Guest Reviews
- Maria camila (7/5): Very pretty but wouldn’t Return. It’s not worth the price - The staff was wonderful, the location id you don’t mind loud neighborhood, the house is beautiful, definitely not for kids The noise in the Street, the price is not worth it
- gielv587 (10/5): Great hotel, 100% recommended - Great hotel, good service, perfect location and very well atmosphere with great looks…!
- Linda (10/5): Beautiful hotel! - It’s a beautiful hotel. Breakfast was delicious. My room was outstanding. Location was perfect if you are interested in the old city. Most of the staff was well trained and helpful. Check in was a little rocky, they use those gizmos that you have to scan to get information. My phone would not pick up the code which meant several trips to reception to ask about the safe, hot water, hours for breakfast and mini bar prices. But luckily my room was very close to reception.
¡Altamente recomendado!
- JANIE (4/5): The best location to explore the city but too tired and in need of updating. - The location is 10/10 - the perfect spot to explore the old city. The breakfast was superb. The beds were comfortable. We were in the worst room at the back of the building but moved mid-stay and the new room was fantastic apart from the cold shower. We stayed in a most awful room at the back of the building. The shower was mouldy and never hot. The bathroom sink only supplied cold water and the toilet continually smelt like a urinal. The whole place is tired and although it is an old building, it needs updating throughout.
We stayed for a week so wanted to relax by a pool in the afternoons - this just isn’t possible here - there is no sun on the downstairs dip pool and the roof top is just a jacuzzi, which has a windy steep access and a few beds to sunbathe.
It is not a place to relax in communal areas - the ‘bar’ is not convivial and the ‘spa’ is just a bed in a room no bigger than a cupboard. I would say it is more like a B&B than a hotel. The staff were friendly.
If you want to come and explore the city for a couple of days and just use the hotel as a base to sleep, then it is fine. But don’t expect a hot shower!
- 562behzadk (10/5): Terrific Boutique Hotel in The Old City - Fantastic service in picturesque historical surroundings.
- P1424JElorrainer (10/5): Beautiful hidden gem in the walled city! - We booked Casa De Alba for my 45th birthday with zero regrets other than I wish we spent for time here :) the hotel is so charming and special it felt like a hidden gem right in the middle of the walled city. The proximity was perfect and close to everything! The breakfasts on the upper patio were delicious and relaxing and our favorite part was the pool area. It was like a spa oasis getaway when you needed some calm after a day/night in the busy city. The staff are very attentive especially Leila. She upgraded our room to the suite for my birth day and it made it all the more special. The 2nd floor suite is stunning with a private patio overlooking the pool. Very clean. Would recommend this beautiful boutique hotel 10/10!!
- trishw764 (10/5): A Magical Stay – Luxury, Heart & an Unforgettable Island Experience - Our stay at Casa de Alba Hotel Boutique was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt the warmth, elegance, and soul of Cartagena wrapped around us. The colonial architecture, serene courtyard pool, and rooftop ambiance create an atmosphere that is both elevated and intimate.
The rooms are absolutely stunning. Each suite is spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable — and what makes them even more special is that each room has its own personality and character. You can feel the thought and intention behind every detail.
The entire hotel was impeccably maintained. Whether returning in the morning or late in the evening, everything was consistently spotless, organized, and beautifully turned over. That level of care truly enhances the guest experience.
The culinary experience was equally exceptional. Breakfast each morning was fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. The dinners were outstanding — refined, flavorful, and memorable. Every meal felt intentional and elevated, adding another layer of excellence to our stay.
What truly sets Casa de Alba apart, however, is the people. The service was exceptional in the most genuine way. A very special thank you to Johann and Thomas, who helped me plan such a meaningful and seamless experience for our group of friends. They went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Laura, Carlos, and the entire team were always attentive, kind, and proactive. You can truly feel that they care about their guests.
A highlight of our trip was the visit to their private island at Amare Beach Club — absolutely 5 ⭐️. The setting is stunning, the service impeccable, and the overall experience beautifully executed. It was one of the most memorable parts of our stay.
