Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): A lovely traditional hotel near downtown Donaldsonville - The building is traditional and in a great location near the main street.
- Brent (3/5): - No comment No comment
- Lisa (10/5): Convenient location in the heart of town. - Lydia was very help with accommodating and early check in time and booking process.
- christel (7/5): -
- Russell (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Definitely will be back - Location was perfect. Area was quiet! Easy check in. The bar and restaurant was not open
- Valamas (10/5): Love this place and I would stay here again - Location and staff friendliness Floors creaked spookily
- Frederick (10/5): -
- Jane (8/5): Nice clean and comfortable room. - Comfortable bed and very clean.
- stephen (9/5): -
- Patton (5/5): - The room was clean. I loved the claw foot bathtub! No, one at front desk to greet me and no one there when I checked out.
- Leroy (8/5): -
- Ilyana (7/5): - L'emplacement, la tranquilité. Il manque un ascenseur, le sèche-cheveux ne fonctionnait pas.
- Mitchael (5/5): Over-all a decent discount room to stay in the area. - The staff were very polite and helpful. The building is somewhat historic and has been outfitted to house hotel rooms, which is a draw to the Inn on the River. Cleanliness, very little furniture in the room, very small. The room was very "bare-bones". The room floors could have been cleaner. Coffee in the downstairs lobby was available with the stay.
- John (2/5): - Nothing Too old, room extremely dusty, staff was no where to be seen.
- Daniel (10/5): Very historic - Love the area I wish they would restore the town. But was awesome to see all the old buildings was peaceful I’d recommend! .
- Monique (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (9/5): Very comfortable and staff excellent. - Lovely old fashioned room, with antique furniture. Bed very comfortable as were the chairs. Quirky bath/shower in bedroom. Very clean and staff very helpful and friendly.
We had lunch in the restaurant, which was very tasty.
- Catherine (5/5): Nice old building, needs some TLC - Great location. Bed was comfortable. Shower was nice. There was no staff at all, just a receipt at a vacant front desk and an emailed code to unlock the room.. The lobby had some old boxes stacked against the wall. The room had windows that were frosted and you couldn't see out. It was very run down and marginally clean.
- Dakota (10/5): peaceful, enjoyable, and comfortable - I enjoyed my stay. The staff was very friendly and my room was very clean. The bed was good to sleep in and the food at the cafe was good. I enjoyed the bench out front to watch the traffic go by and my walk to the levee. all was good.
- Holly (7/5): This was a decent value, but I'll stay somewhere else next trip - The food at Gaston's was really good. The room wasn't as clean as I would expect & it took hours for The AC in the room to cool down. After the first night, my room didn't have hot water - I took a very cold shower the second morning & reported it to the hotel. Around 6:00 pm, they told me they weren't able to fix it & offered to let me move to a different room, but I opted to just use the shower in the other room because I got in so late.
- Stephanie (6/5): The place has a lot of potential, but it needs a bit more TLC - Interesting style and concept behind it. For breakfast we can highly recommend the cafe around the corner. Great coffee and a great way to meet the locals! And the Grapevine Cafe is superb! Reservations are required
Donaldsonville is well located to explore some plantations The river „view“ is greatly exaggerated, the place felt somewhat deserted… and it was „Seafood Buffet“ night, the smell in the room was hardly bearable. For check out nobody was available.
- Lorenzo (8/5): Very nice wooden building - Room was very dusty, but the bedding and bathroom were otherwise clean. Room was fantastic, very pretty and old style. Very romantic. Bright lights on the outside point directly to the windows making the room fairly bright at night even with the blackout curtains. The room had very tall ceilings making the ventilation very nice. The room temperature was perfect. Lobby wasn't clean, but it was from dirt tracked in, not from food or trash, so not a huge deal. Overall we had a great stay. The issues were minor all things considered.
- Valamas (10/5): Love this spot it’s connected to a great restaurant - Location and staff They canceled breakfast
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional - The communication was excellent!!! I had issues that were addressed easily by the amazing staff.
