Guest Reviews
- Brittany (10/5): - A bit dated but very clean. Exceptional value for the cost. Very friendly staff.
- Gary (10/5): - We always enjoy our stay while in Artesia. That's why we continue to pick this motel.
- Michael (2/5): Would never stay again. - Room was dirty. Literally had human fluids on one and human & dog hair on the other. I showed the gentleman at the front the photos, he mentioned it to a lady, confirmed he saw them and she starts yelling at me like I did something wrong. Requested new sheets and dude advised me he can check my out. All while far away from home and in town for a business event. Horrible experience. I didn’t even complain about the condition of the room. Just simply requested new bedding.
- Hilardo (10/5): - Owners were very friendly
I would recommend this to all my frirnds
- Joel (2/5): - Nothing to like and is not the are i reserve i reserved for new mexico carlsbad and send us to asteria 45 mins way not very happy
- Ivan (8/5): - These people are awesome the hotel is just old. Its super cheap and you get what you paid for. But the bed and room was clean and quite. There was one annoying light on the landing.
- James (10/5): - Pretty Quiet
- ameliza (6/5): Not bad for price we paid. - Room was generally clean except for the towels, I can't use as they don't look very clean. I found a tick on one bed, crawled on my arm, and a cockroach in the bathroom
- Raul (2/5): - I have been staying at this hotel for about 6 months on and off and the owner gidu has always been great. But this lat time he banned me because he said I bother to much just because I lost my key once and I take medications for depression and anxiety. And just recently they switched my pills. And I woke him up because it felt like someone was trying to open my door and I called the front office to see if he could check the. Cameras. And so to those two incidents he banned me and told me to check out and I’m not welcome no more. Never again will I recommend this place to anyone. It’s also weird how the three rooms he had put me in they all have little drill holes all in the same spots which looks and feels like someone is watching you.
- Ismael (4/5): - Na
- Angelica (4/5): - M
- Lonnie (2/5): - I didnt like how the manager asked for a deposit of $20 when i went to get my deposit back he got angry & was confused that i didn't pay $20 deposit so he gave me my deposit back & then told me I could no longer rent a room from Hacienda well ok i just didnt understand on why he told me that.
- Fernando (2/5): - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
EVERYTHING DIRTY, TOWELS, BED SHEETS, FLOOR, BATHROOM, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, DESCRIMINITVE , RACIST BUISNESS SHOULD EVERYTHING'S RIDICULOUS THERE, ESPECIALLY THE WAY THEY TREAT THEYRE CUSTOMERS!!!!!! SHAME ON YOU.
- Carlos (6/5): As expected - You get what you pay for
- Sarah (10/5): - Amazing staff
- Raul (10/5): - Great hospitality and friendly staff
- Raul (10/5): - The owner is super cool. A great man always attends your needs and takes your concern seriously. I always stay here when I go to visit my kids. Great hotel
- Robyn (6/5): - The beds were comfortable.
- Guadalupe (2/5): - As we open the door there were roaches, the floors were filthy and toilet didn’t work, front desk was uncooperative with issues. The only good thing I can say is they renovated all the outdoor to make it look inviting but there’s too many issues inside
- Juan (10/5): - Good
- Gary (10/5): - We enjoyed the stay. Wish there was coffee in the room. A Keurig with complimentary coffee would be a nice touch.
- Norbert (10/5): Right on the budget - Clean spacious room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice rooms good satellite
- Bret (8/5): - Very clean it might be outdated a little but bed was comfortable and room was clean
- Peter (10/5): - Property was a bit dated but it was clean the water pressure was excellent, plenty of hot water and the beds were very comfortable I’ll definitely stay here again
- Emily (2/5): - Didn't even go in the room or stay because of a broken window. Apparently no one stays to check in people full time, but thankfully after the worker drove back, we were refunded. No other place I've booked on Expedia has an additional $18 fee, and all the other prices listed for the places I've stayed were final.
- David (8/5): - Service
- Simon (10/5): - This was extremely clean hotel room. The only drawback and this is a real minor one was the lack of water pressure.
- Matt (10/5): - Clean rooms and good staff
- Aurora (10/5): - Super comfortable.
