Guest Reviews
- Hila (10/5): Perfect - Perfect
The girls are very nice
The room is clean and quiet
Very close to Trevi and all the main spots in Rome
Definitely next time we’re there!!
- Kristine (4/5): - The room was clean and comfortable but the service was terrible. They only come to register you and then there is no one around to help with anything. You have to email them and wait for a response if you need help getting taxis or for just general information. I would not recommend this place unless you are ok doing everything on your own.
- Molly (8/5): Unique but expensive - If you want to be near a lot of action, this funky little place will do the trick. The room was adequate but overpriced for overall service (no regular staff on hand) and comfort of beds. It was the most we paid for any room on our 14 night Italian vacation, but we did book late. They were accommodating with leaving luggage and keeping keys past check out. All in all it's a decent place especially if you're just looking for a room and not in need of amenities (they do have wi-fi of course). A bit hard to find, but sometimes that is a good thing.
- Antonio (2/5): - Check-in complicato.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - 1. Room did not look remotely as advertised
2. Late coming to check us in
3. The smell coming from the bathroom (moldy) was unbearable
4. Random water pooling on the floor
5. General uncleanliness of the room
6. Paper thin walls so we heard every neighbour all night
- Cristina (8/5): Quirky and arty, best location in Rome - We loved the place. Literally one minute walk from Trevi fountain and within walking distance to all main monuments in Rome.
The design of the place was fantastic, quirky and arty. The room was small but we loved it.
I was a bit worried as some of the reviews are really negative but I feel they are exagerations. If you are a big and tall person you might struggle in the room we got. But for us was perfect and we are average height and size.
The internet is not reliable. So if you need a good connection this will be a problem.
Other than that we found the place, the area and the staff really friendly and we ABSOLUTELY would come back here if we visit Rome again.
- Claudia (2/5): The most unprofessional staff I ever met. - As soon as I arrived to the Babuccio art suites, the staff (Maria e Elena) told me that there was a “technical” problem with my room and that I had to stay for two nights (out of 4) in another room/apartment in another area of Rome. I was scared because I didn’t know anything about this new place and I had to attend to an important conference. Once in the new place, I discovered that there was not hot water. I contacted Maria from the babuccio suites and she said that she was doing to fix it. Unfortunately, it was not true and I never had hot water in that place.
After the second night, I had to come back to the babuccio suites. I asked Maria to be back there at 7.30 am as I had the conference to attend. She replied by text that the room was going to be available for me as the “technical “ problem was now fixed. Once there I discovered that the technical problem in reality was an overbooking. Another person was in the room. I had to wait in a corridor until the check out time and the cleaning of the room. I finally entered in the room at 10.30-11 am, I finally did an hot shower and unfortunately lost over 100€ of a morning conference. I will never come back here.
I’m still dealing with them to obtain the receipt of the city tax I paid but after 10 days, they are still ignoring my request.
The place is not accessible for disables.
- Fred (2/5): Avoid at all costs! - A most disappointing and dismal place. Don’t be fooled by their photos as the place looks nothing like them in real life. Room was smaller than a dorm room, had rotting and moldy wood in tiny bathroom. Towels were provided for only 1. You could only get out of bed on one side and then only from mid bed toward the head forcing you to crawl over your partner. No on site staff made it impossible to get questions answered or problems resolved. No place to put luggage except in walking area. AC did not cool room. WIFI was not operational most of the time. Second room I had booked at same time was “not available “ forcing sons traveling with us to be moved several blocks away. As a long time traveler this was one of if not the very worst rooms I’ve ever encountered. Avoid as there are many in the area at a much better price!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Stylish and well located - Very nice and stylish place at a perfect location and for a good price. The round bed is a bit awkward but it's not bad.
- Georgia (4/5): Great Location, Very Disappointing Room - Check-in was easy. We let the staff know when we would be arriving and a man was there to greet us and they offered water bottles which was very nice. The location was very convenient. We were able to walk everywhere. Unfortunately, the room was VERY different than the pictures. There was no room for luggage. We had 2 small backpacks and stuggled to find a place for them. There was not a lot of room to move between the bed, sink, and washroom. The air conditioning did not work and was very loud. The room always felt hot. The washroom had a smell so you have to keep the window open. The room was cleaned daily, which was appreciated. If you stay here, be sure to ask for one of the larger rooms. It seems like all the good reviews are based on the other 3 rooms. All the bad reviews are of this room. I would recommend making it clear which room is being booked. Our confirmation said “double or twin room” but on their description this room is called the “basic double room”. Disappointing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location! - If you want to see Rome with no hassle this is where to go! Round the corner from the Trevi Fountain, we walked to the Vatican and the Colloseum.
