- jacky (1/5): cheap and poor accommodation . good beach location . - couldnt stay here for a week - - location to beach . staff were friendly, can take your dog . let yourself in at night ( although often found door unlocked ) good breakfast times - food was ok . room dirty - poor bed/mattress/pillows - line was clean . dust everywhere - ensuite not cleaned doors were dirty shower pressure poor and too hot - hand basin hot tap water temp was a H&S issue even with a warning sticker - would burn skin Street parking - but manager does give out a discount code which is helpful
- Malgorzata (10/5): - I had a fantastic stay at the Waterfront Inn in Shanklin. The location is absolutely perfect — right by the sea, with beautiful views that make the whole experience even more special. I especially loved enjoying my morning coffee while listening to the sound of the waves. It was the perfect way to start each day. The staff were wonderful: friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared every morning. If I could suggest anything, it would be to add one or two more options to the breakfast menu for a bit more variety.
Overall, a great stay in a stunning location. I would happily return.

- Andy (9/5): - Good quality food selection and great staff.
- Paula (8/5): Lovely hotel not much atmosphere so went next door to eat and that was lovely cosy and welcoming and - Staff were very attentive and upgraded us at a. Price but happy as hotel was quiet
- Gary (7/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): Enjoyed my stay & intend to return . - Perfect location . Enjoyed just as season comes to a close . Staff were friendly and Breakdast was great. . For me , i can not think of anything that could have been better .
- Riya (5/5): -
- Khagendra (10/5): Very convenient place specially if you have kids and you love to play ion sea water. - Staff are excellent and very friendly. I like everything about this place. I will re book this place again in future.
- Andrew (9/5): Very pleasant stay staff all very friendly and helpful will be back . - Nice position opposite beach Nothing
- Stephen George (9/5): Really, Really, enjoyed it, great value for money - Everything about the place, the location is outstanding, ALL the staff were absolutely brilliant, the food was of excellent quality, the bar area was very well stocked, all the drought beers were brewed locally on the Island, the spirit selection was also very good, overall, we we're really satisfied and happy with everything appertaining to the Waterfront Inn Shanklin. Unfortunately, there was no onsite private parking, although, I don't think the proprietors can do anything about that, we did manage to get Street parking very close to the venue though,

Staff really friendly. The room was a bit dated.

- Auckland (8/5): - The view was out of this world Rooms could do with decor and. Cleaning and a change of towels in the 5 days we were there
- Felicidade (7/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): -
- Wendy (6/5): - The hotel is within a minute of the sea. You can eat good food with generous proportions overlooking the sea .Staff are friendly and helpful.
The bus stop to all areas of the Island is right outside the hotel.
Great for families, couples and walkers for example. If you don't like dogs ,this is not the place the place for you. It is not a hotel with anyone with mobility issues and difficulties with internal stairs or steps.
We stayed for 4 nights and the bins in the room were not emptied or the tea coffee replenished.
I did not feel l had value for money ,which might have been improved if we had been able to get a sea view. However we had the last available room .
- Jan (8/5): Wonderful location, overall the food was good sadly room looked dated and poorly furnished. - Couldn’t fault the meals but bedroom was very dated and tired looking. Makeshift wardrobe too short to hang a ladies dress in. Overall just looked very dated and worn. Didn’t appreciate a dead spider in dressing table next to tea and coffee making facilities either. We stayed for 5 nights and had to ask for bins to be emptied and clean towels after the third night and were told housekeeping not usually done for that length of stay , they were seen to but surely this should occur during that length of stay. The location was great and we would probably stay again in future. See above as hotel rooms could definitely be updated.
- Angela (4/5): Not the best! - Staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice.
Much needed fan in the room. Room needs a complete update or at the very least a deep clean! Dirty marks on walls, doors, in the shower and on the bed frame, dusty bedside lamps and cobwebs in the bathroom.
Floor boards so squeaky and bouncy, felt like we would fall through them.
Limited plug sockets, no mirror in room, making it impossible to blow dry my hair!
Walls very thin, could hear noises from rooms around us.
