- June (6/5): - The location was good . Nice hot shower. Comfy bed. Nice decor touches. Food available in the pub if you need it. Wouldn't recommend the small single room unless it's just for one night. Windows opaque so can't even see what the weather's like.. Bathroom area cold. Central heating boiler noisy during night although there's no central heating in the room just an electric radiator. You can feel the difference in temperature when you go out of the room into the corridor. A few little changes would also make the guests experience better.....needs hooks or a towel rail in the bathroom area. Change the kettle to one with a longer lead or one that has a base as it can't be used safely unless it's on the floor.. A bigger washbasin / taller tap or a small jug to help fill kettle.. Drawer space would be useful and a small shelf / cupboard at side of bed. All things that you don't realise are a problem unless you actually stay in the room . I appreciate I chose the cheapest room and you get what you pay for but a few tweaks would make a big difference.

- Barbara (7/5): On the whole we had a reasonable stay. - The location was great. The staff were very nice & helpful. The room we had was very clean & comfortable with a great seaview. The carvery on Sunday was quite nice but could have been a bit hotter. No food available in the evening. Breakfast wasn't very good. Some areas need refurbishing & updating.The stairs leading up to rooms needed cleaning & the door at the top needs replacing.

- Maxine (10/5): - The friendly staff, the beautiful room and excellent en suite with toiletries. An absolutely gorgeous sea view. Nice little touches like binoculars to see the sea view clearer. A bag hanging up with a hairdryer. Liked the idea of a key code to get into the hotel above the pub. The selection of teas, coffee and bottled water was excellent, I appreciate the biscoff biscuits !! I love the little quotes on the hallway noticeboard. Great value for money The cleaning was good but a few cobwebs on the ceiling. However it didn't bother me too much so didn't mention it but I'm sure if I had mentioned it, it would have been sorted I didn't like putting my credit card details on a form after paying by card but I understand it's a small venue and does have the facilities for storing credit card details.
- mark (5/5): You get what you pay for I suppose, but for me £70 a night is still a decent amount of money to part - Friendly staff, good sized room, sea view across the car park, parking easy, central location. Very cheap, good bath and shower. Dog friendly for an extra £10 a night. Stained carpets, Magnolia decor, dirty windows, bed very soft, pillows very thick and firm. I think it could do with a freshen-up. Music coming up from the pub if the window is open.

- les (4/5): unless you are on a mega budget don't bother - location good bar was ok and a car park over the road. very dirty they need to hire a cleaner, its old tired and dirty scum drunk couple argued at full volume from about midnight till 06:30 slamming doors the volume was unreal no staff there to have a word?? might have been better if one had killed the other i might have got a bit more sleep

- Rennocks (8/5): Nice relaxing break - Enjoyed our stay Lovely comfortable and clean rooms ,we had a Seaview, beautiful breakfast and very dog friendly, will definitely stay again The kitchen was closed for a refurbishment and Because we came midweek a lot of places weren't open or were closing early so would of liked to be able to eat in the pub which was our plan

Our room was basic but it was only a budget room and was acceptable for a one night stay, the access to the rooms is looking very teired and in need of redecorating.

- Carmel (5/5): Great location but only suitable for a short stay. - Great location. Lovely view of the sea. Lack of surfaces, hooks etc to place my items on. Four hangers only in a small item of furniture. Disappointed to find no toiletries in shower. Very noisy live music on Saturday night until 11pm which I did not know about before arrival. Two single beds did not join well together to make a comfortable double bed.

Macerator in bathroom causes temporary noise but can't be helped cus of plumbing restrictions with age of building (1700/1800s). Could do with a deep clean around the edges.

- Kim (5/5): Okay for one night to go to the theatre. - The location was excellent near the beach and theatre and close to amenities and shops. Room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Bedding and towels were clean. Plenty of hot water. Tea coffee and water and kettle provided. Carpet and windows very dirty. No mirror Leaking toilet Peeling wallpaper Damp smell No radiator in the bathroom Nowhere to sit apart from the bed

- linda (7/5): Pleasant, value for money hotel. - The staff were very friendly. Our room was nice and large with good sea views (number 3). There is now a beer garden to the rear which will be nice when fully completed. Breakfast a little basic but good Full English. The wardrobe was tiny, wouldn't shut with clothes in! Banging doors in the bar till closing. No hotel parking now there is a beer garden so you just park where you can.

When I arrived the staff were very friendly Room and bathroom were dirty. Obviously just change the sheets and towels between visitors. Nowhere to sit apart from the bed. For the price I paid didn't expect luxury but did expect it to be clean. Suggest this room needs decorating also asap

- Deborah (10/5): Fantastic hotel, friendly staff and excellent facilities - My husband and I received a friendly welcome from all staff on duty, the bar/restaurant had a nice vibe, and all facilities were freshly cleaned and comfortable. We were shown to our room which had an impressive sea view, the room and en suite was immaculate and very homely, the bed was comfy and we both slept very well. The following morning we were served a lovely breakfast and enjoyed chatting our host who again was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area and its history. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and cannot criticise a single thing. We were unable to have our evening meal at the hotel due to the kitchen being closed at 7pm

I appreciate low pressure but it was either burning hot or freezing so my children couldn’t shower during our stay. However, we still had a fab time!

- Keith (4/5): Bad experience - The bedding and towels were spotless. Our room, which was number 7 had two of the largest kitchen extractor fans so close to the window you could actually touch them!! The en suite was the smallest ever seen, the wash basin was what you would find in a downstairs loo, so small !! If a guy needed to wet shave good luck with that. Paint work tatty and ceiling needed the dust webs removing and a lick of paint put on. The tea/coffee tray was on shelf under the hanging area for clothes/coats the kettle was in need of a good clean out. Overall, the room was grubby and shabby. I did request another room but apparently they were full. The first impression of the establishment was the barman, what a miserable specimen of mankind, obviously not a people person. The ladies toilets were not to bad but the hand drier was a health hazard.

Quite a few stairs though..Bedding/Towel s clean and fresh ,bed comfortable. Had a single room,no 11 like a cupboard very poor thought out no clear glass window, filthy dirty, kettle could only reach plug on floor ,a curtain between toilet/shower to bed only and tv .on the plus side bedding/towels were fresh and clean ,no bedside table either.