The value was absolutely worth every penny. For the level of service, design, cleanliness, dining, and overall experience, Casa de Alba is very reasonably priced and delivers far beyond expectations.
Although in the city center , which it’s convenient, we didn’t hear any noise from outside ( our room was by the pool )
We traveled as a group, and everyone left saying the same thing — this trip felt magical. The hotel played a huge role in that. It feels like staying in a private, beautifully restored home in the heart of Cartagena, with access to an incredible island escape.
We will absolutely return. The connection feels lasting — not just for me, but for our friends as well.
Casa de Alba is not just a hotel — it’s an experience.
- Paula (8/5): The hotel is located in the old city, center within the walls of Cartegna. An area made up of renovated old boutique hot - Friendly and helpful team ( especially Milton, Marilyn and Thomas) who ensured that we had a comfortable stay. Perfect location, quaint and beautiful. there is a old faint musty scent because these builds are old renovated buildings.
- stushigalstyle (8/5): It was just okay…. - My husband and I visited in celebration of his birthday. I was excited about staying at this historic mansion. The hotel is beautiful, stately, and has so much character. The staff are nice and they tried to make sure we were comfortable. I was even able to arrange to have the room decorated for my husband’s birthday prior to our arrival. Pablo did a great job of making sure every detail was taken care of and I’m very appreciative of that. BUT, if you’re planning to stay here, keep in mind that the building is quite old. Upon entering the building, it’s hot and humid, the air conditioning works but it takes a while for the room to cool, AND to top it off, our room had NO hot water. I don’t know about you but one thing I absolutely CANNOT compromise on when I travel is a hot shower. I wasn’t able to take one at all during our stay and it was extremely frustrating. When we told the concierge about the hot water he told us that the water does get hot but that we could not take a 20 minute shower. NOTE that the water didn’t even stay hot for 5 minutes, let alone 20. We both were forced to shower in cold water. Unfortunately when something that’s a deal breaker occurs, it tends to overshadow the good stuff. I would not stay here again.
- 800mariyaw (10/5): Fantastic Trip - Went to Cartagena on a girls trip. We had the best time. The hotel was fantastic. Beautiful, historic and centrally located. Leyla the concierge was amazing and took care of everything we needed. We will definitely be back.
- DancingqueenXOXO (10/5): A real hidden gem!! - A real hidden gem right in the heart of the old city walls. When you arrive at this wonderful hotel you feel like you have stepped back in time. The original features and interior design are both stunning. The staff are so lovely and go above and beyond to make you feel at home, especially Leyla and Milton who were both truly exceptional. I had an amazing time at Casa de Alba and would definitely return in a heartbeat.
- tmmontan (10/5): Stunning property! - Casa de Alba was an absolute pleasure. It was centrally located and offered a tranquility to balance out the liveliness of Cartagena. Vanessa and the rest of the team was a delight and appreciated her hospitality and attention to detail. They made my stay so wonderful from recommendations, assisting with reservations and any questions I had along the way.
The property is stunning and when I return to Cartagena I will gladly return to Casa De Alba.
- Anas (10/5): fantastic - the place is charming and bringing you atmosfer 200 years back , the staff extremely friendly and helpful
all of them specially the front desk Leyla she is putting her heard in her job and treat the guest as her personal guest
- adiiiiiin (10/5): Charming - Charming place nice location friendly staff specially the front deck ladies
Helpful. Definitely will come back to this hotel if you come to Cartagena this is the place to stay safe and in the best location all best restaurants in the town are between 200 and 500 m
- Wanderer669610 (10/5): Magical Hotel full of History and Beauty - This was a stunning hotel. We felt as if we were magically transported the moment you walked through the doors.
The staff was helpful, the breakfast was delightful and fresh everyday, the rooms were very clean with comfortable beds, little noise and air conditioning. We also enjoyed relaxing at the pool after a long day of walking around.
Highly highly recommend!!
