Guest Reviews
- Don (2/5): - This is a slum motel. Don't expect anything nice. Carpet in rooms was gross (very old worn out and super dirty) We had to wear our shoes. Beds haven't been replaced since the 90s.
- Amy (5/5): Cheap and on Route 66 - Cheap and on Route 66. Don’t expect anything fancy. It’s what I expect from a $50/night room. Definitely old and needs redone.
- Dave (5/5): Passable - It was on Rt66 No outlets to charge phones or other devices
- Chris (8/5): - The grounds, office, and room were clean and tidy.
- Lisa (6/5): - No continental breakfast. Room smelled
- June (8/5): Very good - Was great love waffles The floors were not clean
- Cyril (2/5): Very poor - Nothing Room was dirty torn curtains filthy torn carpet connecting door with unit in front ..guests arrived late and walls so thin we hear everything so poor night sleep ..paid for breakfast and got given box of cereal to get a bowl full and and milk ...no juice no coffee no toast.in dirty front office to eat it 🤬🤬
- Edward (10/5): - Quiet and safe. The motel manager and assistant were so help to me and other guests.
- Laurynas (10/5): Authentic motel at a perfect location! - This authentic motel has exceeded my expectations! Good price, perfect location and cozy room! Would definitely stay there again. There were few broken tiles in the bathroom floor, but I don't mind.
- Mary (4/5): - On line ad said breakfast was included, but breakfast was NOT included!! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!
- Alicia (8/5): - Very affordable! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Area is a bit worse for wear. Kinda sad to see happen to Route 66.
- Frank (6/5): What can you expect? - Ice machine broken, toilet didn’t drain after flush, wifi didn’t work as instructed. Cable good, bed comfy, cheap.
- Eileen (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (6/5): The room was clean. Shower was hot. and the TV worked. Overall a good deal. - They are pet friendly but they did charge an extra 7 dollars for my dog.
- Mark (6/5): - Bed was too soft, not firm enough for a good sleep, and saw some roaches on the floor.
- Sarah (10/5): Short and complicated as I had never been that far west in my life. - That bed was amazing. I slept like a rock.
- Satya (10/5): Exceptional - Hotel ambiance, best value for money
- Paula (1/5): Didn’t stay because I wasn’t comfortable with the place -
- Laurel (3/5): Poor - Room was okay for the price The internet access and the ice machine didn’t work
- Journey13407506730 (2/5): Stay Away!! - Roaches! Sagging beds! Filthy floors! Outdated rooms and bathrooms! Way overpriced for what you get.
I only stayed here because everyone else was either full, or over-priced.
The floors were sticky with pet urine.
I couldn't sleep on either mattress, they both sag horribly in the middle, need replacing.
I left after 3 hours, made for a very long, tiring day.
In my opinion, this place needs to be shut down.
Also, the wiring in the rooms is NOT up to code.
- Derek (10/5): - Staff was friendly the hotel was clean and I have no complaints overall very impressive very happy
- Dawson (7/5): Good - Very comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly. Upgraded is to a king because they didn't have any smoking rooms available.
- Douglas (2/5): Drive by this one! - We had a 4PM check in, we didn’t get there till about 6:30, they finished cleaning the room just before 7:00, but their was a guy who was doing something with the DirectTV, that required something to be reinstalled. He left at 8:30. So I would have to say that checkin didn’t go to well.
- Karen (4/5): Will not stay there again - Needed to be cleaner
- roger (4/5): - Poor mattress, carpet dirty, cockroaches friendly; however, for a 60 year old motel on the old highway 66, it worked for the price. Replace mattress and shampoo carpet and don’t use tiny soap and shampoo packages.
- Nicole (4/5): - No hot water! Construction materials blocking parking. Doors didn’t close properly. Staff was friendly though!
