- Sophie (9/5): Gorgeous building, great location and friendly host - Incredibly helpful host with lots of tips about what to do. Delicious warm banana bread every morning with butter. And a gorgeous room with a nice balcony. Close to loads of restaurants/cafes/table mountain
- Renate (10/5): Great Hospitality -
Eu dormi lindamente todas as noites.
- Guest (10/5): -
- Alexia (8/5): - - localisation quartier gardens

- Peter (10/5): - I liked the atmosphere, the room was comfy and we'll designed - bed linen nice. I had to walk up to the second floor with my 30kg lagguge.
- Bénédicte (10/5): -
- Erik (10/5): - The second time I stay here, and it was just as great as the first time. Sabine and Ann(e) are amazing people and super friendly. We booked the room with balcony facing the street and it was just amazing. Great bed, spacious room and bathroom, and the balcony is a bonus for late night wine or whatever. Kloof street just around the corner, with more locals than tourists which made it all the more pleasant.
- Natasja Gresse (10/5): Relaxed Stay - Breakfast was good and the locations perfect.
We could walk to lovely little restaurants and shops. inside parking would have been great.
Overall no problems

- Koen t mannetje (8/5): - Anne was amazing as a host! Could have more extra's , f.e. breakfast
- Anel (9/5): Delightful - The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly They pretty much thought of everything