- Wendy (9/5): - Location, cool inside the building and great pool. smelt beautiful lively beds
- G9819QRelizabeths (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel - Perfect experience. Beautiful hotel with incredible staff. Hotel has very few rooms with makes it even more special. Beautiful swimming pool too. And the location is great
- Clarrie (10/5): Fantastic experience -
- P6311EGsamanthah (10/5): Beautiful Architecture and Great People - Such a beautiful hotel right next to Plaza de Bolívar and the Museum of Cartagena de Indias. The ambiance transports you in time back to the colonial era. The service is unmatched and the rooms provide an escape from the busy streets.
- RAINER (9/5): - Kurz gesagt alles war hervorragend sehr zu empfehlen.
- EmDaTravelLover (10/5): An Unforgettable Stay in Cartagena - This hotel is truly stunning. The location couldn’t be better — it’s close to everything and perfect for exploring. The staff was beyond amazing and so attentive. I felt completely taken care of the entire stay. Highly recommend!
- D7369FPjesusb (10/5): 13/10 - Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Do you like to feel safe and at home?
Do you like to feel authentically welcomed?
Do you like amazing hospitality?
Do you like to feel that you are not a burden by asking so many questions?
Are you looking to impress you partner with the most romantic package?
Casa De Alba is what you are looking for!!!!! Stay here! I don't want you to miss out on one of the TOP things to experience in Columbia; hospitality and love. The thought and effort that they put into making our stay was absolutely above and beyond. Laura was ABSOLUTELY amazing. I had tears in my eyes when we had to check out. She made my wife feel the MOST SPECIAL, when she decorated our room and when we worked together to set everything up. If I am able to post the picturecI will. My Wife SCREAMED with JOY when she saw the details of the decorations. The rose petals were lined up and in perfect formation, not just tossed. We only stayed 3 nights, but it felt like we were there for much longer with the amount of time they would inform us about the city, or help us plan something. They sent us links, they suggested special spots, they helped us with reservations. They made us feel like family. Vanessa was right there to take over when Laura's shift was over. And she kept making sure everything was up to perfection. Thank You so Much Vanessa and Laura. We really feel so special. Carlos and Antonio, you both went above and beyond ALL of the time. I would ask them for coffee and random times and quite a bit, and the would run up to get me some. They wouldnt let me carry it back on my own, they would want to deliver it to my room. ABSOLUTELY outstanding. They wanted to do everything they could to provide us with the best service. And they served us with love and smiles at all times. I couldn't break their smile even if I tried. They really served us with full love and joy. And I asked them for at least 14 cups of coffee at random times during our stay. Leaving was the hardest part of our stay. There wasn't one standard moment. Everything was far above.
The room, ABSOLUTELY beautiful! Historic with beautiful local authentic decorations. From the second you knock on the door you can feel the history in the walls. The bed was soooo comfortable. Beautiful balcony view for breakfast. Listening to the thunderstorms in the room with the AC on(🤣)was such a beautiful experience.
YES! YES!! YES!!! ABOSULTELY stay here!!!!
- Amira1212 (10/5): Just incredible! - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Staying at Casa de Alba is like stepping inside a storybook—a colonial masterpiece tucked inside the Walled City where history, elegance, and modern luxury live in perfect harmony. This 17th-century mansion has been lovingly restored, and every corner whispers of the past while wrapping you in contemporary comfort.
With only a few rooms, the experience is intimate and exclusive—you’re not just a guest; you’re part of the soul of the house. The location is unbeatable, literally in the heart of the old city within the ancient walls.
The service was impeccable from start to finish. A special thank you to Venessa who welcomed us with such warmth—it set the tone for an extraordinary experience.
If you appreciate timeless beauty, personalized care, and historic charm, Casa de Alba will exceed every expectation.
- Jenifer (10/5): - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A truly hidden and exceptionally intimate sanctuary in San Andrés. From the moment we entered, it felt like we had stumbled into our own private villa, complete with tranquil interiors and personalized service that rivals any five-star resort. With just a handful of rooms, each space is curated with exceptional detail and care, making it feel like a bespoke haven.
