Wir liebten die Aussicht, die Ruhe, die Tiere, die Freundlichkeit, natürlich das außergewöhnliche Frühstück, die Möglichkeit der „Selbstversorgung“ mit vorbereiteten Speisen. Die liebevoll gestaltete Anlage war so einladend. Nichts.

• Johannes (9/5): Luxusferien auf dem Bauernhof - Ein tolles Konzept für Komfort auf einer echten Farm! Tiere, Minigolf, selbstgekochtes Essen und zig Möglichkeiten. Auch etwas für Dusk to Dawn to Dawn to Dawn. Die Anfahrt ist etwas abenteuerlich über eine Schotterstraße aber es geht auch ohne Allrad und lustige Schilder halten einen bei Laune.

• Anja (10/5): Perfekter Ort für eine Zwischenübernachtung auf dem Weg zum Krüger! - Wir haben auf dem Weg zum Krüger eine Nacht hier verbracht und waren total begeistert. Unser Häuschen hatte einen wunderbaren Blick in die Natur, und morgens konnten wir aus dem Bett den Sonnenaufgang betrachten. Alles war geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sauber. Gudrun, die Besitzerin hat uns herzlich empfangen. Man kann sich mit verschiedenen TK-Gerichten versorgen, die man sich in der eigenen Küche warm macht. Mittags hatten wir einen leckeren frischen Salat. Auch das Frühstück war super reichhaltig und lecker. Im Gemeinschaftsbereich gibt es sogar einen Pool. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und würden hier jederzeit wieder übernachten.

• Stefan (10/5): Wunderschöne ländliche Unterkunft zum entspannen und abschalten - Einfach alles! Wir haben kostenlos ein Upgrade bekommen. Das Haus war perfekt und liebevoll eingerichtet! Die Gastgeberin war herzlich und hat uns jeden Wunsch von den Lippen abgelesen. Die Unterkunft liegt sehr ländlich und ruhig, was uns sehr gefallen hat. Man kann kann die Blicke streifen lassen. Das gesamte Anwesen ist sehr gepflegt.Das Frühstück ist überragend - wer das nicht in Anspruch nimmt hat etwas verpasst. Wir haben nach 7 Tagen SANParks im Krüger diesen Luxus sehr genossen. Die Unterkunft ist gut erreichbar, wenn man die N2 weiterfährt, bis das Haus ausgeschildert ist. Mit einem tiefergelegten 3er werden die letzten Meter etwas schwer 😅

Man konnte im Deli vor Ort eine grosse Auswahl an Abendessen / Getränken und Desserts einkaufen und alles mit Aussicht am Abend geniessen. Alkes schmeckte perfekt. Um uns herum lauter Schwalben im Tiefflug. Im Teich quaken die Frösche. Die Rinder blöken. Es war wunderbar. Im Haus war nichts was wir vermissten. Ich hab vor allem die dicken Bettdecken geschätzt. • Michael (7/5): Danke der Nachbarin und ihrem Mann für die gute Betreuung und der Hilfe beim Stromausfall. - Blitz und Donner. Ein schönes Guesthouse mit Sicht in die unendliche Weite. Wir haben eine Nacht in der umzäunten Anlage verbracht. Die dazugehörenden Häuser passen sich einem wunderschön angelegten Garten an. Das geräumige Zimmer war mit einer gut ausgestatteten Küche und einem schönen Bad eingerichtet. Leckeres, verschiedenes selbst gemachtes, tiefgefrorenes Essen konnte man sehr günstig vor Ort einkaufen und mit Mikrowelle, Gasherd oder Grillbackofen im Zimmer aufkochen. Die Gegend um Piet Retieve soll bekannt für starke Gewitter sein. Das durften wir erleben, inklusivem mehrmaligen Stromausfall. Gestört hat es nicht zwingend, sondern hatte auch einen romantischen Touch. Bailey, der Besitzerhund hatte mehr Angst, hat bei uns Unterschlupf gesucht und sich bei uns verkrümelt. Eher gestört hat uns das Geschrei von einem oder mehreren Pfauen in der Früh. Wir wurden jedoch davor gewarnt, bzw. informiert und gehört einfach zum Dusk to Dawn Guesthouse.

