À faire absolument : la visite de la partie historique de l’hôtel (les 100 marches), qui apporte encore plus de charme au lieu. Je regrette de n’avoir pas choisi une chambre japonaise pour un séjour encore plus typique. Ce lieu est un site très apprécié de Miyazaki et nous l’avions découvert lors de notre visite du musée Ghibli en 2019. Ravis d’avoir pu y séjourner cette année. RAS

Radhi (10/5): Perfect Family Stay at Hotel Gajoen Tokyo - Hotel Gajoen Tokyo was a 10/10 gem for our 9 day stay. The service was stellar—staff were warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. The concierge team shone, arranging private drivers from Haneda Airport, to Tokyo Disneyland, and to Yokohama’s cruise terminal. We gave the wrong Disney pickup time, but they fixed it instantly, no hassle. Our suite was spotless, with a cozy Japanese vibe and a steam sauna we all loved. Breakfast was a hit: my daughter devoured the eggs and rice, while we savored the Japanese set—fresh fish, miso, and perfect rice. The hotel’s Showa-era art and garden added magic. Cleanliness was flawless, and the staff’s care, from quick housekeeping to thoughtful touches, made it special. It’s a place where luxury meets heart, perfect for families. We can’t wait to return!

Coolhaas (10/5): Beautiful hotel with exceptional and attentive staff - This hotel was a very welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and felt like stepping into paradise after a 16 hour flight and a two hour tube journey. It was a little far from the real centre and there weren’t many restaurants or shops nearby.

A fan to cool off, handmade cookies from local artisans, a simple piece of origami—these little gestures tell a much bigger story about hospitality, culture, and tradition. We found out the hotel will be closing soon for renovations, and that makes this visit feel even more special. It’s a quiet reminder to slow down, appreciate the moment, and honor the spaces that hold history. Feeling really grateful to be here. Oh shout out to the shuttle driver Alex - great conversations were had - such an energetic and optimistic person!

Get the executive plan to enjoy the amazing lounge offerings. The hotel is a short walk to the Yamamoto line and 1-2 stops from all the main tourist sites. Meguro is a beautiful quiet neighborhood on the river with many restaurants and shops with more of a local and non-touristy vibe. 10/10 look forward to staying again. Nothing

Ellis (10/5): Amazing stay! - Everything was brilliant. It was so worth it for us to include breakfast - so many choices. Property was spotless. Wonderful staff. Beautiful hotel. Very close to Meguro station, which is on the Yamanote line, so very easy to reach other areas. Steam room was a lovely extra. I'd stay again in a heartbeat. Not so much an issue with the hotel but - very steep hill leading to the hotel which is a bit difficult with luggage. Again, very short journey between the station and the hotel, so this did not present a massive issue for us. The hotel does have a bus running from the hotel to the station but within specific hours.

nicholasmD4097DQ (10/5): Luxurious Cultural Experience - I booked a Luxury room as a Hilton Diamond member. No upgrade however I was not aware at booking that there is an executive lounge and access was honored. This was my first experience at an SLH since the partnership with Hilton commenced. The room itself was very spacious! I did not do any pre-arrival research and was pleasantly surprised by the 70 sq meter room. I was on the south side of the building and had a view of the small nearby river and cityscape. There was a large living room area with walk-in closet and. I would consider such a room a suite at any upscale hotel in Tokyo. I was also not prepared for a private whirlpool and steam sauna in the bathroom. With about 30 minutes of preparation time I had a private sauna experience which was a first for me. While one may come to Japan looking for an onsen experience this sort of amenity goes above and beyond that. The hotel itself was also very spacious with lots of beautiful Japanese-inspired design and restaurant options. I had heard this place was often chosen for weddings and saw a couple taking pictures on the one night I was there. There was a really nice small garden with waterfall in the central area which was quite remarkable. The hotel is located southwest of Meguro Station and while it is a relatively short walk you do have to go up and down a hill which may not be great for those with luggage or those less ambulatory. The hotel actually has a free shuttle to Meguro Station and also goes to Shinagawa Station three times in the afternoon. I have included a picture of the information. The Meguro shuttle stop is actually on the east side of the station. I checked out the executive lounge on the eighth floor during cocktail hour. It was a very good sized lounge with plenty of tables to accommodate guests. The drink options were good and there were some really delicious snack options such as miso-infused cheese. That said, there was an imbalance in food offered to guest ratio as anything desirable was quickly scooped up as it was laid out. A delicious snack but nothing more than that as the seeming kitchen capacity and the other sharks in the water keep this from being a light meal. I also had breakfast at Kanade Terrace on the first floor. While other hotels tend to have a balance between Western and Japanese options, the breakfast here skewed slightly more Japanese as one might expect of this type of hotel. That said, on the morning I went they also had carved roast beef. This is quite a luxurious option that I have only seen normally offered at the Conrad Osaka. Overall I had a really pleasant and great new experience. It was nice to experience this hotel, an SLH property, and it is good to see Hilton add a lifestyle type property to its Tokyo portfolio.