- H (4/5): - This is a very nicely property and a great location but because there is no on property staff the check in and out is s hassle and unfortunately our key didn’t work when we returned to our room after dinner and we had no way of reaching them. The phone number on the listing is disconnected. We had to sleep at the fountain when we paid for a room. Also the air conditioning didn’t work and the coffee machine was broken. It’s too bad this is a cute little place and with some proper management it could be a great place. It’s spacious for a European hotel and the bed is comfortable and a nice bathroom and shower.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ok but read negatives - This place is ok but there were a number of problems you need to be aware of ahead of booking. Cons 1. Getting into the place can be an issue. 4 times we couldn’t get in. They have a million excuses as to why but it is infuriating going up to the door each time wondering if this time it will work or not. As the is unmanned and they won’t answer their phones at night you basically have to wait ages or hope for the kindness of strangers to let you in. Once we got there and there was someone trying to get in who had been waiting an hour. 2. Rooms is tiny. Creative pictures to say the least but good shower. 3. We stayed for 5 nights. You have to ask for new towels and sheets to be changed. Won’t do it until 3 days. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel too as they don’t top this up. 4. WiFi is rubbish. Worked for maybe 2 of the 5 days and when it did it wasn’t very good. 5. Walls are paper thin. Can hear everything going on in the common area. 6. Fridge is in common area not in room. 7. No air con so gets very warm. Pros 1. Location is amazing! 2. Clean 3. Comfy bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and actually has a king size bed - The hotel was nicely decorated and clean. There isn't someone working there 24/7, but the staff answered any questions I had over WhatsApp, which was absolutely perfect. Our room was much cheaper than the other places we stayed in Europe, but it was certainly the nicest place we stayed in.
Location is great too (less than 2 minute walk to Trevi fountain) and close to a shop that sells wine.
- Ashlan (10/5): Great place in the PERFECT location! - We loved our stay here!! You literally cannot beat the location, it is in the PERFECT place!!! Right next to the Trevi Fountain but on a cute quiet cobblestone street so you don't hear the hustle and bustle of the city. The area is in between everything and all major sights are within walking distance. Everything was clean and perfect! The only thing that sucked was that we arrived literally FIFTEEN minutes past 8pm and they still charged us the $50 late check in fee which was frustrating... but other than that, it's a great place for a great price.
- Gaye (10/5): Would be delighted to stay here again. - Extraordinary and friendly service. I can't thank you enough for all of your help. Thank you, thank you, thank you. To the door delivery and fast check in. Lovely and comfortable room so close to Trevi Fountain. Would be delighted to stay here again. Thank you again for all of your help.
- rik (8/5): Quiet place - Surrounding is quiet. Location is near Trevi Fountain.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic, clean and convienant - Check in was rocky...had to wait an hour for someone to show up even after correspondence with staff about arrival time in advance. Phone number on website does NOT WORK. Guy checking us in was very nice and apologetic. The place was fine for cleanliness and conveinance but neighbors (or other guests not sure) were very loud (until 4am) and walls are paper thin. I would stay in this area again just not at this place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, not clean - This hotel was just ok. Location was great for walking to sights. Lots of cafes just steps from the hotel.
It was not very clean, particularly the bathroom. The bed was round and the sheets did not fit which resulted in sleeping on a bare mattress...
The staff called me repeatedly at 3:00 AM in the days before arrival to confirm my checkin time. They called again at 5:00 AM. An email would have been sufficient.
If your goals are location and economy, then go for it. I would opt to pay a little more for cleanliness and more streamlined check in process in the future.
- Tamara (10/5): Unique, spacious hotel in a great location - We timed it - 2.5 minutes from our room door to the Trevi! Could it get any better than that? We were close enough to the tourist attractions but off on a little street to the side so it wasn't too quiet. SO many great restaurants and shops mere minutes away. Our room was very spacious which was great for laying out our luggage. The decor was unique and the place had great character.