- Barrigan (6/5): - Staff were good and polite, food, was really good, location excellent!! The part business owner,we met was a nice helpful chap, as was Mark, possibly the manager Rooms need updating, outside chairs are very uncomfortable, cut into the back of your legs, could do with cushions or replacing
- Craig (7/5): -
- Freya (8/5): Overall a welcoming and wonderful place to stay, place is beautiful and staff were wonderful. - I liked the calm nature of the Inn, all the staff were very welcoming and lovely and made us feel extremely comfortable. The room was nice and just what we needed for the two of us, it was a little hot but that is to be expected in summer, I have noted a little bit in this in the what I didn’t like. The food was amazing and their were so many options for different allergies which was wonderful for my friend who is gluten intolerant. Overall a great place to stay and would recommend to others. Xx I understand that it was the middle of summer and there is not much to be done about the heat, however our room was obnoxiously hot at night, I woke up multiple times overheated and unable to sleep. I believe in hot weather there could be the option of an added fan to help with this issue. Also the shower pressure was not great, and the hot water went from 0-100 really quickly which burnt my skin. I think it’s something to watch out for in the future.
- Helen (5/5): -
- william (9/5): Lovely - The staff 2 huge stains on carpet???.
- Anita (7/5): Budget - Right on the beach, food was nice , staff friendly and helpful I booked budget room , was in room 14 , bed would be better as a normal double as the one in there has foot board , so when you go round to left side you hit the shelf that has kettle on. Also Hairdryer provided but only mirror is in bathroom which isn't visible from any sockets so cant see what your doing
- Michael (7/5): Great to wake up to the sound of the sea! - The location on the Esplanade is great. With a sea view room you can wake up to the sound of the sea - there's very little traffic at night because the road is a dead end.
The staff are friendly and helpful although only a few deal with the accommodation aspect of the property.
Breakfast is very good (although there's only cooked breakfasts) and can be eaten outside overlooking the beach.
Daytime & evening meals are available and the menu is excellent.
Our room was a good size and the bed was comfortable.
The Wifi was reliable, consistent and fast. We were not told that the room wouldn't be serviced during our stay which led to overflowing bins and running out of essentials - I'm not sure that this is an acceptable way of running a B&B in 2025.
The shower cubicle was tiny - almost impossible to wash in, and the water pressure was extremely variable.
There was some noise from the pub/restaurant below the room in the evenings but it wasn't too bad.
It's no fault of the Waterfront but public transport to anywhere near the place is extremely poor in the afternoons & evenings.
- Nicole (9/5): Superb - I very much liked the Waterfront Inn, the accommodation was basic but comfortable and met all out needs, the location was superb. Morning breakfast was lovely especially sitting out on the veranda overlooking the sea. We also had our evening meals at the Waterfront which were good value, portions are huge, but delicious food, would definitely recommend. Nothing
- Tony (3/5): Nice staff. As soon as you go upstairs to the room it all changes - Breakfast wasn't bad sausages we're not cooked, on 2nd day we had to ask that they were cooked for longer which they were The accommodation was woefully bad, although we had a basic room it was awful the bed was to short my feet were hitting the wood on the end all night, my wife has a bad back from sleeping on her mattress for 2 night. The small window in the room was filthy, with spiders around, on arrival the 2 top shelves on the unit were covered in dust which I made a staff member aware. The sink in the bathroom was so low to the ground you would get a back ache trying to use it, toilet seats were tricky to keep upright. The floor in the centre of the bedroom sprang up & down.
- Jef (5/5): Passable - The location was very good I paid extra for a sea view room & was taken to a very small side room with a limited view of the sea . Also, the breakfast was horrible it was full of grease & on too separate occasions, i found a hair which put us off eating there, so although breakfast was included we had to go elsewhere & pay .we won't be going back.
- John (1/5): Couldn’t stay it was very disappointing and unexceptionable - Room size shocking
Poor and outdated facilities within the room
No view no parking unable to stay not even one night. Emailed the hotel via the website and asked for a refund and was told it is a budget hotel and our reasons behind not staying didn’t alone with there policy.
- Ward (8/5): A wonderful location & awesome price. - The breakfast was superb but slow. The room was very small the toilet was disgusting & didn't flush properly the shower grouting needs updating. The window was filthy. The room was stifling hot the maid got us a fan. The manager Mark couldn't of been any better he was welcoming friendly very kind the perfect host. Had a problem with parking so he did it & I paid him cash. The cleanliness in the room, the window & especially the bathroom. Not good at all.
