- Andreas (7/5): Schöner Aufenthalt in ansprechendem Hotel - Schöne Lage, gemütliches Ambiente Service war zwar freundlich aber oft langsam und unaufmerksam
- David (9/5): Brilliant staff, very clean and room was beautiful apart from views for a delux room - Beautiful premises, garden was stunning Parking on arrival was square as there was a wedding, further away from the town than thought
- Simon (9/5): -

- James (10/5): Great food, Good location, Clean, affordable. - Room was spacious. Facilities were clean. We were really impressed with the restaurant & breakfast. Being American, it was nice to have local meals with a home cooked feeling. The location was great for what we wanted to do and the staff took good care of us.
- Brown (2/5): Terrible stay and would certainly not recommend this hotel to families ! - It offered a good quality shower On returning to the hotel my family and I were subjected to foul abuse shouted at us from party goers leaving one of the function rooms who were not even residents but just attending one of there many onsite parties they host. Totally unacceptable and ruined our stay. Nothing in the way of a proper apology from the manager or night staff.
- Vivien (10/5): -
- Deborah (9/5): Slept like a log - super comfy bed - spacious twin room. - Super comfortable bed. Twin room was spacious. Very professional and friendly staff. Unfortunately there were several functions happening on the evening of our stay, which meant we struggled to park, the bar area so very busy, the lovely garden was crowded and the music was loud - not the relaxing evening we had envisaged.
- James (10/5): This was a great experience and a great hotel! - Very clean and close to the town. The service folks were superb! All was great!

- Vicki (9/5): Staff were lovely & very accommodating. Thank you - The room was lovely after we were changed due to no air con in original room. Nothing
- Mina (10/5): - Very friendly staff, wonderful breakfast, and a big comfortable room. It was the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds—quiet, welcoming, and ideally located. I’d happily stay here again.
- Jan5 (10/5): - Lovely location. Close to many cotswolds attractions. We have stayed several times before. This time we ate our evening meal in a cosy corner of the bar. The staff even came over and lit the fire for us, very relaxing, after a busy family wedding away.. Lovely lawns at back decorated with fairy lights.
Very enjoyable, freshly cooked breakfasts too.
- Sara (10/5): - La struttura è bellissima, curata, pulita. Immersa nel verde. A distanza di dieci minuti di camminata dal centro del paese. La colazione ottima e varia Nulla tutto perfetto
- Jeremy (9/5): -
- Brad (10/5): Amazing hotel, great scenery and very welcoming. - Breakfast was really good. Great produce. Reasonably priced. Staff were all very kind and polite and always welcoming. The first morning we had at breakfast, staff were a bit slow and even mentioned they were tired. Took a while for us to order. But that’s nothing to knock down a score. We were all young once and we dont know what happens behind the scenes!
- Terence (1/5): Appalling - The fact that they’re ‘cashless’ and neglect to tell you when booking or mention it on their website.
If I’d have known beforehand, I would never have booked here. Don’t deserve custom so I walked into town and ate elsewhere, same for breakfast.
The rather arrogant receptionist also wanted my card details because ‘it’s their policy’…. It’s my policy not to give that information to anyone unnecessarily.
Floorboards excessively noisy, not only in my room but next door too , so every movement was heard throughout the night through the paper thin walls
- Rafael (10/5): - Everything here is awesome. Staff, food, location, you name it. Our dog was also very happy with it (sausage for breakfast made the deal) Nothing to write here

- 334074229ee87397e1551f90111e6429 (4/5): Great location. Would not stay again due to above comments. - The parking was close to the hotel The walls are extremely thin. Was awoken up at 5am by the residents next door slamming the door. This was continuous for approximately 2 hours.

- e673dde1580672d9483e97d74022531e (7/5): A lovely hotel and ideal location; just right for our needs - Food was amazingly good and plenty of it.
Staff were welcoming and professional.
Rooms were spacious, well furnished and very clean.
Bar, dining area and lounge area were welcoming and beautifully furnished. It would have been nice to know about the refurbishment going on in reception, just out of courtesy.
Some of our bathrooms needed refreshing and upgrading a little, e.g. flooring was showing water damage & there was some peeling of paint from the walls in one bathroom.