- Cristobal (8/5): For one nite no problem. - The Staff tries to do as good as they can be. The place is being worked on. For a tired traveler, one nite stand and at their rate is wonderful thing. Downside cable is poor, and the tub needs to be fix so it does not become slippery. The area is nice to visit all the folk are really nice and hardworking!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stay was ok. Floor was dirty. Pretty nice stay overall but service fee was absolutely ridiculous- fresh towels every day but they came for them really early in the morning Bed was very uncomfortable. Owner very sweet person. Would give it a better rating but with an additional 18 dollar fee per night you would think u would get something for the fee.. it’s like just a get more money out you.. it’s very insulting. If u drive 30 minutes longer you can get a cheaper room better quality and free breakfast!
- Victor L (4/5): - easy to get to
- Miguel or Melissa (10/5): Pretty Nifty - Great people run this hotel. They let me check in early and didn't charge for it. Everyone that stays there works. No problem would stay there again
- raullS491TS (2/5): You going to agree with me - I agree with other bad reviews and I am sure ,if you stay here for any reason you going to agree with my review like I agree with other reviews says do not stay here. Stay in car street under bridge not here people are rude and using bad lauguage no manners to any guest
- nd891 (2/5): Old very old - This property charge money like branded hotels in other town. Very small hotels no breakfast no customer service no smile just show my money grab your key and go sleep. Morning get out don't come back expressions . Try it and try your luck hope it's better than my luck .
- Brenda (10/5): Worth every pemney! - Like sleeping on a cloud! Excellent accomodations
- Verified traveler (2/5): - everything was extremly filthy and smelly an I do want a refund
- Dorsey (8/5): Value - Good room and nice large TV. Only issue was no cups in room and ice machine inoperable!
- runner24 (4/5): It could be a 3 star with a little work - The first thing that bothered me is the office is locked. You have to ring a bell and someone opens up a small single hung window that has a small shelf. I felt cheap and disagree with the owners who decided to set this up. I know about COVID, but I've stayed in many hotels over the last 6 weeks, all have separation and mask policies in place but nothing like this, it is cheap and insulting. We got into the room and it's fine, but we did have issues with other things.
The ice maker machine (down the hall) is broken. The clerk says, "yes it's broken, no ice", but he finally did break down and gave me an old fashion ice tray from somewhere in the office, which was nice. The exterior has an electrical receptacle that is a code violation. See photo. Hopefully, it's fixed before some kid sticks his finger in the box (I wonder how many more violations we could find). The parking lot is dirty and the landscape needs attention.
The room:
It has a 50" flat-screen TV. Nice.
We have 4 or 5 premium channels.
Microwave.
Fridge.
The room has WiFi that has a strong and SECURE signal.
The room is old and showing it's age but it's clean and the beds comfortable.
The AC window unit works, is clean but it's loud.
The little shampoo bottle, that they supplied, apparently was used as it's only half-filled. See photo.
Apparently, they rented the room directly above to a heal pounder. It's very loud and annoying.
THE ROOM DOES NOT HAVE:
Cups or glasses at the vanity. This is a first for me. I had to run out and find a Dollar Store for cups.
Iron or Board
Blowdryer.
- Queen (2/5): BAD SERVICE WILL NEVER STAY AGAIN - Hotel did not have any soap or towers hotel was not clean
and we was charge a additional $ 18.00 for cleaning' on out bill. But obviously there are no cleaning help. the TV did not work.
- Larry (2/5): Worms..... - Got there and went in to use the rest room, there were LITERALLY worms and a little poop in the toilet and the paper had something on it as well.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Beware. - There's an $18 dollar service fee not included in the Hotels.com price. I felt cheated.
- Marc (6/5): - Had two roaches in my room. Killed one in the bathtub but could not reach the other one.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay only if you don’t want to sleep outside. - Almost the worst stay you could imagine.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Did charge a miscellaneous fee of $18 that I actually call a ghost fee since nobody was able to explain its nature. I feel completely disappointed with Expedia for listing this property which is totally disgusting.
- lisafun2016 (10/5): Very quiet - The rooms were very clean, the person that checked me in was very friendly. Everything was quiet and if you needed something they were there to help. The price for the room was very reasonable and a good place to stay.