What made this stay unforgettable was the intimacy—it was as if the hotel itself knew our pace, our tastes, and our need for quiet luxury. The service was flawless, deeply kind, and genuinely attentive. I highly recommend asking for Leyla, who greeted us with such warmth and grace, setting the tone for the entire stay. We remained under Leyla and the team's care each day, and felt unbelievably held and taken care of.
If you're looking for a boutique experience that feels personal, serene, and elegant, Casa Harb is a once-in-a-lifetime escape.
- Heabie2 (10/5): Awesome - The staff, breakfast & location were incredible. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit. If I had to complain about something it would be the lighting in the upstairs bedroom’s. Big closet mirrors, but couldn’t see to do makeup or hair. I could not even tell the color of my shorts. Easy fix I’d think. With that being said, I would definitely stay there again!!!
- Gitanjali (10/5): - Incredible experience of history and luxury staying in the mansion that used to be the property of Sir Francis Drake. Perfect central location and amazing service.
- olgah650 (10/5): Enamórate - Centrally located, staff over the top helpful, insightful, rooms beautiful, extremely clean, breakfast freshly made daily and snacks made fresh for you upon request! Breathtaking boutique style, comfortable beds and bedding. Nice dipping pool upon entry and on rooftop. Gorgeous balcony views, and keep look out for amazing wedding happening right across the street, they are straight out of your favorite telenovela.
- Odyssey01465492144 (10/5): Best boutique hotel en el centro. - This is a fantastic place to stay! The photos are all accurate and the staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Milton, Ivan, Sebastian and Christian. They ALL went out of the way to make our stay super enjoyable. They even brought me a birthday dessert with my breakfast and sang to me!! A wonderfully historic boutique hotel conveniently located in the heart of the Cento Histórico. If you have the chance, don’t hesitate to stay here. You will not be disappointed.
- Pablo (4/5): - We were disappointed. We
- patricia (10/5): - Beautiful hotel with super helpful staff. Cristian and Sebastian could not have been better!
- Edward (10/5): - Great property in an ideal location
- Pablo (10/5): Family trip to Cartagena - We had a lovely stay with my family! The hotel is so beautiful and historic. The staff was amazing , Sebastian and Chris took great care of us. We will be back!
- Tram (10/5): Exceptional -
- markvade (10/5): Bang for your buck! - The hotel is great. The history is super cool, especially if you are familiar with Francis Drake. The courtyard is beautiful, with a nice pool there and a pool on the rooftop (which does get a little noisy because of machine whirring).
The location is top notch, 5 minute walk from all the tourist sights in the Old City, but from here you can also walk to Getsemani. The area around the hotel is safe, we never felt uncomfortable or whatsoever.
The staff is super nice, very attentive. The breakfast was good too in the morning, with a great view from the balcony of the street below. Also make sure you try the ‘Mojito’, or the ‘El Draque’, as it was invented by Sir Francis Drake.
The only con would be that you have to pay for bottled water, and the beds are on the small side.
- tanisiac2018 (10/5): Look no further. - I could not say more wonderful things about Casa de Alba.
I went with two friends for 4th of July weekend and the staff gave us an unforgettable experience! We were welcomed with coffee and a mimosa upon arrival. We then got a tour of the house while our bags were taken to our room. The staff offered very helpful recommendations for activities. Breakfast was made to order each morning.
The beds were comfortable and the AC worked well. We always felt safe, day or night.
- Hairis (3/5): I won’t be back - The rooftop had a nice view Unfortunately our stay wasn’t what we expected.
The room was quite small with huge unnecessary furniture which meant we had no room once our bag was laid out
The power cut out 3 times, once while showering which was dangerous as it was pitch black.
They tried to charge us for water from the mini bar that was from a jug (not bottled) when I questioned they removed immediately.
We asked if we could check in early & were told it was $150 but when we dropped our bags 2 hour before check in they said your room is ready but still wanted to charge the fee, even though the room was visible from the lobby.
They said breakfast was included but when we sat down we didn’t receive a menu and had to google translate to even get a menu, we were served breakfast one at a time despite being the only people at breakfast, taking 45 minutes.
The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the neighbouring rooms and outside.
