Guest Reviews
- Gustav (4/5): - no cold water in kitchen
- Martin (10/5): - Clean, easy parking off Cliffe St.
- Peter (2/5): - Out dated motel/hotel. Did not smell very good.
Air Conditioning very loud. Shower curtain dirty.
- Bradley (8/5): - Clean room, older
- Donna (10/5): - Very nice, reasonable motel, staff member was great.
- Irene (10/5): - Good for the cost
- shannon (6/5): - It was cheap. The front desk was nice upon arrival. Just there for the night on a quick stay but didnt feel safe. The outside needs a reno, cleaning and landscaping. Feels very run down. Inside was clean enough but the sheets/towels did not smell like bleach, there was a weird bug in the bathroom and the kitchen was not well stocked...or clean.
- Chenoa (8/5): - Friend lly staff
- malcolm (8/5): - It was ok for the price.
- Sharon (8/5): Good accomdations-could use a coat of paint. - While the building could use a coat of paint and some repairs would enhance the appearance....the rooms were clean and as advertised. We enjoyed our stay.
- Cherise (6/5): - Ok for the price point. Some bathroom sinks don’t drain
- Tod (6/5): - Check in was easy. Polite and helpful staff. Room was clean, convenient location.
- Dianne (6/5): - Old and shabby.
- Paul (4/5): - Dirty, cobwebs everywhere, food bits under bed, so dated. No glasses for water. Bed was dreadfully uncomfortable, pillows were horrible.
- Elizabeth (4/5): - Staff not very nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): One overnight stay - River Heights Motel was a great last minute option to stay at. It is close to Downtown Courtenay businesses, stores and restaurants.
- Maike (8/5): - Room was clean with some wear and tear.
- EDWARD (10/5): - Easy parking. With fridge and microwave in the room.
- garyonca (10/5): - I stayed on August 18th, unit 24, 1 Queen, very roomy, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Clean! I will ill use River Heights again.
- Mindy (8/5): - This property is what I expected for the price point.
- Daphne (10/5): - The mattress was lovely and I got good nights’ sleep. Parking was excellent. Location is right on a main thoroughfare but nonetheless quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. Kitchenette was adequately stocked; fridge, freezer, microwave all worked well. I didn’t try the stove and oven but they appeared to be in excellent condition. Altogether an ideal place to stay.
- Brent (10/5): - Great
- Cherise (10/5): - Good beds and good water pressure. Clean and has AC.
- Greg (10/5): Great Motel - This was pretty nice.
It's a bit outdated looking but it just a great job!
Beds are comfy, staff is nice.
A/C is super loud but white noise is not an issue for you, it's a great place.
Plus there are a lot of food options around
- Patricia (10/5): - Very comfortable place, however when I booked through Expedia I was of the opinion it was pet friendly. Thankfully he had another unit available that was pet friendly. This is something you need to address, as I may have had no options and 2 hours away from home.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Just stayed for the night as I was working in the area, clean and affordable
- EDWARD (8/5): - Convenient location but on a busy street.
- ANDREW (8/5): - We like the kitchen option and the fridge ,bedroom okay with the beds,no hood range no fans ,nothing ,smoke alarm always turn on soon you cook or toast something.

- Susan (8/5): - Clean rooms at an affordable price
- Lynn (8/5): - Value for money. We had a two room suite for what we would normally pay for one room. We really enjoyed our stay in Courtenay.
- CAROL A (6/5): - Property was good value
- Sarah (2/5): - The room was dirty, there were spider webs and cob webs everywhere, the floor felt dirty, there was hair in the bedding, there was mold in the bathroom, and there was no hot water in the morning.
- Rk (4/5): - It is an old establishment. The room had an unpleasant odor. The room was dusty. Beds were ok, not uncomfortable. Bathroom was ok, noisy pipes. Would not stay here again.
- Lisa (8/5): - Clean and comfortable.
- mark (8/5): - bed was comfortable and room was clean. I would stay here again.
- Tanya (2/5): - So not worth the price $135 per night. Nothing has been updated since the 70’s.
- David (6/5): - Good access to services. Reasonable price. Two separate rooms.
- Jason (8/5): - Clean, easy and cheap. Nothing fancy, walls could use some paint, but a good bargain room for a quick stay.
- Curtis (10/5): - Friendly, efficient staff. Clean rooms
- Kyung Ha (8/5): - Affordable motel for short stay
- John (8/5): - Basic stay, right price for me. Didn’t really interact with the staff at all. No issues.

- Art (10/5): - Great value for money. Clean and comfortable. Friendly, courteous service.
- Malerie (6/5): - An adequate motel for our 6 hour stay.
- Dianne (6/5): - We generally have a good experience here for a no frills quick overnite stay. Thin walls mean that neighbouring guests can be too close for comfort, however. Convenient location, comfy bed. Unfortunately, running out of hot water during shower this morning was unpleasant. So one of us had to skip showering altogether.
- Pamela (6/5): - Okay for one night. The room we stayed in was spacious, but definitely needs some upgrades. At least the bathroom was updated.
