Guest Reviews
- bignells (10/5): Nice hotel outside of town - Arrived for a 5 night stay with breakfast £252 approx
Reception staff excellent good customer service
Parking £5 a day but free if registered blue badge
Our room on ground floor
Twin beds shower with glass door sink in room toilet in like a cupboard
Room small tv on wall
No hairdryer or kettle ( tea and coffee available in reception)
Beds comfortable room clean air conditioner runs hot and we set temperature at 23 which was just right
Breakfast in reception plenty of tables and chairs
Buffet breakfast cereals yogurt pastries. Ham cheese tomato cucumber brown and white bread fresh fruit. Fruit teas and coffee machine and juice machine available when breakfast on
Suggestion portions of jam and marmalade.
Yogurt would be better as individual portions rather than in bowl as people could contaminate it. Also is it thrown at end of service as it’s on display or is it covered and refrigerated. More cost effective for portion control as individual.
Walking distance to tram that takes you into Edinburgh we paid just over £5 for a return ticket.
Toaster temperamental browned bread on one side only at times
Would definitely use this hotel again
- Gonzalomartin19 (2/5): No recomendable - Disastrous hotel. There is no heating in the rooms or in the corridors. In the room, we only had a hot air conditioning unit, which was not enough to heat the room, let alone the bathroom... We had to request a change of room and had the same problem in the next one... Breakfast was poor and there was not much variety. I do NOT recommend this hotel.
- alanbY638PF (2/5): Do not stay here - This is not an hotel. It is a scam to separate you from your money and maximize their profits.Do not stay here. Room is not “open plan” as the management says. There is a sink in the space next to the bed as well as a shower . No place for toiletries. No bathroom. No room to even open your cases. No place to sit down. For £115 a night, you should at least get a tea kettle in the room. Motl6 in the IS will give you a coffee maker for $39 a night.
- lynneq844 (6/5): Great location to trams - It was myself and my adult son in wheelchair. Came for comicon weekend. Perfect location for trams just 5 min walk across the road. But as having a wheelchair user and arriving by tram it was not clearly signed which way for wheelchair users. We had to ask the business parks security and they pointed around the back of the hotel. This was a huge struggle with pushing wheelchair AND pulling suitcase as path isn't tarmac and we got stuck a couple of times which stressed my son out. We managed to make the small room work by folding the wheelchair up and tucking over by the window as not very roomy. We booked breakfast but didn't bother as choice was very poor. Croissant pain au chocolate cornflakes muesli toast ham cheese and that was it. Now we know our bearings of edinburgh we probably wont stay here again as other hotels offer better wheelchair access closer to where we want to be. Evening staff were great and super helpful lads. My son enjoyed the pizzas!
- Sherwood89 (10/5): Budget Hotel worth staying in - I would highly recommend this hotel, the room was spotless, had everything you needed. A 2 minute walk from the tram which is only 3 stops from the Airport. Only stayed the one night but would have happily stayed for a week. The bed was comfortable, the air con was great, the shower was powerful and a good temperature. Reception staff very friendly. Had seen some very mixed reviews so was worried, no need to worry. Will definitely stay again, great value. Have stayed in easyjet room and it is double the size of it.
- Andrew (8/5): - Ideal alternative to expensive airport or city centre hotels, conveniently located off the City Bypass. Has all you need. Clean, warm and easy experience
- Marlene (10/5): - Clean room and staff was excellent.
- Leea (8/5): - Staff was fantastic- friendly, helpful, available, good advice.
Rooms are small but the lobby is good place to hang out.Food and drink options in lobby are good . Plus there is a huge grocery store just across the street.
Great transportation options to downtown or airport just out front of hotel.
- Christopher (10/5): - Everything works well….
- Jonathan (2/5): - A twin room was provided with the most bizarre layout. A show cubicle that opens directly into bathroom with no privacy. Therefore cannot use shower.
- Rachelle (6/5): - Very close to tram station which is great. Room is beyond tiny, and just surface cleaned. Shower opens up right into the room so if you're not sharing with an intimate partner it is a bit awkward. Bed was comfortable enough.. pillow was lumpy. I suppose this is what you get for a budget hotel near the airport. If I had to stay more than a night or two I would be really unhappy.
- Neal (10/5): - Close to the airport
- Catriona (8/5): - This was a business trip and this hotel delivered on everything i needed for a quick overnight stay.
- Steven (8/5): - Breakfast could have a few more options.
