Guest Reviews
- Destyne (4/5): - I fell in the shower on Sunday September 21st 2025 at 12:30am. The shower did not have any grip or anti slip devices on the bottom and i had almost fallen several times over our 3 night stay. The fall resulted in me breaking my arm. When contacting the property about a refund and canceling a future stay i was told that the owners do not show up on property in the off season so i likely would not get to speak with them about a refund. After receiving this information from the staff there i am deciding to reach out to a lawyer to see about restitution. Stay here at your own risk, especially during the off season.
- Robert (8/5): - friendly staff clean room
- Colleen (2/5): - This motel has made me very nervous to book online motels. The room was clean, but the blinds were broken and people walking by could see in your room. You had to look very close to see the room was actually clean as it absolutely needs a remodel. There was only a sheet on top of the bed, nothing but the gross bedspread to cover yourself while sleeping.
I did ask the office for a sheet and they provided, so I could use that while sleeping.
To be fair this is a place frequented by young kids going to party so any upgrades may not have a good RTO.
Personally, not for me and my family but the location is SO good.
- Beth (6/5): - You get what you pay for. It was a cheap rate and all we were doing was just sleeping there so it was fine. Needs major repairs to rooms. When checking in and out had to wait a long time for someone to come to the office. It is close to the beach and boardwalk.
- Casey (8/5): - Pool was clean but small. The view is the back of another hotel. Check in is at another hotel. Room is dated but decent. Great location. Parking is tight.
- Virginia (4/5): - Very dirty
- Laura (6/5): - Excellent staff.
- Amy (2/5): -
The most embarrassing and offensive experience ever. I gave this place a great prior. We booked A weekend for husband's 50th surprise meanwhile already checked in through expedia.com conf# only because my last name fyi got married photo to reservation name match but my card that I used was my previous last name didn't match u had someone knock on our door to check out then we left came bk to our room and you locked us out because of a last name! Room again fully paid for is extremely offensive to us felt like this establishment is racist against white women that are capable, will never recommend this place
- Ramona (6/5): - The staff was great however, the one bed in the room was broke. They had to come in and fix it. The room was OK.
- Ashley (10/5): - It is a beach town feel and not updated but the bed was super comfortable, clean had a microwave and mini fridge. Staff are super friendly and the pool is so nice to have if you dont want to go to the beach. Plus free parking fcfs. I love it and would be back.
- Kisha (6/5): Satisfied - Our stays have always been pleasant.
- catherine (10/5): - I love that I had 2 pools to go in.
- Mike (10/5): - As described, much nicer than the previous properties i stayed at
- Monica (8/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Diane (6/5): - It was close to the beach. The bed was comfortable, and the room looked clean. The odor in the room was really bad. It smelled like years of urine on the floor.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The advantage of staying here was it was so close to boardwalk and beach. The place needs to be updated. It was not very clean.
- Sara (2/5): - Bed bugs & filthy rooms
- CHUNG (6/5): - Staff are friendly but the room is old
- Jeong (2/5): - I never go there again
- david (2/5): - The staff was good. The room was old and the shower was shaking and faucets hanging out of the wall. The door was not safe . It could of been pushed in. It was only a block from the beach so if thats all you are looking for.
- Radoslaw (8/5): - My 2nd time here and will return
- Tamarachante (6/5): - The motel was not newly renovated. The bedding was very old. The bathroom shower curtains are stained with black spots. THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE ! Place needs to be renovated badly.
- Dan (10/5): - Good
- Radoslaw (8/5): - Totally OK
- Maribel (6/5): - The bathroom has mold in the ceiling. The bed was uneven, the blinds were broken. The outside looks nice, but they need to upgrade their rooms.
- eddsson (10/5): - Great place to stay as always. Always clean and friendly staff
- Andrew (6/5): - for the price, it wasn't bad. great location and close to the boardwalk. not as bad as some of the other reviews. cheap price gets a cheap motel. about what i expected
- Jen (2/5): - The motel is very dirty.
- Jermaine (2/5): Don’t stay here - Hotel and staff are just unacceptable. Rooms smelled of mold and the management charged different prices than what was told.
