Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): Average.. - Okay đ
- god (6/5): - Floor and walls are dirty. Recommend wearing footwear.
- Uzzma (6/5): - .
- Zuraina (6/5): - A basic hotel
- zimbajamu (4/5): Enroute to dereliction - Looking through the reviews here, there are no recent ones. Things have deteriorated much since I first stayed here in 2019. Back then, service was friendly, room was nice and clean, aircon was functioning like it should. Perhaps blame it on covid restrictions past 2 years. Blame it on low cash flow to do maintenance. Blame it on lack of motivated staff. Truth is, this hotelâs standard has gone down. Broken, poor maintained room, unmotivated & deary staff working, moldy & poorly cleaned bathroom.. I can go on but you can probably get the picture. Pity, it was great back in 2019 but I wonât be returning.
- Sharminie (8/5): A perfect hotel for business trip - This hotel is recommended for those who are in business trip and not for leisure. Overall Iâm satisfied with the room and will come again for next trip.
- Shuhaida (10/5): - Prompt action taken for clog drainish in the bath room.Value for maney.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Tottally disappointing. - This hotel looks like a bussiness class hotel with the pictures and the price. But unfortunately, when i checked in, this hotel feels like a budget hotel with no shower water heater, no refrigerator, the room is small and the beds feel and look a very budget hotel. I totally disappointed on this hotel with the price and advertising. If the price is same as budget hotel i will not complaint on this.
- Nik Azlina (8/5): - Basic amenities, but okay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - New facilities. However some rooms were very small. And we were not given room with a view as per booking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Simple & Satisfactory - Overall was good. Small room for a very basic need. Acceptable cleanliness & had comfortable sleep despite that very bad pillow. Found stain mark on the towel which i never used. Perhaps, housekeeping should dispose that kinda towels.
- sivanasan (8/5): - Good aircon, comfortable bed, clean towels, room well lit, good WiFi and clear TV reception. Not much food near by is my only complain.
- ALooNK (8/5): - Im satisfied with the room, not too expensive the staff also friendly
- raven781 (10/5): Effulgent Wooden - From main entrance right up to the room, everything furnished with intricately wooden carving. Rimba synonym with Jungle or Forest in local language is the best budget hotel to stay in Terengganu and a stone throw away to access to the city center and Gong Badak Industrial Zone.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Poor service in terms of welcoming guests. Receptionist was not trained to be a frontliner. Mineral water was not provided for following day although room was booked for 3 consecutive days. Iron facility in only available at the lobby and it looked awkward for guests to do their ironing in front of other guests. NOT recommended to stay for more than 1 night unless management upgrades their services.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Terlalu sempit hingga xde tempat nk solat
At least consider that elemen
Thanks
- GM (6/5): Room accomodation - Very small room, not even a space for one small table and chair.
- Fazidah (10/5): Pleasant stay - Everything is GOOD!!! Fully recommended.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was too tight but perhaps suitable with the low price
- Mohd Afandi (8/5): - Clean room and spacious for king size bed room
- Ahmad Shah (6/5): - Please improve the breakfast menu
- Verified traveler (8/5): No hairdryer - No hairdryer in hotel.
For one night stay is OK. Before heading to one of the islands.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): Satisfied - The hotel was good. Heater water was not so hot, and there was no shower cap provided.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good hotel, it just too pricy if we compare to other location that have the same business climate and attraction. Hope the price would be go down a little bit for a small room like that.
- Verified traveler (6/5): âď¸âď¸âď¸ Moderate budget. - It is good for a short trip and a good experience for a change
- Paradise43037503807 (8/5): Great for a budget hotel - Stayed here for one night before heading to Merang Jetty on the following day. For your information, the ferries in Merang Jetty could take you to Lang Tengah, Redang Island and Pulau Perhentian. Distance from the hotel to Merang Jetty was approx. 30 mins.
Pros
Check-in was prompt
Staff was friendly
Room was clean and comfortable albeit it being small
Good air-conditioning
It's less than 5 minutes walking distance to Giant supermarket.
Cons
There's nothing much I can't fault this hotel. The only thing I could point out was the corridor area. It felt pretty humid.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Value for money, modern looking room - Stayed in a standard room no window for one night. Room is quite small, limited space to pray. Cleanliness top class and love the design of the room, very modern. The bathroom used a semi transparent sliding door. And have to walk down the lobby to request for iron as there is no telephone inside the room
- mastura (8/5): Hotel baru - Bilik kemas tapi tiada wifi
- Siti (6/5): Near to amenities - It is next to Giant supermarket which is double thumbs up. But the room that I got was very small.