- Richard (8/5): - We stayed here because the train was close. It was a clean and safe place to stay. Location was away from the city and it cost a bit to Uber into the city. Our room was very small and tight. You could barely turn around in it. There wasn’t any ventilation in the room and no fan in the bathroom. Good hot water in the shower. Breakfast was just okay. Could have offered more items. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Anna (8/5): - Great option on the tram line near the airport.
- Megan (6/5): - Great place to stop for a night before a flight.
- Claire (4/5): - Could hear the toilet or shower above us running most of the night. Fire alarm went off and our late check out was wasted.
- Rene (8/5): - It’s an IBIS
- Emmalinda (10/5): - Clean ang safe
- Rachel (4/5): - The room was very small for 3 adults. There was no room to move around each other and store suitcases. The shower and sink are also inside the bedroom which is not very private.
- NIRMAL (8/5): - Fast check in
Neat and tidy
- Reidun (6/5): - Chekwd in online gave an estimated arrival time. Arrived around 1PM the front staff was less enthused.
Came back later after shift change, got a very nice and helpful gentleman at the front desk.
We booked a twin room. Very small. The shower was in the actual room. the toilet was just in a cubboard with a magnetic lock ( poorly lock). Old vinyl flooring but it was clean and otherwise comfortable.
Very easy and convenient to travel by tram.
The breakfast was ok, no hot options.
Expensive for what it was.
- Ewan (10/5): - Nice place to stay . Clean and tudy
- Kelly (8/5): - Our stay was fine. Rooms were clean and staff were accommodating. There was a funny smell in the corridor that would be my only complaint.
- Christine (10/5): Suggestion - Suggestion - not necessary to change towels everyday. Just need rail to hang towels on.
- Nisa (10/5): - Great energy and customer service!
- Fiona (6/5): - We realize this is a budget hotel but we could at least have a hand towel and some shampoo. We could hear everything through the walls. Hallway carpets were stained and dirty.
- Monika (10/5): - Friendly staff, nice clean hotel
- Angel (4/5): - I wasn’t aware that this was a SUPER budget hotel. I mean, no phone in the room, no coffee pot, no hair dryer, no extra towels. I was prepared for the small room because I stayed at an ibis hotel before. For some reason, they did not want to turn on the heat. When I asked for a portable heater, the answer was also “no”, however a staff member was kind enough to give me an extra blanket. It was really weird!
- Delia (8/5): - The room was small but very efficiently laidout to get a good night sleep, which was all we needed. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We didn’t eat breakfast since we didn’t want to pay $25 USD for a continental breakfast.
- Colin (6/5): - The free Wi-Fi worked great for my laptop but would not let me access the apps on my phone properly. Having to go across to the Gyle Centre to buy tickets for the tram, or check in for my flight was not the most convenient.
- Alison (10/5): - Basic and clean
- Maria (10/5): - Great location. Outside of the city center, but next to a tramstop, so a direct line to and from the airport and to and from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. Breakfast had limited choices, but there is more than enough not to go hungry. Would definitely consider this hotel again the next time!
- Carmen (4/5): - The price is too high! Nice and clean but for the cost it just isn’t worth it. You don’t even have coffee and kettle in the room. If you didn’t buy the breakfast, you have to pay for the coffee in the breakfast area. Which would be fine — if I hadn’t already paid $280CDN for ONE night.
- Corazon (8/5): - The property is nice, clean and quiet and it was tiidied and cleaned everyday. My only criticism was that in our room tthere was no kettle, coffee, tea ans hairdryer. You have to go to the reception in the morning to get your tea or coffre, this thibgs woukd be a nice addition inside the room. Hairdyer is paramount for women like me who hair wash is very important. Staff were fairly nice...the area was quiet, five mins walks for the public transport which were the tram and busses so easy to get to the town center...All in all our stay is pleasant enough to get throigh 3 nights of stay. Will recommend it iff your not a very fussy person.
- RAYMOND (10/5): Could do better - Room far to small , unable to walk around beds. Shower in bedroom not very good for new couples.
- Maureen (10/5): - The breakfast was fresh and the area was clean. The design of the rooms was well done and everything was neat and clean. Loved the tram stop nearby.
- Penelope (6/5): - Felt the room was very over priced given the spareness of the room. Shower stall is in your bed area which was odd. Room small so not much space for luggage. No hair dryer. However the bed was super comfy. Re: breakfast - limited options. Not sure it was worth 8.5 pounds. Very close walk from the tram to the hotel. Easily can take the train to the. Gyle station and walk to the hotel.
- thebennetts2011 (10/5): Great budget hotel - We were able to check in early as our room was ready which was really good.
All the hotel staff we encountered on our stay were super friendly and professional, such a credit to the hotel!