- Hanchul (8/5): Beautiful Suite run by former ballerina. - Pros: It is an amazing suite with great design. The owner, who is a former ballerina, has a very good artistic sense. The location is fantastic, right next to Trevi fountain, but in a quiet street.
Cons: Owner is fantastic, and manager is great, but we did not like the cleaning lady. She literally sprayed disinfecting chemicals all over the place, so much that it gave us a headache. Towels smelled of chemicals too.
But manager worked hard to pertain to any of our needs, so any flaws were taken care of within a minute. Overall, I would recommend this suite to anyone who plans to travel Rome.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I am giving everyone advice not to stay in this hotel Its not a safe place to stay and hotels. com is to blame for putting wrong advertisement. I have really bad experience and I lost all my money. Pls do not stay in that hotel.
- Brenda (2/5): Hotel not as stated in the photos! - Our room was significantly smaller than in the photos. So small that the sink was next to the bed, not in the bathroom. So small that I barely fit in the shower (and I have a petite frame). So small that we couldn't even open our suitcases at the same time. So small that my boyfriend's feet touched the end of the bed (and he's only 5'8).
Bottom line: It felt more like a hostel than a hotel. We could hear everything that was happening in the living room and there wasn't any staff at the reception. I really disliked the experience and don't think it was worth the $100 a night. I won't tell you to not stay here, but I definitely won't recommend it to anyone I know. If it weren't because we prepaid the stay, we would've changed hotels.
- Ian (10/5): Very convenient and fun. - Unusually artistic/quirky historic stay 50mtrs from Fountain and much more.
- Stephene (10/5): Convinient and clean evironment. - The guest house provided a relaxed environment with professional service, helpful information and assisted with an online booking. The establishment is within walking distance to most historic sites and the beds are extremely comfortable. I will recommend this accommodation to all my friend and will in future book for myself without any hesitation.
- Chen (6/5): Great location! - There is no reception so we needed to call the owner in order to check in (we didn't bring a phone with us and needed to search for a favor from the locals)
Of you just want a bed to sleep in and a great location, this is for you
- Holly (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel - It is a very small boutique hotel that is charmingly decorated. Each room has a different look and theme. We had the pleasure of staying in both the Double and Triple room. If you are hesitant between the two, I strongly recommend going for the Triple if possible. The room was super lovely and beautifully decorated and considerably much more spacious. The views out to the cobblestone street was great too. Staff was very nice and friendly. Very centrally located and a stones throw from the Trevi Fountain.
- Jorge (10/5): Out of the ordinary hotel. - It was a great experience, nice rooms, very quaint.
- Shawn (6/5): Great Location at a Fair Price - Fabrizio was awesome. He tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were looking for a convenient location at an affordable price, and Trevi Fountain Art Suites fit the bill. Fabrizio arranged an early morning taxi to the airport, which was very helpful, too. Our major complaint was that when we arrived after a full day tour on our final night in Rome, it was a shock to us that our room was not made up with fresh, clean towels. With most Roman hotels not having a 24 hour front desk, we were stuck.
- Vernon (8/5): Fantastic staff - Needed to stay in another hotel the first night as another patron had the room in an emergency. Manager and owner were very apologetic and did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Fantastic experience.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The location for this property is centrally located to many key attractions in Rome. However this is a bed and breakfast not a hotel. If you need help with recommendations or directions there is usually no one on premises. However, I did run into the owner who did help us arrange transportation for the airport which was most helpful.
- Nathalie (10/5): Beautiful place at a reasonable price !!!! - We booked 3 days in Rome to start our honeymoon. The Trevi Fountain Art Suites was the perfect place for us. We REALLY felt like HOME but in the center of Rome. Located 2 corners away (1 min walk) to the Fountain Trevi, we loved it. Our room "Wings in the body" was very cozy, renovated, clean, with free wifi, a safe and a full bathroom.
Fabrizio was very nice and kept in touch with us when we had questions. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of a 5-star hotel, but wished to stay in a comfy, all equiped and well located room that is welcoming, Trevi Fountain Art Suites is the place to go. The price we paid for was very affordable, and we enjoyed every bit of it.
