• anne (10/5): We felt we saw the best of Ninh binh thanks to Thanh and we felt welcomed into their family home. Would thoroughly recom - It was in a beautiful quiet area of Ninh binh. The family were very welcoming. Thanh, the owner was also an amazing tour guide who knew where to go to avoid the tourists and planned varied tours including bike rides showing off the spectacular scenery. Thanh’s wife also prepared some delicious food. Nothing we didn’t like

• Piers Herrmann (9/5): A very enjoyable stay - Very good location for exploring the area which we mainly did independently.. Staff all helpful particularly Thành. Food was good. We were in a deluxe double in a building set aside from the bungalows - it was very private, quiet and had efficient Aircon and fan. Very comfortable and the room was large. Lovely views from the big windows. The bicycles were free and we had a fabulous ride through the valley. We did the night tour of the Pagoda. It was impressive at night but we should have gone just before sunset to see it during the day. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable but the tour was too long and we spent time having what felt like an obligatory herbal foot bath and tea/biscuits. We believe it's possible to visit it independently by taking a Grab to the entrance.

For us, we wouldn’ - - rooms are spacious and whole property is clean and well cared for - good quality things, for example mattresses - owner was helpful with information and speaks good English - location is far off most things and very noisy, you cannot sleep after 7am, we had early singing (maybe school nearby?), construction noise,.. - quiet hours (from 10pm) were not met by several guests, not only one group. Owner only says something when we ask him to, not proactive in following his own rules - restaurant area is not welcoming, if you don’t actively ask for a different breakfast, you will get a cold pancake without any taste. If you ask for something like honey, etc. some staff feel like they don’t want to understand or make effort even when you show pictures - in general all the rooms we had stayed are very dark, not enough natural light so it feels heavy to stay indoors

L’ultimo giorno purtroppo abbiamo bucato, ma l’host è stato facilissimo da contattare e ci ha aiutati tempestivamente.. STAFF TOP!

We even went out for lunch, and he offered us food! He's a wonderful person who treats his guests like friends. The house is wonderful, new, and clean. AMAZING!!
• Gabrielle (10/5): Lovely family, relaxing home and fantastic tour - The family -Thanh and his wife were so lovely. We were only there for 2 nights but with Thanh to assist us we were able to visit ash the sites we had planned on plus a lovely bike round through the local area. Our rooms were quiet, very clean and a great size and the meals were delicious - we had no reason to try another restaurant as Hang provided us lovely home cooked Vietnamese meals. Nothing. Initially I was a little concerned that the location was out of the main touristy area but by the end of the day we were very grateful for the peaceful and quiet location. We enjoyed a local hair wash/head massage and herbal bath, which were only a few minutes walk away.

• Christine (10/5): Feel very privileged to have stayed here: spending time with Thanh on a very special day. - Welcoming, relaxed, peaceful in a perfect location for exploring the real Vietnam. Night time trip to the Pagoda/temples was magical. We did a hike with Thanh to the most wonderful view point and learnt so much about herbal medicine and Vietnamese culture. Followed by a phenomenal trip to the Galaxy cave. Then spent the afternoon cycling around meeting beautiful happy farmers. Incredible and a highlight of our 5 week trip. Thank you Nothing!

Me recomendaron el tour nocturno a la pagoda y fue lo mejor que hicimos en Ninh Binh, recomendable 100% La comida es casera y está bien. Cenamos allí 3 días, pero nos pareció alto el precio de la cena, sin poder elegir que comer, nos dieron 2 días lo mismo. Habríamos preferido poder elegir entre 2 opciones o que nos dieran algo distinto ya que estuvimos solo 3 dias.

Thanh was very knowledgeable about the best places to visit and took us on some great excursions off the main tourist trail, and Hanh's cooking was amazing :)! The staff and family were very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us, very accommodating. The food was delicious and plentiful. The air conditioning didn't seem to be that cold in our bungalow and when it was hot outside (feels like 48°) we needed it a bit cooler.

