Guest Reviews
- Photos_On_The_Road (8/5): Good staying - Nice Art Deco building in the city centre.
Pleasant family hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable with view over Venceslav Square. Some noise came from the street but the hotel is quiet and relaxing.
Good breakfast and nice owner, very helpful.
- Nottopanic (6/5): Great location but atrocious staff - The location is superb and the price was also very good, unfortunately, the staff were so rude it actually became comical. Upon arrival, the woman behind the reception desk wasn't even able to raise her head to acknowledge us as clearly whatever she was watching on tv was far more important than the annoyance of pesky guests trying to check in. Eventually, when we were starting to wonder if we were going to be left standing there for the night, she asked for our passports and left a room key on the counter which we assumed was for the room we were to be staying in but we're still not 100% on that one.
When we were leaving the hotel to go into town, we attempted to hand our room key to the same woman but, unsurprisingly, she wanted nothing to do with us! Instead, she pointed (grunted might be more accurate) to a hole in the reception desk where we were to drop our key into. On reflection, the hole was roughly two feet away from her so we were completely at fault for once again disturbing her from her television programmes.
Although we stayed in the hotel for three nights, the room was not cleaned once. The bed was never made, the towels never changed, the bins never emptied etc etc. We even had to go down to reception to request a role of toilet paper for the room which then became its own ordeal.
I have been to Prague numerous times and will definitely be going again but we certainly won't be staying here again. Location is great and to be fair, there was no issue with the room on arrival but once there, they couldn't care less about you
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Pam20002014 (8/5): City Break - Picked this hotel due to locality and price. It certainly is in a good location very close to Wenceslas Square. It is an exceptionally clean, traditional hotel. We found the staff attentive and eager to please. Rooms were cleaned every day and towels were also changed daily.
Breakfast was very good with a good selection to cater for most tastes and dietary requirements.
The bedroom itself was ample sized with everything required. There was a plentiful supply of toiletries in the bathroom but the shower over the bath was a bit odd. It was only waist height therefore you had to hold it up when washing hair and upper part of body.
Apart from this minor gripe the hotel was ideal for our long weekend in Prague.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk away from the main train station if you choose to explore further afield. We took the train to Kutna Hora to visit the Bone Chapel (Sedlec Ossuary) which is worth visiting.
Should you decide to use the trains, give yourself plenty of time to navigate the station as it is huge.
Gammalt hår i badkaret. Högt ljud från gatan utanför
- ILENE (10/5): Great for the price - Fantastic location, excellent room and 10 mins from train station.
- Michael (10/5): Convenient to train station and eat access to city - Spent a couple of nights in Prague. Wanted something close to train station and this was a perfect fit. A bit older place but still comfortable. Nice and cozy. Very traditional breakfast.
- Megan (10/5): - Nice, orderly rooms in a hotel directly on Wenceslas Square. Wonderful small breakfast service included with price of stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay, good breakfast, pleasant staff
Hyggelig personale, Anbefales
- lizokeefe0215 (8/5): Great Hotel, close to everything - We booked this room for our stay in Prague over a weekend, and we were very impressed with how close it was to everything.
The room was a decent size, we had a window which was perfect at night for some air and some white noise.
The hotel breakfast was really good too, a large selection.
If you are looking to be close to everything this is the place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Keith (8/5): - good location spacious room
- Mikael (8/5): Bra läge - Rent och enkelt. Ingen AC men fläkt.
- Tyler (10/5): 2 nights in Prague - Nice hotel right in Wenceslas Square. Only minutes away from all the action in Prague. Tons of food and shopping options nearby to the hotel with the train station being only a 10 minute walk away. You also get your own bathroom in your room and do not have to share it with anyone else. The continental breakfast buffet is also surprisingly very good! They have scrambled eggs each morning and sausage links as well as many other options you would see typically. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveling to Prague!
- Daniela (10/5): Fantastica esperienza al Meran - Esperienza positivissima. Ottima posizione e ottimo hotel
- Jihui (10/5): very nice staff and clean room with great view - 저녁 9시 넘어서 착륙에 트리풀룸이 필요하여 예약했는데 일닼 밤 11시에도 체크인이 가능하며 늦은 시간인데 반갑게 맞아주시고 세명이 자야했는데 아버지의 실수가 있었는데 주인아주머니와 다른 스탭분이 너무 친절하셨고 되려 우리를 걱정해주어서 너무 감사한 마음으로 체크아웃 하였습니다.
