- Ndabenhle. (9/5): -
- Gavin (6/5): - Lovely old farm house setting Could do with a fridge and maybe water in the rooms, the shower made the bathroom floor very wet.
- Jacqui (8/5): -
- Fanie (9/5): Lovely staff, communal area is lovely. Beautiful setting. - Location Bedding needs an upgrade
- Trevor (10/5): - Regular visitor, excellent location and value for money.
- Shavani (9/5): Beautiful, clean and comfy stay - Peaceful and neat. Perfect place to relax.
Beautiful bedding. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was freshly made and served. Lounge area is huge and comfortable Would have liked a walk in shower rather than shower over the tub, however there are other units that have showers. Our bathroom, room 5, needs I little bit if tlc. But overall cleanliness was good.
- Daniel Oosthuizen (10/5): - Everything Nothing to complain about.
- A (10/5): Refreshing and pleasant - Very peaceful and pleasant staff Nothing
- Hans (9/5): Lovely stay as usual and the staff are always warm and friendly and willing to go the extra mile. -
- Eileen (7/5): Generally good but could be better. - It was a beautiful old property It was run down and needs to better upkeep. Was also not was clean as it should be. The staff also sat around in guest areas making it uncomfortable
- Haggis (8/5): - Friendly staff Partial DSTV package and our room struggled to receive wifi
- Masingita (8/5): Tranquil - Clean and good location Bath tubs an painting are old
- Miles & Philippa (9/5): Exactly what we wanted. - About 5 kms from Michaelhouse. Lovely setting in beautiful countryside. The large room we were allocated was as big as our two bedroom apartment. Nothing really - perhaps the fact that you must concentrate while driving up and down the driveway
- Carma (10/5): The most peace we've had in a while - It is a beautiful property with spectacular views. No a thing. Everything was great.
- Paul (6/5): - Needs some love Bathrooms are dated and tiles dirty
- Sihles (8/5): Had a great stay, the staff is friendly & the place is beautiful. There can be improvements made with the breakfast - It was clean & peaceful The drive to the main house is a bit long.

- Ridwan (10/5): We will definitely be back - We had the only self catering apartment and we were down away from the rest of the rooms, completely private
Loved it That we could have had a longer stay lol
We loved it. There are no bad reviews from us
- Steinberg (8/5): - The remoteness and nature
The breakfast was very good Nothing worth mentioning.
- Alan (7/5): -
- Joelene Botha (8/5): -
- Siwe Dladla (9/5): Restful time away - Loved the comfy beds and beautiful view! Breakfast was also lovely! Feels very homely as well! Loved everything, just be careful on Curry's Post Road if you have a small car!
- Irene (10/5): - The setting was impeccable with the best views ever.
Rooms were neat and comfortable.
- Lucy (4/5): - Strong wifi coverage Old and Shabby. The carpets were old and dirty. Pillows were old and stained. Plugs were a mess. No security. The house use top on a hill, just guests staying, was a bit nervous as there was no form of security, didn't feel safe so instead staying two nights, did one night only and lost money on the accommodation.. Expected a lot better . Bathroom taps for the shower were not easy to use. Clearly the rooms need renovations and a facelift. The road getting to the lodge was gravel and dirt roads, clearly this is not noted on the website. Breakfast was ok, burnt toast. Tv did not work. Disappointed with the accomodation overall
- Laura (7/5): Quiet and convenient location. - Conveniently situated in the midlands.
Quiet and comfortable. Kitchen utensils could include a few sharp knives instead of ONLY a bread knife.
Would’ve been nice to have a dishcloth and drying cloth.
Not much attention to detail.
No hairdryer.
Considering all the competition in the area there is definitely room for improvement.
- Gerhard (7/5): -
- Corne (9/5): - Beautiful quiet venue.
- Bester (10/5): A tranquil escape with warm hospitality and everything needed to truly unwind. - Last week Annalize and I stayed at Arum Hill Lodge, and from the moment we arrived we felt completely at home. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed, easy-going atmosphere that set the tone for our entire stay.
There is so much to enjoy on the property itself. We especially loved the pool table, spent leisurely afternoons playing rummy on the patio, and had a braai on two of the three nights we stayed there. Everything felt unhurried, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up for guests to truly unwind.
Our original plan was to explore the Midlands Meander every day, but the lodge turned out to be so peaceful and restorative that we hardly wanted to leave. In the end, we only ventured out to get supplies for the evening braai and spent the rest of our days simply relaxing and soaking in the tranquillity of the property.
If you’re looking for a place that feels welcoming, calm, and effortlessly relaxing—whether for a short break or a longer stay—Arum Hill Lodge is a gem we would wholeheartedly recommend. Nothing at all — our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and we wouldn’t change a thing.

