Michael (5/5): Mediocre hotel, goood location and clean, but feels like Hilton have forgotten about it. - Good location, right next to the stadium and Olympic sized pool Lot of young inattentive staff, sat waiting ages to be served and to get bill. Nothing in mini bar, no water, nothing. Booking.com messed up my booking and one of the party who arrived late had to travel to Newcastle as they hadn’t reserved his room, rather than smooth it over they hung up on me. Breakfast was ok, pastries were like leather, doubt I’d book again but if you are going for football it’s perfect.

Reception and bar area lovely and clean! The rooms weren’t great. There was an odour as soon as we walked into the room. The mattress made a noise as soon as you sat on it, the carpet had dirty stains and there was mould building up at the windows due to ZERO ventilation. I understand it’s high up so windows could be dangerous but there should be vents in the windows or small windows you can open at the top. Especially seeing as though you allow for pets there definitely should be ventilation! We stayed in room 232

If i had to nit pick i'd say, the room was chilly when we arrived in the evening. By the time we came back to the room after dinner, it was lovely and toastie.

I stayed in a king room last yr which was fabulous. However the Queen this time round was hard, noisy and not the comfiest. The pillows and quilt was spot in though.

TAMAS (10/5): Returning for the 4th time and can't wait for the 5th one hopefully soon ! - This was our 4th visit in Sun'lun, all the 4 times staying in this hotel, so knew what to expect: Kind staff, lovely restaurant, comfy room (this time one, that looks to the Stadium - thanks !!), great location and great Northeastern hospitality. Nothing - should anyone have any problems, feel free to ask any of the staff members to help and they will do all they can to solve your problem.

Christopher (4/5): Very poor, not what I would expect from a Hilton hotel, it’s basically a really poor travellodge - Not a lot really Very outdated, fixtures and fittings really poor, stained carpets, bath with no plug, car park not signposted had to go in and ask where you park a car, very little staff, had to go and find someone at reception to serve at the bar, then I was almost forced to pay £15 extra for breakfast that I had already paid for, still pushed me to pay it even after showing them my receipt. To sum it up, it was essentially a very poor travellodge, this is far from what I expected from a Hilton hotel, I feel ripped off for what I paid and what I received in return

Only 2 teabags, breakfast tea, no coffee or herbal tea in the room each day. Poor for the room price.

RICHARD (10/5): I was very pleased to have found this hotel, and I would be happy to stay again in the future. - I had travelled to Sunderland to watch a football “Away” game. From that point of view, the location was ideal… adjacent to the stadium. It was an easy walk into the town centre. There was plenty of parking, which was also very good value. The hotel and the room were clean and comfortable.

Lindsey (8/5): Great location, comfortable stay - We liked the location, it was within walking distance to the city centre, The room was spacious clean, the beds very comfy we had 2 singles which felt more like small doubles The breakfast had a good selection of hot cooked foods, we were told we could have different eggs upon request, there was a good continental selection, yogurt, fruit, pastries, yiu could even make your own waffles We would return, ot was good value for money We only got 2 teabags in the room, we did go to the bar to request more on the evening, it would have been nice to have enough for arrival, evening abd morning There was no fruit or herbal teas in the room, my daughter who I travelled with has a dairy intolerance so would usually go for a fruit/herbal tea
