John (10/5): The Talbot was everything we wanted and would certainly recommend it to everyone. - The location and free parking were perfect , the quiet room we asked for was just right, dinner was excellent and Breakfast was first class . All in all a perfect place for us.
Sarah (8/5): Ideal location for our purpose - would return if appropriate. - Easily located - good choice of food in the restaurant - friendly staff on leaving. Clean and tidy. RHS Wisley easily accessible for our visit . Staff on reception on arrival seemed indifferent as if we were too much trouble. Not keen on car parking charge. Rooms in separate building which might be an issue in bad weather.
Alan (7/5): The hotel served a perpus as its close to rhs wisley where we were visiting - The staff was polite the room was clean Having to pay to park my car in the hotel car park, the building work directly behind the room as a new housing development begins carried out it didn’t seem vary private so we had to keep the curtains closed.
Neil (6/5): - Room 7 (a single room) doesn’t have a shower curtain so showering without water going everywhere was tricky. Added to that the ceiling height in the shower was low making it uncomfortable. There are also some VERY low beams in the room and I hit my head several times. Not the best of stays. Which is unusual as I’ve stayed here many times and previously always found it perfect. Maybe room 7 is one to avoid!!!
Jacqueline (6/5): Beware, dangerous uneven courtyard - Great location, good value for money, breakfast included, powerful shower, comfortable bed Only one chair in a room for 2 people. Hole in courtyard outside reception led to a hard fall and broken ribs, witnessed by a lot of people. It will take weeks to recover. To be fair, they did write the incident up in their accident book, covered up the hole with a cone, provided extra chair and pillows, as I will not be able to lie down for weeks and have to sleep sitting upright. However, I am very disappointed there has been no effort to contact me to see if I am ok 3 days on from the incident, no apology from management or even an offer of compensation. This week I have had to employ an extra person as I cannot lift, stretch or bend down. I am in a lot of pain and financially affected.

Suzanne (4/5): Disappointing level of cleanliness - The breakfast was fairly standard, not as much selection as a large chain hotel but the food was tasty. Best hotel self-service coffee machine I've encountered. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The meal in the restaurant in the evening was tasty and reasonably priced. The room was shabby and uncared for. The cleanliness was very poor. The room was covered in dust, the doors were grimy from where people touched them, there were dents in the walls. Dust on the drawer tops, skirting, edge of the carpet. The shower had mould and hard water stains. The toilet was soiled with faeces and no toilet brush to clean it. The towel rail didn't work even though the switch was on, same with the extractor fan. The towel rail was covered in dust and rust. The shower head was so clogged with limescale the water came out like needles. I had to clean the nozzles with a toothpick before using the shower. The communal areas were also not clean, every seat in the hallway of the Ripley Wing and the dining room had stains on it. Some upholstered seats were missing their back and you could see the springs. The room was set up for 1 person, not a couple. Only 1 bottle of water, 1 glass, 1 set of towels, had to ask for more. Slowest toaster in the world at breakfast.
Ann (5/5): SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS SHOULD GET BETTER - The room had a shower and was on the ground floor The £10 parking per night so we parked free across the road. The meal was poor and despite me asking for fat free vegetables I had to reject the new potatoes and the replacement mash too so long to arrive ( without an apology!) I had eaten the rest of the meal. I have queried the bill but I have not received a reply.

Abiola (7/5): Needs deep Cleaning - The staff were very helpful and cheerful , the room is spacious . The inn needs deep cleaning, there are dust and cobwebs around the edges and stairs. The resturant toilet is dirty and breakfast food display needs to be updated food and plates were cold. The rooms kettle was full of limescale and was not clean, i had to requrst for another one. The sockets and plugs are not in good osition for easy use. You have to drag the extension plug around.

The breakfast was extremely poor - boiled bacon , plastic looking eggs in tureens that were from the 1980s.

Tony (6/5): - Location good for what we wanted. Room acceptable. Breakfast was poor. Buffet was pretty sparse. My wife just had a croissant and coffee. No fresh fruit. Fried eggs pre cooked and over done. Tables left uncleared all the time we were there. Not worth the extra we paid. Didn't pay the £10 for parking as we arrived after 6pm so could park in the street free of charge and we left before 10:30 am so got the 2 hours free parking.

The room though basic was clean and beds were comfortable. Unfortunately there is building work behind the hotel and our room was very close to this with the window looking directly onto it. If we had wanted a lie in the noise would have made it impossible.

Charles (4/5): Promised much but missed the mark. - The location was great for what we wanted to do. The rooms were small, the mattress and pillows were worn out. The furnishing and finishes in the bar and common parts were dated and worn out. A lovely period property that has been neglected. The car parking charge for the hotel’s own car park was a surprise. The restaurant menu was limited particularly to cater for allergies like gluten. The breakfast was a buffet and the food was stewed in the warmers. For the size of hotel made to order would have been better.