- Cacee (5/5): Could have been cleaner. - Liked that a restaurant was connected. Location could have been better. There were what looked to be blood stains on the mattress cover and bed frame.
- Nicolas (8/5): Very good - Wonderful historical hotel! Beautiful hotel and the rooms were amazing!
- Morgana (6/5): Pretty chill. - It was a nice place, kind + helpful staff Only one side of the bed had a bedside table and an outlet, which was very annoying. Also, weak water pressure in the toilet.
- Nikita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeremy (8/5): Very good - Restaurant No breakfast
- Serge (8/5): Historical district - The historical district is more or less dead
They start renewing some places
- Yandle (9/5): We were here for the Fete Dieu du Mississippi. It made it very convenient for the trip to Convent. - Location, updated old building. Creeky floors, ac unit was hard to control.
- Sheree (7/5): Good -
- Ash (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet, restful The bed could have been softer
- Valamas (9/5): I’ll be back - Friendly service staff oriented with premium customer service Location and bed and breakfast feel
- Sheila (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (6/5): Not spectacular but clean and useful. - Staff helped with luggage upstairs on arrival . Shower good and rooms clean.
Coffee available downstairs in foyer.
Staff provided history walk brochure.
Good location for accessing riverside plantations (our criteria). Nearby 'Grapevine' good restaurant. We thought breakfast was available at connected restaurant but not so (and nowhere in town)
One room no window - rooms are essentially cubicles inbuilt into large old department store.
Queen bed had 'squeaky' plastic protector.
- Krystal (8/5): Very good - The space in the room. Stairs and food was expensive
- Robey (9/5): Great value for the price. - Historic. Clean. No elevator.
- Shana (5/5): Nice, but could use some tweaks - The location was great, and the style of the Inn is really nice. It's also connected to a restaurant, which is convenient and inexpensive. The food was also good. Wine is also available. Loved the old history of the building and the architecture. The building is a refurbished bank, with original hard woods. The lobby area was comfortable. Complimentary coffee and tea were available daily. It also looks like the owners are still updating the interior, which in time I'm sure will be an added value. No elevator, which is understandable due to the age of the building. The issue is that there are more than just a few stairs that must be navigated to get to the rooms. This is potentially dangerous as there was no real staff around to assist with luggage. Expect to carry your luggage up and down the wooden stairs. Staff/owners also lacked customer service. Pleasantries felt forced, and I did not feel welcomed upon entry. There was no window or light in my room, which would not have been as noticeable if there was decor in the room. The cleaning was subpar. My room had 4 bent wire hangers, and there was no chair or luggage rack. You will also need to pack a travel iron or steamer as there was no iron in the room.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (6/5): Pleasant - Quiet, coffee available anytime, beds comfortable, easy parking Disappointed that it is not "on the River" and also no elevator and the rooms are up a large flight of stairs
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- Karl (8/5): An easy going, comfortable and restful stay experience. - Its location in town.
Nearby walking trail.
History of the building.
Diner and bar immediately next door.
Comfortable bed.
Owner and staff very welcoming, hospitable and accommodating. Discovered on arrival that the room booked did not have a window and was fully enclosed with only artificial light and air con.
Nothing was stated on Booking.com about this.
This needs to be amended by Booking.com as it’s unfair that this could impact on the owners business which is not deserved.
- Patricia (5/5): An efficiency at best - Eventually, this little Inn will be a nice place to stay. but for now, it is in the process of being remodeled. There is no elevator, so you have to pack your luggage upstairs. The room was not comfortable. The bathroom has been remodeled nicely, although oddly as the wash up station is in the main room. There is no chair to sit down on. A big fridge and a very large dresser dominate the room--we used neither. The bed is not too comfortable. There was only one bedside table.
- Pearl (10/5): This is a very nicely hotel. The location and value was perfect. - This booking was for a friend of mine. He told me that he enjoyed himself immensely and the accommodations were fine. Nothing
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trenton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tausha (10/5): Had a wonderful time. Will definitely come back - The BBQ restaurant was awesome.