- Leah (8/5): Very good -
- Swatridge (7/5): Great location - seafront, old village, chine, bus stops and railway station all in easy reach - Lovely terrace for an early or late evening drink. Great location on seafront. Worth spending a little bit more to get a good size room with sea view. Budget rooms basic and small but good value for money.
- Cindy (7/5): we laved our stay and Shanklin is lovely . very convienant near local bus route - lovely breakfast .
stunning location .
helpful staff the hotel needs a bit of an update - although it adds to its charm
- Brian (9/5): Good value for money. - Good location. Friendly & accommodating staff. Food was good. Good value for money for 2 night stay.
- Jane (9/5): We enjoyed the island and we would stay at The Waterfront Inn again. - The sea view was wonderful, bed was comfortable and the room was a nice relaxing place to be. Food was excellent as was the staff. It was a nice place to spend a holiday. We felt the breakfast could have had cereal on the menu as not everyone likes a cooked breakfast or eggs, etc. on toast. The bacon and sausage could have been cooked a little more but was still edible.
The bar shut at 9.30pm which was a little early for us, but no one told us why this was. We felt as we were actually staying at the hotel, we could of had a later drink.
- Grenville (6/5): - Room was clean and although not big good enough for our needs. The toilet wouldn’t flush and shower temperature couldn’t be adjusted and was red hot. Hand basin was blocked too. We told this to the manager and he apologised and did address and fix all these things so I don’t have any complaints. For the price I’m not sure I’d stay again here though.
- Jane (10/5): Superb hotel - Perfectly situated. Gorgeous views across the beach/sea. Friendly staff. Lovely food, breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Travelled with our dogs who enjoyed their stay too! Helped me with parking as well which cost 10 quid a day, but you could park most places with that charge. Would return to this hotel. Only thing was the steps up to our room. One of our dogs is not well and we had to carry him up and down the stairs. There are no rooms on the ground floor.
- Şenkul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (8/5): enjoyed our stay at Waterfront inn and would definitely stay there again - Location is very good, right in front of the beach. Breakfast was well worth it, complement to the chef for cooking us vegetarian breakfast. steps going up and down to the room and bathroom
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jackie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Amazing - Gf food was amazing Nothing
- Veronique (9/5): Superb - Great location, nice breakfast with good choice. The restaurant was nice too.
Good place for a lovely break.
- Paula (6/5): Excellent location and staff but room was not great - The location on the beachfront is excellent and staff were very friendly The room decor was tired and cheap. Water pipes and next room toilet flushing were alarmingly load in my bathroom.
- West (8/5): Very comfortable stay at the Waterfront Inn, great food and friendly efficient staff. - Breakfast was excellent.
Staff all very friendly and helpful at all times.
Dinner was very good.
Perfect location, particularly as the round the island yacht race was on. Great views of the passing ships too. My mother uses a walker and found it difficult to climb the stairs to the accommodation.
Rooms were not serviced daily.
TV and kettle not easy to use.
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (7/5): Good -
- John (9/5): Holiday - Everything All good
- Paul (8/5): Beautiful sea front location. - Compact room was configured to make most of the space available. Nicely furnished, clean with comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom to use bath. Breakfast was well cooked and staff were lovely. Beautiful location on sea front and we thought good value for money. It would have been helpful to be informed at check in that rooms are not entered or serviced during guests stay. A helpful cleaning lady we ran into stocked us up with additional supplies we needed. Being a vegetarian i did find the cooked only menu quite repetitive over a 7 night stay. No continental options are available but my son was more than happy with the menu choices. Our twin room had limited hanging and storage space and there were 2 steps down into the bathroom.
- Michelle (4/5): - The walls are paper thin. You hear everything
The grouting in the shower was filthy
Room way too small for 2people ans 2 dogs
Sink to small fo kettle
Nice staff
Lovely beach
- Wendy (9/5): Great location, friendly staff good breakfast - good value for money with breakfast from the main menu included. A little cramped in the room and old fashioned but this was what we expected for the price
- Samantha (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was excellent. Plenty to eat to start your day. You order from the main menu.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (6/5): Pleasant - Close to the sea Rooms need an update scruffy.