- MELISSA (2/5): - Do not go here. We paid ( no refunds) walked into a nightmare. Cords all over floor towels brown when should have been white, pulled blanket back and nothing but stains and pubes... Disgusting worst I've ever seen, and I've seen bad. We left. Dropped key in key box and took the hit and got another hotel room. That place needs to be shut down. Get someone over there to inspect
- Karen (6/5): - Felt was under par.
- Phillip (4/5): - The motel rooms should be gutted one at a time and remodeled. Needs a major up date.
- randy (2/5): - Looking for the Route 66 experience and picked a dive. Ruined the experience!!
- Carlos (6/5): Fine and great for the price. - Clean room close to places to eat. the room smelled like some kind of disinfectant.
- Sharon (4/5): Disappointing - Facilities need an update remodel
- Suzie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Seppe (8/5): Good for the money - I had everything I needed
- Mahmut (5/5): OK, except TV - Location being just off of the freeway Television doesn’t work in any of the rooms
- Seth (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hal (8/5): - Had Washer & Dryer for $1.50 each. Good Ice Machine in Laundry room. No Bed Bugs!
- Donald (2/5): - This place is very old and needs updating but that isn't even the issue Iam having. The room was dirty. It was suppose to be a non smoking room but smelled like smoke and pet urine. The carpet was extremely stained and there was dog hair on the bathroom floor. The tile in the bathroom was white so you could see it. If you didnt wear sandles the bottoms of your feet would get dirty from the carpet. I tried calling Hotels.com about issue. They called manager and sent him over to talk to me of which i didnt want. He would not refund my money and said i could go ahead and call police. Dont know why he threw that in the conversation when i never said I would call the police. Not a good experience in any way!!!!
- Dennis (10/5): - Incredibly helpful with a late night last minute reservation. Room was clean and overwhelmingly functional. Highly recommended.
- Barbara (9/5): My stay was wonderful-walk score of 99 - authentic vintage motor court directly on route 66 I loved the property as i was looking for an authentic motor court experience on my route 66 trip. The owner was very helpful and informative. If you're expecting a modern chain hotel you would probably be a bit disappointed.
- Alison (1/5): Bad - Room dirty, no breakfast AT ALL! Just nasty. Not worth the money, time or effort.
- Linda (8/5): - It was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Paul (3/5): We won't stay there again, even though the price was good - No good breakfast selections...only offered coffee, cereal and cinnamon buns The hotel was very old and outdated...carpet old and worn, tiles in bathroom were cracked.
- Carol (5/5): Passable -
- Charlessloper1 (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mario (2/5): - No good not recommend
- Jimmie (8/5): - Staff was very nice. But the property was old and in need of repair. The bed was extremely poor condition and needed to be updated
- Gregory (8/5): Good value for a budget option. - Very friendly and accommodating when car trouble led me to arrive a bit later than anticipated. Easy to find. All I needed was a clean bed and warm room and it came through just fine. Not really much for breakfast - I took a couple of rice crispy treats, but it's an ad hoc afterthought.
- Alex (8/5): - Very good place for the price. Standard amenities. Comfy bed and relatively clean room.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (4/5): - I didn't like anything about it. It was small and looked shady. I tried to cheak in and they sent me to different hotel. This one was bigger a lot better. But didn't have a name so bigger and better i mean from the 1st hotel. I was lucky to get a room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You get what you pay for…cheap and adequate
- Carol (4/5): - The male front desk was friendly and helpful. However, the motel is old and not equipped for electronic needs like accessible plugs and USB ports. In moving the bed to get to an outlet below the headboard, we uncovered lots of accumulated crime. It was easy enough to move the bed, so the area could have just as easily been cleaned regularly. Free breakfast was listed but not available citing outdated Covid protocols as their excuse.