The room was small but that was expected. It was very clean and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. I liked that it had a window you could actually open, a rare find in hotels. Had a really good nights sleep and didn’t hear any noise like other reviews have mentioned.
Really good budget stay, would 100% recommend.
- Brian (10/5): - Handy with airport, trams and Murryfield Stadium.
- Angela (8/5): - This is a great, clean, convenient option right by the tram, to get into Edinburgh! It’s in a business area (so not cute) but it’s quiet and safe, and close to a mall if that’s helpful. The price was a bit high for what it was, but I assume it was higher than usual because it was during the Fringe Festival.
- Camden (8/5): - Convenient to tram to EDI airport.
Small rooms.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Extremely small room in good location - The room was extremely small with not even a towel rack to dry towels. However, the breakfast was decent and the front desk staff was very helpful. The location was good and easy to get a tram in to the city and then to the airport.
- Muzariri (10/5): - Convenient, neat, good
- James (8/5): - The hotel was fine for the price. Rooms very small but we were not spending much time in the room except to sleep
- tommypee1 (10/5): Solid option for budget stay in Edinburgh - You will get a very good budget option in Edinburgh if you decide to stay here.
The service was better than average. We managed to get room way before check in time, because the room was ready. Not all hotels does this.
Room was small as expected, but it was clean and it's good for short stays in Edinburgh. The only thing is the toilet, which is basically a closet. It should have proper door with proper air ventilation. Now it's just a closet.
Breakfast was decent for the money.
Location is good. Just few tram stops from airport and some tram stops to city center. There is also a nice sized mall right the opposite of the hotel.
- MatthewB16607 (6/5): Clean & comfy on a budget - Stayed for the Oasis gigs and was really handy to be a 5 min walk to the tram stop which took 15 min to Murrayfield.
The hotel was clean and comfy, staff friendly but overall not much to say about the facilities. The rooms are basic and a little odd layout wise, there was a wind tunnel going on so noise was a bit of an issue.
Side note breakfast is contential, no hot food other than toast.
- mama_m66 (10/5): Great location for airport - Stayed for 1 night with family, hotel itself is very clean. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location for the airport and easy access to the city. a short walk across the road to the tram stop.
Also next to supermarket which was handy for picking up last minute holiday things.
Would definitely stay again if travelling from Edinburgh airport.
- Robin (8/5): - Surprised by the comfort of our room, having our son sleep above us. Hotel was really bright and clean but only let down was lack of restaurant facilities nearby.
- Danielle (6/5): - Nice enough building but the rooms are hostel style tiny. Biggest issues for us were that the shower is in the sleeping/living area so zero privacy while showering/getting in & out. Also toilet has a room but the door does not go to the ceiling so in a small space, again, little privacy. Very convent to the airport and tram into Edinburgh proper. Loved the luggage scale in the lobby as well.
- Kayvan (10/5): - Helpful staff specifically in kitchen
- Robo18 (10/5): Great hotel in Edinburgh - We recently stayed two nights at this lovely hotel. Right from the airport we jumped on the tram for about 15 minutes and it stopped right outside the hotel. We walked five short minutes. The hotel was clean and we had a lovely room. They also had a very nice breakfast which we paid extra for. The transit in Edinburgh is incredible. In the mornings, we just hopped on the tram which took us right into the city center. Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. It’s not in the city center, but it suit our needs perfectly.
- Wilfredo (8/5): - Small rooms, good if needing to stay near the airport, but it’s far from the city
- Verified traveler (4/5): Avoid if you can. - Room very basic, blind stained and broken, felt like a prison inside. Communal space ok but room not comfortable. Premier Inn, Travel Lodge way better. Location only real positive.
- Kim (8/5): - We found the beds super uncomfortable
- nikieta (6/5): - Very basic room - fitted the purpose. Very Clean room although holes in duvet and a stain on one of the top sheets. Room was noisy but I played white noise to block out the other rooms noises with comings and goings in the passageway as well as a weird continuous wind tunnel rumble sound. 2x Twin beds was just enough room for one with luggage, I feel 2 people would be very crowded. As a woman travelling alone coming into the hotel late at night the area is very quiet but the area the hotel was situated in was dark so a little unnerving, there were however quite a lot of security guards on patrol which helps .. there are steps getting to the hotel and off the train platform. Breakfast was very busy and I did not stay for the complimentary tea that is available on the restaurant.
- StanislavC_13 (8/5): Budget hotel with excellent location - Our family of 3 adults stayed in this hotel for five nights on two occasions during July.
