Freundliche und hilfsbereite Besitzerin und Angestellte. Verständigung in Englisch sehr gut. Nachmittags gab es immer ein selbstgemachtes Dessert im Kühlschrank.
• Melissa (10/5): Bezaubernd - Süßes kleines Cottage mit Meerblick. Die Betten waren wirklich bequem. Eine kleine Kochecke ist vorhanden, wo man sich zumindest ein paar Kleinigkeiten zubereiten kann. Wir haben jeden Tag einen Snack in den Kühlschrank gestellt bekommen aus eigenem Anbau. Wir haben von den Gastgebern viele Infos und Tipps erhalten. Das war sehr praktisch und zuvorkommend. Die Bushaltestelle ist quasi vor der Türe. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
• David (10/5): Wonderful serene place in a great location. - Beautiful location overlooking the sea in a serene area of the coast. The outdoor seating was a wonderful place to start the day with breakfast and a coffee, and to end the day with a sunset. We only stayed three days, but could have spent a month. The location is perfect for exploring the sites in Yakushima. We bought premade food (sushi and udon, etc.) most days and enjoyed the room for dinner. Really nothing. Maybe the trash can could be a bit bigger but that is a small detail.

• Camilla (10/5): Wholesome and homely!!!! - location is great. not too far from anbo, very close to waterfalls, and in front of the cottage there is a very famous doughnut shop that will definetely be one of the best doughnut of your life! the staff is also very helpful, so many information handed about the islands, the forrest, different trails, etc. the staff gave new dessert every day in your fridge its very cute. the property itself is amazing. bathroom is big and balcony is huge!! the bathub outside adds a nice touch to it. kitchen equipments is enough for your day to day quick cooking if needed. bed and duvet is comfy!! nothing!

The apartment is extremely clean and very well kept. Everything works perfectly, and the location is great too (especially if you have a car): about 20 minutes from the nearest town and less than 30 minutes from most of the island’s major attractions. car is needed

• Tim (9/5): - Went with my partner for four days. The accomodation was easy to find and check-in went smoothly. The hosts were very kind, making us felt exceptionally welcome on the island, leaving an amazing impression on us! They even provided some delicious desserts while we were gone from the cottage! Since we went hiking it was also really nice that there was a cheap washing machine and that the cottage has a shoe freshener/dryer. Overall we had an amazing experience and would book here again!

• Melissa (9/5): Yes! great spot. - The staff was very friendly and helpful, making delicious deserts as well! the room was big enough. the plants in the yard were beautiful and provided a lot of privacy. The outdoor tub looks small, but actually fits tall people and was very nice. It's a nice quiet spot. There were no barking dogs in the neighborhood and we couldn't hear the road noise. There is easy parking in front. And a homemade gelato cafe next door! I appreciated the full size fridge. There was just enough pans for cooking, but it was a little challenging with no counter space. So plan for simple food. There is a lot to do on the island and this made a great base for our extended stay. I always want softer pillows in Japan. Some wall hooks would be helpful for unpacked bags and jackets.

• Nicolas (9/5): Séjour agréable à Yakushima - La chambre était confortable et le balcon était agréable. Les petites attentions avec des desserts avec des fruits locaux sont très appréciables. Salle de bain un peu petite et espace pas trop optimisé.
• Wesley (9/5): Luxury remote stay in a tropical paradise - We especially loved the welcome drink and the desserts we found in our fridge each day. The private outdoor bathtub, covered patio and small kitchenette were great features. I recommend bringing earplugs despite the very quiet location, because for some reason there is some short music played at 6am each day over broadcast speakers, followed by local announcements at 7am.

Personalet er meget søde og betænksomme og vi fik uvurderlig hjælp, da vores færge blev forsinket på grund af blæsevejr - personalet taler engelsk og er nemme at kommunikere med. Hver dag, når vi kom tilbage vores ture rundt på øen, stod der smoothies og lækre desserter lavet af lokale råvarer køleskabet. Stedet ligger 20 minutters kørsel fra lufthavnen og 40 minutters kørsel fra havnen i Miyanoura. Det er tæt på indkøbsmuligheder i Onoaida og restuaranter i Anbo. Der er service til 4 personer og alt nødvendigt køkkengrej til basal madlavning. Vi havde lejet en bil, så det var ikke svært at komme til.

