Guest Reviews
- Vanda (10/5): unique experience - tradiotal ryokan woth onsen, tradional extraordinary meals, service, even ride to the station, thank you so much for everything, we appreciate the translations of the meals and willingness to share japanese culture with us, unforgettable everything excellent
- Alexandre (6/5): Very good place but have been overcharged - Nice place with clean bedrooms and a good overall stay Overcharged on checkout and never reimbursed

- Yijia (8/5): Good stay! - Owner was friendly and kind. The food was nutritious and luxurious. Their indoor and outdoor hot spring were very comfortable and relaxing. There is some traffic noise you can hear overnight.

- Damien (10/5): Excellent inn with delicious breakfast - Affordable and well equipped ryokan, room was on larger size and equipped with kettle, tv…
Breakfast was outstanding! My only regret was to not having ordered diner the day before. Maybe but if allergy due to tatamis floor but manageable
- jeffrey (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff.

- Gretchina (9/5): A lovely stay at a small traditional Japanese inn with amazing food 🍱! - We had a lovely stay at Oyado Ichifuji. It is an older, traditional-style inn with tatami rooms and shared bathrooms. Because of its small size, it was easy and comfortable to share the toilets and the ofuros. The highlights of our stay though were the gracious, accommodating owner and the amazing old-style Japanese cuisine. We still reminisce about the delicious, plentiful dinner and breakfast we enjoyed there.
In the morning, we enjoyed a visit to the monkey park which was just a 5 minute-walk away. The tram station offers luggage storage and bus transportation to the train station. :)
Thank you for your hospitality! The only challenge was reaching the property from the train station. We didn’t realize that we could catch a bus from the Kinugawa Onsen station and instead walked from Kinugawa Koen station. The 20-minute walk was easy luckily - mostly flat and the weather cooperated - so not really a problem. I would though recommend contacting the owner beforehand though to get the bus information from Kinugawa Onsen station.
- Chris (9/5): Kinogawa onsen was beautiful, and I would love to stay here again. - The food was delicious and plentiful. I told the owner that I had to leave before breakfast, and I was given packed onigiri before they drove me to the train station.
- Benjamin (10/5): Lovely stay in Nikko. The food is impeccable and you can tell a lot of love goes into the work there - Ichifuji-san was a joy to get to know. His food was excellent. The Onsen were perfect for a long day out touring. Ichifuji-san even drove me to the train station!
- Christine (9/5): Perfect stay with private onsen - We really enjoyed the private onsens available on the property. There was a room for indoor onsen, and another with both indoor and outdoor onsen.
It was nice to enjoy a private onsen to ourselves after a long day out travelling.
There is also the family’s restaurant less than 100m away from the hotel. We had it for two nights and were really impressed by the grilled butter squid and the stir fried offal. It was really convenient for a warm and homey Japanese dinner fix.
Besides that, the room itself was also very spacious and I enjoyed my first time sleeping on a tatami. There were also heater in the room that kept the room warm.
There was also room service everyday with our towels replaced The only downside of the hotel is its location being quite a walk from the nearest train station (about 20mins) in the cold especially.
- Nikolay (10/5): Exceptional - This was our first visit to Japan. My friends recommended this place specifically because it has a homely atmosphere. The owner gave us a short tour and took us to Toshogu Shrine. Dinner and breakfast were great! I’m very uncomfortable that we weren’t able to eat everything because the dishes were unusual for us =(
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robbie (9/5): Come for the gourmet food. Stay for the convivial hospitality - This traditional Ryokan provided the best food we’ve eaten in Japan. Every meal was a gourmet feast, a delight for the eyes and taste buds : get the half board option! The host was so welcoming and convivial to talk and drink sake with. He even drove us to the train station twice. The onsen was fabulous. Tatami mattresses were comfortable, with tea and aircon in the rooms. Location could have been easier for public transport.
- Ming (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kansinee (10/5): A stunning boutique hotel - The hotel is small and boutique. The owner and all staff are very nice. As many reviews, all foods are amazing. Do not miss to making reservation for a delicious dinner and order some sake. Breakfast is so good. All ingrediants are local. The pumpkin is very very sweet🥰. Sharing toilet, Onsen and bathing room is not a problem for me. None
- Alexis (8/5): Very good -
- Zahra (9/5): Superb -
(10/5): Exceptional -
- Guat (8/5): I will stay again - Food was really good and staffs are attentive. The queue for onsen.
- Rajendra (8/5): Very good -
- Jae (9/5): Superb -
- Theo (10/5): Cool - Thé food was Amazing, the osen too. Thé owners was super nice. I enjoyed m'y stay Nothing in particular
- Ming (8/5): Nice Traditional Japanese Family Run Inn - As a foreign visitor, Oyado Ichifuji provides a nice way to experience Japanese hospitality in a traditional setting. The owner was super helpful in providing tips and hints on things to do locally and in the region. They even offered to do my laundry when they realized I run out of clean clothes! The breakfast included features delicious traditional Japanese cooking. The facility is well kept and very clean. The only down side is that the hotel is by the main road through so there is a bit more traffic noise. However, I was usually tired at night after a day of hiking so had no problem sleeping.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- EmperorMax (6/5): Nice, small ryokan for a short stay - This hotel was nice, clean, and small, I think it had about eight rooms. Located right off of Rt 121 in Kinogawa Onsen, about 15 minutes north of Nikko in the onsen area. We went there in the off-season during the week and were the only family there, so the hotel was very quiet and the two onsens were not crowded. The manager was very polite and nice, the room was extremely clean and good size. On the negative side, if the hotel was full, there is only one bathroom per floor to share and the onsens are rather small. At times the road was a bit noisy during the week as our room was alongside the road. Overall, it was a nice experience if you like small ryokans.