This is a budget hotel, so we fully expected the limitation of a small room for 3 persons. We were able to organize everything reasonably even with 2 suitcases - one large one and one small.
The hotel room’s window can’t be opened fully for security reasons (at least, that’s what the note said). We used the air conditioning unit. You can only set the temperature, but not the air flow. We somewhat struggled with the unit as sometimes the flow was strong and sometimes on the weaker side. However, it worked mostly OK for 3 people in a small room.
The beds were acceptable.
The toilet was a separate small room with an automatic light. No lock on the door, but no problem for us.
The shower was of a cabinet type with frosted glass in the middle part of the body. It worked OK for us, but might be less comfortable for some families or friends.
The cleaning prior to our arrival was satisfactory, but could be better.
The breakfast was reasonable for a budget hotel, although it would be good to have two yogurt types on all days. It was great that breakfast was starting at 5.30 as we had an early flight out.
There is a big parking lot next to the hotel (additional charge), but the price was reasonable and there were always free spaces.
The hotel has excellent access to public transport as the tram stop is on the other side of the road (5 min walk). This would take you to the center in 20 or so minutes and to the airport in 15 minutes.
Overall, the hotel was within our expectations for a budget hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very basic but sufficient. Easy walk to mall with food court and shopping. Easy walk to tram.
- Michelle (10/5): Wonderful staff close to train - The staff were an amazing help!
- Leanna (10/5): - The room was small, but clean. The tram was a very short walk away and was only a few stops to the airport. The staff were very friendly. Given that the room as small, it was nice to have a place, adjacent to the lobby, where you could sit, eat and watch some TV.
- Tina (8/5): - It’s a nice hotel. It was just pretty far outside the city I was able to take the trim in fairly conveniently. The room was also pretty small. I was not expecting it for what I paid.
- Kim (10/5): - Scott, at the front desk, was super helpful and friendly. We stayed one night before heading to Inverness. The hotel is safe, clean, and close to the tram.
- Daniel (10/5): - Charles night crew front desk very friendly & helpful & professional.
- Sarah (10/5): - Great for a stay close to the airport
- Deepali (2/5): Pathetic arrangements. - I was double charged for my stay. First by hotels.com and then by the hotel. Secondly there was no bedding in my room. I had to get the bedsheets pillow and duvet from reception and put it myself.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Airport hotel - The room are like small prison cells. It is good for getting sleep before an early morning flight, but for no more than that.
- Jared (10/5): - Only a couple of tram stops away from the airport since we had an early flight out for a quick weekend in Edinburgh, and was pleasantly surprised not only by the niceness of this affordable hotel but in the surrounding area. Short walk to Patina bakery down at the other end of the complex, and easy train into downtown for exploring this corner of Scotland.
- Jennifer (8/5): No frills no fuss stay. - Budget hotel, good value and everything we needed. Pillows weren’t great and had to ask reception for more as only one provided.
Quiet and convenient for tram to city and airport.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Poor service - Unfortunately, we made an error with the date when booking and were out of the country, so had no possibility of using it. Despite being many months in advance of the stay, the hotel was not prepared to ammend the date. It was a high season price and we were prepared to accept any dates. The hotel would not respond to us directly.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Great location for the airport!
- Jennifer (10/5): - Really enjoyed the breakfast!
- Samantha (8/5): - Staff were amazing!
Only critique is the room layout was odd, with the shower and wash basin in the bedroom….
Price was a bit high for that reason.
Location was what was convenient-right across from a tram stop and a shopping mall.
- Godfrey (10/5): - The hotel is excellently positioned to travel into the city by tram.
- brian (10/5): - friendy staff good clean environment great comfortable beds
- MIGUEL (10/5): - Close to Airport and train stop.
- Lynne (10/5): Ibis Budget Edinburgh - Pleasantly surprised at how good the Ibis Budget Edinburgh was. The twin room was small as were the beds, but it was comfortable enough to sleep in. Pillows could do with an upgrade as they are very soft and only one per person. Only one towel each too but staff happy to give you as many as you need. Free tea & coffee available all day was really appreciated. WiFi went down most of Sat unfortunately but apart from that, everything else was great. Will use again.
- Erica (10/5): Clean well organized - Easy to get to from Gyles Center Tram Station can see it from the station. Clean Budget hotel good for a one night stay. No restaurants on site and shops in the mall close early but it was easy for me to walk to the Delta for a healthy supper in their lounge.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Nice and quiet. Very clean. Breakfast was good. Good location-tram stop just across the street. The only negative is that there was no place in the room to unpack my clothes, so would not recommend for a long stay.
