Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful. Good food and a convenient location
- Bill (8/5): - Their customer service is good!
Their spa facility is good!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is very welcoming, the food is excellent and the onsen is very relaxing
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff went out of their way. Meals were excellent.
- Ally (10/5): - Excellent hotel, traditional Japanese ones!!! We love it!
Staff were great, they tried their best to speak to us in English. Breakfast was traditional Japanese meal and loved it! Room was extremely clean and loved the Onsen....
25 minutes walk from Nikko train station and we did it couple time.... 10 minutes on the bus ¥310 pp. Highly recommend to everyone if you like Japanese traditional stuff!
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- J (8/5): - Very good for room, staff and onsen.
Local japanese style food isnt suit with me but its ok
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Hui (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel - We really appreciated the friendly front desk staff and all other servers at the hotel. The service was top-notch. The dinners and breakfasts were truly delicious and beautifully presented. Our room was very comfortable and the location was quiet yet relatively close to the famous shrines & temples at Nikko. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel if you were stopping by Nikko!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice hotel. Very clean and friendly. I recommend this warm place.
- Michael (10/5): Very good service and polite staff, good breakfast - All the staffs are very polite, have excellent services in this hotel. Very nice Japanese breakfast and the staffs will give introduction for all the dishes. Suggest to pre-book for the hotel dinner as nearby don't have any restaurant, need to take bus to train station nearby for dinner.
- Dmitrii (10/5): great Japanese style hotel - It's great place if you are looking for some Japanese experience: they have Japanese style room, hot spring bath and great breakfast. Hotel is a little bit far from Nikko center but 2 min to bus stop and in the nice quiet area.
- Sez (8/5): Relax and Refresh - Very welcoming and accommodating. We had a delicious dinner and cosy stay in our tatami room. In the morning, the onsen was perfect under the autumn trees before we left to explore Nikko. The hotel is very close to a bus stop, and therefore quick to get to the sites. You can also catch a bus the opposite way over to the lake and hiking spots.
- Family travelo (10/5): Great dinner and breakfast, nice onsen, clean! - The staff was very nice. Location was good and convenient. The room was decent size and clean. The meals (dinner and breakfast, both included in the price) were fantastic! I would definitely recommend to others!
- Sandro (10/5): - Amazing place. Very comfortable. The owners and staff are great caring people.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Experience - The best part of the stay was the staff and the food. The meals were so delicious and in a Japanese tradition. My daughter loved this experience the best in Japan. The staff was so delightful and helpful. The town is a little far but we walked into the town but not the entire way since it was downhill going into town and uphill coming back. We enjoyed that the bus station was close by and the World Heritage was within walking distance too.
- Cindy (10/5): Great ryokan experience - Nikko Green is a lovely ryokan with excellent staff who are very kind and helpful throughout stay. The hotel is a bit dated, and it shows, but it doesn't detract from the overall experience. The food here is absolutely excellent. Had the half board with the kaiseki dinner and breakfast and it was phenomenal. My room was very comfortable and spacious and the the hot spring baths are very relaxing (just a heads up that it is not natural hot spring water from the mountains). Highly recommend staying at this hotel for an authentic experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location that is it - The hotel is small and very outdated. The dinner was not good at all ( I am Japanese) but the breakfast was okay. The hot springs was small but okay. The location is great. It is located near Toshogun, 15 minutes walk.
- Joseph (10/5): Joseph in Nikko. - Superior stay. One of my favorite during travel. Authentic experience of Japanese hotel excellent service and accommodations. The best on this trip.
- Andres (8/5): Mostly pretty good - Overall a pleasant stay. Onsen isn't natural by any means, but still relaxing. Place was clean, but could use some updating and/or better materials (i.e. the laminate was peeling off the sink in our room). We were a little turned off when they wanted to charge us for 2 glasses worth of ice. Seems petty and doesn't set a good tone for a place that is supposed to pride itself on their service. The pillows were cheap foam ones (instead of the nicer buckwheat-hull pillows I've seen at other places), but we both still slept pretty well.
- GnS (10/5): Lovely Japanese-style room in great location - Staff unbelievably friendly, anxious to please. Lovely room, onsens. Superb multi-course dinner offered.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and great stay - Stay is awesome and enjoyable. The staff are able to remember our preferences. Free shuttle service to the train stations are provided. Enjoy the dinner and breakfast, the spread is good
- Songporn (10/5): Great onsen indoor and outdoor here - I love to stay here and I will back to stay again! I love onsen here. Its so relexed. I like massager chair and feet. After walking all day, just feel refresh and relex
- R (8/5): Ryokan with onsen in the hills - The place is quite a distance from downtown. Short walk to the bus stops, however the bus frequency is quite low in Nikko. the onsen was nice, they have outdoors as well as indoors onsen- no view though. The food (if you think you might need to eat at the hotel, needs to be booked ahead of time- can't do ad hoc). Pick up at the station likewise needs to be arranged ahead of time and is limited to certain hours. If you have light luggage, can take the bus to stop 12 and walk uphill to the hotel.
- Daniel (10/5): Traditional Japanese Ryokan and Onsen-Great Value! - The service at the hotel is fantastic. The staff is ALWAYS attentive and very welcoming. When we arrived they served us tea while they checked us in. When we checked out we had forgotten a phone charger in the room, which they found and brought down to include with our checked luggage.
