Guest Reviews
- Fermy (8/5): - It was clean and safe
- Heather (10/5): - Room was clean easy parking simple but very good accommodation
- Ryan (10/5): - Very comparable to a hostel style stay. Fridge, bbq, microwave, dish sink all available. Simple, clean accomodations and very friendly staff. They let me use the canoe rack around back and are just across the road from the river. Made a perfect end for a trip down the Yukon.
- Gord (8/5): - Zz
- Bret (10/5): Perfect - Only issue I have is we couldn't stay longer.
The bunkhouse is the perfect spot, for 1 it's cheaper then most places in Dawson, the rooms are super cozy, it's a cool feel to it like and old brothel/Saloon.
The shared showers might scare you off but they are amazing, seperate lockable doors, sinks In and outside the toilet room.
And then there is the showers... As my wife put it... Probably the best shower she has ever had. LOTS of pressure, rain head and very hot water.
Highly recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect type of budget accommodation - Had a very good stay before and after our trip to Tombstone. Lots of parking and right in the middle of Dawson so you can walk everywhere easily. Shared washrooms and showers were very clean. Really liked the water pressure and hot water in the showers. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels are all provided. Small kitchen has a fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, sink which was really useful for meal prep and clean up. Picnic tables and barbeque on the lawn as well. Free coffee/tea and friendly staff to top it all off. Very happy we chose to stay at the Bunkhouse.
- Alexander (8/5): - Great location, good for a few days and unique setup. Very uncomfortable bed though. No shuttle, so be prepared with ride from airport prior to arriving - no taxis in Dawson.
- Jarmila (10/5): - I missed the common kitchen, which is usually part of hostels. I would suggest to use European style of beddings. It is more hygienic
Room was simple, clean, comfortable.
- Steven (10/5): First time in Dawson City YT. - As advised, pleasant staff, reasonable price.
- Douglas (10/5): Great place - The Bunk house is convinced and affordable .
- Robert (10/5): - The rooms are clean, neat yet small-ish but you don’t come to Dawson City to stay in your room. The small room has a small window which is helpful given the late summer light.
- G (10/5): - Wonderful, comfortable property. Easy access to sites, restaurants and grocery store.
Shared bathroom was always clean.
- Edward (10/5): Clean and tidy, reasonably priced stay in Dawson - Great stay at the modest yet clean and tidy Bunkhouse. Shared bathrooms and showers were clean and well-maintained (though you have to walk outside to get to them). As expected, room was small but had everything we needed. Only drawback was no indoor common room to hang out in but lots of public areas in Dawson City. Would definitely stay again!
- Jocelyne J (10/5): - Affordable, beds are comfortable, rooms and facilities are clean
- john (10/5): Best deal in town - Great stay. Clean, comfortable room, spotless bathroom down the hall. Great location.
- Dieter (10/5): - positive energie
- Arlo (10/5): - So clean and friendly and central!
- Jill (6/5): - A really excellent and well-maintained facility. Unfortunately, we were on the first floor and noise and foot traffic on the second floor kept us awake most of the night.
- Dan (8/5): - Check in was totally dialled in, friendly, great place to stay.
The only suggestion I always have is leave a mop or something in the bathroom so when people shower and the floor is wet, people can wipe it up.
- Marc (10/5): - Considering it is right off the highway, this property is remarkably quiet. The room is clean and bright. The bed is comfortable. You can hear the people walking in the room above but fortunately nobody stayed up late or got up unreasonably early. We would definitely stay here again!
- Ryanna (6/5): - It was a neat experience and unforgettable stay in Dawson City.
- Marc (10/5): - Very good place to stay. Walking distance to the water and shopping. Staff are very friendly. Would stay here again
- Tyler (4/5): - Not what expected with no washrooms / small beds, no tv
- Gabriela (8/5): - The room was in good condition, but the bathroom is a bit small. The staff was very friendly and approachable
- Eva (10/5): - Cleanness
- Geoffrey (10/5): - This place is immaculately cleaned, and the beds are excellent. The rooms are small and very simple, but it's good value and the staff is helpful and friendly. Highly recommend
- Marie (10/5): - Had everything we needed. Bed was quite hard. Clean bathrooms.
Staff was friendly.
- Cory (8/5): - Thankful that they left sticky notes so we knew which room we were in, especially since we had to show up at 1:00 am after a flat tire on the Dempster along the way. Thank you!
- Tyrone (10/5): Nice and quiet stay - Very convenient location
- Matthew (10/5): - What a fun place.
- Thomas (8/5): - The front attendant, Ann, was the best part of our experience at the bunkhouse. The bunkhouse lived up to what we expected.
- Valerie (10/5): - I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at The Bunkhouse. I was not really looking forward to the hostel type experience, but I loved it. The rooms were very clean as were the shared washrooms and showers. The staff were amazing, answering questions and buzzing around maintaining the property. My stay was very enjoyabke. Good job.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The property was just as described. A great value for a place to rest your head. Adequate shared restrooms and showers.