- George (6/5): - Room too small clever layout but still too small, and there are no phones at this hotel plus no one there for early call, TV ALARM Undependable.
like;s, We had an early flight we had to be at the airport just after 3.00 am when you are ready to go you push a button at reception and it requests a taxi from a local company it was there in 10 mins.
- Mary Katherine (6/5): - It's in an odd place. I missed having a kettle in my room. I would have preferred to pay the extra and have a full breakfast.
- Barbara a (10/5): - Excellent staff who were very helpful. Accomodations clean and fresh. Breakfast options delicious. Ease of transfer to hotel from airport to city and back was perfect. Budget accommodations which did not disappoint.
Would return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): 2 good things - The two good aspects of this hotel were 1) location close to shops & tram to Centre of Edinburgh. Otherwise it was clean & efficient. Both staff were courteous, though involved with a booking problem for another couple, which meant we were barely noticed! Our room was very small, only just navigable for 2 people. Ensuite was split into 3 separate parts. There was no kettle tea/coffee, you had to go to reception area for that. Not good value for the price paid (£140 p/n)
- Jennifer (10/5): - Close to airport and tram
Light breakfast
- Barry (2/5): - Dirty, tired, cheap, and in the middle of no where.
- MARY (8/5): - Easy to get to city by tram. Stop was across from hotel.
- Griselda (10/5): - Nice hotel, kind staff. Close to the Airport.
- David (6/5): - No kettle in the room, I know it’s budget but come on..
- Kenneth (6/5): - Very basic hotel , okay for one night.
- Corinne (10/5): - Rooms are small but efficient and clean.
- Martha A (10/5): Very nice service and clean hotel - Top notch. Friendly and helpful staff, clean hotel and coffee/tea all the time. Very nice. Good available too.
- Jacqueline (6/5): - Not value for money. Very noisy. Nothing round about but offices. The hotel was expensive to stay then you had travel expenses on top. Really felt ripped off paying £343 for one night
- Rae (8/5): - All good except for noise down from my window where hotel guests and/or staff gathered to socialize.
This was at midnight and no need for this.
- Helen (8/5): Good stay a bit away from the city center - The location is a bit far away from most attractions but easy to get to by tram or bus. It was clean & quiet.
- Sandra (6/5): - Small room, shower in a cupboard off the room, toilet in a different cupboard off the room, a sink in the room. No kettle, no fridge. Small bed. One chair and a small shelf which you can put a laptop on.
Not a great working environment. Close to the light rail into the city.
This place is OK, but quite pricey for what it is. Breakfast OK.
- Deborah (8/5): - Budget hotel so small and basic rooms which were expected. The rooms were very clean as was the hotel, friendly staff.
A couple of minutes walk to the tram for getting into the city centre.
One thing to note, this is a dog friendly hotel but dog's aren’t allowed where you have breakfast, even though this is basically the lobby.
- Lori (4/5): - Decent for a short stay. I mistakenly booked this location and when I asked well over 5 months if I could cancel with refund, the property refused even though I wanted to stay at the same brand hotel just closer to the city. I was traveling with a young child so being close to a hotel would have been helpful for mid day breaks.
When we got there one employee was on their break using the phone, the other no where to be found. We wanted 10 minutes to check in.
The room was small but decent. The floor was not properly mopped. I could see that dirt was just pushed around probably by a dirty mop. The beds were okay, although one bed had a nice full pillow and the other was a barely full flat pillow.
I did think that the pizza offering 24/hrs is nice especially since there is nothing else near by that stays open passed 6pm, however, we ate our pizza while overhearing staff argue with a lady about the same issue we had about canceling nights on her stay for a refund. I would shocked to hear the name say “I don’t understand your language” but both of them were speaking English. Shame on this blatant racism.
It was an easy walk to the tram to get to city center. The other side of the tram was a mall but it was always a ghost town when we walked over.
I wouldn’t stay at this property again. And I wouldn’t recommend to anyone else.
- Kim (8/5): - Clean, quiet & convenient. You can buy pizza, alcohol & other snacks, beverages at front reception. 15 mins from airport. Perfect for overnight stay.
- James (10/5): Brilliant hotel - Brilliant hotel - great location - tram stop nearby - friendly staff and spotlessly clean room with comfortable bed and a great shower - perfect at the price
- Heri (4/5): - Over price for what we got in the room .
Very basic room, small no facilities to make hot drink in the room .
Housekeeping just cleaned and tidy up the room as quick as they can ,didn’t even took some cups away .i don’t think this hotel want to changed become 4/5star hotel .