- Jermaine (2/5): - Rude management and disrespectful workers.
- Kelly (10/5): - Man at front desk very nice !
- Jennifer (10/5): - I went here with my daughter. It was convenient to the beach, safe, quiet, and reasonably priced.
- Patrick (4/5): - It was the black mold on the shower curtain that just did it in for me
- eddsson (10/5): - Never an issue when I stay here
- eddsson (10/5): Amazing setvice - My stay was excellent like always . CR is amazing everything is always clean
- eddsson (10/5): - My favorite place to stay in seaside
- eddsson (10/5): - I don’t have any complaints . Rooms are big the beds are comfortable
- eddsson (10/5): - The staff that clean are always nice and courteous
- Driftin (10/5): - Ended up not making it because of car trouble. But the app had us for a 2:00 check-in and the manager was very helpful having a later check in before the car trouble even began.
- Jackeline (2/5): - Do not stay here!!!! The room smelled like piss and the bathroom was leaking from the ceiling. When asked if they could change my room they said they had no availability and handed me a mop and some air freshener mask the smell there were flies in the room and people outside til 5 am partying! Horrible place to stay and almost 300 a night for this dump is crazy!!!!! Stay away!
- Jhancarlos (10/5): - Staff was great. Clean room.
- Roberto (10/5): - It nice room and the staff was really friendly and helpful
- Jonnie (6/5): - Bathroom was a little dirty
- sharon (2/5): - I spent 3.5 hrs trying to get a refund. This hotel should be condemned. I cannot believe Expedia promotes this hotel. Completely unsafe and unsanitary. Went through 5 rooms and still was gross. False advertising with nice pictures. Would've left but had 3 children and no where else to go. Stains on sheets, black mold in shower and bathroom, broken doors to bathroom and main door, reeked of cigarette smoke, manager was high and smelled of marijuana, no hot water in shower. Expedia was completely unhelpful in resolving solution to an acceptable manor.
- kayla (2/5): - Office was closed. So i checked in at the hotel next door. They gave me a key to a dirty room, clearly they didnt have the 2nd key because it was in the room. So i went back and asked for a clean room. Theres a pringle wrapper in the peep hole, blood on the wall, gross beds and someone put a walmart bag on the smoke detector. Unsafe isnt even the word. Nasry
- Karla B (10/5): - I’m going to be honest it’s not a family motel it’s more of highschool/college students partying, which made it amazing when I stayed not really the best but worth the money
- Carlos (8/5): - They need to invest in remodeling all their property.
- James (10/5): - Thank you! My best experience in Seaside.
- Michael (4/5): - Well, not the worst place I've ever been. That's about as positive as I can get here, though. Wait, another positive -- the bed wasn't crawling with bedbugs like other reviewers have mentioned.
That's because they were all dead and the bug carcasses were just lying on the sheets.
How about a cheap $10 rolling desk chair in the room as the only seat, but with one of the legs broken off?
Or beds that have only bottom sheets and dust covers, and nothing else?
Or a toilet that's so low to the ground, it was probably made for an elementary school?
No support under one side of the shower/tub, so it feels like you're about to break through to the lower room?
I guess you get what you pay for. Also, very noisy full-time residents.
The office for the complex is closed and being used as a bedroom by someone. So, you have to walk to the neighboring one to check in and out.
I could actually keep going on and on, but somehow, this WASN'T the worst place I've ever stayed in, so I'll skip telling you about the off-season pool filled with garbage and crime scene tape, or the permeating odor of cigarette smoke that probably will never leave my jacket. And yet, there's more.
I'll just say it's not recommended.
- Nico (10/5): - Great place
- Ciera (10/5): - Overall me and my boyfriend had a great stay
- Julio (8/5): - Not the worst hotel. Comfy beds. Hot showers and no bedbugs. Stumbling distance from the bars. All good in my book!
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic for the price - For the price, this is a great hotel. There are no frills, so don't expect anything amazing but again for the price this is a great hotel. Beds are comfortable, you get a small fridge and a microwave and plenty of room. On top of that, you are walking distance to great restaurants and the boardwalk which also has some things open (it was winter when I stayed and VERY windy and cold). Anyone who does not give this hotel a good rating is expecting the Taj Mahal for dollar store rates. I will be going back in a few weeks for mandatory vacation my job has me taking.
