Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Ottima posizione, e in centro a firenze ...pessimo posto, pulizia pessima servizzi pessimimi, personale gentile e disponibile...
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do think twice - This place is horrible. The bed have one kind of smell. It is noisy during the night. The only thing that is good which the location. Hope this is useful. There is other places far way better than this, do think twice.
- Stinus (2/5): Complete dump - don't go there with kids - This place is basically like a prison cell. Do not book this if you're traveling with kids. There's no aircondition and not even a fan. The toilet and bathroom is on a different floor and basically inside a different appartment than the room we ended up staying in. That was super impractical as I was travelling with my kid. There's nothing on the walls and nothing has been done to make this room feel like a home - it's just empty concrete walls. The room was facing the street and we had to listen to drunk party people all night. Early morning the square in front of the building started to prepare for the market with a lot of noise. Basically we did not sleep for the entire stay and we're quite exhausted and felt dirty as the bathrooms were not suitable for showering.
- David M. (4/5): Only if desperate - This place is basically a dump, but in a great location. Again, this is not a hotel or even a hostel.
1. No one there to great us
2. Manager shook us down for 8 euro “bed tax” even though hostels are not required to pay it. You know that went right in his pocket.
3. Room was not cleaned 2nd day
- Francisco (2/5): not recommended at all. - No facilities at all available at the place. The bathroom window was broken so I can imagine how winter will be. The window of the room was facing the back of the hostel where all the bins are left so the smell was horrible so we could not open the window. The noises were horrible from outside and also from the other guests so we could not sleep at all. The walls are literally like paper. The bathroom, as a public place should be clean but it never was during our stay. Definitely not recommended. Although the area was very central, you can pay a bit more for other hotels around the same area which are in much better conditions.
- Enkhmaa (4/5): Very poor service in great location - Great location but the terrible accommodation for price I paid. I stayed in one room with old mismatch broken furniture, window with dirty curtains. I had to is restroom in the unit on upper level, it was dirty as well. Host was not welcoming or helpful at all. He met us once at the check in. Place did not have clear label outside of the building, it took us few minutes to figure out where the entry door to this hostel. I was very disappointed with this place.
- Bryce (10/5): Excellent value - A great spot in Florence that is insanely good value! Would recommend easily
- Miira (6/5): - Wonderful location in the heart of Firenze. It is a normal apartment with one toilet+shower, and each room functions as a hostel-room with many beds. The linens were clean and beds well made, but floor was dirty.
- tersf (2/5): Bad Owner - There was a lady and a man. Lady was very kind but man was very rude. They give just bed and bathroom. No shampoo, no saboon. But location and beds were good. If i come to Florence again absolutely I won't stay there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Satisfied - Room was big and spacious. Shared bathroom between the rooms worked out fine. On the 4th floor but there was a small elevator which was good for transporting our luggage. Wifi worked well. Didn't see the staff again after check-in. Would have been difficult to find but we had read previous reviews to look for the number on the street and then press the buzzer to be let in. Great location. Overall satisfactory stay.
- Wanda (2/5): - Yes it is a Hostel, but that should not be a reason to keep the place as a owner completely forgotten... ceilings, walls and floors need to be renovated. The paint is falling off same with the bathroom. The apartment is located on the 4th floor in a building where there are other tenants. I will not stay again and will not recommend it to anyone. The only good thing about this place is that is right on the center, but I’m sure that I can get a better place than this one.
- Mateo (6/5): - First thing I should mention is that this is not a hostel with shared rooms. We got our own room, we just had a shared bathroom. There wasn't much in the way of amenities, basically just wifi which we couldn't get in our room we had to go to the common room to get it. There was a fridge and freezer in the common room as well. Two good things were that our room had a balcony an unexpected and nice treat. Although not all rooms have this. The location was excellent. One more thing I should mention is that they turn the elevator off at night and sometimes during the day. The day time thing seemed random to me. If you are looking for a good price and a place to rest your head, this is a good choice.
- 474soph (6/5): Average stay - On arrival we were greeted by a lovely woman who showed us to our spacious room but on closer inspection; the pillow cases were dirty. In regards to cleanliness this seemed to be in the only issue. We went to bed at around 9pm because we had to get up early for our train but the walls were thin. We could hear our neighbours watching something really loudly until 5:30am... overall it was good stay for one night if you’re a deep sleeper as it’s central so very convienent.
- kristjanac2017 (4/5): Very basic but great location - We only spent time in the hotel to sleep, it’s not like a hostel with a common area or nice enough to enjoy the stay.