- Clive (10/5): Amazing - thank you Jan ! - What a magnificent setting !
The staff was exceptional in making us the most delicious breakfast.
Thank you for a wonderful stay !
- Gary (10/5): - Beautiful setting, comfortable room etc.
We were not there for long however, as down for a memorial service, so an in and out rapid visit. Not partial to showers in baths.
Happy with no bath, just a nice size shower.
Noticed the electric boundary fence down driveway was damaged in many places.
Not sure obviously of safety issues/ risks of the area.
- Khongelani Theon (10/5): Relaxing and exceptional - The property is in the heart of midlands, very peaceful, clean and as advertised. Friendly staff and all utilities were working and up to standard. Would definitely stay there again
- Happy Traveller (9/5): - Love staying at Arum Hill. Staff are friendly and welcoming. View is just beautiful! It needs a bit of attention to detail. Some maintenance, but nothing serious!
- Teaganblu (10/5): -
- KGOMOTSO (5/5): - Great location and peaceful. The dining/kitchen could do with a better furniture.
The signage at the gate could be bigger and better presentation.
Documentation with our details left on the table for everyone to look at.
- Hans (9/5): Lovely midlands stay - Jan is always very welcoming and it always feels like home away from home.
- Hilda (7/5): Good stay - The beds were comfortable. Jan was really friendly and helpful. He saw to it that I had delicious fresh gluten-free bread. Very little attention to detail. TV blaring during breakfast, no marmalade. The veranda is gorgeous, but unused. No fresh fruit for breakfast.
- Marno (8/5): -
- Tsatsi (8/5): amazing stay - thank you! - Room Size, Big bed, breakfast Gravel Road
- Van huyssteen (6/5): - Beautiful location
Spacious room No glasses in room, no fridge facilities available.
Cushions need replacement
Staff placed a tip glass at breakfast table which was odd.
Wifi was not reachable in room and you would need to walk to main house if you wanted to make use of the facility.
Lovely location and spacious room, but finer touches lacking
- Lindy (7/5): -
- Tracey (9/5): - The bath shower was a bit awkward maybe shower and seperate bath

- Inge (9/5): - Most comfortable bed ever!
- Candice (7/5): -
- Phindile Pru (6/5): Bed was comfortable. The electric blanket was a big plus. - Location They need to upgrade the facility e.g a mixer in the shower. Having to balance hot and cold water in the shower is so 1998.

- Nonjabulo (8/5): Overnight Stay - The staff were helpful and made check in easy , its nice to be greeted in the parking on arrival , the breakfast was really good , cereal options and nice cooked breakfast no skimping on portions ( great for a cold morning) , it was easy to locate the accommodation , with very good communication from the host which made getting there easy .The rooms are spacious and clean Will definitely do another overnight stay again. Cant wait to visit again on a better weather day . The place is a real gem in the Midlands , and a real value for money , just a few minor details , pillow case was old frayed and torn ,electric blanket on one side had no plug point ( I might have missed it/asked the staff ,but having just the one on was fine ) but if its hard to find and the electric blankets were the only source of heat in the room ( for a very cold night) .
- Rozelle (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (6/5): Needs some TLC - Lovely location, and comfortable bed and sheets. The cooked breakfast was tasty. The bath did not have a working plug, and I felt that the rooms needed a really good clean, and some soft furnishings. Fruit would have been a nice addition to the cold breakfast, for those that don't eat eggs.
- Lungi (9/5): Superb - The host was amazing , he went out of his way to make our overnight stay phenomenal. The environment is peaceful and the views are amazing . Rooms are spacious with TV and DSTV, and complementary tea and coffee.
We enjoyed the breakfast. We will surely come back in the near future.
- Salesh (8/5): Very good - I liked the peace and quite
- Vicky (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (9/5): Superb - Location and tranquility of the establishment
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Nkululeko (7/5): My stay at this property was very good. I would highly recommend. - Property was clean and the host very friendly. Communication with the host prior to my arrival was excellent. The property is located on a gravel road which is about 4km from the highway, so it was a bit challenging for me since i was driving a sports car.
