will be back!
- Christopher (10/5): - Absolutely great stay at in the shade. The staff (Omar, Sandra, Maggie) and owner Patrick were amazing! Would highly recommend and go back! Thanks again!
- lisabH8605TM (10/5): Fab value - Superb service, comfy beds, amazing food - My husband and I had an amazing week at Hotel in the Shade in Tamarindo. It's a really special place that's only a five minute walk from the beach. The owners, Patrick and Michelle, were so warm and welcoming and their excellent staff (shout-out to Maggie and Sandra) took great care of our every need - they gave us great advice on what to do in the area and arranged reservations for some amazing tours, restaurants, and activities. I often have trouble sleeping so I was delighted with the super comfortable beds. The food was out of this world healthy, fresh and delicious (the Mahi-Mahi Tacos were my favourite) and very reasonably priced. The co-working space is a great concept with terrific WIFI and it came in handy when I had to do some unexpected work during our stay. It was also fun to meet others in the co-working space who were staying for a longer stretch of time and running their businesses from sunny Costa Rica. Thank you Patrick and Michelle - we will be back!
- Stalyn (4/5): - The shower head barely worked had to go outside and showered..
- travis (10/5): - Very nice property
Friendly owners
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location right off Main Street in tamarindo. Nice, clean hotel.
- Devon (10/5): - This place is excellent. A perfect location in Tamarindo walking distance to all the restaurants and bars but also super chill and quiet. It's just far enough to be a perfect sanctuary to relax and reboot during the day. Super comfortable beds which really matters when you're surfing every day. Great co-work space and super solid internet. I don't even like staying in Tamarindo usually but this place changed my mind. I will be back for sure.
- Clayton (2/5): - We had a family emergency a week prior to reservations and they refused to refund our money. A week is plenty of notice and we had an emergency. Poor business. Would not recommend.
- Maria (8/5): - This hotel was great one of the best I’ve stayed at cleanliwise. Internet was really great. Only thing I would recommend is complimentary breakfast.
- Ju4nDLCruz (10/5): Pleasent place. - Good locacation, great and friendly staff, the Internet quality was really good and they have a very nice pool to go and relaxing, it's close from a bunch of restaurants and supermarket, also it's just at 10 minutes walking to the beach, a coffee maker would be nice to have in the room.
- ronnieb265 (10/5): A Gem in Tamarindo with Amazing Staff - This newly renovated gem is fantastic! It's quiet and modern, with a perfectly chill vibe. The rooms are clean and bright, the pool luxurious, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier and more accommodating -- Mazik, Sandra, and Maggie took great care of me. The super-fast, reliable internet, and adults only policy is great for digital nomads. They serve a delicious breakfast poolside where you can trade tips with other guests on beaches, restaurants, and surfing spots to try -- I ended up hanging out a lot with other guests and made some great new friends. Every recommendation made by the staff -- a riverboat eco cruise, the surfing instructor -- was completely on point. I had a fantastic time in Tamarindo, and a huge part of it was my experience at Hotel in the Shade. Highly recommended.
- J2191JMkatieg (10/5): Amazing co-working space for Digital Nomads - My boyfriend and I came to Tamarindo for a month (May 2022) and heard about In The Shade co-working space. We signed up to a 3-week membership for the co-working space and it was one of the best decisions we've made on the holiday. We worked there from 9am-5pm on the week days. They have the best Wi-Fi in Tamarindo,
there was plenty of space, the staff and owner (Patrick) are so friendly and welcoming, and they've created a great little community of like-minded individuals who are interested in working hard and travelling. The space often attracts digital nomads, like ourselves.
They also have excellent and reasonably priced food/drinks, and an indoor and outdoor space to work. The place is very clean and it's a beautiful setting to work from. When sitting outside, you look onto their newly built infinity pool and sun loungers. During our time at In The Shade, we've met some great people who we ended up hanging out with at the weekends. We'd really recommend this place for anyone coming to Tamarindo and working remotely! Although we were staying at an Airbnb nearby, we met some people who were staying at the hotel and were very happy with their stay too.
- Nathalia (10/5): - Hi, I love staying at this hotel for work, I think everything is excellent but if you'll be selling food you better hire someone that know how to do it. I ordered two things and both where like really bad. Thanks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The new owner has an entire lifetime of experience around the world within the hospitality industry. It's a great place for professional solo travellers and couples looking for a boutique feel in a quiet area near great food. The co-working space is gorgeous, and the team is very friendly. Definitely a great place to meet people, enjoy a quiet place amongst the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo.
- TravRevs (2/5): Dirty, Dilapidated, Scammy - As soon as I finished the booking I received a message from the property stating we have to either pay the full booking in cash on arrival (after the site I booked through already took full payment) or pay them an additional 11% of the total charge because I received a "special" booking rate and that if we dont comply we wont be allowed to check in. Note that my card had already fully been charged at that time - so it was purely form of extortion.
In addition, the room I stayed in was extremely dirty and dilapidated and did not look like the photos as advertised.
Note that I am not the first person this has happened too - read other reviews here and on the major booking sites.