- Yogesh (10/5): Fantastic stay in Prague - It was very good stay. Hotel is at good location; close to train station and main shopping street. Room was big, clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to everyone.
- Torill (10/5): Positivt overrasket. - Veldig god valuta for pengene. Sentralt. God frokost. Bra rom.
- Anush (10/5): Great hotel! - Very friendly and helpful personal, located in the centre of Prague, amassing view. Very clean room and tasty breakfast. Highly recommend!
- 287jamesu (8/5): Situated on Wenceslas Square very central. - Meran is a small hotel, compared to some of other hotels nearby.not many rooms. We had booked a triple room,as we had our young grand daughter with us. It was on first floor looking on to the square. No air conditioning ,but provided a fan, badly needed in the very hot summer we had.Room was large, and clean, good breakfast, and at very reasonable price. We were staying 4nts.
- Edy (6/5): - Location is great. Right at the center of everything.
Breakfast was good.
Room is simple yet comfy.
What i didnt like is that there are no cameras anywhere !
Not at floors not at entrance.
No fire detector in rooms. So. On the safe side its not good.
Otherwise. No problems.
- Smugangel (8/5): Great value for money - Great location in Wenceslas Square near to lots of shops, restaurants and Mustak metro 1 min walk, along with trams nearby too. Triple room on 2nd floor with balcony which was very clean and perfectly adequate for our 3 night stay. A few drawbacks which did not affect our stay - not many plug sockets, shower only to half height, no kettle and room very hot. Great breakfast and helpful staff.
- elsaai (4/5): Friends - It was my second visit to Prague from 3-6 September my triple 3 nights first of all the room was not clean . There were small crawling insects on the beds that made you clench and so much that I slept last night on the chair .only the breakfast was good not bad but the women how work on it was so aggressive and angry from daily work
- sayanjeem (8/5): Creme-de-la-Creme Location - The location is undoubtedly the best in Prague. Situated on the Wenceslas Square this area never sleeps. The hotel has all the amenities. Air conditioning was not there but fan was provided. Breakfast and rooms were decent.
Very difficult to get hotel at this price in this location.
Mvh Chr Hampe, Frb:-(
- Steven (10/5): Ideal location in Prague - This is the best place to stay in Prague. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station you're right in the middle of Wenceslas Square and close to Old Town.
- stevensA7288WO (10/5): Great location and free breakfast - My wife and I had a great time staying at this hotel in Prague. It is located in Wendel as square. It was located directly across from the Mark and Spencer store. The breakfast was good and provide plenty of nourishment for a day of touristing.
- oversattare2003 (10/5): a perfect stay - This hotel was recommanded to us by a Czech cousin, who had already been there. We were assigned a spacious room with a nice little balcony. Everything was spotless clean. Towels were checked and changed every day, The room was cleaned every day. People at the Reception were helpful and very kind. They gave us information, printed our boarding cards, and were always ready to help. The room faced the Stanislaw Square, a lively and central neighborhood, near to almost every tourist place worth visiting, or at a short walk distance. Although it is so
- Andrew (8/5): - Great location right on Wenceslas Square. The hotel fascia is beautiful and was a definite selling point for us. We'd read reviews before booking so were aware this was more of a budget hotel, so were not too disappointed by say, the lack of airconditioning (we were there in a June mini-heatwave, yet the fan sufficed for us) or coffeemaking facilities (this WOULD be an inexpensive easy win though; owners take note!). We found the staff a little reticent initially, but fine once they got to know you; we certainly did not encounter any rudeness, and they were very helpful whenever we needed anything. Breakfast was perfectly ok with a serviceable selection of cooked meats, breads, fruit, yoghurt cereals etc. Everything was spotless and fresh towels and linen provided each day. In summary, it's not the Ritz, but if you want a budget hotel right in the heart of Prague with a lot of original features and history, this is the hotel for you. We'd certainly stay again.
- Kent (8/5): Central Prague option - Great location for walking, dining or catching local public transportation. Breakfasts were good. Price is reasonable. Staff is efficient.
- Shlenco (8/5): Great value for money - If you are looking for just a place to sleep that is clean and centrally located as well as budget friendly while you visit Prague look no further. Hotel Meran is the place to be.