- Demon (8/5): - The bunkhouse is a perfect place for an overland traveller to stop.
- sandra (10/5): - This is an old property in a great location. The amenities are limited, but that is reflected in the price. The manager on duty was super nice.
- Jayne (10/5): - Stayed here while traveling with my son. Rooms were clean, and while the venetian blinds were okay-ish for keeping out the sun, we were happy with our stay.
- james (10/5): - I liked the friendlyness. Did not like the tiny shower with the giant shower head.
- Zackary (10/5): - Its the bunk house what can i say, stylish, friendly staff and the best bang for buck. Plus you always meet interesting people at it.
- Terry (10/5): - Great place , best rate for a room in dawson , nothing fancy. But it makes you get out of the room and enjoy the beautiful area
- Greg (10/5): - The Bunkhouse was a wonderful choice for my husband and I. We loved the town of Dawson City and the Bunkhouse was a great fit for us
- Pavel (10/5): - Nice place
- Christine (10/5): - Very friendly. Clean and modern yet a classic. The staff was terrific. Not only friendly, but had great ideas for what to do. Didn’t need a guide book or a trip to the visitor’s center. Special shout out to Amira.
- Gerald (10/5): - Great location and friendly staff that was very accommodating.
- Filib (10/5): - Back in the Klondyke Gold Rush. Very small typical old time bedroom. Simple, cosy, with charm and history background. Strongly recommended to stay there during your trip in Yukon.
- Bengt (10/5): - Perfect for a bunch of bikers that needed a clean and friendly place to stay. Would recommend it and I’ll use it again when in Dawson.
- Charles (8/5): - Clean, quite, comfortable. The shared bath was clean, inconvenient in the middle of the night
- Mitch (6/5): - Easy check-in,check-out and clean common bathroom facilities
- Donald (10/5): - Great place to stay, in the quirky frontier style of this town!
- Brian (8/5): - It was a cute little room It was good for us
- dean (10/5): - great stay
- Adam (2/5): - The place was nice but I had booked 2 rooms several months ago and when tried to check in they told me they could see that I reserved rooms but they didn't actually give us any (they were fully booked and there was only one hotel room left in all of Dawson). A different hotel room and several hours later, they had our rooms available but refused to reimburse us for the other hotel room.
- Taryn (6/5): - Was very affordable. The staff was very nice. Just a heads up it’s communal bathrooms and the rooms aren’t very quiet. Other than that no problems :)
- Dan (10/5): - The staffs are very friendly and super helpful. I had to adjust my length of stay and there were absolutely no hassles to do so. Made my visit to Dawson City very enjoyable.
- Christina (10/5): - Everything was great
A shared bathroom area-but lots of room
- Deborah (8/5): - Nice and clean
- Diane (10/5): - These are small clean sleeping rooms with comfortable bed.
- John (6/5): - Unable to check in due to ferry being out of service; no way to cross river.
- Nathan (8/5): - If you are looking for a good clean and friendly place. This is it. Very basic but works
- Molly (6/5): - Bed was comfortable but did not get towel changes (and if it was because of covid, why was there sharing of showers and toilets with multiple other people when you got a basic room with no bathroom (or TV/radio) which could result in covid transmissible). Quite pricey for the most basic room I ever saw!! A rubber runner along the outside balcony would deaden the walking noise of passers by. Won't be back!!!
- Barb (10/5): - This was just as we had expected. An old-time feel experience from an old property. It was very clean an very minimal. A bed to sleep in and bathroom and shower facilities. We would stay there again.
- Fred (10/5): - Beautiful town, convenient and clean facility, helpful and nice lady in front desk.
- Paul (10/5): - One of the most comfy beds I have slept in a hotel. Fast and smooth check in. Awesome shower pressure. Friendly staff, appears recent renovations very clean.
- LUIS (10/5): - Small but cozy
- Thomas (10/5): - Awesome location, very clean and friendly staff......will go back for sure
- Sid (8/5): - Economical
- Stacey (10/5): Great location - It was a great location. Close the sky train. Right by my favorite sushi restaurant. Close to many great shops and attractions. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
- Andrew (8/5): - You get what you pay for. Small clean rooms and a shared washroom/bathroom
- Thomas (8/5): A Good Reasonably Priced Stopover - Small rooms, dorm style with outside access to shared (but very clean) bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service, contactless check in, operator of the bunk house went out of his way to lend me an air compressor to fill up a flat tire on my car
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful property, great location. Nice rooms, very clean bathroom and showers. The place can be uncomfortable to sleep in on a hot night though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - very clean and quiet. looks like renovated just now. very eco friendly we were very pleased how the baths were equipped. friendly and very helpful host! we were not sure about shared baths but it added charm to being in a place like Dawson. rooms look like cabins from gold rush times. very simple. beds comfortable size of the rooms haha match gold rush cabin size!