- Douglas (1/5): won’t stay there again - friendly dirty
- Christie (8/5): I slept great - The parking was a little tight, but it worked. The guy that checked me in, wish i'd gotten his name, super nice and the next morning, when i was leaving, the lady was nice and asked that i have a good day! I slept great, I brought my own shampoo and conditioner, but a nice bathroom. Also, has a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker! :)
- Edwin (4/5): Stay in a chain. - Staff was very courteous. Took until morning to figure out the heater, so it was a cold night. Noisy from traffic, and sounds passing through walls. Wifi wasn't working.
- Alphonso (7/5): the staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable - location
drive-up to door heater did not heat the room.
large gap under door
- Naphtali (8/5): Very good -
- Skyla (5/5): Passable -
- Peter (8/5): Comfortable convenient Stopover - A quick stopover after a long drive . Motel room was clean and spacious . Check-in was simple and easy .
Highly recommend Nothing
- Raymond R. (2/5): - I will never stay there again
- Diane (5/5): Passable -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (2/5): Very poor -
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Glyn (5/5): Passable -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (7/5): Good -
- Erik (4/5): - After reserving the room on Expedia, the instructions were to pay at the motel. The motel charged more than the agreed price as shown by Expedia. The basic rate for the room was $38, the price as reserved by Expedia was $62, I don't know where the extra money went book directly. The carpet was stained, the sheets were stained, and the mattress was nearly broken. The towels were thin, small, and very cheap.
- Alicia (6/5): Dated and dinghy - Was an ok place to stay. We wanted to stay along route 66 and read that this place was alright. No bed bugs. Cheap. Dated and dingy. No continental breakfast.
- Linda (8/5): - This motel was really affordable and overall good place to stay. Looks a bit run down but it got the job done. The breakfast that was included was cereal.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for the price, but the breakfast... - Ok for the price, but Ice machine out of order and breakfast consisted of milk, one kind of Oatmeal and one kind of Cornflakes, which were unhygienically lying in an open package in the cupboard. You can't call that continental breakfast.
- PANIDA (6/5): - Very unclean, luckily I had flip flops to wear inside. My feet were so dirty the next morning in the shower they left dirt prints in the tub like that place base the been swept or vacuumed in a month.
- Judy (6/5): - It was out dated and appeared dirty even tho it seemed clean. Electrical sockets didn’t work for plugging in my curling iron. Also NO ice available!
- Jimmy (10/5): Very cute motel feel - Great stay for one night. Early check-in. Convenient fast professional staff. Helpful and polite.
- Nancy (10/5): - Clean, safe, friendly.
- Vickie (10/5): - A nice pet friendly place in downtown Tucumcari. Room was small but clean. This is one of the classic route 66 motels so it does show its age. Worth the price.
- ROBERTA (8/5): Cigarette burns on the sheets - Probably the worst room I’ve ever stayed in lol at least the front desk guy was cool and the bed was comfy despite the cigarette burns on the sheets 😂
- Mary (2/5): Will never stay here. - Thought this would be a cute place on Route 66 to stay. We checked in and 10 minutes later checked out. Very dirty, felt uneasy. Drove to Santa Rosa and stayed there.
- Marilee (6/5): - Route 66 original from the last unique. Manager excellent.
- Roxanne (6/5): - Stayed in room 103 at this definitely vintage motel. It wasn't fancy but had a bed and a shower. The room had a fridge, microwave and coffee(pot). The carpet was pretty stained. The bed was definitely aged; the shower was hot and the pressure decent. This is the first property I've stayed at in ages that had a tub mat. I usually sacrifice a hand towel since a shower slip and fall is my biggest fear. The shower insert had tons of storage, which I always appreciate. Woke up to only one decaf coffee so good thing I always bring backup. Property had an ice machine but it was empty. The towels had a gray tinge and should be bleached or replaced. Check out is 10AM - the first on this road trip.
It was the least expensive room of my month-long trip. Kudos to the manager for leaving a note asking me to stop by before I left because I had been charged twice.
The night cost $39.06, including a surcharge.
Grade: C
Would stay again? Yes, but knowing already what the place is like. Probably wouldn't recommend it though.