Bernd (2/5): Dreckig, unprofessionell. Nie wieder! - Bis auf die Nähe zu Wisley Garden leider nichts. Wären Betten und Handtücher nicht sauber gewesen, wären wir sofort abgereist. Das alte Gebäude ist auf den ersten Blick charmant. Sauberkeit: schon bei der Ankunft zwei fleckige Sessel am Empfang. Das Zimmer roch nach "Fisch", wie wir feststellten lag es an einem stinkenden Siphon. Die Spiegel und die Dusche waren nicht sauber, die Duschstange fiel fast von der Wand, die Badezimmertüre war durch Feuchtigkeit aufgequollen und lies sich nicht schließen. Auf Zierleisten auch außerhalb des Zimmers überall Staub. Die Krönung: ein junger Mitarbeiter, der mit dem Wischmob eine übergelaufene Toilette aufwischte, auswrang (ohne Handschuhe) und danach das Bier zapfte. Das Personal war freundlich, jedoch gänzlich ungelernt, serviert wurde kreuz und quer über den Tisch, darüber hätten wir hinwegsehen können. Aber auch im Speiseraum und in der Bar siffige, fleckige Sessel. Beim Frühstück lagen noch die Krümel vom Abendessen auf den Tischen und dem Boden. Frühstück = liebloses Menü.

Josephine (10/5): Fantastic place to stay. - Lovely room in a separate building from the pub. Character property with exposed beams. Comfy bed and plenty of space. Great food at the inn, great staff, the prices for good very reasonable, the portions generous with great quality products. The breakfast which was included in my price was very generous and served by a friendly staff member. We were able to order a cooked breakfast and it was cooked especially for us also lots of cereal yogurt etc. It was served in a lovely breakfast room especially for guests in a separate building away from the pub. We managed to get a parking space at the property which was very useful as when we arrived the town was very busy. I would definitely stay here again as it was in the centre of the town near to all the places of interest. Difficult to use the shower, could not keep the water at a usable temperature, so settled for a bath instead which is ok.

Geographical position was excellent - in a lovely village but so close to London and so handy for RHS Wisley. Evening meal and breakfast good. Surprise £10 charge for car park. Shocking and really undermined how we felt about the place. And inadequate supply of toilet paper!

Jacqueline (9/5): This was a return visit and we would definitely come again. - Great place to stay. Fabulous location and lovely historic pub. Good carpark at the rear (with direct access into to property) which you do have to pay for but it is not expensive and free at certain times. The twin room that we had is quirky but large and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and meals in the pub are also good. Staff are friendly and helpful and really make you feel welcome. Great value for money. Fittings a bit tired.

Shalloe (9/5): Probably the best B&B I have stayed in. - The staff were 100% customer focused, rooms were spotless, and food was exceptional, especially the breakfast that was produced using only top quality goods. Parking couldn't of been any easier as the pay and display carpark backed onto the hotel entrance. Room was comfortable with fan or heater to accommodate summer/winter. Room had spacious and adequate storage. I would give this property 100% without any fear of contridition. Will definitely recommend and return. I really cannot say that anything was not to like.

Julie (8/5): Would stay here again! - The hotel was in a great location for us. Parking was easy and only £10 for 24 hours. The room was very quiet and we slept well. All the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a buffet with cooked or continental which we loved. Very tasty! It was a little tired and could do with some decorating. We were in the Ripley wing which is off from the main hotel but I’m assuming you’d pay more for a room within the main building. There is a large housing estate being built directly behind. Since we stayed at the weekend, no work was being done but I could imagine during the week, the building work could be noisy?
Jacquie (8/5): Our stay was good on the whole. - Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. we walked into Much Wenlock from The Talbot. The bedroom was warm and comfotable. The bathroom needs a bit of updating as the toilet didn't flush that well, the hot tap swivled around, the water wouldn't stay in the wash basin due to a faulty plug. We reported this on our first morning but nothing was done. After I had my shower on the last night we were told the water had leaked into the Breakfast Room Kitchen strip light. Parking isn't ideal especially if The Talbot is full.

Nice village with couple of nice pubs Lovely old building with history Quiet room £10 a night parking Breakfast was ok but over priced Only 2 t bags in room for a couple and 1 bottle of water. Only 1 set of towels, when asked was told other set were in wardrobe,surely just leave them out
Richard (4/5): I stayed because it was the only availability in the area I was working in at that time. - Its a lovely building and location - it just seems to be tiring and maybe relying on the better times it has seen previously. Restaurant staff appeared inconsistent - I was served well, the couple next to me not so. On my previous stay my breakfast had blue roll under the food, I probably ate some but was discrete when I mentioned it to the team member, there was a mild apology and she rushed away to the kitchen with the plate. The room 209 was satisfactory - the shower tray flooded, which is a worry on the second floor I'd have thought. Housekeeping should invest in some Viakal for the bathroom silver work which just looked neglected. All the rooms are tired now, I've stayed there for many years for work purposes only.

Sue (8/5): Very pretty pub hotel and restaurant - Very nice hotel with a good pub and restaurant side. Easy to find with a car park at the back. My room was in a separate building away from the traffic. So very quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t as good as I expected. The plates were cold so the food became so quite quickly. Wasn’t clear that there would be a £10 charge for parking overnight.

Paul (10/5): A wonderful and historic period hotel, oozing with character! - A beautiful period inn in which Horatio Nelson himself used to stay! Fabulous period charm, the hotel adorned with wonderful period timber / beams and character of an age gone by! Nothing really -for the price I paid, I was happy! Perhaps a little updating is required in some areas. However, I’d definitely stay here again! Wonderful and a good high street too. Lots of pubs / shops. Staff happy and jovial - makes a difference!