- Beth (6/5): - Rooms are basic, small and cold. There is no kettle or area for drinks or food which can make it difficult to eat in Dawson City. The bathrooms are shared but you are designated a bathroom during COVID which was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean room and friendly staff. Easy check in and out
- Bill (10/5): - The Bunkhouse was perfect for my needs. I was a lone traveller, who wanted a clean basic room. The owner wants to make your stay great.
- Karen (10/5): The hosts were fantastic and used every precaution - The hosts were fantastic and used every precaution during this pandemic to make me feel safe and comfortable. The rooms were very Spartan but clean and since I was the only one there, the shared bathrooms were no issue. And even if there had been other people sharing bathrooms they were lots of showers lots of sinks and lots of toilet. Highly recommend this place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is much more like a simple hotel or motel. In the room, only two beds and a table, no more. Room space is not very big and you may put your luggage on your bed to open it. However, for the price, and sleep quality, it is good enough if you are here to see the northern lights. No kitchen but they have milk and coffee in the office. The good thing is there are many restaurants and bars for eating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little bunkhouse! No frills, but the staff was great and rooms and shared spaces (bathrooms and showers) were beyond clean. Stayed over Labor Day weekend for a softball tournament with friends. We’ll be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms at the centrally located Bunkhouse are basic, rather like monk's cells, but clean and quiet. The shared bathrooms were always clean and never crowded. The owner was always gracious, helpful, and available, and his rates are reasonable. I would definitely stay there again.
- Jen (6/5): - This is a very remote town. The hotel room was very tiny and not as clean as I would have liked and there are a lot of stairs. It was a rustic room but considering the location it was warm, average price for the area and the staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Separate toilets require walking down outside corridor. Internet connection faulty and locked up my computer preventing a reboot.
- Alaska (8/5): - Affordable and good location, walking distance from everything in town. Unique design, small but functional.
- Judith (10/5): Rustic - Great rustic place, clean and comfortable. Sharing a bathroom wasn't bad.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I hope it has WiFi . Everything is good. Room is large. Kitchen is large.
- Frances (10/5): Small but comfortable. - Small bunkhouse style rooms but adequate for our needs. Shared bathrooms were clean and never busy.
- Will (8/5): Great Budget Travel. - Bunkhouse is a true budget hotel, very small rooms but clean, a little stuff due to the temperature controls, which we couldn't work out how to do ourselves. There was also limited access to potable water (perhaps the bathroom water was drinkable however no information or signage) Close proximity to town, and offers free coffee and tea in the lobby, and the coffee was actually pretty decent. Friendly staff and affordable. Perhaps install a shelf or stool in the shared bathroom facilities however to avoid 'non hanging items' getting wet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to crash for the price. Shared washrooms are kept pristine. Room was clean and practical, and you can't beat the location. Unlike the picture showing what we thought was our room, we didn't have a tv. No great loss, you're not in Dawson City to watch TV. Staff had fresh coffee every morning available for guests.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was spartan, to say the least. Still tidy enough for one’s needs.
- Nicole (8/5): - Chambre propre et très petite, bel accueil.
Il y a un kracher à l’arrière pour laver les motos.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms small for 2 people with luggage
Clean and friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Basic accommodation - not fancy. Everything was clean and the bed was comfy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bombay Peggy's is right across the street and they don't close until 1 am. Too noisy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I particularly like the queen sized room with private bathroom. Small but very clean and comfortable
- Norma (8/5): Comfortable and clean - Clean rooms...a little smaller than expected. Good if you don't have a lot of luggage. Beds were very comfortable and had duvees - nice touch! Not thrilled with sharing the bathroom with men. The bathroom was kept really clean too. Can't beat the location - its great. For our travels it was a good option.
- Joanna (10/5): Excellent, great value! - Fabulous accommodation at the Bunkhouse, very clean, comfortable, great location for exploring town. Would absolutely recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay - We had the triple room with private bathroom and it was great. Cozy and comfortable I would happily stay in this room again.
Check in was easy and quick.
- Edwin (6/5): - It was like staying in a small log cabin with the strong smell of freshly chopped wood! My room was very clean and the staff were friendly. I wish there was a control for the heat though as my room was very cold at night (September).
- Brian E. (8/5): - Truly delighted with the accommodations. Very clean. We thought having a shared bathroom may be an issue but was not. Would stay their again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good basic facilities. Great staff attitude and service. Nice complimentary tea and coffee. Very public route to shared bathroom facilities. I happened to be unlucky to coincide with a major incident overnight on the floor above mine - I am surprised that, subsequently, no one from The Bunkhouse contacted me.
- Nana (10/5): - Great location! Close to all restaurants etc.
Close to the river walk.
- AlexFitz (8/5): - Hotel was basic and clean, bed was comfy and there's coffee and water bottles available in the lobby