- Redz_89 (8/5): Good stay - A good stay for a lower price hotel. We stayed for 2 nights for RM99 per night. Bed is comfortable with powerful air cond. Though it small, but I think its enough for us two. Its near to Sultan mahmud airport and Giant Hypermarket. Located at developing area, I think more to come in the near future. Got a bistro at the ground floor, food is nice, but little bit pricey. 15 minutes to the heart of Kuala Terengganu by car.
Its a good stay, and will stay again if I went to KT in the near future.
- NFarhana (6/5): Pleasant stay - I stay here because my sister booked this hotel for our family short gateway. I didn't expect anything just hope for comfortable room and good night at least. We arrived around 10 - 11pm and get a good service from the receptionist. We have a good night as we wish, there's a lift but do expect a very small room.
- danial8704 (6/5): Good room facility and nice decorations - Hotel design feel like 3star, the bed are comfortable, powerful air conditioning, have cable tv, the toilet is nice and very clean....the negative......wifi depending to room location as signal not very strong (our room locate at the end of hotel.middleroom can get better wife signal.) P/S: the hotel breakfast place feel like cheap coffeeshop
- EE TING (8/5): New and affordable hotel - Overall is okay since the hotel itself is new. The downside are the hard pillows, probably cheapest pillows they could get from the store and the shower did not have any separation causes the floor wet.
- Mohamed Armee (4/5): - Room to small and smelly, got Cockroach under the bed
- Mohd Affiq (4/5): - room too small for double queen bed..
- MUHAMMAD (8/5): Convince and conform room - I feel so good and comfortable to stay at this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is comfortable place to stay with the offered price. Location wise, is good. The hotel is nearby the city and hypermarkets.
- WinnieH418 (4/5): Smallest room I ever lived in - A really new hotel with ample parking space in front. As mentioned above, the room is too small as there is only 1 way for you to walk from the door, passing the washroom, reach the TV and the bed. And I have to put my luggage as well. The pillow causes neck pain after only a few minutes sleeping on it and I discover stained bed cover which remains there even after I asked them to make up my room. The water heater is non-functional in my room. Have to bathe in cold water early in the morning - 'really refreshing'. The TV channels include most local channels but can't find 8TV. National Geo and Fox movie channels are too blurry to watch. Giant Hypermarket and Mydin are nearby the hotel.
- norsyaliza (8/5): Easy access - A pleasent stay and near to the airport and big market mydin n giant supermarket
- Pow_Explorer (2/5): Hard pillow, bad service - I booked this hotel via phone and have to book twice to get the room because the first receptionist did not place it in the system. We finally got the room and its clean because its new. Small size room, its a budget hotel. The aircond is loud and irritating.
The staff was rude when I ask for extra pillow. She just turn her back to me without answering my question which I repeatedly asking for extra pillow. Just one extra pillow. She refuse to provide me with the extra pillow which is unacceptable or at least be polite to the guest. Anyway, the pillow that is readily available in the room is hard. Did not regret not getting it but disappointed with the service of the staff.
There are more budget hotel available in Kuala Terengganu, choose wisely.
Wish the staff are trained well in the future. Will not return again.
- cipan80 (8/5): Good as a Transit Hotel - The hotel is located near to the Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu. It's less than 10mins drive and taxi would cost you rm20.
Hotel seems to be new and clean. Its equipped with your typical lcd tv, complimentary drinks and coffee making facility. Its quite small but it serve its purpose as a transit hotel. Giant Supermarket is located across the street. A bit of a hassle should you plan to buy some stuff from there, especially if its raining. There are several eateries located nearby.
- ea (6/5): Its near to the airport and sports complex. - It a good and clean hotel but the room was too small. For the price offered, the room should be bigger.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean hotel close to Giant and 7 Eleven - Its a good and nice hotel. Room is quite small. It would be nice if they provide hair dryer, wifi and safety box
- SMSM (4/5): Too small - Room size is too small. Theres no space to put a prayer mat. Need to pray on the bed.