- Hanna (8/5): Warm welcome in a great location - Lovely welcome by Anne, a clean room which was made up every day, comfortable, quiet area but just down the road from Kloof Street with everything you need nearby. A safe and convenient area for a solo traveller like myself. One minus point was the lack of plugs in the room, meaning there was only one charging point in the corner of the room. Some people may say the bathroom could use a refresher, but everything did function well and was kept tidy and clean.
- Jenny (8/5): - Lovely welcome from Ann. The location was excellent for Kloof Street restaurants.
- David (7/5): Ideal location for a weekend in capetown - Excellent central location, very helpful staff, nice veranda, calm amidst the city hubbub. BedRoom a bit cramped, bathroom fine.
- Marta (10/5): Beautiful and comfortable guesthouse in the heart of Gardens - The guesthouse is super charming and greatly located. Sabine is very welcoming and has made the place so comfortable and pretty. We stayed in a beautiful bedroom with a lovely balcony. Everything was extra clean and there was tea and coffee in the bedroom (and the tap water is drinkable, which is a great plus). Although they don’t serve breakfast, you can fuel with some coffee and freshly made banana bread before leaving the house. The only downside was how bright it was in the morning as the curtains aren’t very thick. I’d recommend bringing an eye mask!
- Roberto (10/5): -
- Walter (10/5): Perfecte locatie, goede sfeer - Goede locatie, fijne host
- Riaan (10/5): -
- veronique (10/5): nice old house in a safe area - very nice old house in a very safe area nothing
- Rolf (8/5): Very good -
- Anca (10/5): Exceptional - A great stay, Ann is a wonderful host and the house is very tidy and nice, full of many lively plants that you can see are properly taken care of. Totally recommend, especially for "independent" travellers (ie you must organize your meals).
- Theresa (10/5): Great spot!! - Located in a convenient area with lots of restaurants in walking distance. My room was spacious with a nice balcony. Everything was spotless!
- Žydrūnė (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely colonial earn guest house - Fabulous banana bread!
- Marina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rudi (5/5): Passable - We stayed at the Cape Colonial for 4 nights while on business travel in Cape Town. Our all-day business meetings were nearby, and our accommodation requirements were therefore quite simple: a comfortable clean bed and room, and a decent shower.
Hosts Sabine and Anna get 4 stars for being awesome, and the location (incl. the comments above) adds location value because Kloof Street (5 min walk) offers restaurants, bars, a supermarket, and more.
Our room was disappointing, and desperately in need of some TLC and renovation, but complemented by an in-room coffee/tea station. The room's basic, well used, very old furnishings included a rickety double bed and a wardrobe. The toilet, shower and sink were basic and functional, but also in need of TLC. To be fair, other rooms might be superior, but we cannot be sure.
They don't serve breakfast, but there are plenty of choices just a couple of blocks away.
Our stay at the Colonial met with our basic requirements (as mentioned above), but that was pretty much it.
- Marina (10/5): Perfect stay in Cape Town - This lovely renovated Victorian home keeps its unique character and enjoys an ideal location in a lively and safe area in Cape Town. Manager and staff are extremely friendly and responsive.
- Hanne (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): Welcoming host, comfortable and clean spaces, best banana bread we've ever had! ;-) - We had a wonderful stay! Our host, Sabine, and her team were really friendly, kind and helpful. Sabine also gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation for dinner. The guesthouse was beautiful – lovely decor and the spaces were charming and comfortable. We loved the banana bread served in the morning. Our room was comfortable and very clean. We would definitely return.
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb -
- Andreea (10/5): Exceptional - The Guest House is lovely, the host even more! We really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect, the facilites and the house are very nice! Thank you for everything!
- Felix (9/5): Superb - Exceptionally placed on a side street of Kloof Straat. A place where a lot of hip, stylish people go out. With the occasional model or tv star. The value seemed good relative to competition in the same location. The Victorian interior is a please for the keen eyed.
- Evie (9/5): Superb - owner and atsff were wonderful people , attentive and available. A tv would be good , and may be an area to sit confortable like a sofa .
otherwise a very good experience.
- Joyce (9/5): Superb - Sabine was a great host, very welcoming and accommodating. The banana bread was amazing and enough for breakfast. We had some of our clothes laundered and it was folded on our beds already the next day.
Location was great. It was only a few steps away from great restaurants and bars. Generally safe street and easy to find parking. Nothing much to say.
- Deborah (9/5): Pleasant and value for money. - It loved the verandah attached to the room, it was very clean and the guest house was in an exceptionally good location for access to interesting sites. There was no breakfast but delicious banana bread and coffee was provided.
- Liesl (10/5): Exceptional - host Sabine was fantastic, great location
- Lilje (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (8/5): Very good - Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
- Alicia (7/5): Good - Lovely old guest house in a nice area.
No breakfast, but a very nice common area with coffee and banana bread in the mornings.
Nice restaurants within walking distance, but quiet at the guest house itself. Could be cleaner.
- Karen (9/5): Well located and comfortable guest house - great choice in Cape Town - Lovely colonial style guest house on the edge of Kloof St. Sabine was very kind and helpful in ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay in Cape Town. Nothing
- Mirte (9/5): Superb - Perfect location, lovely host
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abrie (9/5): The service from the owner of the guest house was very good. good value for money - Location excellent N/A
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janice (9/5): Cape Colonial was very comfortable and suited our needs. Sabine is a wonderful host. -
- Lieze (10/5): Great guesthouse in vibey part of Cape Town - Excellent location
- Robert (10/5): Brilliant - Everything about my stay was brilliant. Highly recommended, I will be back.
- Gary (8/5): One night stay for the SA V NZ rugby so was perfect - Great location Nothing really
- Peter (9/5): Excellent in every way. - I didn't book for breakfast. I'd like to mention Sabine, who couldn't have been more helpful. I can't say more than that my visit was most pleasant and I would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in the city bowl area. A small thing. It isn't clear, until you start searching how to turn the small wall lights on and off. I only found out when I pulled out t he two prong plug in order to charge my mobile phone.
- Lizle (9/5): Cozy, comfortable and central stay - Location is superb, staff super friendly. The guesthouse is clean, safe and really beautiful.
- Leonor (10/5): I will be back - The owner lady, that says it all !
- Ronny (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly reception with coffee and banana bread. Parking is a bit of a concern 😟
- Michelle (9/5): It felt like home away from home, Sabine was very welcoming and generous with her delicious banana bread and coffee! -
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional - Sabine was really friendly, helpful and welcoming, everything was clean and nice. She served us really nice banana bread for breakfast. I would come back
- Deniz (10/5): Exceptional - The location is very good to explore the city and there are many restaurants, bars, cafes in walking distance. The room was pleasant and nicely decorated. The bed is very comfortable. Try the banana bred! It is delicious.
- Luca (10/5): Really nice - really good position, the room is big and really cute
- Anne-marie (9/5): We enjoyed it and also the beautiful surroundings and many restaurants to choose from. - We did not have breakfast. The only thing was the noisy other guests and the front door needs some Q20.
- Lodewikus (8/5): Very good - Felt very homely and inviting. Owner was very friendly. The old towels and noisy neighbours
- Julie (10/5): I’m glad to stay at Cape Colonial as my first trip in Cape Town. I appreciate it Sabine and Anne insights and help as I - I like the central location and it’s proximity to lots of restaurants, easy for Uber, pick ups and a lot more personality than many other areas of the city. Sometimes the neighbours could be a bit loud and on hot nights when windows need to be open, this could be problematic, but in general I could overlook it for the good location, helpful and friendly staff, and good environment to stay in
- Nienke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danit24 (10/5): Exceptional - The warm welcome of Sabine and her staff, it makes you feel at home! The house is also really nice and in a great location!
- Abdullatif (9/5): Superb -