For a ‘boutique’ hotel the towels weren’t good quality; nor were the pillows or soap.
This place isn’t worth the price and I won’t be coming back.
- D1053TPcarloss (10/5): A Week to Remember Forever- Family and Friends - ipAdvisor review
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay- look no further than Casa De Alba. When we were looking for a place to host our friends for a wedding celebration, our search stopped at Casa De Alba. We started our discussions with Johann, and we knew from the gate that we were a fit for each other. Johann and the Alba team were so patient with us- answering all of our questions and as we continued discussing how to make our dream destination wedding celebration a reality.
When you plan a wedding ceremony from another country, it can be full of uncertainty, but their constant communication and turnaround time for answering questions or providing options put our minds at ease.
What impressed us most was how well connected they were in the community and how well they know Cartagena. Whether it was getting tips on how to navigate around Cartagena or finding a boat excursion- all of the vendors exhibited the same elite level of hospitality.
We had the pleasure of hosting two birthday celebrations with family and with friends. I can confidently say that we saw so much value from our investment in staying with them. All of their staff onsite vendors they recommend were fantastic- whether it was the DJ, the many boat options, the cumbiamberas etc.
While we were there Johann and the GM, Thomas were there onsite to help us and make us feel at home. Even when we had to make some last minute changes, their flexibility is unmatched. In fact, all of their staff onsite were incredible. They always looked out for us same were always there for suggestions and to help us feel comfortable. They made our stay there feel like it was our own home.
We walk away from our stay at Casa De Alba with an experience of a lifetime with friends and family that they will never forget. And if it wasn’t amazing enough they were there to say goodbye. The Alba Hotels team is now like a family to us and look forward to spending more time at their hotels in the future with more friends and our own family one day.
- michael (10/5): - Amazing location, staff is attentive to needs
- TheBoys (10/5): - Sebastian and Christian were very helpful during our stay. Sebastian took the initiative to make sure we got to our adventure and found the pick up area for our Beach Day. Thomas gave great restaurant suggestions. The staff did an awesome job and they are the type of people that make guests want to return.
We were there celebrating a 20th anniversary and the hotel was very quaint. We felt like family during our visit in this boutique with 7 rooms. Loved reading a book on balcony overlooking pool & during breakfast on the patio across from the church & square. The rooftop was cute but we did not get to use it. We didn’t realize the history behind Casa Drake until we kept seeing the stops by different tours & people wanting to catch a peek inside.
Size of room/closet/bathroom and walkable location were both the best hidden gems! We really enjoyed Wall City! We plan to return!
- Zidania (10/5): Breath taking and luxury. - I Loved Leones de alba. It was beautiful. Staff were amazing especially breakfast and room service staff. Breakfast was great. They decorated my hotel for my birthday and I was extremely impressed. The location was perfect right in the middle of the city, it was very safe.
- Irina (10/5): - Staff is very helpful
- Abaha3 (6/5): Nice but not luxery - Very cute hotel and great location. One of the things I look for before booking is the service. This hotel had top-notch reviews . Our original communication with Pablo was wonderful . He was very responsive and helpful with suggestions. We arrived and were greeted by Laura with fresh cold towels. We only saw her for the first 20 minutes of our stay, and she was so helpful and caring and gave some quick suggestions. After that, customer service was downhill due to one person . He was not friendly at all, and we felt we were bothering him with any questions. Had a little issue with the toilet and he seemed annoyed when we asked him to get maintenance. We even asked if Laura was around, and he said no. I promise we are not difficult people. The room originally had a strong smell because they said they painted a section, and Laura offered to move us, but we decided to stay because it was the biggest room for family of 4. I think the reason we may not have gotten the greatest service from this one particular gentleman was because he asked to add the service charge ( tip) while checking in but we stated we prefer to take care of it at the end. All in all, the service was NOT what the other reviews stated. They were some nice worker so I do not want to take away from them but this one person was there with us most of the time. Sad how one person can ruin an experience
The hotel itself could have been kept up with a little better. I don't think it was luxery and not worth almost $600 ! a night. I think this rate was with a 40 % discount from the site. So it should have been more ??