- SHARON (6/5): - Carpet was very dirty. With 2 cell phones, laptop, hearing aids to be plugged in and husband's sleep machine, there weren't enough plug-ins, and what they did have, was hanging along on the wall on a power strip so we couldn't reach it with the items we needed to charge. Breakfast was cereal and orange juice and we had to make our own coffee in our room. The attendants were very courteous though.
- Carl (8/5): - Very nice staff. Property can use a makeover but I like it.
- Laurel Lowell (10/5): - Clean room
- Bill (4/5): - torn carpet, much paint pealing off wood trim. frayed and stained bedding and bath towels and doors that would not close kicking. lots of roaches.
- Susan (10/5): - Simple, no frills, but clean and safe
- Verified traveler (4/5): - there was a fly in my bathroom
- William (6/5): - The property is ok. The room is very dusty.
- O321LEbenl (8/5): Americana is a Perfect Name - This is a budget motel, and an old Route 66 motel. The owner (who checked us in) was professional, polite, and interesting. This is a “mom & pop” type business, and the kind that we LOVE to support. You’re not paying $80 or more a night, so don’t expect shiny amenities, BUT the room will be clean, toilet, sink, shower, etc. will work. Although the old Route 66 in Tucumcari is showing her age, I never felt unsafe in anyway in the neighborhood. I’d happily stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I have stayed in other hotels in this price range and this is near the bottom of those in this price range. The manager was friendly/pleasant, but the property itself was run down and mattresses and linens were old
- Kendrick (8/5): - The hotel is an old Route 66 with character. The owner is a very friendly person.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - it was like the geto
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nasty - Gross. The bathroom has broken blinds , Tokyo was hugging the wall , bed cover had gross stains on it , bed felt like was falling apart , ac wasn’t clean and don’t recommended it plus we didn’t feel safe, creepy guy with door open all night playing music and wondering around and parking was so tight . I would of rather slept in car at rest area
- Andrea (6/5): Extreme budget quality - My reservation was useless because person checking me in didn't use it except for the price which I think she got wrong because she added an additional tax of $5 to it.
They are updating things but the carpet smelled moldy. The ice machine wasn't working.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the priceyou cant do any better… thumbs up
- James M (2/5): DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!!!! - It's a dump... We didn't stay because thank God we looked at the room first... My wife would have died from the smell due to asthma! The lady at the front desk had no clue we even had a reservation-- asked if I had a copy. Then she couldn't figure out what the reservation was for!!! We went to Motel Safari...
- Madeline (6/5): - It is definitely what we paid for. Check your mirrors. Pet fee is nice only $7. Friendly staff
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was not what was advertised, the breakfast was a guest bringing a home made breakfast burrito to our room. It was dry and tasteless and no other options. It was bad advertising, I only chose this motel because of the breakfast. The room was clean but in sad condition, bed was uncomfortable, tile on the floor by shower was incomplete missing an inch of tile, poor quality remodel construction. Plus I was over charged by $10 over what was advertised by a sign and double charged taxes on the price that was stated.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A simple, clean and reasonably priced motel. The staff is friendly and helpful. They made me feel like I was the only person that mattered. I plan to return.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - While I love old Route 6 motels and almost never leave bad reviews, this place was kind of awful and NOT as advertised. Old carpet, the A/C was falling apart, the TV cable only worked some of the time--it went in and out, and there is no longer free breakfast. The front desk staff did not have access to the internet for my reservation, and they only had 1 room left--and appear to have given away my room. I was able to take a hot bath and sleep in the bed (which was clean) after a long day--but the room was old, run-down, and I even felt like the carpet was dirty. If I wasn't so tired from driving 12 hours, I would have stayed anywhere else in this town--as there were a lot of motels in the same price range. I feel like she gave me the last room that they don't like to put anyone in, but since I already had a reservation email, she put me up.