• Jenny (3/5): Violating of our privacy, OCD repetitive paperwork, rules, and instructions - The patio is lovely, and it was convenient to have a kitchenette. The insane amount of repetitive instructions. Immediately after booking we were informed that we must rent a car to get there. We didn’t plan on that, and no cars were available on the island except a van for ¥50,000/day. After a LOT of back and forth with the owner, who wasted so much of our time arguing with us, he finally told us that we could just take the bus there and that it was a one minute walk from the bus stop. 🤷‍♀️ The worst thing was the passive-aggressive, OCD behavior of the owner. After we arrived and completed a contactless check-in, we were overwhelmed by the amount of signage and instructions everywhere in the room and on the table. Things were repeated two and three times in the pages and pages of rules. We left for dinner soon after, because we were running late. The owner then ENTERED OUR ROOM while we were at dinner. This felt very strange to us. He circled items on the paperwork for us to fill out (passport number, nationality etc, but I am a resident of Japan, so it these things did not apply). The paper asked for our plan each day, whether we had a guide, when we were leaving and coming back each day (we didn’t know), etc etc., questions that were nosy and unnecessary. He also moved our key from the entrance to the coffee table. He apparently could not greet us when we arrived, so we did the contactless check-in and followed all of the extensive instructions he sent us in our messages, but I still do not understand why he felt the need to enter our room while we were out having dinner. We later asked our friend about this, because she’s a Yakushima local, and is familiar with many hotels and small accommodations on the island, but she said it was very odd behavior. Then- he did it again the next day. Once again with the passive aggressive circles on the paper that asked us too many things. We finally asked for some privacy on our last day. We still never met the host; he never greeted us, and only entered our room when we were not...
• Nicolas (10/5): - Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in dieser wunderschönen Unterkunft. Die Besitzerin war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Apartment verfügt über eine Außendusche bzw. Badewanne sowie einen Balkon mit einem herrlichen Ausblick. Besonders begeistert haben uns die köstlichen Desserts und das Willkommensgetränk aus lokalen Früchten – beides hat unseren Aufenthalt zusätzlich versüßt. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

• Maria (10/5): - Wir wurden ganz nett empfangen mit einem selbstgemachten Drink und es gab eine Dekoration auf dem Bett mit frischen Blumen. Da wir kein Auto bekamen, da wir nicht die japanische Übersetzung meines internationalen Führerausweis dabei hatten, waren wir gestresst und nicht so fröhlich bei der Ankunft mit dem Taxi. Wir erzählten unser Unglück. Siissko, die uns empfangen hatte, gab uns viele Informationen über was wir trotzdem machen könnten. Sie nahm sich viel Zeit und versuchte uns positiv zu stimmen. Sie war so hilfsbereit und einfühlsam. Sie bot uns an, dass sie am nächsten Tag, an ihrem freien Nachmittag uns mit dem Auto hinfahren würde, wo wir gerne hingehen würden. Sie hat uns dann von unserer 4 stündigen Wanderung abgeholt ( musste dafür eine schmale, kurvige Strasse fahren) und uns mit einem wunderbaren Nachmittag beschenkt, sie kaufte essen und ein spezielles Getränk für uns ein, fuhr uns zum Supermarkt , sodass wir noch für uns essen einkaufen konnten, hielt an allen Aussichtspunkten an, weil mein Sohn da gerne Fotos machen wollte und später assen wir noch gemeinsam Abendessen. Ihre zurückhaltende, einfühlsame Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft werden wir nie vergessen. Sie hat an sovieles gedacht und spricht sehr gut Englisch. Wir hatten zusätzlich zu unserem Balkon mit dem kleinen Bad, eine Plattform die weiter unten war mit Blick auf einen kleinen Bach und von Bäumen umgeben. Abends, wenn wir nachhause kamen, war ein kleines selbstgemachtes Fruchtdessert im Kühlschrank aus pestizidfreien selbstgepflückten Früchten. Der Sternenhimmel war wunderschön und klar zu sehen. Im Garten gab es viele Schmetterlinge. Es gibt einen gesammelten Ordner mit Vorschläge für Unternehmungen. Bei einem nächsten Besuch von Yakushima würden wir wieder hier übernachten und dann ein Rivertrekking machen mit einem Guide. Die Gastgeber waren immer erreichbar. Nichts.

The host was very welcoming and reactive (thank you for the gifts). Beds were comfortable. Possibility to cook in house. A car is needed as the location of the apartments isn't central, but the island is small. A great ice-cream and coffee stop is just beside.