The water in the shower got cold pretty quickly, so we all waited a bit before the next person could take their shower.
One great thing was the air-conditioning!!
- NatCastle18 (10/5): Luxury, comfort and cleanliness - The best part of my trip to Cartagena was Palmas de Alba Hotel. The level of comfort, combined with staff friendliness, cleanliness, and amenities were all top tier. The butler service, Alejandro in particular, was very attentive to my needs. Alejandro always greeted us with a welcoming smile and ready to assist us with anything at a moment’s notice. Daniela also made sure that everything ran smooth for us in the daytime. The Reservations Coordinator, Pablo was equally responsive via WhatsApp to any request or question we had. I most definitely recommend this place for a relaxing, luxury tropical get away. The property is very well maintained, and the pools are perfect for cooling off. It’s just a couple blocks from the busier side of the walled city which was perfect for getting a good nights rest. We were able to walk to the majority of places, saving on taxis and/or car rental and parking. The included breakfast is a quality freshly made breakfast and we felt zero need to go elsewhere unlike other places we’ve stayed at. We will definitely be back here anytime we visit Cartagena.
- Rosanne (8/5): Very good -
- brookedQ1436RD (10/5): Just beautiful - Loved this hotel, it was so exceptionally designed and the vines draped beautifully into the atrium which had a pool. The rooftop had a pool as well.
The service was amazing, we worked with Antonio. Would definitely recommend. The food was great, had a nice little porch to eat breakfast on with a view of the cathedral
- Daniel (10/5): - Loved this gorgeous place - an oasis in the heart of the old city . Beautiful rooms and pool. Attentive, friendly staff who treat you with genuine care and interest. Well worth the price - a real treat.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Quest566474 (10/5): Cared for in Cartagena! - Everything was exceptional. The people, service, accommodations, and food were amazing. Our group had the entire hotel and stayed several nights. The staff knew our names, preferences, and even went above and beyond by escorting us to and recommending several experiences nearby. We felt safe and cared for. We will definitely be back.
- Evgeniya (10/5): Best place in Cartagena - Absolutely amazing property !
One of a kind . Every single detail of this hotel is very well thought out . This place is conveniently located right in the center of old Cartagena . Stuff was very friendly and helpful.
I would love to come back ! Nothing . Enjoyed every minute of our stay
- ChristinaQ83 (10/5): Celebrated 20 years of sisterhood! 🔺💃🏾 - We recently hosted our 20 year reunion at Casa de Alba! They were so attentive and accommodating and we loved being able to have the place to ourselves. The service here is top notch! Not only did they pick us up and drop us off, they escorted us around the city and made sure we felt extremely safe. It was such a pleasant experience that we can’t wait to come back! Thank you Alba Group Hotels!
- Voyage298364 (10/5): I love Casa de Alba! - The most beautiful
Place and amazing stay ever! I don’t know where to start with the exquisite lay out or the exemplary customer service. Casa de alba and staff were absolutely amazing. You must visit this sensational hotel you will not regret a moment spent.
- stargirl1975 (10/5): MUST STAY HERE!!! Such a beautiful hotel, centrally located with amazing staff like family! - This boutique hotel was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff was so warm and friendly and welcoming, every morning and evening we were greeted by our Cartagena “family” - they were available for anything we needed and had wonderful suggestions as well. The breakfast was delicious! They were also accommodating about making changes as needed. The decor and quality of the hotel and rooms was exceptional. We (family of four) booked a room with two floors, the first floor had a king bed and the bathroom and the second floor had two beds for my children. It was beautiful! And the entry way, first floor pool, second floor breakfast room and terrace pool were all unbelievably gorgeous!!! I cannot recommend this hotel enough, its a MUST STAY when you visit Cartagena, I am so looking forward to returning:). A special thank you to Christian, Laura, both Carlos’, Sebastian, and everyone else who took such amazing and special care of us, we are in awe of your kindness and hospitality. Thank you!!!!