- ccliaymchan (6/5): A bit disappointed wz the service - Cleanliness of hotel consider good coz newly hotel.
Value of money, consider expensive, budget style hotel.
Location of hotel, near to airport but far from town area, however opposite Giant Hyper Market.
Wifi not able to connect in the room.
A bit disappointed wz the service provided by hotel after I check out. After check out for 2 weeks, hotel called me & claimed that I didn't make payment for my room. I booked & settled the payment via Agoda.com before I check in. Hotel suppose have to deal with Agoda.com instead of call me directly. If I didn't settle my payment, before check out, should ask me settle the outstanding bill. It had resulted I need to email the proof to hotel. At another 1-2 weeks time, hotel call me again, but I did't answer the call, coz Agoda.com confirmed payment settled. I feel very annoying n irritated for keep on calling me.
- JayB355 (6/5): Serves it's purpose - This is a budget hotel and we stayed for one night between flight and boat. It is very close to the airport and right next to a supermarket with food court (Giant). We had two rooms - one without a window which was tiny. The bathroom in here was only separated by a "privacy" screen.
The window room was larger and had a proper bathroom with a hot shower. The bed was hard and only accessible from one side.
All in all it was intended as a cheap stop over and it served purpose perfectly.
- TitiRahmawatiH (6/5): Room size too tiny - Stayed here in late May 2016 for one night. I booked this hotel by mistake. I thought that this hotel is near Pasar Payang Trengganu.
The room
Room size (Room 208) is too small. The double bed is pushed to the wall beside the toilet. The space beside the bed is narrow too, can only occupy one person (Muslim) to pray. I usually pray together with my husband; this is not possible to do in this room.
There is almost no space to put your luggage too. The only space to put the luggage is beside the dressing table near the toilet door. Be careful when you go out of the toilet to go to your bed; you bound to accidentally kick your luggage. Ouch.
The hotel is quite new. The room is clean, with white sheets and towels, but the carpets in the corridor is quite dirty and it was quite obvious. The pillows are quite hard, but I had a good night sleep when I stayed there; maybe because I was too tired after the very early morning travel.
The room has tea making facilities (electric kettle, cups and saucers, tea bag and coffee). Two bottled water is supplied free of charge daily. There is no mini fridge or safety box.
The toilet is quite small too but adequate. I like the shower â the water that come out of it is focussed and not going all over the place. The water pressure is good.
Iron can be borrowed from the reception but there is no ironing board. You have to iron your clothes on the small dressing table â quite a challenge.
The room rate differs with seasons, slightly more during the school holiday, about RM20 difference.
Location
The location is not good, quite isolated and the nearest place to get food is from the food court in Giant Supermarket, about 10 minutesâ walk. There will be problem if it is raining.
There is no public transportation serving this area. You would have problem to go from one place to another if you donât have your own vehicle.
Cars can be rent for about RM 90 per 24 hours or RM150 if you rent it form renting company in the airport.
Breakfast is not provided in this hotel and there is no stall selling breakfast near the hotel.
Taxi from Trengganu Airport to Hotel Rimba cost RM20 and it takes about 15 minutes drive. To Pasar Payang the taxi fare is RM25 and takes about 20 minutes. Hotel Rimba to TH Hotel is RM15 by taxi.
Hotel staffs
The receptionist are all Malay and all of them are helpful. However it took a long time for them to provide phone number of car rental company when asked.
Its good that this hotel has no smoking policy and i hope hotel guests will not smoke inside the hotel rooms.
- azmidi (8/5): Near to Sultan Mahmud Airport - A budget hotel as an alternative to pricey TH Hotel. The hotel is new with free car parking. Near to Giant Mall & Mydin Mall. Clean, cozy & comfortable but weak room WiFi coverage, no mini fridge & no kafe provided.
- gerald (8/5): Good transit hotel - Arrived on a late flight so was happy that the hotel was not too far from the airport. We booked a standard room just to rest up before moving on the next morning. The room was as we imagined basic but functional. We had a comfortable nights sleep. So if flying in late it is a good transit hotel at a very reasonable rate.