- Cary (8/5): - A good price for the location. Decent room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything has been resolved, the stay was wonderful.
- Ana (6/5): - Hello, I’m still waiting on a manager to contact me regarding the person at the Front Desk. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Going Good!
- SHAWN (4/5): - This hotel is old, dilapidated, and in need of updates and remodeling.
- Arthur (10/5): - Over all the Sea Gem is a very quiet, friendly, stay. Would stay again, and recommend to others.
- Valerie (8/5): - Property was walkable to beach and places to eat. We could keep car parked and go to beach and board walk.
- Shawn (8/5): - Great hotel for the price walking distance from Boardwalk friendly staff
- Joseph (6/5): Fair room good for sleeping. - The room was a good size. The bathroom did not look very clean. The shower temperatures were hard to adjust. The outlets are all at about 6 ft in the air which makes it a little difficult to plug things into it. The door to the room constantly stuck, and in order to get it to close you had to play with the bolt lock each time you open the door.
- Michael (8/5): - Was a good stay that got cut short unfortunately. Was comfortable throughout and is someplace I’d stay again
- Katie (2/5): 🚫🚩 - Disgusting, hair all over the room, extremely dirty, the man cleaning the rooms made me extremely uncomfortable when trying to hand the key back upon checkout, LOCKED ME IN THE LOBBY. Do not stay here.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Stayed with my family over the weekend. Easy checkin. Friendly staff. Clean room. The pool was great! Great location, half block to boardwalk. Will stay again!
- Megan (8/5): - This was one of the cleanest hotels in seaside. I loved the fact there was a security guard at night. Made my friends and I feel safe!
- Jardel (10/5): - Close to everything!
- Sandra (10/5): - Nice and quiet
- Lexi (8/5): - It was eh. Not terrible, not great. Good enough to sleep in and that’s about it.
- Annette (6/5): - Parking was very difficult! Space very narrow to get in and out. When I could not find a spot, I was told to go down the street around the corner. I was not about to do that! If you wanted to sit outside your room there’s one chair for all the rooms. Pillows were about thick 2 inches thick and very uncomfortable.
- Perla (10/5): - Amazing staff very friendly. We asked for more pillows and towels and they brought more without questions. We enjoyed the pool despite it saying “no diving” lol. This is our new favorite spot!!
- carol a (10/5): Great Ladies weekend in Seaside! - Close to boardwalk was great! Pool was crowded but next door pool was bigger and better! Both buildings and 2 pools!
- Catherine (2/5): - The locks were old fashioned real key! Only had a bed spread, no top sheet or blanket, we kept our shoes on because the tiled floors were questionable. It did have a nice pool and Jimmy's Breakfast around the corner was great. Boardwalk was nice. It was sad that you had to pay to go on the beach! Plus they CLOSE the beach at like 7:00 pm!!!
- Madelene (8/5): - The best part was Sherrly the front checkin lady. So nice and welcoming. Area was very close to the boardwalk. We will definitely book again
- Sandra (10/5): - It is close so i can walk more
- Anne Marie (10/5): - Minutes from the broadwalk
- Francisco (8/5): - I enjoyed staying at this location it was conveniently one block from the boardwalk. Had great parking areas, even for big pickup trucks! It isn’t the nicest looking but good enough to sleep & shower! Rooms were pretty decent and for the price it’s definitely better than i expected! Pool was great and staff were very friendly! The only complaint i had was that the bedroom floors were dirty and in need of a cleaning!
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Only negative was soda machine didn’t work.
- Pam (6/5): Are you there for the hotel or the beach - The property was old and unimproved with very few amenities. That being said, the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The beac and boardwalk was a comfortable 1.5 block walk for these osteoarthritic knees. Restaurants were also an easy walk
- Raquel (2/5): - This hotel is the worst, the bed linen and towels are disgustingly dirty
- Trail38894650765 (6/5): Theifs - Worst hotel ever. I left my blanket on the bed and i called the next day about it and they claimed they never found it! And a few years ago my brother left his switch in one of the rooms and they never found that either they are liars and they still sh!t They also have awful bathrooms the only good thing is the convience to the place other than that make sure u have everything with you bc trust me itll end up missing!!!