- Debra (10/5): - Outstanding hotel. Staff is friendly and warm. Will recommend to everyone
- Jasmine (10/5): - This property is gorgeous. It is located in a walkable area to everything you may need. The staff was attentive and very helpful. I recommend you stay here the next time you are in Cartagena. You will not be disappointed.
- Wajeeha (10/5): A gem of a hotel! - My kids and I stayed at Casa De Alba for 4 nights in early June. We found the room and hotel in line with the online description. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was super helpful and responsive. We appreciated breakfast which was filling and delicious. The front desk always gave good recommendations and booked the walking and beach tours for us. The location was also extremely convenient. Overall, an A+! We would definitely stay here again.
- Naveen (9/5): Superb -
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darrell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): lovely - we loved our stay here. our room was huge and comfy. breakfast on the terrace was lovely. there were a few sunbeds down by the pool downstairs and up on the roof. we also loved cocktails on the roof. located perfectly in the Center of town we felt safe walking everywhere.
- Brooke (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ivana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Superb location Small room
- Carin (10/5): - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful!
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb -
- Ramiro (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - Historical, nicely furnished Needs more contemporary updates
- Stacy (3/5): If you are American, prepare to be price gouged. - The location was great. The common areas of the hotel were lovely. This is the 1st negative review I've ever written but people should know what they are paying for. The physical space, which supposedly "slept 6", was extremely cramped, not enough room to open your suitcase unless it was on top of your bed. The beds took up all the floor space. There was only 1 bathroom for 6 people. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom door, which was 6 inches from one of the beds, WOULD NOT close! If I had known how small it would be, I would have rented 3 separate rooms. For the price (more than $1000/night!), it was absolutely subpar. If the bathroom door was working, the room would have been good for no more than 2 people.
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victor (9/5): Definitely worth it - Perfect location, can not but be better. Hot water
- Nutan (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the immediate attention and care that we were given, from the tour around the hotel to the delicious mojitos! The common areas of the hotel (pool, rooftop, bar) are beautiful. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast on the balcony was delicious and filling with fruit, eggs, sausage, and toast. Each person that worked at the hotel was kind and patient and we appreciated being able to leave our luggage for a night when we headed to the island.
- Nguyen (6/5): Clean and convenient but expensive - The location is good, central to most restaurants and shop within the walled city The pools were very small. Also, I was switched from Casa de Alba to their sister hotel Leones de Alba the day before my flight there. I booked 2 beds but in the new room, there was only 1 large bed and a small sofa open up to a single bed.
- Tara (6/5): Decent but not 5 star - It’s a great location and could be a delightful hotel with some modifications to amenities, cleanliness and hospitality. The night shift staff, Jason, was delightful. The hotel lacks the amenities and cleanliness of other caliber stays for this cost. The day reception, Charles, was not hospitable or kind. The breakfast was bland and boring. Value for money spent was not there. Most significantly improvements in the area of amenities and cleanliness are needed for this level of stay. Definitely not 5 star accommodations as listed.
- Mustafa (10/5): Magical stay in the center of Cartagena! - Exquisite and Exotic Decor with Amazing city views! Excellent Customer Service throughout the entire stay. Staff was welcoming, accommodating, and treated us like royalty. Property is located perfectly centered in the main district of Cartagena. Loft Style Room set-up for multiple guests- Would prefer single level.
- Shawn (10/5): An experience in a wonderful old building full of history - The property is more a home there are no signs or room numbers. The staff are amazing and always there. Each room is individually decorated and kept to a very high standard. This was my second visit and I will be back next year. Having to leave
- Maria (10/5): Fairytale - Feels like home. Located in the heart of walled city, has great history and beautiful architecture
- Catherine (10/5): This hotel exceeded my expectations - A very beautiful and intimate hotel. They offer a delicious breakfast. It is in a great location. My mom and I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The staff was fantastic! I would like to give Edwin a very special thank you! He is amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience while visiting Cartagena!