- Aimar10 (6/5): Air condition is noisy!! - I choose this hotel because its a new hotel, clean and good location. Not that cheap because I have to have family room (with children). The bad thing is that I cannot even sleep on the first night, the air-condition blower is really really really noisy, getting worst during midnight (outside more quiet). Next morning I complained and was given a chance to change to deluxe room next door, and surprisingly the air-condition is still noisy. The staff said that every room had a noisy air-condition, a honest statement. So this issue had to look into if this place to be called a hotel again, or else this is only a rest house. Luckily the next night I had a trip for fishing, do not sleep in the hotel. The third night I had made my mind, no coming back to this hotel (until air-condition system upgraded).
- 44prakashv (6/5): This newly opened hotel is good for overnight stay - Tourists going To Redang Island in Malaysia get down at Kuala Tirangganu to catch ferry. We chose this hotel for an overnight transition stay.
It is located near giant mall, but nearest vegetarian food outlets are around 3 km away. It is about 5 kM from airport.
This is a newly opened hotel, furniture and decoration is brand new, not lavish but tasteful. Rooms are slightly smaller and comfort rooms are narrow and longer.
You can stay in this place for a short overnight stay.
- MAXIE (6/5): Comfortable but average. - Booked standard room with window. Clean room, very basic but pretty small. Not much area can move, even partner have to perform pray on bed due the limited space. The counter service very efficient and friendly, which take less than 5 minutes to check in. The room provide simply 2 drinking water, drinking water heater, nescafe, tea, few pack sugar and cream. For the bathroom, there's not control over shower heater at all, and only get light warm for morning shower, which still pretty cold. Wifi is slow, barely can use. Overall it is comfortable, but can be better.
- atty26 (8/5): Very new & clean hotel - Booked a deluxe king room. I have searched for many hotels in KT via TripAdvisor but most of the reviewers either complain about the age of the hotels or there's smell etc. Luckily in the end found this and no regrets staying here. As others mentioned the room is very clean. The hotel is in a new shop-lot area, neighbouring shops do not even have tenants yet. Ample parking space. There's Giant and Mydin hypermarkets nearby. Centralized air conditioning, cold enough but was making a slight noise. Shower water pressure is good, though water clogged up easily, maybe just the room I was in. Has lift access to rooms. Wifi was slow.
- sssamchang (10/5): 3d2n stay - Best hotel to stay while visiting KT:
- Clean rooms
- Value for money
- Ample carparking at entrance
- next to Giant supermarket
- prominent location as you exit the airport
- good shower facilities
Was definitely an enjoyable stay and would would come back again!
- Noraini (6/5): Acceptable stay - Facilities need to be improved such as telephone in the room and provide an ironing board.
- zainuddinabuh (8/5): Accomodation - Room is nice and clean except the pillow a bit hard.
Easy to find the hotel.
Parking space a lot in front of the hotel
Overall experience was very good and with the reasonable price for business traveller
Keep maintain the hotel.
- emyliamohdnor (6/5): New hotel next to Giant and Mydin - We stayed here for 3d2n.
A new hotel, started operation in January 2016; shop lot hotel. As of March, the other shops are still vacant; ample parking space. Hypermall; Mydin & Giants nearby - easy to find food. Kampung Losong where you can buy keropok lekor is nearby. Airport, the 2 universities are nearby too. About half an hour drive to town.
We occupied 2 rooms - 301 & 302. As expected, the rooms are small. For the Muslims, you have to bring your own prayer mat.
What you can find in the room : 32inch flat screen tv, coffee making facilities, complimentary shower gel & shampoo, towels, no wardrobe only 3 hangers, hard pillow.
The rooms & bathrooms are clean. No stains whatsoever on bed sheet & pillow. Good wifi connection in Room 302, not good in Room 301.
Staff not so friendly, maybe because we insisted on early check in without having to pay additional RM50. Mom was terribly sick & we had nowhere to go for 4 hours if we were to check in at 2pm. We requested for 1 room first. At first they told us full occupancy when there were only 4,5 cars parked outside & they have 70 rooms. Few minutes later they allowed us to have 1 room but we had to pay RM50. I refused to pay. If I paid that RM50, maybe they would acknowledge us, be nice to us whenever they saw us.
Its ok to stay here for a night or 2 but for me, if I were to visit Kuala Terengganu again, I will choose a different hotel with slightly bigger room.
- aisyahmarliza (10/5): the hotel is cheap and also comfortable - i just love the hotels because it has the new concept and design. the room was modern concept, will awaits the special offers for free breakfast together with bookings. the bed was comfortable, toilet is clean and new design, shower is great.
