• Ash (8/5): It was a great stay - it was conveniently located and it was very accomodating. - The breakfast was great. I was very happy with the service and the staff being able to accommodate to my schedule with my early mornings and busy days. I was happy with the cleaning and overall the facilities were perfect. It was prime location as I was working at Kearnsey College. On one of the days the plumbing was broken and the water was cold - they let me know I could shower inside the room which was great solution but the problem was that I was already heading off to work for the day. On the last day there was no power and the solar power ran out which was frustrating. It was just a frustrating experience although I understand it was out of anyone's control.

• ian (6/5): Disappointing. - My first 2 days were double booked so they moved me to another guest house, which was actually good but I had to go back to Eagle for breakfast!! On day 3 they put me in room 1. It was very large with a comfortable bed, however 1. The safe was broken 2. There was no plug in the bath. They said there was a water shortage. Eventually, the next day I got a plug. Their pool was "green" and unusable. The TV did not work. They changed it twice but I never got to see a program. When they finally said it was sorted when I clicked on a program a message came up saying rhe max number of users had been reached so I could not access it. I finally gave up. The young lady in charge of breakfast and my room was outstanding.

The ironing service, I had to go down to the ironing room in order to be able to iron my clothes. It would have been easier and convenient if we have ironing set in the room.

• Thobile (2/5): The place was nice but did not enjoy my stay I could wait to check out - The location and the place I nice The fact that I was call to be told we were loud so that means if you go there you must not talk because the rooms are net to each ather and the breakfast was not the value of the money I don’t want to lie I was annoyed by the hole thing and when we wanted to prepare for the food and iron the lady keeps on saying it was not allowed like even the towels for the pool were very old

• Nonkanyiso (6/5): The place is functional - Th location served the purpose for our visit. You can hear people walking in and out in the middle of the night. Understandably, it cannot be helped due to the nature of the property. Maybe installing carpets on the staircase will help.

• Heather (6/5): Pleasant - The room was clean and comfortable and the lady that did the breakfasts was very pleasant and friendly. The lack of reception was an issue. It was unpleasant having to wait at the gates with no-one monitoring and having to frequently call to try get attention. Same goes once inside, there seems to be no one available to communicate with, you are very much left to sort yourself out like an AirBnb but with breakfast available.

Then why change towels when we indicated not to do so

• Sarah (8/5): Comfortable - Great location for the Hillcrest/Botha's Hill area. Lovely gardens and decor. Clean, fluffy towels, great shower and comfortable bed. I felt safe while staying there. Breakfast was great - good quality ingredients that set me up for the day. Maltabello could not have been more helpful. Highly recommend. Minor thing but wouldn't mind a deadlock/chain on the bedroom door for extra sense of security - but not a deal breaker.

• Andrea (4/5): Very disappointing - Beautiful garden , Very shabby and run down. Desperately needs refurbishing. Carpet was old and stained, shower door handle nearly falling off. Everything seems run down and in poor condition. Staff were completely absent, never responded to my request for late check out. Never even set eyes on the manager, if there is one.
• Johan (7/5): Good - The location is very convenient and beds are quite comfortable . Good variety available for breakfast We have stayed there over past 7 years as it is convenient location. However the airconditioning has never worked properly despite reporting it multiple times (we took our own fan this time) and there is a very strong smell of mothballs in the rooms
• Pedro (2/5): Accommodation but certainly NO hospitality. - It is a beautiful property. The check-in experience, overall service and attention to detail were shocking. No answer to provided telephone number for days. Even when we arrived for check-in we called 14 times. Later we will hear the owner was out of town and not reachable. No alterative numbers anyware. Not on their mails, booking.com site, their website or at the property. We stood outside of property for more than a hour with no one to open gate or welcome us for check-in. We eventially contacted the security company ( luckily their number was on the property wall) and they responded and came to open the gate of the property and try and get some-one to check us in. This "stand-in" person/assistant was not up to service standard to help. No excuse, no sorry, no nothing.

• Petermac99 (4/5): Pricey and definitely not a 4 star rating as indicated ..... - Room was good and bed great. Had a nice bonfire in evening which saved the day. Place was a mess when we arrived as had not cleaned up after a function.
• Mngadi (8/5): Best egg white omelette in KZN! - Room size and cleanliness. Check-in traversed questions that were already covered in the booking. No tour of the property’s amenities other than the two rooms reserved.
• Cindy (7/5): Nice & clean, great location. - Beautiful grounds, room nice, clean. Rooms a bit dated, but clean & tidy. Unfortunately we got locked out the lodge as another guest couldn’t read or understand the note about the lock on the main door, and they locked the main switch & therefore our key would not open the door. So we had fun trying to get hold of someone to come open up for us. Also, coffee not topped up properly in room, only 1 normal coffee there.

In this time, no light, no back up generator .. no coffee. Staff very pleasant Power (alternatives need to be available or at the very least communicated to guests) Bed Cold
