• francesca (7/5): Cheap and good location but not the place for professionals looking for comfort - The location was convenient, right close to the MOKMOK area where you can check the sulfuric smokes of the crater. The price was a bit lower than the Ryokan I am used to in other parts of Japan which was nice. The staff was kind. The breakfast was good and the food was easy to eat (I have only skipped Natto!) The place is quite round out so it struggles a bit as a 3 star hotel in my opinion The room was a bit smelly (although I have been to other old Ryokan that were in much worse conditions!). My biggest issue was actually with the onsen. The onsen water was consistently too hot to enjoy it (I am used to hot water and onsen and this was genuinely unbearably hot to the point my legs would feel burned afterwards for both days of my stay). Inside the onsen area, in the changing room dedicated to women, there was no toilet nor soap to wash your hands on the basin. You have to go to another area but that area is cold so it was a bit of a pity. Alternatively you can go back inside the actual onsen area to wash your hands but only if you hadn't already put your clothes back on. So to put my contact lenses on after the bath I had to get out of the onsen area. It feels a bit like they are trying to make you stay in the onsen area as little as possibile maybe because in some seasons it can get really busy but the onsen temperature should still be clarified on booking.com and inside the establishment so that people can make an informed decision. Also, I was looking forward to the mixed genders bath so that I could enjoy it with my husband but the rules must have changed and there is no longer a mixed genders onsen. It was confusing because in the Reviews many people talked about it and the Ryokan was also listed as a mixed genders onsen on a few independent websites but there was little information on booking.com regarding the change in regulation. Mixed genders baths are not many so I planned my holiday around the few I found so I hope the information on booking.com will be updated to help people making informed decisions.

• Prafulla Kumar (8/5): Overall it was very good stay. The staff was helpful - Onsens were both indoors and outdoors. The rooms were spacious and were clean. Fresh towels and bathrobes were replenished everyday. For such a remotely situated property, guests might like to eat at the restaurant. There was absolutely no vegetarian or vegan dishes. Men’s and women’s onsens are separate. Couple onsen is not possible.

• PEI WEN (7/5): 可以體驗看看的平價傳統日式旅店！ - 一泊二食很豐富，早餐跟晚餐都可以吃得蠻飽的！ 是非常傳統的日式旅店，會有很精緻的浴衣可以穿，看到有一對老夫妻一起穿著來吃晚餐覺得超可愛 有停車位，離附近的硫黃山很近 澡堂也是非常傳統....傳統到有點不太敢洗 房間燈光偏死白那種比較沒有溫馨感 住到房間有廁所的房型，廁所也蠻有年代感的 WiFi基本上連不太上，用自己的手機比較快

• Inbar (10/5): Great place with wonderful onsens! - The room was big and the Japanese style beds were comfortable. The shared showers and onsens (inside and outside) were also excellent! Dinners were amazing, breakfasts were okay. The breakfast isn’t bad at all - but it’s very Japanese and may be complicated for a westerner, I suggest you give it a try and enjoy.

• Peter (8/5): Nice traditional stay and meals - Nice traditional hotel. We opted for dinner and breakfast. They served very traditional Japanese meals that were nicely prepared. We had to sleep in a traditional room on futons on the floor. They were rather thin for our aging bodies. They have smoking rooms across the hall and the smell of smoke was strong in the hallway at times.
