Guest Reviews
- kay (8/5): Perfect for our overnight stay traveling home from Outed Hebrides. Staff were really helpful and friendly. - Accessible room was perfect, plenty of room for a wheelchair and very clean. Doors to bedrooms were hard to close
- Katrin (6/5): - Gut gelegenes und sauberes hotel. Ideal für einen zwischenstop auf der Durchreise. Allerdings etwas in die Jahre gekommen Etwa in die Jahre gekommen
- Peter (6/5): -
- Pete (couple) (5/5): Nice hotel, terrible restaurant - Nice comfortable room, good views over the loch Food terrible. Friday's restaurant meal had one vegetarian option. Which was off.
- Anne (9/5): Very nice - Easy parking
Clean rooms
Great staff
- Annalisa (5/5): - The location is great For how much you pay the room and hotel should be in a better condition.everything was old and rusty, not very clean, the shower didn't drain well.
- Tom (6/5): Budget hotel where staff are friendly and helpful. If you don’t expect too much then this is a great stop over. - Simple for the purpose of a stop over before climbing Ben Nevis. The feedback read had been very poor. As a result expectations were exceeded.
- Dominique (9/5): Muy lindo - Cómodo, limpio y grande. Estacionamiento. Se necesita auto.
- Soumyajit (2/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Jerri (8/5): Our stay was good. The room had a very squeaky floor - Loved the bar area and restaurant. Gave options for social outlet. The food in the bar was good and the Warm sticky toffee cake was great
The receptionist on arrival was great. Very friendly and welcoming. The bar tender could have been more friendly
- Richard (4/5): - Staff were very friendly Very dated hotel
- sridhar (7/5): -
- Samantha (5/5): Great location, needs a little love - Staff were wonderful and super helpful. It’s a great location. Very easy to get too. Breakfast was amazing. The main areas are great and beautiful…but the rooms are very dated. We felt very awkward walking around the room because the floors creaked so bad. Bathrooms have all the modern features but could have been cleaner (hair on shower walls)
- Hanny (7/5): -
- EM (8/5): -
- Chiara (6/5): - Colazione ok Da ristrutturare. Stanze datate, vasca scrostata, moquette sporca, rapporto qualità-prezzo non adeguato.
- Arcady (6/5): -
- Alison (5/5): - The view from.our window was fabulous. The bed was comfortable. Our room was extremely tired & in need of refurbishment. The screen for the shower wholly inadequate unless the person showering was the size of a 3 year old child. The result? Water all over the floor.
Only one person serving at the bar so a huge queue built up. The receptionist came to help out but that then left no one on reception.
The food was 'boil in the bag' standard at best. Vegetables clearly out of a value pack bag & chucked in the microwave.
When I checked out, the receptionist barely even looked up & didn't even bother asking if I had had a good stay.
I appreciate that this isn't The Savoy but for the price paid, The Caledonian really needs to up its game.
- Esperanza (8/5): -
- Gregory (8/5): - Good location with parking. Good breakfast. Lots of guests have dogs.
- Amy (8/5): A convenient and confortable place to stay as you make your way north toward Inverness. - We loved the lake view from our rooms. Beds were comfortable and there enough towels for us. The breakfast and dinner were good, not fancy. Staff was delightful and very helpful. Plenty of parking. It is more inviting on the inside than on the outside. There were two tour busses that stopped there for dinner and the night, but they were gone early in the morning.
- Christopher (10/5): Very enjoyable - The Staff were very friendly, the location was perfect, the food was excellent and the hotel was nice and clean so I would definitely book it again Nothing
- John (9/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): - Great location on the side of the loch, friendly and helpful staff, vegan food available with no fuss
- Andrew (8/5): All in all a good stay which served its purpose. - Facing a loch. Not too far from town but a good walk nonetheless. Nice buffet breakfast. Very basic and a little tired. Could do with a little refurb.
- Patrycja (3/5): Disappointing stay - not recommended - The only positive aspect was the friendly and helpful staff at reception. We stayed at this hotel for one night, and from the very entrance there was an unpleasant smell of mold that continued throughout the building and was also noticeable in our room. We also purchased breakfast, and it was honestly the saddest and poorest breakfast selection we have ever experienced, and we travel a lot. There was almost no variety at all. You could not even find basic items such as vegetables or cheese.
We are very disappointed, as it was definitely not good value for the price we paid.
I cannot recommend this place unless your budget is very limited and you simply need somewhere to stay overnight.
- Phl (10/5): -
- Del (3/5): Pretty grim. A wasted opportunity as the location is superb. Profits need to be re-invested. - The staff did their best. We were given a bursque 'everything is self service' when we arrived for breakfast and then left to it. The bar staff were cheerful, despite a very sparse selection and a gantry that looked as if it was being run down on purpose. There were far too few staff, so the ones that were there seemed harrased. The room was shabby to say the least. We were put at the back of the hotel with a grim view of the car park. They had neither the wine we asked for, which was on the menu, nor the draught lager that was on the bar.
There were exposed, rusty central heating pipes and a wardrobe which was frankly falling to bits.
- Tony (8/5): Caledonian Hotel - The communal areas were very good, well maintained, views of the Loch. Breakfast was buffet style and varied.
Dinner was good quality, we had pizza & onion bhaji. Overnight stay price was on the high side.
Our room, 311, could do with a freshen up, lick of paint, replace the carpet perhaps.
- Richard (8/5): -
- James (10/5): Great place to stay with awesome staff - The staff, best check in of the whole trip
- Richard (8/5): - Great location, staff very helpful, would definitely stay again.