• Jacques (10/5): A magical stay at a quaint, cosy cottage with your very own outdoor deck and traditional bath. - Mori no Fairy is a quaint, cosy wooden cottage that faces the sea. Situated on the south-eastern side of Yakushima island, a stay in this property added a sense of homeliness to an already-magical experience that was Yakushima. I stayed alone, but the size of the cottage would have comfortably fit four people. There were two AC units that kept me warm and comfortable, and a simple yet plush couch to rest your weary legs after hiking through the mystical forests of the island. The bathroom facilities were kept immaculately clean throughout my stay, with warm and cool water available. Towels were changed daily: if you choose to sleep in, they'll leave clean towels outside your room for you. There's a small kitchenette for light cooking: good enough for preparing a simple breakfast or a quick meal to take along with you during your hikes. The highlight of this property is definitely the outdoor deck. There's a small table and some chairs where you can sit and enjoy alfresco-style dining, and two recliners for nightly star-gazing sessions. There's even a small observation deck (accessed via a ladder with about 9 steps) that you can climb up onto for a better view. Last but definitely not least: a goemonburo, which I learned is a traditional Japanese iron bath. Imagine that: being able to soak in your own personal steaming outdoor bath while admiring the sea view that lies before you, and all this after a picturesque but grueling hike when all your muscles are sore. There are some experiences you know will stay with you for life, and this is one of them for me. The hospitality of the property's staff was gracious and welcoming. Upon arrival, my cottage was clearly marked out for me with proper instructions on what to do. They were was very prompt in their replies to my enquiries before I arrived, and they spoke very good English. As per stated on their listing, a rental car is necessary in order to fully enjoy a stay here. The closest convenience store is about a 15-minute drive away. Taxis are an option, but will be pretty expensive. Then again, in my opinion a rental car is also necessary if you're looking to make the most out of your trip to Yakushima, so this was a non-factor for me.

Hotel staff helped us in advance to rent a car (much needed in the island), on our arrival we received a lot of information and advice about the area, and a welcome drink/snack was offered every day. The room itsef is comfartable, with a nice balcony and view. The bathroom is very small and it is not possible to place the toiletries there. Beware - the hotel allows smoking on the balcony, which was a BIG MINUS for us as non smokers that wants to enjoy as well the balcony with the small open air bath, since the adjacent room inhabitents were smoking.
• Louis (10/5): Exceptional - What a wonderful place to stay on Yakushima. Sparkling clean, comfortable, and well located. Cottage Fairy owners provide a unique dessert daily in your refrigerator, made from their own fruit. Highly recommend.
• Jinghang (10/5): Feels like home! - Great ocean view and value of money. Clean facilities and extremely friendly staff + daily welcome desserts.
• Leibowitz (10/5): Exceptional - They left little treats every night! The outdoor tub was also wonderful.
• Edurne (9/5): Great location and outdoor bath - The bath outside and the attention to detail from the staff. Not much space for cooking.
• Lining (10/5): Exceptional - Super clean and spacious, esp compared to accommodations of similar cost in cities . and the host was so kind, surprising us with fresh fruit desserts every night and even showing us a skink when we expressed an interest in the island’s amphibians! I didn’t realize the bath was so small, but that’s my bad for not looking at the listing more closely
• Charlene (10/5): We want to come back and would definitely stay at the cottage again. - We loved our stay here. The host took her time to explain everything and answered a lot of my questions. Very nice and responsive. The trees on the back patio invite a lot of birds so I got to watch them every morning. We rented a car, the cottage was easy to find and access. It's very comfortable, the air temp in the room, the furniture, the hot tub on the patio, the kitchenette. Although we mostly ate the already prepared food from the grocery stores. Nothing, would definitely stay again.