Location: fantastic, but then again would have probably paid elsewhere if it was further out and better - bear in mind Florence is not a big city.
Room: dirty floor, sheets were harsh and not nice, one of the beds did not have complete set. Incredibly basic.
Host: friendly and nice.
Bathroom: we paid €20 for a private bathroom which we had the key.
If I needed to save money I would stay here again, I stayed because we were on a budget, but wouldn’t hugely recommend it.
- murthy (2/5): Very bad experience - Only plus to this place is that located in heart of city. Shared Bathroom door have no proper lock. No proper Wi-Fi connection. Does not have AC. Lift not accessible all times. No fan in the room. Small table fan provided upon request, which saved out life for that day. Not at all recommended to stay even a day at this place.
- Anthony (10/5): Florence trip - Great location great welcoming host
- N5069NA_ (2/5): Rude host and awful stay - A very secret hostel that doesn't give their location in advance. You obliged to phone them and they will send you sms with the shop name near the needed door. Oh no, you can't get it by email in advance or by phone! Only sms! Though they suggest the late check-in (up to 23.30), they are definitely not happy to check you in. When I phoned saying we're at the front door, the host refused to give us further information and said he'll send sms. After waiting 5-7 min, I phoned once again (yes, expensive international call and 5 euros flew away from my bill), asking to tell me the content of sms by words. He refused! After waiting some extra 7-10 minutes (5 people on the street, night is coming and no info, no sms, no signs where the hostel is, no signboards or inscriptions) I phoned once again. When I began telling the host that I'm running out of money on phone account and no sms arrives, he shouted 'Be nice or you will sleep on a street! You all will sleep on the street!' The right way for to refer to people who already payed 200+ euros for visiting your brilliant hostel, no doubts! It appeared that all he should tell was we must go several houses down the street and use the code on teh front door. But he shouted at me, threatening we will sleep on a street and then sent one of his relatives who luckily was living in the ame hostel at this moment to pick us up. There was noone from administrtion inside the hostel to check us in, although we told our arrival time in advance.
To make thing even 'better', no excuses from host in the morning. Only one set of keys for 5 person. The lift doesn't ork without the key, so if you don't have it - go 5 floors on foot. Only 3 power sockets in 5-person room. 2 bathrooms on the floor, and far too many people to occupy them, so it's one long queue you see in the morning. Hostel doesn't have any kitchen, only one tiny electric kettle for all rooms. Our stay and impressions of Florence were awfully spoiled.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Would avoid if looking for something special - It’s really rare that I review an accomodation on but unfortunately I think that is important to set a minimum standard to make other customers aware what they are going to face choosing this hostel. Let’s start from the hotel reservation. We booked through the website a triple bed room. I know i was going to be in an hostel but at least i was sure it was bigger then a standard double room... Well! It was not like that! the receptionist told us that the rooms that the hostel was going to give depends on number of people and NOT about the reservation on the website. Is like when you book a Suite for your own but because you are just one guest they give you the worst room they have to fill the others rooms up! well it doesn’t work like that, after that I explained that i work as receptionist too he said that he “ always done the work like that“ well you should update your knowledge as well as the hostel room... but let’s go now to the room... Dirty, old fashioned 1 shared bathroom for 4 rooms that contain in total more than 10 people! is unacceptable! the bathroom always dirty with piece of roof falling ... The worst stay ever! wifi? well if you are not close enough to the reception don’t even try because you will not be able to connect easily... one PRO is in the city center close to the main attraction... That’s it!
- Mohammad (6/5): - Please dont recomend for family
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, balcony, comfortable temperature, towels would have been nice.
- Nellie (8/5): - Great Location!!
Bathroom could use a new door and the shower drain cleaned out.
- Craig (6/5): Great location for a Budget stay in basic room. - Room very basic but cheaper than most in Florence. Easy enough check in. The area is very central and very easy to find ( if you do your research ). There is a small buzzer button for the hostel. It is opposite the covered market square and the street number 6 is clearly visible. here you will find the buzzer.
The toilet/shower had a very loose latch on it and doesn't close properly but the shower was ok, enough power and hot water. But, no towels were given!! Wifi didn't work
Loads of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
- Carol (6/5): it is central - it is central that is its main claim to fame. It is also clean which is important. I don't know why they call it a hostel ..it is just a room in the building. I met The staff on arrival and not again. You were able to open the window which was nice With a tiny balcony.