Dat waren echt tours op maat en niet toeristisch. Wij vonden het allemaal geweldig. Thanh heeft oog voor zijn gasten en zelfs toen een van onze kinderen ziek werd stonden ze ons bij (zowel in de accommodatie als op een excursie) - De prijs van excursies is hoger dan bij andere aanbieders, maar wat ons betreft elke euro waard. Niks!

He organised everything and took us to all the best places to see. Thanh wife provided us with tasty food for breakfast and evening meal. One of the highlights was a bike ride through the countryside. We stopped at a locals house and had tea and a laugh with google translate. Thanh is local to the area and can offer so much knowledge. All was very good.

Thanh gave us great advice for activities and tours and his wife cooks amazing food, so definitely do the dinner option! The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We loved our stay. • Sarah (10/5): Wonderful stay in beautiful surroundings! - Beautiful quiet and calm setting with excellent hosts. From collection at our hotel, through three night’s accommodation, daily excursions and food, to drop off back at Noi Bai airport we had a wonderful stay. Thanh was so helpful and considerate bringing together an itinerary personalised to our needs and with time to relax. Mrs Thanh cooked excellent meals for lunch and dinner and the honesty fridge was great for beers, soft drinks and water. We had a wonderful mix of excursions with a driver put together thoughtfully by Thanh. We loved the evening boat ride through the Van Long wetlands, the morning trip at Tang An, the late afternoon visit to the Bai Dinh pagoda and the visit to the amazing bear sanctuary followed by the Cuc Phuong National Park. Mix this with the relaxing round the pool and a great night’s sleep in very comfortable beds and you have the perfect relaxing retreat in beautiful countryside. Do not hesitate to book this Homestay as you will be in for a treat! Thank you Thanh and family for a wonderful stay!

• Mirjam (9/5): Beautiful bungalow and delicious food! - We visited the homestay with 2 children (3 and 11 months) and the hosts of this property cannot be of greater help. They provided a cot, a high chair and a child seat for the bikes. They’re also super helpful with local info and trips. We ate breakfast and dinner at the property every morning and night and loved the home cooked Vietnamese food. The bungalows are beautiful and spacious.

We were taken around the local area & we were told about, & introduced to, the local way of life. We shared tea & met some amazing people. On this tour with Thanh we learnt so much about the life of farmers on the rice paddy's, & yes we did ask lots of questions & Thanh was a wealth of information. In the afternoon we went on a canoe ride to see monkeys. The whole experience at Ninh Binh Family Homestay was time spent with remarkable people. Our Homestay was a 10 out of 10 from us.👍👍👍👍

• Carley (9/5): Calm, comfortable retreat - Beautiful, calm space run by a very kind family. They were helpful, proactive, and attentive. We loved our room and we were very comfortable. Highly recommend eating dinners on site, the food is delicious, healthy and fresh. There is a nice hot bath spa down the street with some organic products we enjoyed. The location is pretty far from the two tourist centers that have the kayaking tours and more restaurant and shopping choices. About thirty to forty-five minutes by motorbike or car. It's a good location if you want a simple neighborhood, to eat on site, and visit the national park or wetlands. We loved the wetlands.
• Rebecca (10/5): One of the best travel experience's you can have - What an incredible experience this stay was! The price to stay here is above the going rate but worth every penny. This is not the usual stay I am used to, we felt part of the family and were treated to the most amazing trips to see all the area has to offer. Thanh and his wife took very good care of us, we had lovely food and very personal tours, including a biking tour conducted by Thanh himself. You can see how proud of the area the family is, the area is very special. Not to mention their beautiful dog Bin who was a delight! We had 5 days here in total and did 5 tours, the bike tour, a tour of the pagoda by night. A temple tour, and 2 boats rides (seeing very rare monkeys) in 2 national parks. Then lastly, a tour of the animal sanctuary's (including the amazing black bears, monkeys and some turtles) and a jungle walk. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. There is a pool that was nice and cold which was needed after all the exploring. Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance :) Nothing to dislike!
• Linda (8/5): Good homestay to explore surrounding nature - We had a very nice stay and the place is great to explore the landscape around, going to Tam Coc etc and visiting the national park. Mountainbikes were great and a scooter was readily available so would recommend. Our host had good advise for scooter tours etc and his wife a great cook! We visited Cuc Phuong national park on our own and had a good time although our host warned us about the road etc in the park. So we wondered a little afterwards as it wasn’t a problem at all in our opinion.