- David (8/5): - Nice old school motel. Decent price. Quiet. Comfortable bed.
- Charlene (6/5): - Was quiet for city location
Had all basics for travel
Quick & easy access to ferry
- stephen (8/5): - The deck was weak
- Henry Heidi (6/5): - On a busy road
Needs renovation
- Marilynn (6/5): - This is an older hotel. The room was clean enough but the whole building needs to be renovated and updated.
Price was good and receptionist very nice.
- Chor chor (10/5): - Great place and clean with great staff
- Ronald (8/5): - It was fine for what we wanted. A clean central place to stay for one night. Staff were accommodating and room was value for money
- Marcella (8/5): - The shower was enjoyable with a clean room and overall great area. Older in style but nice enough with air conditioning that worked well. Comfy beds
- charles (8/5): - Slept well, bath tub was slick. Watch yourself if having a shower. Also no ice maker so my Ballantynes had a little water, no rocks.
- Jem (10/5): - .
- Eric (8/5): - River Heights=Always Great Value back home in God's Country
- Ian (10/5): - Great value for the price , comfortable and clean
- Herman (8/5): - Nice spacious room, furthermore nothing special.
- Bill (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay. I had a comfortable room with my motorycle parked right outside for easy loading and security. The room was clean and convenient, and priced for the conditions.
- leah (8/5): - The area wasn't the greatest the hotel staff Motel staff themselves were very out to lunch so to speak not there for customer service at all
- stephanie (6/5): It’s a bed… - It was fine for a short night.
Rooms are older, walls are thin I could here next door snoring. Right in town so close to many things but noisy. And the latch on the door to lock was broken.
Guest service told me I couldn’t pay debit, and I booked through hotels.com and it’s not listed anywhere that I can’t pay debit.
The bathroom wasn’t super clean, and my towels were ripped up. The bed however, was comfortable.
- Gail (8/5): - This motel has everything you need at a great price. Very handy to have both a fridge and microwave plus a coffee maker so you can make your own meal or just have coffee before you hit the road.
- Doreen (8/5): - Comfortable and the price was right!
- Bruce (8/5): - Convenient
- Margaret (6/5): - Offered an adequate place to stay in an era and area of inflated accommodation prices.
The lighting was a bit of a problem to see the coffeemaker and microwave programs well enough. Appreciated good bathroom and spacious room with storage
Needs floor mat at the sides of the bed rather than the bottom - cold floor.
- Les (10/5): - Clean rooms , great staff, location close to nice walking path and dining choices! Great value !
- Michael (2/5): - Place was filthy absolutely disgusting
- Victor (8/5): - They had great bathroom tissue. Sometimes little things are important.
- Loring (10/5): - Yes
- Daniel (10/5): - it was fairly comfortable the lock chain on the door was broken and you could see daylight when the door was closed at the closing side of the door it was cold in there we ask for an extra blanket and were brought one right away very nice bed had a few hairs on it and in the tub but other then that all was good we will most likely stay again would be nice if the TV was higher so as to see it full screen from the bed when lying down cheers thanks
- Graeme (10/5): - Close to many food shop options. Unluckily, the next-door room has their TV blaring.
- Dianne (8/5): - Great value for convenient downtown accomodations.
- Marc (6/5): - Very tired and dated room I had. Bathroom needs grout regrouted and needs to be recaulked to remove black mold.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Nice folks - Nice owner didn’t have ice and gave us their own to accommodate us. Needed a freezer in fridge.
- Susan (8/5): - Was clean and value priced. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Trevor (2/5): - spiders everywhere
- David (8/5): - I have stayed here before. Staff are nice. Beds are comfortable. It would be nice if some refreshing was done to the rooms. A little paint on the walls. Some minor repairs. Since it is an old motel, I think rate of 138 per night is a little too much. Fair price would perhaps be 100 to 110 per night. But I will stay there again in the future.
- Vickie (8/5): - Good location
- Tara (6/5): - Not very sound proof, and might want to mention the construction in the adjacent lot. But over all a decent stay. Bed was comfy, room was clean.
- Neil (8/5): - Good place to stay.
- John (10/5): - Bed was comfortable
- Roy (6/5): - Within 10 mins to City Centre. Some dining within walking distance. Right off a busy noisy road. One of the cheaper hotel options. Beds ok.
- David (10/5): - The staff was fast and efficient. We checked in late but it wasn’t a problem for him
- Gary (4/5): - Noisy, hard pillows and bed
- Michael (2/5): - After seeing the room and it’s condition - bathroom floor and tub not at all clean , and the bed that was lumpy and aging, and the generally too-old state of all the furniture, like a period movie, I did something I can’t recall doing before. I asked for my money back and advised that the conditions were unacceptable. This was done and I departed. Frankly it looked really rundown I didn’t take the above without thinking for 5 minutes and I came to the same conclusion: unacceptable.
- JL (10/5): - The office staff were very helpful and courteous. My two day stay could not have gone better.
- Brenda (10/5): - All good cute clean warm