Der kleine Spazierweg zum Teich ist nach einer langen Autofahrt super. Ein längerer Aufenthalt würde sich lohnen. Eine Kleinigkeit beanstandet der Installateur: Der Duschkopf sollte ausgetauscht werden.

• Alice (10/5): Amazing! - We stayed in numerous places in South Africa on our three week trip and this place impressed us the most. Yes it is remote so requires a little effort to get to but that is part of its appeal. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. As soon as we arrived we instantly felt more relaxed than we had done anywhere else. Having sports channels to watch UK cricket was an added bonus! The microwave style meals provided in the freezer and the drinks, all done on an honesty basis, were a godsend after a 5 hour drive. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Add to this a farm teaming with bird life to keep my partner happy. We would definitely go back! Leaving after only one night to go and stay in a tent!

We had a lovely walk around the farm in the morning before heading off on our way. The breakfast was lovely and made with local produce.

• Jane (10/5): - The Dusk to Dawn Farm Guesthouse is “outstanding!” We were surprised to be given an upgrade, and the cottage was absolutely stunning. It had a downstairs with kitchen, living room and tv, bedroom and large bathroom. The upstairs had a living room, bedroom and bathroom. Both had breathtaking views of the farm. The cottages are nicely decorated and quite cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed all the farm animals (cows, ducks, chickens, pigs, donkeys, etc.), as well as the wildlife. There were swing sets, miniature golf, tree hut, sandbox and pool for one to enjoy. The breakfasts were scrumptious, including fresh eggs, homemade jams, honey, breads, and much more! There was also a country store to purchase farm made meals, and certainly were a welcoming site since we did not want to go to town to eat. The store had a variety of arts and crafts to purchase, and I bought quite a bit! Most of all, the hosts (Gudrun and Johann) deserve recognition for their genuine hospitality. They certainly have created a beautiful, most welcoming guesthouse with all the amenities, and such a serene atmosphere. The details such as quotes in the garden and in the dining room shall always be treasured! The staff deserve recognition for their friendliness, attentiveness, and for such beautiful crafts! We would not hesitate to come back here and we really wished we could have stayed much longer. We enjoyed the serenity, as well as the farm experience. Thumbs up to the Dusk to Dawn Farm Guesthouse!

• Trish (10/5): ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SPOT - BEST OVERNIGHT STAY EVER!! - Dusk to Dawn was without doubt the very best overnight stay we have ever enjoyed. It was the weekend of the huge snowfall in KZN, and we were traveling back from the Kruger Park, to KZN. When we arrived there, we were told that they had upgraded our accommodation to a unit that has a fireplace, given the FREEZING weather. The unit was a "little home", with everything we could possibly need - it just had a REALLY amazing feel about it. We bought dinner from their deli, which we absolutely loved .... Altogether, it was a PERFECT stop - IDEALLY located just off the N2 - in a safe, warm and nurturing environment. Nothing... It couldn't have been more perfect :)

It is clear that Gudrun & Johann, together with their team of friendly staff members, run Dusk to Dawn with a lot of love. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the view over the farmland hills is stunning, and the breakfast was easily the most delicious one I had in South Africa! Another thing we enjoyed in particular was the variety of pre-cooked frozen meals available at the farm shop, which made for an excellent dinner option after long days of adventuring and exploring in the Piet Retief area. Very well equipped kitchen area with tea, etc provided. A good bathroom with lovely shower. It was really helpful to be able to choose home cooked dishes & wine from the Deli for dinner, which we re-heated in the unit. I also bought bread and jams to take away. The breakfast was superb. There are walks around the farm if you want. It was very peaceful and I could easily spend a couple of nights there.