Thanh and his family were very welcoming and he helped us to plan a beautiful program: pagoda by night, rivers and caves, a bit of hiking and stunning landscape. The homestay is very peaceful with a wonderful garden. An authentic experience, far from the big hostels complex. You need to do everything in car or bicycle. But Thanh will arrange it for you!

• Wynsum (10/5): Ninh Binh Family Homestay is an oasis that I hope to return to someday! - The breakfast and meals I had at the homestay were delicious, and prepared with care. The area around the property was exactly what I wanted. A peaceful, authentic picture of small town life. Everyone I met was incredible helpful and kind. I can’t think of anything that could have made my stay better. The staff went above and beyond to help me with whatever I needed.
• Richard (10/5): Really comfortable place with excellent facilities and staff, great value for money ! - Wow !! What an amazing place ! Thanh our host arranged everything we needed from our transfer from Halong, massages, to some brilliant tours where he takes you off the beaten track and to the better places to see away from the throng of other tourists. He explains a lot about Vietnamese culture and life with his strong English. His wife provides the best food and all the family are there helping. The place is very clean and comfortable with aircon rooms, swimming pool, beautiful gardens. His story of how he built his business from scratch is inspiring and credit to him and family for creating such a great place to stay. It’s like living with a Vietnamese family rather than being in a big hotel. All of this and he is very fare with his pricing for the quality of what you receive. 5 ⭐️ rating from myself and my wife. • Hansjörg (10/5): Amazing Stay for Family - We absolutely loved our stay at Ninh Binh family Homestay. To say they were welcoming would be an understatement. The family took care of us as if we were their own. When our daughter was sick, they brought us to a doctor. They babysat our youngest so we could still do an adventure with our oldest daughter. We had the most amazing authentic tour of the surrounding areas all by ourselves. It was a stop we will never forget and hope to return to. As for the room it was spotless and had everything we needed. The grounds are gorgeous and the beds are extremely comfortable. It was a nice break to have such a comfortable stay in the middle of our trip. I do hope we can one day return.

• Gail (10/5): Such a great property with everything you need .. quiet , clean and super friendly .. would not hesitate to recommend th - Loved this homestay in the village of Bai Dinh Pagoda .. about 20 minutes out of Nihn Bihn ..was super comfortable and nothing was too much .. Our host Thanh took us out to discover his village and the amazing landscape and caves .. he even arranged a herbal bath for our weary bones just down the road .. There is nothing not to like about this property

Such a serene and peaceful setting, beautiful pool, outdoor seating areas, bridge over the fish pond etc. Family are lovely, can't do enough for you, but in a genuine way. Can arrange tours, taxis, day trips, everything. Nothing, all positives.

