That on the first morning I was to hungover to take advantage of the complimentary buffet breakfast and on second morning I was running a little late and had to much to do ,so again I missed out ......

Room was desperately in need of repairs. Lifting tiles. Bathroom door wouldn't close. Bathroom vanity needed to be replaced.

One bed low to ground and could feel springs in mattress. Tiles lifting in corner of room. Glass door does not lock , security door fastened with chain. Water damage to bathroom vanity. Crack in hand basin. No internal handle to shower Not many vegetarian options

• Julie (7/5): Heritage Motel, Weipa - Good value for money stopover, close to supermarket and beach. We enjoyed the pool area. Short walk to the beach for viewing the magnificent sunset. Towel rail in bathroom missing.

• MICHAEL (10/5): - The manager quickly solved a problem with the wifi in my room. I ate at the restaurant the chicken parmi was delicious and topped off with a good sized salad. The resort is undergoing renovations these did not impact on my stay.

• Rhett (8/5): Good location, quiet and comfortable - Good location in the town centre of Weipa yet near the beach (5 min walk), only 2 min walk from shopping centre and Woollies, and across the road from hospital. I'm not sure that I would call this a resort, but it all depends on what a resort means to you. For the location near the beach and grassy area around the hotel, yes, but to me, resort means upperscale, perhaps even luxury. I was not expecting luxury anyway, so to me, this was perfectly fine for what I needed, and I had a very pleasant stay. The rooms are definitely dated but they are clean, very spacious, and with all the amenities you would expect, including a kettle, toaster and microwave so you can be self sufficient with the nearby grocery store if you chose to. Lovely owners and staff members, helpful and friendly. I visited in the wet season, so very quiet inside and outside the building, I can imagine the place would be popular in the dry season. Swimming pool on site although on the day I went to jump in there was a layer of dust and bugs sitting on top, not very attractive but the next day the pool looked clean and inviting. There is a restaurant on site open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Coffee shops recently open with nice strong coffee decent size too and reasonably priced. I got takeaway pizza one night, which was delicious. While waiting for the pizza, I even had time to walk to the beach and watch sunset. Only 15 min drive to/from airport which by taxi was $15 per person. Overall, I was very happy with my stay. Slept very well in the huge bed, would definitely return.

• Ian (8/5): Very good - Very convenient location in the centre. A small shopping mall with a Woolworths Supermarket is only a few steps away and the Resort Restaurant and Bar saves having to drive to other places.

• Anna (4/5): Disappointing - Bed was comfy Room was dated and not well cleaned. Wifi did not reach to our room. Rate was expensive and we were charged over$50 more through booking.com than the hotel was charging on the day.

They couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful, literally nothing was too much trouble. Made my stay fantastic under difficult circumstances. Room was clean, tidy and functional for the type of property it is. Restaurant was excellent as was the Wi-Fi. Not much for the price paid. Perhaps Netflix out YouTube on the TV would have been nice and is becoming a standard these days.

• Suzanne (8/5): Comfortable and clean room but overpriced. - As we were arriving late we were given our room number and the door was unlocked and the key left in the room. It was a large room and bed was comfortable. It had a microwave which I found very convenient and was next door to the supermarket. Furniture was old. It was over 2klm from the main town even though there was a supermarket next door. You needed your own transportation to get around. Room was expensive I think because of a major event in town.

• Matt (6/5): - Pretty standard for regional/remote accomodation in northern Australia, and there is a low bar. Understandably Covid is continuing to make it hard for accomodation providers e.g. staff shotages, kitchen closes earlier than advertised etc. But the place is dated, staff weren't very welcoming or acoomodationg - they just seemed grumpy and fed up. Walls are thin so I had to contend with snoring. Weipa is a minimg down and honestly, there is nothing much nice about mining towns. So have low expectations about everything and it will be fine.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Would not recommend! - Walked in to reception to check in and wasn’t greeted at all! I asked to check in, was handed room key and that was it. No explanation/conversation entered into whatsoever. Room very dated, hotel very dated and not well maintained. Pool dirty. Had to go back to reception to ask for wifi details, handed me a piece of paper with details on it. Again no conversation and why would he not give me this information with the key. Very unimpressed!
• karen (6/5): Untapped Potential - We liked the spacious room and easy access to the small shopping centre with supermarket just 2minutes walk away. Also, the short walk to Barramunchies at the Caravan Park across the way, for a meal and to sit in the garden looking out to sea as the sun set. The pool area looked nice, but we didn't use it. Otherwise, the hotel looked tired and unloved. Old cans and a few bottles were strewn along the driveway that were not picked up the 3 days we were there. The verge belonged to the shopping centre i think, but it isn't a good look as you drive in and it would've taken 5-10 minutes to clear. The small palm trees along the drive could have looked attractive had the dead branches been removed. The toilet brush holder in the bathroom had so many dead bugs and muck in it, you could have grown potatoes in it. These things are a shame as with little effort they could be fixed. I would not choose to stay here again.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Business Trip - Have stayed previously and was interested to see if it had improved. It is a very noisy hotel, particularly at dinner time as the kitchen is off the same corridor as the rooms. The room was clean and tidy and large and spacious. Pillows need replacing, mine were lumpy and there is only 2 on the bed. The room comes with a microwave, but no forks or spoons so makes it a bit redundant. Next door to the shops so convenient for getting food etc. Could improve with some pest control, spent one night chasing a couple of spiders. Not really a place for business as there is no desk space but overall an average place to stay and not overpriced.