- Irene (7/5): Stay was good only food was a bit challenging except breakfast also shower should be controlled mostly water was too hot - Location, staff and breakfast was superb Shower water was too little on balance between hot and cold
- Susan (5/5): Practical for a couple of nights. - Breakfast was ok. Location good. Bed too hard. Room too hot. Macerator too noisy. Poor drainage in shower stall. Room security needs to be improved.
- Eileen (7/5): Nice location & nice hotel staff. - Breakfast was ok.although tea / cappuccino were not very hot & cappuccino was weak in taste. Although room was clean but beds a bit creaking/ second bed was too high.
- Michélle (9/5): Superb -
- Emily (9/5): Such a great location, comfortable and great food! - Amazing location right on the beachfront, clean, comfortable and lovely decorated room. Bed was very comfy and plenty of pillows. Breakfast menu was very good covering a good variety. There is also an option to have dinner at the Inn and I would have liked to have tried more of the items on the menu and they sounded delicious. Staff were great and friendly. Would recommend. The bed was a little short - luckily so am I :-)
- Kelly (8/5): Nice weekend break - Food - Breakfast was lovely - best meal here.
Location - right on the beachfront which was lovely, great views.
Room - it was basic but adequate, we would stay here again.
Staff - were all lovely, friendly and helpful. Could have been due to being off peak season (we stayed over Easter in April) but the bars shut at 9:30pm which whilst being ok, would have been nice to be able to sit up for a bit longer as the only other option was to go to bed (Shanklin had nothing else open to go to!).
- Kathy (10/5): - The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Our bed was comfortable andbwe slept well.
We ate every night in the restaurant as the food was lovely and very reasonable.
We will definitely be coming back. 😀
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location, really friendly staff, good sized room really nice place.
- Ranjeet (8/5): Good Stay…. - Staff was amazing & extremely helpful……would have been better with seafront room but it wasn’t to be Small discrepancies like toilet door knob not working & issue with fan could be overlooked as they weren’t gross
- Dimitar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (6/5): Pleasant - Original room offered was small and unclean, after a phone call to the manager we were given another room.
- Sophie (7/5): Good -
- Sinha (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent Location ! Welcoming staff. Very nice breakfast
- Lyndsay (10/5): Great place to stay right on the seafront - Great location. Lovely food (breakfast included in rate had good selection and was lovely). The staff were very friendly, took care of all our needs and requests, and you can have a chat and a laugh with them too. We’ve already told them we’ll be back later in the year and will happily stay again. We opted for one of the more budget rooms but it suited our needs… small but enough space for myself, partner, and infant.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Aryan (9/5): Superb -
- Marilyn (8/5): Very good - Lovely place. Could do with better quality fitments. A little cold in the room. Food and staff excellent.
- David (8/5): Very good - location and friendliness of staff were both v good The stay was too short
- William (8/5): Great, would book again - Warm welcome despite not arriving until 10.30pm. Breakfast was excellent and served with a smile Light fittings were rather obtrusive

- Sandra (9/5): Lovely all the staff were so nice and we had a wonderful stay - Staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble
We had a sea view room it was clean and comfortable would highly recommend
- Laurence (9/5): very over priced and lacking much to do boring place (shanklin) - the breakfast was very good location was good pity the i o w council have let the place go to ruins rundown
- Twells (8/5): Very good -
- Danella (9/5): Superb - Great food, fab location and excellent service. Free parking would have been good, but not a huge problem.
- Renata (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Worth a visit - Right on the seafront
Stunning inside and out
Banging breakfast
- Louis (8/5): Overall a pleasant place 🙂 - Location, decor. Staff were great. The only thing was, the heating wasn’t on in the morning, only evenings. Maybe they can remedy that over winter?
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - The location and views... food and staff was lovely
- Alice (8/5): Excellent - Very friendly staff. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was lovely and the location, right on the waterfront, was excellent. Room was a little dated and a slightly odd layout but given what we paid for it I have no complaint.
- Wilkes (7/5): Good - Location was good, nice to be able to have a meal on sight, staff friendly and helpful. No seating in the room, used the same cups for morning coffee for the whole stay, used coffee and milk not replaced, had to ask for it. Waste bin not emptied, no spare bin bag. No heating in the room with outside temperatures below average for time of year.