I thought it could have included a town.
- Mpere2014 (2/5): Stay elsewhere - The only good thing about this place is the location. This is not a hostel with common area i.e. kitchen; hey are bedrooms with share bath rented out. No AC, not even a fan, we were here during summer 103 F (40C), not a good experience. Shower door is broken, no towels available. We only saw a employee on the first morning to get our information, we stay 3 nights and did not see anyone else.
- Beth (8/5): Great location - Your money does not go far in Florence. This place on the 4th floor of a typical Florentine apartment block will tell you more about life in Firenze than a 4 star hotel. Clean rooms and a shared bathroom. All good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Right downtown - The hostel is close to everything which is good. The website said they would supply towels for the shower. I was never given one and never saw the staff after check-in. Check-in time was 11am. I got there at 10:50 and they hadn't started cleaning the room yet so I couldn't go in.
- PsyDocUK (2/5): PLEASE AVOID TILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED - PLUSES:
Excellent location. In the city centre.
MINUSES:
Booked for a friend to stay in. Well hidden. Hard to find and navigate to. Hostel staff not contactable 24/7. Tired to contact the owner late night due to an issue but he was not contactsble. Even booking.com customer services could not get hold of him. Hostel owner not polite, helpful or hospitable. Bed not comfortable. No mirror in the room. Overpriced for what it is!
- bad (4/5): service was not good only location was good - my room and shoewer room was bad
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hard to find this place! - We booked one night at this accommodation. The most difficult thing was finding the building and here is why after looking for 1.5h, we realized there is no visible sign of this building or hostel from that street but a tiny plaque next to the door entrance. Google map took us exactly to Via Porta Rossa (which is great). We did ask three people at different stores who were working on that same street.
In addition to this, after few blocks, the sequence jumps from 7 to 19 and on, so you may get a sense you are kinda lost.
I classify this accommodation as an apartment for rent, more than a hostel. It is inside a residential building and our room was on top floor so we went up stairs with luggage. There is no receptionist available and the host left after handling the key and explaining the usual things, so we were by our own mostly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Shocking - I immediately found another place to stay - shocking venue and the pictures in the web are totally different to the actual venue - I would like a 100 % refund
- alonso (10/5): Al lado del centro - Excelente hostal. Como un hotel. Tranquilo y cercano al centro
- dominicf216 (4/5): Spend more money and stay elsewhere. - Really revolting place. Very dirty.. the pictures online are fake. The rooms are dirty and the bathrooms were vile.. I was booked for three nights but after the first night I booked another place and moved. The location is good but it's not enough to make up for how horrid the place is. I'd much rather walk another 5/10 minutes to get to things or pay a bit more money for a cleaner and safer place.
Incidentally, the place I moved to was just next to Ponte Vecchio and was not much more money (maybe even the same price) and I had a beautiful room with a private bathroom and fabulous staff. Residenza Castelli was its name. Go there instead!
- 186sergiog (10/5): Comfortable, clean and well located. - I'm currently staying in this Hostel with my friends and I highly recommend it, the location is one block from Piazza de la Republica, right on the center of the city so you have shopping stores pharmacies, bars, restaurants and iconic places all whiting a range of 5 minutes walk, the receptionist is very kind and the place is safe, you get a code to open the front door and 2 keys for the floor and the room, we have high speed wifi, towels and a refrigerator, the beds are comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a friendly budget place to stay.
- Noemi (8/5): The room was nice and clean. - The hostel position was great, in the heart of Florence, only 3 mins walking from Piazza della Signoria.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Painful - No soap in either shared bathrooms.
No air conditioning in room.
Door handle was a tap tied to the door with wire.
Shower had no door, nor towel to dry hands.
Good location that's about it.
- BLESSYL MARIE (8/5): Value for Money - The hostel is in a very accessible location at the city center. But it is quite difficult to find given that there is no signage.
- G5182CYsophieh (6/5): Best location in Florence - Honestly the rooms and bathroom were quite underwhelming but clean. They have solved lack of toilet paper problem by installing a serviette dispenser - the sort of recycled serviettes you get in restaurants. Not ideal, but better than nothing. Shower worked fine.
The double bed was two singles on wheels so they generally drifted apart during the night.
Rating has been pulled waaaay up on account of the location. you are literally 200m from the Uffizi with leather markets about 20m away. Every other tourist sight is well within walking distance.
If you're not too fussy about being in a 5 star hotel, any downside we encountered was well worth the location.