- Dave (3/5): The hotel looks very tired and in need of major refreshments. We have been offered and accepted a £50 refund given the p - Location and breakfast 🥞 Room was very poor . Paintwork very poor , bed very uncomfortable. Toilet frame was wobbly and little or no soap in the dispenser .
- Debra (8/5): Great setting, comfy and good breakfast - Lovely view from our room. Clean, shower super, dinner and breakfast very good.
- Marcel (5/5): Veel te duur voor niets bijzonders. - Redelijke kamer. 's Avonds een optreden van een zanger. De prijs, schade door lekkende waterkoker werd niet gecompenseerd.
- Peter (4/5): Slechte accommodatie - Personeel was vriendelijk. Karig ontbijt. Niet best voor dat geld.
- Gérald (9/5): -
- Karl-Heinz (8/5): -
- Praweennuch (8/5): -
- Patricia (5/5): Poor service - The view of the loch from our room. The lights went off whilst using the shower & didn't come on for half an hour, which made things very difficult. On reporting the matter to staff I wad told that someone had fused the lights.
The staff at breakfast were very unprofessional. Music from speaker near buffet too loud & one member of staff was 'singing' loudly throughout the meal.
The cooked buffet was lukewarm at best & had obviously been stood for some time. I noticed other guests leaving food on plates.
I felt the standard of comfort, food & service did not reflect the price paid.
- Martina (7/5): -
- John (8/5): Very good. - The room with lochside views was excellent and dinner in the bar was very good. The staff were helpful particularly those in reception. The postcode covers a long stretch of road alongside the loch. It would be helpful if the hotel description mentioned the fact that the hotel was one of the furthest away from the town centre.
- Jackie (1/5): -
- Margot (7/5): -
- Albert (8/5): Ok - Beliggenhed Stresset personale ved morgenmad
- Nathalie (7/5): The perfect setting was a great start to our Highland holiday, and the friendly staff made our stay a pleasure. - Fantastic setting. Very friendly staff.
- Monika Käser (7/5): -
- Zdeňka (10/5): - Milý personál, pěkný pokoj, dobrá snídaně Velmi frekventovaná silnice před hotelem.
- Linda (5/5): With some updates this could be a great hotel, but needs some help. - The location and the breakfast staff Outdated, dirty, shower was horrible
- Teresa (7/5): Basic accommodation. Staff very friendly and helpful. - Bedroom was comfortable.
Location was good.
Breakfast was very good. Bedroom on the ground floor by the entrance, had to keep curtains closed as everyone would be able to see straight into the room.
If I had known they accepted big coach parties I wouldn’t have stayed there.
- Josep Maria (10/5): -
- Alan (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Lovely place to stay - Staff very welcoming. Every staff member was so accommodating.
Very dog friendly and comfortable for our dog.
Value for money with breakfast and dinner included.
Amazing views and surroundings.l The hotel was dated with wear and tear. Some of the sofas had gaffer tape, the room bathroom was very dated. Shower water went everywhere.
Lack of plug sockets.
- karen (4/5): would not stay again - location very out dated hotel
needs decorating and new carpets
doors were damaged hall carpet was worn through
bedroom very basic
toilet in our room did not flush but could not change room
as hotel was full
worst hotel on our Nc500 journey but most expensive
- jonathan (7/5): one night in fort william - good sized room with coffee and tea making facilities.
walk in shower in good sized bathroom nothing really, its a bit rough but ok for a couple of nights.
- James (7/5): Ideal for a short stay. - Breakfast excellent, room adequate, view zilch. Cleanliness of windows and cobwebs obvious in dining hall.
- Marc (7/5): - The location is splendid. The staff are friendly. They welcomed us and our dog. The charge for dogs is reasonable. The breakfast is plentiful if rather basic. The general condition of the building is rather depressing. The evening meal was cheap and uninspiring. My wife's red wine was like vinegar (but the barman did replace it with one that wasn't.) Most of the single glasses of white wine on the menu weren't available.
- Maheen (2/5): -
- Sally (8/5): Very dog friendly hotel with great staff. - Staff are lovely.Hotel is a little dated but was ideal for out stopover on the way to Outer Hebrides. Had a loch view on ground floor, room had recently been refurbished and was clean. Although on main road noise was minimal.
Dogs are allowed everywhere except the restaurant but you can use the bar area to eat.
Nice hotel for comfortable stopover.
- Yuen (7/5): - Location and view at breakfast A bit outdated
- Adrienne (8/5): Better than expected. - Staff were friendly, there was plenty of parking and the room was clean. The breakfast was good. The WhatsApp messages, but staff advised these were being addressed.
- Ryan (8/5): -
- Amanda (3/5): - Nothing We didn’t stay, looked shabby from the outside and when I went in smelt of stale beer, dark - just not welcoming - so drove on - in fairness did not see room
- Annelie (6/5): -
- Tina (8/5): - Clean and warm. Food good. Views amazing Little bit dated
- DMACKA (9/5): - Everything Nothing
- paul (9/5): Generally a good experience and would be happy to return. - Comfortable rooms with a great view over Loch Linnhe. The restaurant wasn’t open on the evening that we stayed.
- Mulhearn (8/5): - The view, staff, the pizza The fact my TV didn't work, asked reception, but no one could sort it and maintenance weren't available.
- Graeme (9/5): -
- Nick (7/5): -
- Jeremy (3/5): - View of the loch So very over priced for a very small room.. dated hotel..
Only 1 person at the bar. Rude staff at breakfast policing if you'd paid or not. Bar and general staff polite
- Graeme (8/5): Good value for money, clean and comfortable with very friendly staff. - Stunning location. Hotel is a bit dated and a bit of a walk from the town centre
- Chris & Kath (8/5): - Very friendly, helpful staff. Quite dated and a long walk from the centre.