- Janell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (5/5): Wouldn’t go back. - The hotel is nicely located and has a historic feel to it! It’s overpriced- we stayed at another hotel in Cartagena afterwards (Casa Pestagua, which also has an amazing pool. The price there was slightly less but value for money is much higher. We felt that Casa de Alba needs some deep cleaning of the rooms and also some refurbishments (bathroom door couldn’t be closed eg). Also, breakfast wasn’t really tasty and one didn’t get to choose from a menu but only a fruit platter and some eggs. It’s complaining on a high level but value for money is simply not given.
- Dawn (7/5): Had a good time - Close to everything, breakfast was delicious and abundant A/C is inadequate
- Dominique (10/5): Had an excellent stay here - Aesthetically stunning, great sound barrier from the outside. Perfect location. AC works well.
- Gustavo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): - I stayed in room 11 at Casa De Alba for 9 nights in early September 2023. This was a great hotel with excellent staff and an awesome location. The staff went the extra mile helping me plan my days and navigate the streets of Cartegna. I really enjoyed the pool after a long day of adventuring. My only complaint is there is no hot water unless you ask for it. It was explained that the d city doesn’t have adequate water but I’m not sure if that’s true or not. I would stay here again.
- Soylamachera (3/5): Poor -
- Olivia (10/5): I would definitely stay here again - The breakfast was amazing and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The room smelled a little like dust
- Muhamet (8/5): - This is a 5* if all that counted is charm character, design, excellent location, and friendly helpful staff. 4* rating is mainly because it presents a number of practical challenges for those expecting your typical luxury / high-end business hotel. Biggest is the lack of phones in the rooms, so even for a cup of coffee, or simple question in the middle of the night you have to lug it down to the reception desk. Again, it’s a wonderful, 5* level property when it comes to charm, character, and design, but definitely not for those looking for more traditional 5* level amenities and services.
- Leobell (10/5): - Great location, the best is the staff working at the Hotel, they really make a difference. If I ever come back to Cartagena, Casa de Alba would be the place to stay.
- Ca’ron (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jose (5/5): Bad facilities and below average service - Location Hasn’t seen an investment in years. Pool lights didn’t work for instance. Waaaaaay too expensive for what it is.
- Sonya (10/5): - We had an amazing stay. This is a historical landmark, and as a result of it being a historical site, there are areas that are not air conditioned. But our room was kept cool and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to meet our every need. Breakfast was delicious. The location is safe and central.
- Shannon (8/5): Charming colonial boutique hotel with a lovely staff - The charming, storied colonial boutique hotel was beautifully appointed with seven rooms and multiple common spaces. Centrally located right across the street from the stunning Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandria, everything is in walking distance. A generous breakfast was served daily, with a variety of local fruits, eggs to your specifications, a sausage, and a starch (either yucca, plantains, etc.). There was a choice of a local fruit juice or orange juice as well as coffee/tea. I really loved the morning breakfast staff as they were so kind and accommodating. The second floor dining/ lounge room is gorgeously decorated, and there is a swimming pool on both the ground floor as well as on the roof. The air conditioner worked really, really well. Our check-in was a bit chaotic as we arrived early, with the butler on duty telling us it would be another 30 minutes until our room was ready, but in reality it turned out to be an additional 90 minutes. Also, our room was heavily scented by a luxury brand reed diffuser which smelled strongly of out of the box hair dye (L’Oréal Preference).
- Shala (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giovanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stefania (9/5): Nice colonial style and central location - The shared facilities are incredibly nice, nice colonial style, the internal and rooftop pools, the breakfast area. We wish we could have spent more time in the hotel.
The staff at the reception was very nice, did their best to accommodate our requests and gave pod recommendations.
The location is very central.
The kitchen staff was very flexible with the breakfast menu so we could choose different options from the standard one. They also helped me organize a special birthday breakfast for my boyfriend which was lovely. We had a room with two rather small beds which was not ideal for a couple. The suites are wonderful but a bit overpriced. We could hear noise in the morning as we were on the ground floor next to the pool.
Prices - both rooms and drinks - are quite high but it seems to be the same everywhere in Cartagena.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptionaly classy, gorgeous hotel - It was stunning and stylish and is so central