- k4ka (2/5): ALERT!! FAKE PICTURE!! HORRIBLE PLACE. STAY AWAY!! - This is the most horrible hostel i stayed in my whole life. BE AWARE, PICTURES ARE ALL FAKE in booking.com/hostelworld. The hostel itself is the WHOLE OTHER WORLD, felt like I had an Indian slum housing experience.
(1) There were more than 13+ people using one single bathroom. I waited at least 1 hour+ to take a shower/ to use the toilet. Not to mention that the toilet is as well horribly dirty.
(2) JUST DIRTY !! The whole hostel is extremely dirty, moldy/dusty etc, like how other people commended. Bed was uncomfortable. Not to mention there was no air-con, THERE WAS NO FAN EVEN!! Not even to mention about sound-proofing.
(3) RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE. The guy who own this apartment is extremely unfriendly, said the check in time must be at 1pm. We were there around 3ish, he said he even have right not to check us and report no show since he specifically mention it in the website. Realise that If he actually went out, you definitely would have no one to check you in and stay on the street.
All in all, to stay in this place definitely will ruin your mood to travel. You cannot even have a decent sleep at all. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE, EVEN IT IS FOR FREE/EVEN YOU PAY ME TO STAY HERE.
- elisab763 (10/5): SO GOOD - Everything was clean and the hostel is in the very centre of the city! It's very cheap too and you can reach it easily with buses or even by foot from the station :) the building has the elevator. Everyone was super nice with us!!!! Thank you!!!!
- Atenkitteh (2/5): AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - The photos on the website are fake. This is a small apartment crammed with people. We got up one morning and found five people sleeping on the floor in the "reception area" (the hallway). The room itself was unclean, and the bed uncomfortable. Actually the whole place felt as though it hadn't been cleaned for some time. The guy who runs the hostel was unfriendly and borderline aggressive and looked like a pimp.
- mtld1 (2/5): AWFUL DO NOT STAY HERE - 1. The room itself is not clean, we found a box of used condoms under the bed.
2. There is bugs as both me and my friend were bitten.
3. There is no air-conditioning, the room is incredibly warm, it is impossible to spend any time in the room during the day, as it is as warm as it is outside in the room, however, with no wind/fan the heat is unbearable.
4. There is a window, however, it opens on to another building so there is absolutely no airflow. The room is filled with stagnant, hot air, making sleeping almost impossible until around 3am when it gets colder outside. I spent most of my time in the room clutching a bottle of frozen water to cool me down, and went for 3 cold showers a day. Other that that, in the room I just sat and sweated.
5. There was no toilet roll in one of the toilets for 2 days.
6. The toilets are not clean, with disgusting floor mats, mold and limescale.
7. The showers are not good, one doesn't close.
8. The walls must be made of paper or something less noise proof, as any sound made throughout the building is audible in your room. In short, the rooms are incredibly noisy, two of the 3 mornings I was woke up due to noise from other guests.
9. The floor of the room is covered in dust etc, do not walk bare foot around the hostel.
10. There is one main light for the room which can be switched on from outside and inside the room, therefore people going to the bathroom, not knowing which light it is, regularly switched on our room light by accident during the night.
11. There is no other light in the room, only a lamp which is purely decorative and placed on the bedside cabinet, its power lead no where near a socket.
12. There are no towels provided.
13. Bed sheets are not changed so after one night of sweating due to the lack of a fan or air conditioning makes your bed very sticky and uncomfortable.
14. The window in the room is low down, with a very high drop, dangerous if bringing children.
15. THE PICTURES ON THEIR BOOKING.COM SITE ARE FALSE.
- 328pedror (4/5): Don't be deceived by any pictures showing a fancy decoration - We arrived near 1PM and had to phone the owner to open the door because, even though they say they have 24h reception, we arrived earlier than we wrote in the confirmation email. No debit card was accepted, luckily enough there was an ATM just around the corner.
As for the room itself it had the most basic amenities, all white walls, not very confortable single sheet beds, an improvised table and a couch. The hostel had a shared fridge, a tiny shared bathroom and a shared kettle. Everything looked old. Don't be deceived by any pictures showing a fancy decoration in this hostel. They are fake.
The hostel lacked proper cleaning. We were presented by a half eaten cookie under one of our beds and dust on the room's corners. The mattresses had stains. The bathroom walls were also dusty but the floor was kept (surpringly) clean during our stay. Be sure to get up early to shower or you'll have to wait if there are many travellers on the other rooms.