It is not a luxurious hotel but it is definetly clean, their breakfast is good enough to start your day, and their coffee is actually better than what I had in some 4 and 5 stars hotels; the view from our room was looking at Wenceslas square which was fantastic.
All of that was great but by far the best feature is honestly the location which put us few minutes away from everywhere and all the action.
Few remarks, the balcony railing was too low, if you are taller than 180 cm it could be unnerving a bit, also we could use a bigger mirror in the room and more light in the bathroom, other than that the room was perfectly fine.
Great value for money and will definitely go to visit again and will recommend to friends and family
- Maggie (10/5): Home from home - As it was our 1st visit to Prague the hotel Meran definitely enhanced the trip. We couldn't fault anything and it was central to everywhere and excellent value for money 10/10 from me
- terjefinsveen (4/5): Cheap and great location but never again. - The rooms was kinda okey regarding the price. Arriving at the hotel we met a nice young woman who did her best for us. In the afternoon we tried our best to usThink it's nice to meet the employesse the free wifi that the hotel so proudly advertised, but boy was we disappointed. I went down in the lobby and met an elderly "grumpy" man, who didn't attend any of the classes regarding service in "hotelschool". We were four adults in two rooms on two different floors, and not any of us could get online for more than two-four minutes at a time. We tried with two ipads, one PC and four different phones. And the help we got from mr grump was that the wifi worked and all of our equipment was broken. I thought really hard about changing hotel, but I couldnt get online to chech out what was vacant around us. So we just used some of the free wifi around town instead. This is the first time I've booked a hotel with less than four stars an by god it'll be the last. I'd like the hotel personale to have a minimum of common behavior skills. Think it's nice that the hotel staff answer in a sivilized maner when you tell them good morning at breakfast, instead of gettin a grunt in replay. So, no moore this one, next time in prague we'll aim a bit higher on the hotelstars, as we have done before. Been to prague several times and everytime been satisfied with our accomodations, and for sure will be again, but never never on this hotel. The least i require is a bit of service, not just grumpy staff and that the wifi is working. Think this one would greatly benefit from some changes in the staff, 'cos the location is really good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect location in Wesceslas Square - Charming older hotel. Lots of hot and cold breakfast items and staff were helpful with gluten free choices.
- KAY (6/5): Ok for a short stay location excellant - For what we paid it was relatively good but would not have wanted to stay any longer than our 3 night stay. Breakfast was ok but I would not have been happy with it if it had been an additional charge.
In our room which was a triple room (can't say if same in all) there were not enough plug sockets and the lighting was very dingy as there was no ceiling light but just a small light over the sink. Hairdryer was not very good at all even by hotel dryer standards the 'head' kept falling off.
Most of the staff could have been a lot more cheerful and helpful although there was one gentleman who helped me immensely with a trip I had booked incorrectly and his expertise was fantastic..
Would go back but would suggest you don't go with high expectations and if you want luxury then this is not the place for your..
- muriel (10/5): Prague on a budget - Hotel is in a great location and was near to visitor attractions.bit old fashioned but room was large, comfy and very clean.had a balcony overlooking wencelas square which was great to sit out on in the evening and have a drink.breakfast was fine, typical fare and plenty of it.good value for money, would stay here again.
- nipper_9 (8/5): Great location, nothing fancy but clean, - My friend and I were on a budget 3 day holiday to Prague. We just wanted a base in a great location and that is what the Hotel Meran is.
There was only two of us but I booked a triple room (very little difference in price). I don't know what the size of the other rooms were like but it was really good with a little table and comfy chairs.
Breakfast was adequate but would not have wanted to pay extra for it.
I can't comment on other rooms but the lighting in the bathroom was not good. There was no 'overhead' lighting and just a small flourescant light over the basin. Ok but if you a woman putting makeup on was not good are a man probably would have had difficulty seeing properly to shave.
Again I can only comment on our room but there were not enough power points either.
A hairdryer is provided but even as hotel hairdryers go this was terrible. Would suggest you bring your own.
I did read, I am sure, that there was an ironing board in the room, Did request one in the morning, didn't use it and it was gone when I came back in the afternoon. Must have been a time limit which I didn't know of.