- Elliot (3/5): Very disappointed given the building and Loction, bad staff and management - Location and garden, ideal for the dog. Parking was okay aswell Room smelt of smoke and no one cared to investigate it or change our room, staff where blunt and breakfast service wasn’t worth my money. Very slap dash staff
- Joseph white (5/5): - Location was good Had a superior deluxe double room .....ensuite was very small and the room was a bit dismal with poor lighting...unlucky enough to have builders from 8.30 am drilling !!! I do understand that there was refurbishment going on but at least let customers be aware of it .
ironing board ...hairdryer plus good selection of tea coffee and milk was a nice touch.
- pamelatP3146US (6/5): Disapointingly Poor Customer Service - Lovely building, very good food, clean and comfortable surroundings including outdoor area. So disappointing that the service is exceptionally poor.
A surprise birthday trip was spoiled by incredibly bad communication. Firstly, when my husband made the booking by phone, explaining that it was a surprise for me so the spa treatment required as part of the package couldn't be booked because he didn't know what I'd choose, he was told it wouldn't be a problem.
Very disappointing then, to find that our break hadn't been booked as a package. The lady in the spa was very understanding, checked our details and suggested we went through to the hotel reception. We did this, explained the problem, and asked that the booking was changed to include the required package.
The receptionist, in an unfriendly tone, told us he "couldn't just retrofit" our booking. He told us he was on reception and wasn't able to make the decision. We asked him to contact someone who could. He stared for a while and said "Well not right now!".
There was no-one waiting at reception and there was another member of staff to cover if necessary.
We were left to return to the spa and sort out payment for that afternoon and another visit a couple of days later.
We have never experienced such indifferent rudeness in any hotel. Our request for the change to our booking doesn't appear to have been followed up.
Four weeks ago I posted a long letter to the owners of Stratton House Hotel, detailing our dissatisfaction. To date we haven't been contacted.
- Nigel (10/5): -
- Warren (4/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing - I had a fantastic stay, a very fab lovely room, staff all very friendly and helpful, highly recommend
- E (8/5): Lovely hotel , met expectations. Staff delightful would definitely return - Noise in corridors at night. Noise from room above.
- Paul (10/5): Totally wonderful! - The staff are totally lovely, but the restaurant is FABULOUS and really good value Beautiful, comfortable and warm.and in a terrific location
- erica (8/5): - Food, Spa and staff. The twin room beds were exceptionally narrow. And the green fire/security light was way too bright.
- 844helenp (8/5): Lovely building and nice overall experience but room less good - Lovely old building with lots of space and a nice walled garden. Some very friendly staff. It’s a bit of a way outside Cirencester but it’s only a 20 minutes walk and some of that is down a very scenic street. The breakfast was good and the food in the evening reasonable. My room - room 1 - was less good - I was on my own but the price for a single was the same as a double. And the room overlooked the kitchen ( although to be fair it wasn’t noisy or smelly). The worst thing was a VERY bright security light very near the bed, which meant a green glow all night and I found it hard to sleep. A previous guest had tried to cover it up with toilet paper, so there was toilet paper hanging from the ceiling! When I asked for it to be dimmed I was told it was there “ for my security” which I thought was a rather dismissive answer. If it really can’t be turned down I think the hotel should provide eye masks.
- Georginawill (8/5): Cosy country hotel / spa - Perfect location for visiting, Cirencester, GWR steam railway, The farmers dog pub and Didley Squat Farm. Our afternoon tea on arrival was delicious. Staff friendly and helpful, lovely large room was immaculate. So much choice for breakfast from fresh fruit, pastries to hot food to order.
We used the spa during our stay which is small but lovely, clean and all facilities work. We had a massage which was amazing.
Only slight disappointment was the meal in the first night, waiter not very knowledgeable, food mediocre and my Expresso Martini was 3/4 full.
Good value for money too
- Lisa (10/5): Amazing and very enjoyable. - The most friendly staff. The place is beautiful. Comfy beds, gorgeous rooms. Plenty of space for your furry friends. We asked for two rooms together and they did this for us. Definitely staying next year. Staff amazing 🤩 Nothing, everything was exceptional.
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - Accomodation was comfortable and clean and the staff over dinner were very accommodating Nothing imparticular
- Barry (4/5): - Staff not helpful
Overpriced - poor menu and expensive
Wine grossly overpriced
Spa minimal plus silly cost addition
Definitely not 4star ???
- Anne (8/5): -
- Richard (9/5): - Exceptional food, breakfast was excellent
Great location
- stefano (7/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): The stay was excellent even though staffing was low due to staff absence. Hannah, Mattie and Alex were fantastic. - The building and facilities were beautiful and quirky. Not enough drinks range at the bar.