What truly stood out was the exceptional and outstanding customer service – every interaction was warm, attentive, and professional. I also took the hotel tour and was fascinated by its rich heritage, which is beautifully preserved throughout the property. It feels like stepping into a living museum. I will definitely return for a longer stay next time to enjoy even more of what this unique hotel has to offer.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, we especially loved the city views and the turn-down service every night. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was delicious. We found the location to be convenient and we liked that it was in the city but not in the insanely busy areas like Shinjuku/Shibuya which were a bit overwhelming! We were sad to leave!
amybC4200CA (6/5): Nice but ruined by rude staff member. - I went to this hotel yesterday (20/4/2025), as I had heard about its amazing interior and was curious, as I had been considering it for a future trip to Tokyo with family. After 20 minutes of exploring I decided to have a break with a coffee and cake from their Kanada Terrace Grill. It was empty except for about four tables, so I approached the front desk where the woman quite literally looked me up and down- like very obviously. I was shocked but asked for a table for coffee (as others were doing this too, not just food). She told me it was reservation only- didn’t even ask if i had one! I walked away a little confused, but then as i passed the restaurant I asked a waiter if the cafe was reservation only and he said no! I asked if i could have a table and he took me straight to a great table and I ordered a coffee. Clearly the first staff member had lied and she had decided I was not good enough to go in there! I was smartly dressed in a dress and shirt but what i had on should not have mattered (i later noticed one family were wearing shorts and t-shirt so clearly it wasn’t a dress code issue). Very rude and put me off going back and won’t book a stay there now. Must say other staff were lovely but I have never been made to feel like this in a 5 star hotel before so would not recommend.
Caroline (10/5): Wonderful experience - We loved everything about this hotel. The hotel staff are amazing from start to finish. We had the Japanese style room which was a joy to stay in, it had a separate sitting room with traditional seating area, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom had a jet bath, shower and sauna. The toilet was totally separate to the bathroom. We had a garden on our balcony. Really recommend this experience. Do the hotel art tour. You see closed off parts of the hotel and the historic art pieces as well as the banquet and wedding ceremony rooms with a fantastic tour guide. Great breakfast with the most variety I've seen in any hotel in Japan. We ate at the cafe and Chinese restaurant, the atmosphere and food was wonderful.

It is next to the Meguro train station which makes it very easy to travel to Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc. The hotel is right next to the Meguro river with cherry blossom trees throughout the location. Vi hadde et 80 m2 rom med to store senger. Eget steamrom og stort badekar på badet. Eget lite kjøkken, for de som ønsker å benytte seg av det. Vi deltok på matcha-seremoni og kalligrafitime i regi av hotellet, men de tilbyr også mange andre aktiviteter. Anvefaler på det nærmeste!

From my first visit to Tokyo - Amazing hotel, beautiful interiors both on the ground floor and in the suites. Great views from the rooms. Nice big bathrooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Only tiny things: the shower head in the bathroom should be cleaned of limescale more often - it would improve the water pressure. The coffee at breakfast was not the best.