This is a traditional Japanese ryokan, which generally includes dinner, breakfast, and free access to the traditional japanese baths. The baths here are not fed by a natural hot spring as far as I could tell, but they are very pleasant, and include both indoor pools and outdoor pools, separated for men and women.
Highly recommend.
- Shanti (8/5): - Loved the place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Attentive staff - I called the hotel to get picked up near the Toshogu Shrine and the vehicle came immediately. Reaching the ryokan we were greeted by staff and given a detailed explanation about everything we needed to know. The facilities are a little dated but our room was comfortable enough. The onsen was nice - there is an outdoor bath to relax in as well as the one indoors.
- EL (10/5): Cool little Ryokan - If you are looking for a ryokan experience, go for the half board as the Kaiseki course is definitely a highlight. Nice outdoor and indoor onsen. Friendly staff. Would come back again :)
- Nichola (10/5): It was absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended! - All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. They were very welcoming to us and patient with my basic Japanese. It was a very authentic and traditional experience made all the more special by the great staff.
- Kiwi (10/5): A difficult place to leave! Absolutely brilliant! - We were graciously greeted at the door by a welcome sign and warm staff! We gave our names and then were seated with a warm hand towel and hot tea to drink while we signed in. We were shown to our beautiful, spacious room and settled in quickly. An extra tall robe was fetched right away.
We relaxed immediately. Within five minutes we were at the table by the window drinking hot green tea and soaking up the gorgeous view. Then we had the first of many onsens! They had a wonderful selection of toiletries. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were small but lovely. The sauna was teeny but the window made it more pleasant than most saunas!
We had the multi-course dinner and it was superb! There were so many incredible dishes both unique to the region and more traditional Japanese style. It was all exquisite and magnificently presented. We had a delicious Nikko Beer to start and then drank nihonshuu (sake) which complimented the meal wonderfully.
Staff laid out our futons while we were at dinner which was fantastic. We had another onsen after dinner and then relaxed in our room. It was one of the best nights I have ever spent in a hotel and we slept incredibly well.
Breakfast in the morning was another divine array of dishes and the view was lovely, too. A fabulous way to start the day.
The staff were all so kind, friendly and attentive. A driver kindly dropped us off at the station. The only tough part of the stay was leaving! Already looking forward to our next visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing food - Amazing bath, dinner, and breakfast. Great service and clean room.
- Ashley (10/5): Great Japanese experience - A great hotel with friendly staff. Free onsens and massage chair. Meals were awesome
- Thomas (10/5): Perfect for Nikko - Hotel blended into the area both culturally and historically. The service and food was great and all of the staff friendly and ready to serve.
- Andy (10/5): Best Hotel in Japan! - I can't say enough good things about this place - the traditional rooms are amazing, the facilities phenomenal, the location is great (next to Nikkos best kept secret temple!) and the staff couldnt do enough for us! We traveled with young kids (4 and 11 months) and they were made to feel like royalty!!
I would go back to Nikko in a heartbeat (disappointingly a lot of the temples are being renovated until 2017 so you cant see much) and wouldnt stay anywhere else - best hotel in 2 weeks in Japan!
- Megan (10/5): - Japanese hotel. AC worked well. Sleeping mats were thick and comefortable.
- Jim (10/5): Nestled in Nature - We were greeted personally with staff and with our name prominently shown at the entrance. Staff was extremely helpful and attentive, albeit with limited English capability. Windows in our room open into a serene nature with sound of a running brook.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed the onsen and traditional breakfast.
- Christina (10/5): Great stay! - We absolutely loved our room. It was a Japanese style family room. We really got a lot for our money. As a plus it overlooked the forest. Upon arrival our name was posted as a welcome. The host showed us around and explained the etiquette and was very welcomibg. The onsen was lovely with an outdoor and indoor pools. The futons were comfy. I didn't expect the futon covers, but perhaps that's everywhere at Ryokans. There were alot of nice details that management had covered. Hot tea upon arrival, rice cookies, they switched out our yukata so it would fit, the tour and instructions. The onsen and private bathroom had all the products we would want. We ordered the breakfast, not the dinner. It was very nice and very authentic. I'm 5 months pregnant so even with my picky senses the food was pleasing and fresh. The location is fine but requires one to think and minimally plan. There is a bus that regularly operates from the station during the daytime. The stop to take is the Imperial Palace, which is a historical Japanese palace right down the road from the hotel. We also got a taxi for about $10USD. Coming from the hotel, you can either take the bus or just walk down the road to the shrines. At night in Nikko, at least on a weekday, food options were limited after 6pm, and buses less, so eating at the Ryokan is probably a good idea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice ryoukan near temples - convenient place to visit the temples. Very friendly staff and the onsen is great.
Had a japanese style room with a great view on the river. Looked freshly renovated
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing. Amazing onsen. Amazing food. - Amazing. Amazing onsen. Amazing food. Great experience. Would come back again. A little outdated but for the price it cannnnnot be beat.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place and awsome location - Love the place, a Japanese experinece for visitors. Great Onsen
- Kira (10/5): Great experience! - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Ryokan experience was wonderful. Onsen was clean and we had it to ourselves. I highly recommend this hotel.