- Costantino (9/5): - Sensational location.
Clean rooms.
Very nice hotel.
- Kay (10/5): We stayed one night and the experience was great. - Arriving at the hotel the reception staff were friendly, had already checked in on line so was quick easy.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was lovely and staff friendly.
Rooms spacious and the bed was large and comfy. Nothing.
- John (9/5): -
- Neelum (8/5): Great stay for relaxed spa beak in Cotswolds - Friendly staff, amazing spa (I had a lovely massage by teigen), great location to visit nearby places, good price. Rooms were a little dated, creaky floors.
- Jennifer (6/5): Lovely room but the rest wasn’t the best - We sat in the lounge in the afternoon at 3pm and when we came back at 6pm the afternoon tea plates etc were still there. Plenty of staff around. The food we had in the evening was awful
- Jean (10/5): Very restful and charming hotel. - Beautiful garden which can be viewed from the dining room. Small fridge in the bedroom would be an asset.
- Pam (10/5): Short stay whilst visiting family - Breakfast excellent as always
- Guy (2/5): -
- dunn46 (10/5): Great staff, so welcoming! - Such a great stay and the staff are fantastic, so helpful and friendly … Alex behind the bar, Hannah - working on her birthday - Tatiana in reception and Ruby in the spa. Will be back.
- Annette (8/5): -
- David (5/5): Average - Adequate. Slightly tired and in need of a refurbishment. Just my opinion. First interaction with staff, immediately after "hi", was to be told my room won't be ready until 3pm. Personally, I'd have welcomed a guest with a smile, "thanks for joining us", maybe you'd like to make use of the spa, as opposed to a negative welcome.
- Francis (10/5): -
- SARAH (8/5): Very comfy and good value, thanks - View from room to opposite wall
- Himal Silva (10/5): - Very comfortable spacious room and facilities. The heater couldn't find easily.
- Deborah (9/5): -
- SLM-0675 (10/5): Brilliant Spa stay all boxes ticked - Stratton House Spa did not disappoint. As soon as we walked into reception we were greeted by the name. We had booked lunch in addition to our over night stay which was taken in the bar area. This was small and cosy, service and food were fantastic. We then went for our Spa experience. The spa is small however not crowded due to how this is managed. The Spa treatment was lovely and whilst there is a jacuzzi, steam room and saunas it actually gave you the chance to relax rather than making sure you get to all the room experience to make sure you covered all like some larger Spas.
We then checked into our room which was clean, spacious had all you needed tea coffee water and the Spa products in the room for washing which smell gorgeous. Comfy beds.
We had the dinner, well the choices were great, service was great and OMG the food, well hats off to the chef outstanding. We had bought the overnight stay with dinner Bed and breakfast. It was all amazing could fault a thing and will be booking again. Excellent value for money.
- Sofía (8/5): - Muy bonito, localizacion perfecta para explorar los Cotswolds, decoración acogedora
- Gazzacoys70 (9/5): - Great place to stay and enjoy joy the area
- Suzanne (7/5): Convenient and welcoming - Nice staff Too hot in the room
- BlueSi7 (10/5): Great birthday weekend! - Lovely weekend all the staff were very friendly especially Jason. Breakfasts are excellent!
- Q9216OBamandab (10/5): Wedding made magical by the wonderful sttaff of this beautiful hotel - Firstly apologies for this late review, by no means represents our experience, just the joy and aftermath of being married!
We booked our wedding in July 2025 and it was the best decision we've ever made! Our wedding was in November 2025 and so timing was super short for the ever capable wedding planner in residence Hallie! She was the epitome of great wedding planning being quietly beside us through every decision. The wedding was at the tope end of the venue capacity yet ran like clockwork!
When our day quickly arrived, everything went smoothly thanks to Hallie and the amazing team at Stratton House, especially worth a mention was Jack, the ever happy bar manager. Nothing was too much effort and they were able to meet all of our requests.
All of our guests commented on how amazing the venue, food and accommodation were!
We couldn't have asked for a better day Stratton House Hotel and Spa
- Passport33838737419 (10/5): Valentines dinner. - We had the most gorgeous meal on Valentines night. The service was excellent, surroundings beautiful. Will definitely be back and next time stay over to use the spa facilities to make a night of it.🩷
- Gary (10/5): Winter Break - Quiet location close enough to Cirencester.
Large ground floor bedroom
Friendly well trained staff
Good food
Calm atmosphere in Dining Room
Log fires
- Marilyn (8/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful The menu had not changed, which was disappointing, but the food was good.