AVOID this horrible, horrible place that will turn your holiday into a nightmare,
- JASON (10/5): - This hotel is an Oasis. It is quiet and peaceful yet steps away from everything you will want to see in Tamarindo! The amenities are abundant. My every need was taken care of. Great WiFi, delicious coffee and smoothies, new modern rooms with huge bathrooms and beautiful showers. The staff is also most friendly. You won’t regret a stay here!
- Anthea (10/5): - Great lap pool!
- Andy (8/5): - Overall good a bit expensive for what it was
- brianococ (10/5): Nice vibe, great food, nice people - First off, hats of to Mazik, just a really nice guy and a great host, very helpful, The vibe here is very clever....great internet, big aircon room where you can work with others around you, which feels way nicer than being alone in a hotel room. Everything very clean, (the girl who cleans my room is a legend), 20m pool (I am guessing) that I love doing laps in, top top quality breakfast (which is not included in the room rate),. Patrick the owner is very friendly, enjoys what he is doing, he cares and it shows. Overall, its a really clever concept...great internet, pool, rooms, adults only, work during the day with others around you (if you want), relaxed, small and friendly, safe.
- rgudo11 (10/5): The Little Gem in Tamarindo - EXCELLENT LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATIONS!!! We decided to go to Costa Rica on our honeymoon and found this gem right in Tamarindo. Not only was the hotel perfect — clean rooms, nice pool, great WiFi and lovely cafe — but Tina was very accommodating and a wealth of information. It was our first time to CR, so we couldn’t have asked for a better host to provide us with some guidance on where to go, what to eat, and what to do! We will definitely find a reason to come back to this hotel in the future!
- Sara (10/5): - This Hotel is so so BEAUTIFUL!.., wonderfully Clean….UNIQUE and Lovely as the Owner Tina😘❤️!!
She has made it feel more like a
Bed & Breakfast Home and runs it as such:)!… then a Hotel.
The vibe is such Real Love and Care for your stay!…♥️❤️♥️❤️….
It’s so conveniently close to the market/ATM -combo
(3 minute walk)…
Her chef and breakfast is AMAZING REFRESHING HEALTHY YUMMM!
Rooms Great Beds and Pillows!.. Modern cool city feel inside!
If I ever am able to make it back?… This may be my last trip outside of the USA… because of possible mandatory vaccines:(…but if by chance?…. I wouldn’t go anywhere else, I would want to have my family or friends experience this EXCEPTIONAL HOTEL & GENUINE CARE for all who stay….
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exactly as advertised. A great place to work and relax. Incredible staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great Location, walking distance to the main spots
- Voyager759984 (2/5): Not safe for solo female travelers - There are several reviews across different sites about theft and people breaking into rooms. As a solo female traveler I was looking for a place with decent security but by the owners responses to other travelers as well as not canceling my reservation because of my concerns (I did not get a full refund) I can’t recommend others to stay here, especially female solo travelers. This host will not have your best interests at heart at all.
The owner in general from several reviews and my own experience is incredibly difficult to work with so keep this in mind for anyone traveling for business purposes. Tons of other places in Tamarindo with good value, that will let you use coworking space as a part of the reservation.
- okim (10/5): Great stay! - Best air conditioning and WiFi I have experienced in Costa Rica. Rooms are modern. Comfortable bed. Nice long mirror and plugs beside it, which is great for me wanting hairdryer and straighteners in at the same time! There is a fridge which was handy. Nice seating area and pool was a bonus. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We liked it so much, we booked another night!
- Stanley (8/5): Happy stay for me. - Very nice hotel and great service. I'd have to think hard for any disappointments. And close proximity to town and an all-around good stay depending on what your comfort is all about
- Ramzi (10/5): Just like home - Exceptional hospitality. Will stay here again for sure!
- ChrigiZH (10/5): Nice Hotel - The Hotel is really nice and clean. The rooms are a bit small but so far so good. The hotel offers co working spaces too so the WiFi is awesome. Breakfast is unbelievable good but comes with a price. Staff is nice but the blond girl (I think her name was Martina) is veery lovely. Pool and pool area is nice. But even though it says don't play music from your speaker at the pool 2 or more different speakers from different guests played crappie music and the staff didn't really do something about it (which I would expect for an adults only hotel...). Other than that we loved the place and would stay again.
- shrnhnngn (10/5): Oasis in Tamarindo. - I stayed a week at Hotel In The Shade. This is a very well kept property. The owners were on-site for a majority of the time I was there. The property manager was there at minimum 10a-6p. I had cleaning service every day and even had the lovely woman confirm the cash I left was for her. I never once experienced anything but great hospitality while I was there. I felt safe. The property is clean. I got coffee and breakfast every day and was able to work in their newly added co-working space. The wifi is great for remote workers. Thank you to Martina, Viktor and Tina.
- Alissa (10/5): We loved everything about it! - This place is centrally located and an easy walk to the coffee shop and the beach. Plus lots of stores and restaurants super close.
- Alberto (10/5): - Great stay... The staff was there to help---everyone nice ..Rooms were clean...Would highly recommend--alberto
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Restaurant on premises and located in a walkable.location.