No tea or coffee provided in the room but there is a mini bar (not well stocked) which I found quite unusual of a hotel of this calibre. My friend and I just took a travel kettle.
Staff were mediocre, bar one guy who was so helpful especially when I had difficulty with an evening trip I had booked - couldn't have managed without him.
All in all this is far from posh but for us was ideal as a base. Not the place to stay if you want 'fancy' but the location and price was our prime directive.
Would probably stay here again if in town at the right price but wouldn't want to stay for more than two or three nights..
.
- DaveHalpin (4/5): Great location... that's it - When visiting this hotel we immediately realised we were in a brilliant location and a few minutes walk from the old town. Our room was clean and tidy, although a bit dated, which didn't bother us. However, when coming through reception some of the staff were very rude and ignorant. The older lady who was there most times, had no time to answer questions and sat there constantly watching TV. She was that bad, me and my girlfriend would joke between ourselves before walking past if she would reply to us when we said hello/good morning (she usually just looked at us). She also wasn't very happy when we told her the night before leaving we needed to check out early, saying 'I may not be here', despite her telling us on check-in that someone is on reception 24/7. The breakfast was average at best, but was okay for a day or two. If you want a cheaper hotel in a good Prague location this could be the one, but make sure you have a good sense of humour to cope with some of the miserable people working there.
- Jennifer (8/5): Very convenient location. - We stayed for one night and traveled with train. This hotel is very close to train station, there are good restaurants and cafes at walking distance. Breakfast is decent and sufficient choice. We were very pleased with our stay, beyond my expectations.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Average three-star hotel with excellent location - We would recommend this hotel for the central location, very close to everything: metro station, touristic buses and tours, old city square, train station, restaurants, etc...The hotel is comfortable, clean, with breakfast included and courteous staff. However, the hotel would benefit from a little bit of updating and renovations.
- John (8/5): Great location in the centre of Prague. - Fantastic location to all attractions. A short walk from Prague central railway station. Complimentary breakfast good. Room was a twin bed but reasonably spacious. The square could be noisy when the window was open but there was a fan in the room which was great because the weather was warm. The place has an interesting history so the decor was quite charming. Overall this budget accommodation was perfect for our 2 nights stay because of the location.
- Vonrich (6/5): Clean Basic Accomodations - The title of this review describes my room. The decor includes some tacky pictures on the walls and very basic furniture: no air conditioning. The carpet is outdoor, deck-style that is rough but durable, I suppose. The building, hallways, and reception area look nice. The breakfast buffet is pretty good and includes scrambled eggs, breads, cereal, juice, coffee, sandwich meats, sausage, yogurt, among other things. Hotel location is safe on a busy street/square, and is close to metro and trams, and a 15 minute or less walk to the central square of old town.
- Habus (8/5): One of the best price/location value on the Wenceslas Square - Let's start with the goodies. It's the location and the somewhat old fashion style feeling this hotel has. And when I say "old fashion style" I mean it's not fabricated. ;) As pointed out in other reviews, this hotel is old and everything is worn out here. Rooms, doors, reception, even the lady receptionist was most probably born in the 19th century. And even though it's in the middle of the Wenceslas Squar, the room I had was pretty quiet and I had a good sleep. What I didn't like and also can't recommend, was the breakfast - very basic, small range of choice, however fresh. Overall very good price/location/value ration and if you like old and worn out stuff, this is the place to stay. ;)
- Zael (8/5): Great location, no frills, poor WiFi - This is a nice place with a great location. The hotel is a bit dated, but offers great midrange accommodation. The breakfast is great.
Remember there's no AC, so if you're on the higher floor during summer months, you will be boiling. No fans available at the reception.
By far the biggest downside for me was the poor WiFi service throughout the hotel. They use cheap extenders to spread the signal throughout the hotel and the connection is extremely unreliable. It's ok in the breakfast room, but it's super annoying when you're trying to hook tickets from your room and the pages just won't load...
It would be great if the management could invest a few hundred dollars into proper wifi equipment, it's 2017 folks...
- AHMED_BLUE1 (10/5): Hotel in the heart of Prague - The location of this hotel is perfect it is on the main street in Prague, just 10 minutes walking from the train station, 2 minutes from the National museum and 10 minutes walking from the Old Square, the room was very nice, clean and quiet, they providing a good breakfast, and the value is wooow, very recommended.