WorldTravelerCO (10/5): Wonderful Customer Service - Our family of three, including our 14 year old daughter, recently enjoyed three nights here. The staff was so helpful and friendly from the time we booked to check out. The breakfast options were vast and our room was well appointed. Something that really stands out.... our flight out of Denver was cancelled and we were rebooked for the following day. This caused us to miss our first night at the hotel. I emailed the hotel to let them know to please not give away our room, that we would be coming and they (without me asking) updated our reservation to remove the first night. They absolutely did not have to do this and we would've paid for that night as agreed when we booked. The hotel understanding that the situation was out of our control and not making us pay for that night really made us feel cared for before we even arrived. We would absolutely stay here on a future visit to Tokyo!
Sarah (10/5): Lovely hotel where I would love to stay again - We loved our stay at Gajoen. We arrived very early and were able to leave our luggage very easily which was then delivered to our room upon check-in. The staff was so courteous and nice to us, we felt very well taken care off. The room itself was lovely. Spacious and comfortable. For our first night in Tokyo after a long flight it was great to sleep in the very comfy bed. The bathroom was the star however. The jet bathtub had a beautiful view of the city and the steam sauna was great to use. Complimentary skin care products were also provided so we had a spa night. The breakfast in the morning was lovely. So many foods to try, both hot and cold and from many cuisines, both Asian and western. It set us up for the whole day. The hotel itself is beautiful and worth a visit on its own. The waterfall is spectacular and the art all around the hotel is lovely to look at. Some mornings they have an art tour of the hotel, and I highly recommend going on one if you stay at the hotel and they have them in the morning. It was very interesting and you got to see areas and art in the hotel you wouldn't have otherwise. It's in a quite area but easy to get to from Meguro station and then you have the Meguro River close by that you can walk by which has loads of cherry blossom trees. They weren’t in bloom when we were there but could definitely see the potential. Also, a good walk up the river you have the Naka Meguro area, Ebisu and Daikanyama were you have lots of cool restaurants, shops and bars. I can also recommend the Metropolitan Teien Art Museum which is close and has a beautiful garden, not to mention the house and exhibitions themselves. I have no complaints and would love to stay again

michaeljinnyc (4/5): Good value but that’s it - The hotel isn’t really luxury and is also a tourist attraction. The rooms definitely are. Even the smallest is close to 1,000 sq.ft. Other services are not as good as other luxury hotels in Tokyo and not really present. The hotel is large but only has rooms on three stories of 60 rooms. Overnight guests are not their priority. There are no amenities other than the executive lounge which still confuses me and the shared gym in the adjacent office building. Some guests get to use it while others don t. There are no executive lounge options on any booking sites and even the lowest cat rooms are called executive suites so I thought is was accessible to everyone anyone familar welcome to add to this. I’ve read some reviews that say they grant automatic lounge access to any Japanese guests?! The lobby looks great but the long walk to the room ’s one of the biggest downsides here. Takes god knows how long and constantly feels like a convention center. Location was well out of the way for any major areas and is on a steep hill. Mediocre breakfast and bad bellhop service. And if you don’t mind the retro bathroom, this is of phenomenal value.

The service is impeccable. The staff even went an extra mile to make our stay memorable by doing something special for our 30th wedding anniversary. They were very accommodating and helpful in every way. We would definitely stay at this hotel again on our next trip to Tokyo.

Easy access to Meguro station via the adjoining Arcot tower and central Tokyo Shibuya, Shinjuku etc are only a few stops away on the Yamonote line. Shinagawa station is a few stops the other way giving easy access to Shinkansen and Narita express etc. Enjoyed the executive lounge. Perfect stay for us, we loved the hotel and the location and would definitely stay here again.

evasY5390KP (10/5): Highlight of my trip! - Staying at Meguro Gajoen was the highlight of my trip. The hotel breakfast was delicious, and the balcony overlooking koi fish and waterfalls gave a sense of Japanese elegance. There’s also a shuttle bus from Meguro Station, which made getting there very convenient. Climbing the steep hill would have been quite tough otherwise!

Christopher (10/5): Wonderful! If I visit Tokyo again, I will definitely stay here again. - The location is very convenient. It’s just a 5 minute walk from the Meguro station. The hotel is located right next to the Meguro river so your morning runs are convenient and picturesque. The hotel is beautifully decorated. With 2500 antique crafts and ornaments, it is like staying in a museum! The hotel tour itself takes 90 minutes. The rooms are huge. For Tokyo standards, you’ll be hard pressed to find another hotel with such spacious rooms The hotel doesn’t have its own gym, but you can use a fitness centre nearby for free. But this is just a minor inconvenience.