We strongly recommend this establishment to all tourist who wish to discover Rome by foot and city bus as it is so well located. WE LOVED LOVED LOVED IT and will surely return in our next trip to Rome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location by the Trevi fountain! Not your traditional hotel and we loved it. Rooms and bathrooms were updated. Nice little common area with the necessities and mini fridge in our room.
- Sergio (10/5): Unique gem in the heart of Rome - We are simply elated with the Trevi Fountain Art Suites. Just a fantastic, centrally located place to stay and explore Rome. Reasonably priced, incredibly well decorated and massive in size. Can't stop raving about it. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Incredible location, beautiful room. - A real gem right in the centre of Rome. You really can't beat the location, less than a minute from the Trevi fountain but still on a very peaceful street. We stayed in cleopatra and it was spacious and incredibly comfortable. Fabrizio was incredibly helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
- Shahram (10/5): Nice Guest House - Nice guest house ( this is not a hotel) very beautiful rooms feels more like a private house loved it, folks at reception desk ( there between 1000-1600 hour are very helpful and friendly , thumbs up!!
- Nikolas (10/5): Trevi art suites - Internet was bad in rooms, needed to go to lobby
- Nicky (10/5): Perfect! - Cannot fault value for money. Good size room, although original room was the tiny one and we were offered the option for the larger room which was vacated later in the day, as my husband is over 6' 3" and wouldn't have fitted in the shower. Our room was very good. small fridge and safe, which other members of our family staying in more expensive hotels did not have in their rooms. Only odd thing was the chair with a cushion on it when removed, discovered someone had gone through the ratan seat underneath. Should have been replaced really. Very clean, staff very helpful, location perfect as close to the Trevi fountain (5 min walk) but not that close that you get the noise. A very enjoyable visit to a very beautiful city. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (4/5): I would stay elsewhere - The hotel staff was courteous upon check in but absent at check out when we needed to call a taxi. No one answered the number they gave us to call at check out. The room was extremely tiny with the bed and bathroom in a loft. It was difficult to maneuver around and there was no place to put anything down. The air conditioner barely worked and the room had a funky smell. All this and the price was not cheap. I would stay elsewhere.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay for a reasonable price - Great location, spacious main room, very close to the Trevi Fountain, area could get noisy early in the morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome location - a few steps to Trevi fountain - Nicely designed room, quirky and spacious. Very good location near to all attractions and restaurants. Cheap breakfast options nearby.
- Regular travel (4/5): Good location, but it is not a hotel - It doesn't have the hotel facilities. I had to lift the luggage for over 10 high steps as there is no lift. Very small room with little space to hang clothing. There is no toilet paper holder. The bathroom shelf is very very tiny, and no cup provided for teeth brushing.
Although the lady who checked me in was very nice but speaks very basic English & the reception is not manned most of the time. I tried to call a taxi when leaving but couldn't get though & there was no staff there to help, so had to walked a long way to the main road with my big luggage on the stoned street to get a taxi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Trevi Fountain - Difficult to find but perfect location .
- Masha (10/5): Feels like home - Five days first time in Rome and could not hope for more. Not only the place is very central, in lovely style and immaculately clean, but also great personal advice from Fabrizio, all possible help with organising tours and whatever was needed. 100% recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasant surprise! - As a modern dance teacher, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to be able to meet the owner of this hotel. The space is very friendly and welcoming, with many interesting books on dance and other art lining the walls. There are only a few rooms in the hotel, and it felt very much like a home away from home. The central breakfast/lounge area was quite nice and had a great layout. The hotel is located on a quiet street near the Trevi Fountain - it is far enough away from the Piazza do Trevi to not get the noise, but only two minutes or less of a walk to all of the hubbub surrounding the fountain. I liked the card key access and the key card's control of the power to each room. In addition, the decor in our room was great. Another wonderful thing: the shower. I wish I could have it in my own home. Wonderful place to stay! I think I've found my home base for future visits to Rome!
- Addison (10/5): 10/10 would recommend! - This was such a wonderful find! I was looking for a hotel near the Trevi Fountain, and I could not have been in a better location. There are tons of little shops around the area, and plenty of great restaurants. The hotel itself is cozy, homey, and all together a happy environment.