- Elliehancock4 (6/5): Slightly dodgy but our experience wasn’t awful. - We stayed here after visiting the Carlsbad caverns to avoid the prices of motels in Carlsbad city. The inn is in a rough looking area and some crackheads were standing outside smoking something when we arrived. At this points we had second thoughts about staying in Artesia rather than Carlsbad. However, once inside our room, our experience was fine. It was a clean room with very comfortable beds. Noise levels were fine- although the smell was a bit odd and some furniture looked like it was about to fall apart. The staff were particularly friendly. In short, I probably wouldn’t stay again but our experience wasn’t awful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Trashed out bugs in shower and out electrical outlets ice machine broke cash only in lobby ad 64.00 check in 90.00. Food delivery has 12- 16.00 min. NEVER GO THERE
- Jeff (2/5): Overpriced shit hotel - Bathroom smelled like sewer. Price quoted online was $96. Charged me $113
- Billy (6/5): It’s okay - Comfortable bed , pillows worn, decent inside room, filthy outside of motel
- Verified traveler (4/5): Mystery - The property is so old, small room, not cleaned, odor is strong, the fee was charged but worthless, I m never going back to this hotel.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They charge an $18.00 cleaning fee on top but the rooms are filthy and in poor repair. They also want you to sign a form stating they can charge you up to $200.00 if they find any damage. The room is already damaged so it leaves it open to interpretation as to what damage is yours, if any. Not the kind of pace I would ever stay in.
- Juanita (4/5): - The bed was old and had lumps in it. There was some kind of construction going on and the back wall was being taken down. I was a little leary about staying there alone but I had to go to work the next morning.
- Dee (8/5): - The front desk manager was friendly and personable. He was a very hard working man busy cleaning the hotel in the morning. The room was comfortable and had a nice bed. It is a simple no frills hotel.
- Ronald (8/5): Great hotel in a not so great town. Noisy guests. - Comfortable beds and good service. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Apparently the last non-smoking king bed room available had a broken toilet. Rather than not offer that room they offered it, then “upgraded” us to a 2-queen room. So my husband and I can choose between sleeping alone or being squished on a smaller bed? NOT an upgrade for our situation. Disappointing because we could’ve had that option for the same price at several places (some of which included breakfast, which this hotel does not.) and instead booked here for the king bed. Other than that, it was fine. What you’d expect for what we paid. The bed, although smaller than we wanted, was comfortable. 👍
- Alex (6/5): Alright - Good beds nice rooms just a little noisy expect to wake up a few times hearing the train pass by amd expect them to charge you a extra fee at check in for misc which is 18 dollars because the website told me 70 something I ended up dropping 96 so although it was alright I won't stay there again for that reason
- R8696WKanniec (2/5): Dishonest - We called and asked for a room and said we would arrive within 30 mins. We were quoted $73 including tax. When we arrived we were told a handicapped person arrived and the room wasn’t given away but we could stay in a different room for $103. There were 4 cars in the parking lot at 8:30 pm and we arrived within 10 mins of calling. When we asked for the original price to be honored and said we did not mind a different room the man refused. When asked if there was a manager he said he is the owner but would not honor the price he quoted 10 mins prior. He has the same last name of the owners of Budget Inn who has just charged us $18 more than our online reservation and his pens were all from budget inn. Don’t stay unless you want to be lied to an overcharged.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Last room in Artesia—be aware the oil industry takes all the rooms so plan early
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was very little hot water
- Jinfa (2/5): - worst place
- Laura (4/5): Disappointed - Small beds. Outdated and minimal decorating. Poor quality bedding.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was a lot of confusion when I tried to check in. The receptionist didnt know how to handle Expedia customers. The room had a wall airconditioner on the floor. There was an exposed electrical fixture in the bathroom! There was a short in the plug of the desk lamp. However, the bed was very comfortable! Most of the room had complimentary colors and was pretty. (There was also no coffee pot!)
- iness781 (6/5): Nothing else was available - The room was expensive for the quality. It was clean but the towels were with stains hard to remove, the water knob was switched between hot and cold. A meager breakfast that is kept in cupboards was offered to travelers. Bed was comfortable.
They had the only room available in the Carlsbad area since oil field workers are booking most of the rooms.
If you can help it, stay somewhere else for the same price.

- T8636LHangelg (8/5): Easy Access - I Stayed one night with on work. I found this place is very clean and looks like they spend some money to remodel this place. I feel comfortable since internet worked good, speedy for me. Bed seems special. When asked front desk told me they have gel mattress.