- DaveHarry (10/5): Lovely country hotel that doesn’t tip you off! - A great stay on a Tuesday night for £110. A bargain for a gorgeous room. The staff were attentive and friendly and I really must commend the hotel for its pricing. The house red is £6.40 which is great value for a 175ml. The teas and coffees are £3! Amazing value for a quality coffee served in lovely surroundings. The food options were equally well priced and slightly cheaper than the nearby pubs and - key point - excellent quality.
- Russell Wayne (6/5): -
- Tim (8/5): Pleasant and comfortable stay, enhanced by a welcoming atmosphere and helpful, professional staff. - During our stay, we found the room to be nicely appointed overall. There were a few minor issues that could benefit from attention. In the bathroom, there was a wooden stand used for towel storage, which was also the only available space for our wash bags. Unfortunately, it was quite small and unstable, making it impractical. Additionally, the sink did not have any cold running water. This was reported so it could be rectified for future guests. We were offered an alternative room but chose to remain where we were.
The bedroom itself was well appointed, featuring a comfortable king-size bed and adequate space to hang clothing. The property was clean and well maintained throughout. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and spent time in the drawing room with the log burner, which was a particularly welcome touch given the poor weather during our stay.
We only interacted with two members of staff, but both were polite, professional, and extremely helpful, which added positively to our experience. One aspect of our stay that we found disappointing was the lack of soundproofing in the rooms. We were able to clearly hear conversations from the neighbouring room, as well as their television, which continued until late at night. This did impact our comfort and ability to fully relax
- Alice (10/5): Very good - Breakfast excellent
Staff good That I had to pay for the spa on top of room & bed and breakfast. The spa however is excellent
- noggin46 (10/5): Fabulous hotel and great food and service - Fabulous 1 night break, booked at the last minute and not disappointed. Very pretty old house that has kept its character as well as has some modern extensions.
Staff, from reception to bar to resturant and spa, superb.
Bar food for lunch excellent and evening meal in restaurant fabulous, great menu choices and presentation, quality and taste amazing. Very good value as well.
Some lovely wines on the list and great choice by the glass.
Spa small but good, stream room, sauna, hot tub. Loads of spa treatments but advise to book in advance so not disappointed. Reasonable priced as well
We stayed in a feature room which was lovely, didnt have a bath but next time we will ask in advance for one.
Only downside was the temperature, way to hot everywhere. We turned radiators off in room and had window open.
Overall, love the place and will definitely return.
- Niyom (9/5): perfect place wish to be back - The atmosphere was amazing, the room was very spacious, and the staff went above and beyond to help us. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding—fresh, clean, and perfectly delicious. The staff from both the night and morning shifts were extremely kind, lovely, and friendly. There is no elevator, although the booking website indicates that the accommodation is accessible for people with disabilities, which could be misleading. We arrived with large luggage; however, the staff were incredibly helpful and provided excellent service.

- jacquelinebU6134UY (10/5): Great stay in a cosy welcoming hotel - We had a lovely stay here, the hotel is located just outside Cirencester a d is well placed to visit all the Cotswold attractions. The hotel is a Grorgian hotel with well appointed rooms and bathrooms. The public areas are atreactively furnished and comfortable with a cosy log burning stove in the drawing room. We had two fabulous evening meals with delicious locally sourced produce and the breakfasts excellent, the restaurant and bar staff were very attentive and we would highly recommend a stay here.
- Duncan (8/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): - Everything! Very warm and friendly welcome and a clean and beautiful bedroom and bathroom. Perfect location. Very peaceful and charming. Absolutely nothing.
- Sabrina (8/5): - Staff were really friendly
Food was fab!
Loved the bath in our room 😊 Spa could have done with maybe another jacuzzi or a pool.
- Deborah (10/5): Outstanding staff and beautiful place - Excellent friendly staff All good
- Christine (10/5): Excellent very friendly and helpful staff always on hand to help, if you needed anything. - Breakfast was excellent, good amount of choices service was excellent, staff always on hand to help. The only thing was there was only sourdough bread on offer for breakfast and I found it a bit hard to cut when toasted.
- Poppy (10/5): -
- Eldho (1/5): - Just Location The front desk staff were extremely rude and unprofessional during my stay. I felt disrespected and treated unfairly, and some of the comments made had racial undertones, which made me very uncomfortable. This behavior is completely unacceptable in any hospitality setting. I expected basic courtesy and professionalism, which were not provided.