• Daphne (10/5): Exceptional - The girl who checked us in was very friendly and had very clear explanations for everything! She really helped us when we were ill-prepared for the Jomon Sugi hike, which we appreciated a lot! There were complimentary welcome drinks and a dessert on the second day which were delicious. The cabin was clean with all the facilities you could need, plus there was a hose in the front yard for you to clean your hiking shoes. The morning view from the deck was also amazing! Note the accommodation is about 15 minutes drive south of Anbo, so it is a bit out of the way of the main attractions, but it wasn't a big deal as we enjoyed the peace. The outdoor bath was quite dusty and could do with cleaning.
• Joe (9/5): Superb - Such a lovely place with a view of the sea on one side and mountains behind you. The deck with the outside bath is nice to relax on and there is plenty of space in the room. Comfy beds (two singles rather than a double but you can't have everything). The lady who runs the place is really nice and helpful. Good location for driving to places.
• Rina (10/5): Yakushima is a very beautiful, peaceful and interesting place and the people are very friendly and warm, not to mention - Privacy and spacious room, especially the one with a balcony; quiet and right with the nature. Special thanks to Shiiko who speaks good English and gives good restaurants’s recommendations, also the delicious dessert provided by the owner!
• Paul (10/5): Exceptional - We had a really nice stay at Mori no Fairy. The Appartments have enough space. Especially, we enjoyed our breakfast on the beautiful terrace. Also, the outdoor tub is nice. Our host was always available and ready to give recommendations for exploring the island. Definitely would recommend!
• Adetokunbo (10/5): Exceptional - I went by myself and the management met me outside and helped me to my room. They were super amazing and had a nice surprise waiting for me in my room. The location was amazing. Beds were nice and comfy. Also there was this chicken outside that I made friends with....but also I ran away from 😆
• Alice (9/5): Cosy, comfortable stay in a beautiful part of the world - Location and setting is beautiful for these small cottages. As the island is small, you are never too far from the main towns and walking trails but a car is essential. We found the cottage to be clean and warm, it was very comfortable and the decking out the back was a lovely place to watch the sun rise and set. The bathroom was perfect, functional and fully stocked with any toiletries we'd need for our stay. We rented wet gear and hiking boots from a local sporting goods store for the duration of our stay. This was ideal as we didn't have to carry them in our luggage for the rest of our trip (when we wouldn't need them) and you will get wet otherwise. Its a rainy island! We ate in on two nights during our stay and had everything we needed for some basic cooking. We really enjoyed the welcome drinks and homemade desserts that the host gave to us every evening of our stay. This was a lovely touch and all were delicious. It was a great way to try some local fruits and produce too. Staff were really nice and seemed genuinely interested in what brought us to Yakushima and what we got up to during our stay. I don't think there was any negatives with our stay. The accommodation was exactly as described and Yakushima is a beautiful part of Japan!

• Roosevelt (10/5): Overall it was very nice place to stay.The staff was so nice - It was beautiful and quiet on are stay there Didn’t have a view of the ocean.They need to cut down all the vegetation so we can have a better view sitting on the back patio.
• Michael (10/5): A great local hideaway in Yakushima. - The hospitality was absolutely amazing, from activity recommendations to the little extras, we felt very welcome by everyone. We mixed eating out with cooking dinner in the room, enjoying sunsets on the deck. At night, the sky deck and outdoor bath also made for a perfect end to the evenings--talking, talking, talking while looking out at the ocean and the Milky Way.

• Deena (10/5): Gorgeous, tropical setting with lots of privacy - Loved the setting - overlooking the coast with private backyard and hot tub. Rooms had everything we needed, including kitchen stuff. Staff were extremely communicative and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay special. Beds share the main room so it’s best to have similar bed times. Although the annex had a loft too.
• Alexandra (9/5): Private, well equipped cabin stay. - Staff were extremely friendly, we received a full tour of the cabin on arrival as well as a welcome drink made of locally grown tankan (orange) juice and a dessert on the second night. The cabin was clean, well set up, and comfortable. It is in a quiet location and the outlook was extremely private. I thought the outdoor bath was an onsen but it's tap water in a traditional style bath; still a lovely, relaxing space and the water was nice and hot! There wasn't a lot of room for bags, so the room got quite cluttered quite quickly.
• Dolev (10/5): Amazing location. Very reccomended. - Great view. Not far from the food in Anbo via car. Quiet location. Ocean View. Outside tub was very fun. Free desserts were provided. Not too far from Yakusugi land. Requires a car, but a car is reccomended for Yakushima anyways.

• Ling (10/5): 2 nights are not enough - Cosy little cottage, with little kitchen, enough for you to get some wagyu from supermarket and cook by yourself. PRIVATE OUTDOOR BATH!!!

• Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything! The cottage is really great, the hot tub on the balcony is soo nice and the staff is awesome! They went beyond and above and we felt really welcome here! We even got a daily local surprise which was really great and delicious! The location was perfect for us, not in the city and you could enjoy the island and the quiet surrounding. I would recommend to go by car as we felt this make it more convenient (but maybe only personal preference). All in all, we can only recommend staying here when visiting Yakushima.
• Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing view of the water. Outdoor bathtub was sublime. Staff left a complimentary dessert in our room every afternoon when we got back from hiking, made from local fruits with a personal story to go along with it.