• Robert (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at this homestay. Our hosts were fantastic and made us feel right at home. The meals were very good and there was so much food! Scott even suggested some rainy weather activities which were fantastic! Check out the Sao So King Herbal Bath if you get the chance! We would definitely recommend this stay!
• Kyyote (10/5): A home away from home in the country - The first good impression was when Scott picked us up at the bus station in the city of Ninh Bing and drove us through the countryside to his home in a small village about 20 km away. The homestay was clean and modern, and indeed the home of a multi-generational family that lived among their guests. The individual rooms had superb views of the idyllic neighborhood, and the common area was sheltered outdoors with tables for dining. Scott’s wife consistently prepared the best and most abundant meals we had in Vietnam, prepared from foods chosen freshly each day from the morning market. We dined with other guests from all over the world, making for good company at the homestay and on tours that Scott guided or planned out for us on bicycle. He provided a depth of insight that only a local resident could know. He is truly interested in giving his guests the fullest experience for the time they are there.
• Lorri (10/5): Paradise in Vietnam - My daughter wanted me to experience staying at a home stay as we were travelling through SEASIA and staying at hotels. How charming our experience was at Ninh Bin Homestay. Scott was warm and accommodating. From the moment we got picked up at the train station by him until we left he made sure everything was to our liking. The room we had was lovely with a view surrounding us of nature. The dinner we had was amazing shared with other travellers and new friends. I highly recommend staying at this homestay.
• Catherine (4/5): Oneerlijke praktijken - De eigenaar is vriendelijk, zijn vrouw daarentegen veel minder. Hij is heel behulpzaam, doch lichtte ons wel op door een veel hogere prijs te vragen voor het boeken van een treinticket dan de officiële prijs die door de spoorwegmaatschappij geafficheerd stond in het station toen we daar arriveerden.
• Louise (10/5): Great experience - Wow, we booked this accommodation on the morning of our stay, and failed to take into account how far it was from railway station (17kms). We arrived by train and required a taxi to get to Ninh Binh Family home stay. We arrived to a very welcoming oasis, welcomed with a tea in the beautiful courtyard of the home stay. Our fellow guests were unanimously positive about their stay at the hotel, it all seemed too good to be true, but we were to discover it was our best stay in Vietnam. Scott and his family are incredibly helpful, and really love their small piece in paradise. Scott will assist you to make an individual plan to maximise your time, arranging visit to beautiful places with no tourists, and to see the life of the local people. The Ninh Binh province is magnificent and should be on everyone's itinerary.
• Cathrine E. (4/5): Charming con artist - Home stay tucked away in a small quiet community away from the town of Ninh Binh. Nice to be away from tourist areas and stay in a local community. Be aware that the isolation leaves you dependent on the home stay owner and his family for transportation and meals if you bused to the area. Nothing is walking distance and you will be charged premium prices for meals and drinks including water as well as transportation and sight seeing options. The area is a tourist destination with professional packages available. Do your homework before you arrive.Tang suggested options for sight seeing which were adhoc, poorly planned and executed and put us in questionable situations that were not safe. Our cave trip had only our handheld flashlights to lead the way for 45 minutes into a dark hole no one knew about. When it was time to leave for Hanoi I paid for a luxury bus ride to Hanoi with a promise that I would be dropped off near my hotel. Then an hour before leaving I was told I would be dropped off within 3km of my hotel and could take a taxi the rest of the way. I was in fact summarily dropped off at the side of a busy road in rush hour traffic in south Hanoi 7km from my hotel in the Old Quarter without any information as to where I was or how to catch a taxi from that location.Traffic so thick and frenetic I could not cross the street. In the end it cost me more for the taxi to the hotel than the ride to Hanoi. Overall felt taken advantage of and duped. Lessons learned.
• LEBRUN (10/5): Inoubliable - De l'accueil au départ, tout fut parfait. Au delà de la chambre et des locaux très propres et de bon goût, le propriétaire au travers des repas fournies très bons et très copieux nous a fait visiter sa région dans des endroits calmes et magnifiques durant les 3 jours que nous y avons passé. Un séjour inoubliable avec une famille très agréable loin des sentiers battus que nous recommandons fortement.
• Richard (10/5): Perfect Experience - Thanh and his family were unbelievably welcoming. They knew all the best places to go around Ninh Binh, including the ones that were not nearly as crowded by other tourists. The dinners that they cooked at night were some of the best food I've had, truly not something to be missed. I recommend renting a motorbike for the day, as simply cruising around through the beautiful limestone mountains is awe inspiring and not something I'll soon forget. I can't thank Thanh enough for his hospitality, and I would absolutely recommend this homestay for anyone.