- Adam (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay
- Tyler (6/5): - Must upgrade the TVs. Our tv was very old and had to be turned off because terrible noise it makes. And the bathroom doesn’t have to look so sad.
- Elvin (4/5): - Definitely needs an update, the sheets and pillow covers had wholes n stains , the bath towels had hair on it. The Ac unit needs to be maintenanced. Room smells like 1960s humid wooden panel apartments.
- Anyer (10/5): - Excellent attention
- Ana (4/5): - Sea Gem Is Old very old and it even smells old.
It’s so so not safe.
Broken furniture in room old tv, above ceiling alarm broken and hanging etc..
Ugly and dirty blind. It’s depressing.
I have few pictures I took as proof.
- Nonnie (6/5): - Theyre using cleaning supplies
NOT GOOD FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES
MICROWAVE NOT WORKING
THEY REQUIRE THE CUSTOMER TO BUY THEIR OWN MICROWAVE....
- Lestiyani (2/5): - There are hair on the bathtub and bedsheets. There is a very strong odor like cologne. We left the room to request different room but there is no room available. The trip is canceled.
- Nicole (6/5): - The only problem with the hotel was that it did not look like the room had been cleaned in weeks. Luckily I kind of assumed that so I brought my own cleaning supplies and clean the entire hotel room myself with the help of my significant other. Other than that not too too bad. Not recommended for the easily squeamish. But definitely recommended for people that just want to rest their head and enjoy the Jersey Shore experience.
- Yvonne (4/5): - The TV didn’t work. It made a high-pitched noise. The room smelled like heavy disinfectant and some unknown odor.
- Victor (2/5): - Property location was great, but everything was so dirty. We checked in late at about 9:30pm so didn’t want to start looking for another room at that hour. I don’t think our room was cleaned - not the bedsheets or the bathroom. It was pretty gross. Blood spots by the sink, soiled toilet lid, strong cigarette odor, knife carving on a wall, rusty refrigerator, loose door locks, sticky table surface, sloped bed, smelly bedsheets
- Dawn (2/5): - The property had no check in office. Had to check in at a different hotel. Room was dirty. Bathtub did not work. Towel in drain. Bathroom sink broke. Dirty floors. Noisy all night. People screaming and yelling. Room door would not shut.
- Emily (10/5): - I liked the staff and the beds. The AC in our room did not work.
- Joel (10/5): -
- Carole Jean (2/5): - Your a couple steps from the board walk n the ocean
- Tabatha (4/5): - You get what you pay for... my room had nats. The fridge didn't close. The bed has bed bug stains even tho it had bed bug covers. Shower was clogged. I went out of my own way to clean the room and disinfect it to feel atleast alittle more comfortable. I can see why they don't do refunds. They know they'll lose alot of money. Front desk was helpful but was unprofessional with language use. But what can I say you get what you paid for.
- John (10/5): 102 - Clean and reasonably priced 10 out of 10
- John (2/5): - We were all afraid that the Mexican drug cartels would bust in the door at any moment. The building could not possibly been up to code. The door had been kicked in (more than once) and never properly repaired. Smoke alarm inop. CO alarm inop. One tv Chanel in Spanish. I have slept in better places while fighting in Iraq.
- Lourdes (4/5): - I normally don't leave bad reviews on any place; but, I do feel I must do it this time... because I don't want others to come to this place and experience the same level of dissapointment as I did... dirty, old, a TV from the 70s (big black box in the back of it), no remote controls, broken blinds, moldy tubs...
This place needs major upgrades. For the amount of money it costs; I think they can do a lot better. Not expecting a 4-5 star service; but, you can at least reach a "two star level". This place is not even a half-star at this moment.
- brian m. (4/5): - The blinds were broke so people could see in and the TV only had 2 channels.. it’s cheap you get what ya pay for the sheets were clean
