- Katherine (10/5): - This is an absolutely charming and super comfortable property. The place has delightful art nouveau decor but the retro charm is combined with fast wifi, easily accessible plugs and lights everywhere, comfortable beds with a lot of excellent pillows and crisp sheets, great water pressure, and a really well equipped kitchen full of snacks and everything you need to feel right at home. Those leather couches and chairs in the living room are so cushy.
Carole is a thoughtful and extremely welcoming host. After a long grueling winter drive, being met with a fire and a humidifier running was absolutely perfect. The list of all the nearby stores and restaurants with their opening hours was a really helpful touch.
An early walk along the river the next morning communing with ravens and enjoying the ice lilypads was a lovely mind-clearing start to the day. I would stay here again anytime!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is one of the loveliest places that I've stayed in. It is clean, comfortable and cared for. The history of the building itself is quite interesting and displayed throughout. And Carole, the building caretaker/hostess, is a gem! She goes out of her way to make sure that you are comfortable and cared for. Plus there's easily available info on local businesses for shopping and dining experiences.
- KH (10/5): - Great space! Such a little gem in Northern Alberta. So many little touches like a diffuser in the hall and snacks in the kitchen that make it a comfortable and unique place. Comfy beds and huge bathroom. Walkable to the brewery and the Board and Barrel. I'll be booking again for my next trip to PR! Be aware of the stairs,, if you have large luggage they may be a bit tricky.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Second time for me to stay really enjoy staying love how clean
- Don (10/5): Home away from Home - Always a great place to stay at when visiting Peace River, beautiful rooms set up like home away from home.
- Sharon (10/5): - I always love staying here and am looking forward to the two stays I have coming up. Carole, the property manager, does all she can to accomodate what you need and make sure you're comfortable. The hotel itself is beautifully restored while it's history is honored.

- Tara (8/5): - What an incredibly cool place to stay.
We were looking for something that we could stay at with our family and dogs. We all loved it and it was really great to cook our own dinner for the whole family and have a really nice space to spend time getting to know our family more. It was really comfortable and would recommend it.
Carole was super helpful and nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing, well kept rooms in a historic building with a great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was by far the most comfortable place Ive ever stayed in!! Was seeing clients and they also commented on what a great space it was to come in to.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable - like home suites. Love the history of the place. A truly unique and comfortable place to stay. The manager is absolutely amazing and so welcoming.
- Tom (10/5): Historic with the comforts of home - A business trip to Peace River made more comfortable by having a wonderful suite at a reasonable price. Comforts of home abound in this historic building!
- Katie (10/5): - This suite accommodation is a generous sized 2 bedroom suite equipped with everything you need for a wonderful stay. Checking in and out is instant as you are provided a code for entry prior to your arrival- no waiting to check in! In the suite snacks and bottled water, juice, coffee and selection of tea is provided or if you call ahead the manager will arrange for your room to be stocked with whatever you like for a small fee. The hotel is located right on a walking path, has a fire pit outside and if you are in a room on the north side a small creek will babble you to sleep through your open bedroom window making it a unique experience to stay there. The best part of my stay was Carole the manager who is eager to meet your ever wish without being intrusive or invading your privacy. She thoughtfully anticipated little touches like setting up a humidifier or offering extra laundry pods so I could go home with all my laundry done before I left for home 😊! She has a little West Highland terrier who is the most adorable well behaved friendly ambassador who will certainly put a smile on your face.
- Shawna (10/5): - This suite was so unique and cute! We loved our stay!
- Gregory (10/5): - The space was wonderful. It made me regret I was only spending one night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quaint Retreat in the Heart of the Peace - Such lovely service, the hotel manager will do your grocery shopping for you and have it ready when you arrive for $5. Really lovely rooms, it felt like being at home. I would absolutely stay again and recommend it to friends.
- Brenda (10/5): 5-Star Jewel in the Peace Country - When the welcome at the front door is by an adorable West Highland terrier, how can you go wrong?
Very unique hotel. In the centre of the Town of Peace River, the St. Augustine Mission has been renovated with style and grace with a nod to the history of the settlement and area. Very walk-able area - access to all the businesses in the downtown and then turn around and you have access to the walking trails and parks along the river.
Similar to an apartment setup, with access via code obtained prior to your arrival. 7 available suites. No attached restaurant though moments away from many. There is no front desk but management resides on the property and is readily available. If you have mobility issues, there is no elevator so I would suggest confirming a lower level suite if an issue. However, the top floor suite in which I was in was worth 10 times the price I paid - 4 window dormers, Arts and Crafts lighting, 2 bedrooms, living room with fireplace, complete (and I mean complete) kitchen, washer/dryer and work desk. Everything you need is provided, including the little touches that only a 5-star hotel would consider (and maybe even beyond that). For example, numerous white, soft and varied-sized towels are complimented with one dark facecloth to use to remove makeup - totally makes sense but who thinks of that?
I have travelled to many places, both for business and for pleasure, within Canada and without, and this hotel ranks as one of the best I have ever visited.