The shared fridge had no light inside and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The kettle smelled like dead old man's feet covered in rotten cheese. Its smell was so disgusting that it almost made me puke.
The best thing about this hostel is the location which is very near the old city center. You will not get a decent sleep if you leave the room's windows open because the street is very noisy, even at night.
We would not stay in this hostel again and we don't recommend it to anyone.
- 216ashleenc (2/5): BED BUGS do NOT stay here - Worst hostel experience I have ever had. We booked the room for 2 nights and were very excited to stay in such a perfect location. When we arrived we were told we had to pay cash and if we did not have enough cash, he would take us to a machine to get some. This money was put directly into his wallet, which seemed strange to us. The "kitchen" was a fridge and an electric kettle. There were 4 rooms (ours had 3 beds. one had 5 beds, and another had at least 2 beds) and only one bathroom, which did not have hand soap in it or a towel. During our first night, the people staying across the hall found bed bugs in their room. The bugs were crawling up the walls and had bitten them in their beds. They caught a few in a piece of tape to show to the man who checked us in. We checked our room and found signs of bedbugs (black dots on the sheets and pieces of bugs). We called the man who checked us in, explained our problem, and asked for our money back so we could stay elsewhere. He came back to the room and argued with us for over an hour claiming that we had no right to ask for our money back as "nice young women" do not argue and that since we could not show him bites, he did not believe us. During this argument, which started after midnight, he showed us documentation about past visits by the exterminator. He got one room fumigated for a bed bug problem in November and did our room 3 weeks before our visit. Yet, he claimed that bed bugs were a new problem for him, so either this man does not understand that fixing one room at a time does not get rid of bed bugs or this man is a liar. I would rather sleep on the street than stay here. It looked nothing like the pictures the hostel posted.
- jessicasR6352NL (2/5): BEDBUGS - DO NOT STAY HERE!! - We planned to stay here for 2 nights, thinking this would be a decent hostel. When we arrived at 12am the people accross the hall told us that there were bedbugs: in their beds, crawling onto the wall - everywhere. The guy argued with us for an hour because he didn't want to give our money back. He told us that we were rude, that there were no bedbugs and we just didn't like the room. He showed us a 'certificate' which said that our room should be bedbug-free, but this certificate was weeks old and we saw the bedbugs with our own eyes. When he finally gave us our money back we had to find another place at 2am. DON'T GO HERE!
- T4755GEjamess (6/5): Basic but adequate - We stayed in the first room (which is a double room).
The room was quite spacious with lots of storage space.
The bed was relatively comfortable though the pillows were pretty much wafer thin.
The main downsides to the room were: the TV didn't work properly, in order to use the fan provided you needed to also have the lights on as the switch turned off all of the electrical sockets, no towels were provided and whenever somebody flushed or attempted to flush the toilet next to our room, the pipes made an unbearably loud noise that constantly woke us up at all times of the night.
The shared bathrooms were kept very clean, although no hand soap or towel was provided.
Overall, I would say that I would consider staying there again due to the cleanliness of the place and most of all the location! The location is brilliant, right in the heart of the city centre and never more than 15 mins walk from any of the sights/landmarks.
- 972maddyl (2/5): NOT recommend - The reception who is not friendly and a little be rude when I'm asking he questions. The room is just reasonable but I never seen the reception like that. There is no reception at the hostel which means you can only see the reception when you C/I and he go away after you pay the money.
- Emzieee (2/5): Horrible - Stayed here for one night then left. Horrible. do not stay here - it's not even worth the location. Everything is close together in Florence and a short walk. No need to stay in this place. It's just a guy who obviously owns a building. Not a properly run hostel at all! There were BED BUGS in our room. I was awake from 3am -7am just scratching because I was attacked in my sleep.
The doors are dodgey and not safe and the reception? Well it's just a desk in the middle of the hall way. The walls are paper thin - and not even painted properly! There were 5 beds in our room but only two power plugs. I have never left a place feeling so horrible and dirty - I couldn't even use the shower because I felt sick.
- aliandstef (6/5): Really well located!! - This hostel is perfect for anyone travelling with low budget. It is located in the center of the Florence. The bathrooms are commun to all the rooms but they are cleaned everyday and really spacious.
We had the room next to the entrance door so it was quite noisy when people was going back and forth but with earplugs it was perfect!
We brought our pillows and we did well because the one provided are really thin.
The owner sleeks French and we only saw him the first day: we really felt home there as we saw almost no one during our week stay.