- Maria (9/5): A lovely guest house in a great neighbourhood. -
- Hewson (9/5): Wonderfully welcoming and comfortable - Sabine is a wonderful host. She is so helpful and accommodating. Anne who assists her is lovely too. The beds were comfortable and the colonial nature of the property is very endearing. Sabine recommended some wonderful local restaurants which were high end but at amazing prices in comparison to London. Sabine advised that it was safe to walk in the local area even after dark but also told us where not to go after dark. All together a lovely stay.
- Sinovuyo (10/5): Perfection - It’s was very clean and spacious for a solo travel, and Saardie was one of the kindest ladies I have met. Highly recommend .
- Bartosz (10/5): Almost like at home :-) - Very nice place in which you can feel almost like at home. Sabine, the owner, is really friendly and helpful suggesting places to visit or to eat at. Location is perfect - in a nice and safe neighbourhood. A lot of good restaurants around and walking distance to the center. It's also easy to find a place to park your car in front of the building. Everything was perfect :-)
- Schuster (10/5): Absolutely wonderful charming guest house with an equally charming and wonderful hostess. - Location is perfect to explore Cape Town. A beautifully furnished and maintained guest house that is welcoming and comfortable. Wonderful restaurants just a stroll away. The host and staff can not be more accommodating and helpful. Very much a perfect place to stay for several days or more.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Veronika (9/5): Highly recommended beautiful guesthouse - Beautiful location near kloofstreet. Wonderful building, super well kept. Furthermore Sabine was super friendly, helped us with what to do in the area, but also other staff was really friendly and helpful The room we had can be a little bit warm and there’s no ac, but only a fan. So that is something to consider :)
- Lars (10/5): Perfect location and Sabine was very friendly and helpful! -
- D (7/5): Comfortable stay in a nice area away from the main city centre, but with all conveniences nearby. - Beautiful old property run by a very helpful and friendly host.
Nearby on-street parking was readily available.
Nearby shops and bars / dining. Sound from people walking (early morning or late at night) from front door to (upstairs) rooms or to the front porch, breakfast / lounge room can be disturbing (if staying in ground floor room/s), as it is a traditional residential property without soundproofing.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - The property was very comfortable and in the perfect location for exploring Cape Town. Sabine, the host, was excellent, and took the time to give tailored Cape Town recommendations. I would definitely stay here again!
- Boitumelo (8/5): Very good -
- Stella (10/5): Great room with all facilities needed, great host and perfect location to explore Cape Town -
- Hambidge (8/5): It was incredible. The hostess was warm and friendly. The whole atmosphere felt like home and the staff were welcoming. - The property was situated in a lovely neighborhood. The parking was safe and it was centrally situated. Close to restaurants, chemist, supermarket and the CBD. I have no complaints.
- Liang-yu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liesel (10/5): Convenient location in Gardens neighbourhood - Location is great as walking distance from a number of great bars and restaurants, it's walking distance from Mount Nelson hotel. The host was also lovely and went out of her way with recommendations of places to eat.
- Lilje (10/5): Exceptional - This guesthouse is perfectly situated for every traveler. This is a home away from home with a bonus friendly coffee, banana morning chat :)
- Dewaldt (10/5): Old School Charm - We always come back to this Guest House, its is a great place to stay. Nothing
- Wendy (9/5): Enjoyed our stay - Location excellent. Friendly and hospitable staff. Clean and comfortable. Room was very small.
- Marc (8/5): Was on a business trip to Cape Town, good value, comfortable and clean ;-) - Gret for a business traveler

Sabrina is an excellent host and very friendly.
We highly recommend the Cape Colonial.
We will most certainly stay here again when we visit Cape Town.