- Jerry (6/5): Inside hotel was good, outside was sad - Room size, bathroom Location, buildings all around were vacated and in decline
- Chris (6/5): pleasant enough - clean, comfortable beds. windowless room. considerable noise transmission from bar immediately below.
- Elaine (3/5): The room did not have a window - disappointing as not pointed out on Booking.com - the room was clean The room did not have a window
- Dat (9/5): Superb - Location, price and staff are always amazing. Need more water pressure
- Kelly (1/5): Do not stay here - Both the owner and her son are unfriendly and unprofessional. Upon discovering that our room was a cave with no windows, we offered to pay to upgrade at the additional price listed on Booking.com even though it was not disclosed in the description of room that there were no windows. They refused and only offered their inflated rack rate which would double the nightly cost even though they, admittedly, had 3 empty rooms with windows available. They wanted an additional $286 just so we could have a window in the room and stated that if we would have gone online and read the negative reviews, we would have known there were no windows. Apparently, it was our fault? We've never dealt with such rigid, antagonistic people in the service industry, and a little kindness and compromise would have gone a long way. We are not the type to leave reviews like this, but in this case it's deserved.
- Jale (7/5): Beautiful location out there, great service and value for money - Location is beautiful at the old abandoned center of the town, beautiful room! It wasn’t the cleanest, and the bathroom had nothing to set your things on
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josefine (4/5): Given that it was not a cheap hotel, I would have expected cleaner amenities and a window. - Good location and free coffee, nice historic building and good parking. Room without window, the restaurant was closed on both days during out stay, never encountered any staff (room key was left for us in an envelope). The corners and skirting boards of the room were quite dirty/dusty, and the shower did not have much water pressure. Other cafes and restaurants in Donaldsonville were also closed, so that the only options were fast food restaurants or long drives to other towns.
- Lundon (3/5): Poor -
- Susan (10/5): A gem of a hotel, super convenient for visiting the plantations along the river and with a fabulous BBQ restaurant attac -
- Viktor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judy (3/5): I would avoid this property. - Location It was dirty in the room.
- Jared (10/5): Great place to stay!!! - Clean, quiet, and ran by really good people! Love that they have a diner on the first floor. Makes it really easy to get a meal after work. The food is EXCELLENT too!!! Nothing!
- Yomie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcello (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kendra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (10/5): Excellent - Perfect stay for us for one night. Dont ask for much and it was quiet, comfortable and the check in lady was very nice. I went for a run in the evening and it seemed like a nice wee town too.
- Santos (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (9/5): It’s a nice, cozy place with really good food. - The restaurant has really good food. It’s a really nice place to stay. There was really nothing I didn’t like.
- Henrietta (10/5): Very friendly and professional staff - Location and Historical The beds were low without a box spring.
- Grant (9/5): Superb -
- Ruben (10/5): Friendly, affordable, great location - The Hotel has a great and friendly atmosphere. The owners are super friendly and food downstairs is amazing.
- Valamas (10/5): Great value and convenience if you’re visiting Dville stay here - Connected to best restaurant in the town I wanted room service for my meals ordered couldn’t get it
- Dana (5/5): Passable - Central location. City very run-down, most of the street where the accommodation is located is boarded-up buildings.
- Renee (9/5): Nice to be home - Owners and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Very responsive. Restaurant food always good. Didn't like not having windows for most rooms.
- Renee (9/5): Superb -
- Laurent (8/5): Nice Louisiana-style bedrooms in a quiet hotel on the downstream section of the Great River Road - A charming hotel in a perfect location to driving down the downstream section of the Great River Road and visit plantations along the way. Bedrooms are quiet and nicely arranged in a Louisiana style. There is a large parking place next to the hotel. Good food is served at the restaurant, and Gonzales offers a large choice of restaurants at a 30-min drive from the hotel. It's worth visiting the residential area with typical Louisiana-style houses nearby the hotel. -
- John (8/5): Very good -

1. I am a black female when I made my reservation the hotel manager lady canceled it so I went in to for a room the hotel manager said it didn’t have any rooms available but a room for $175.00 a night of course I was not going to get the room.
2. I made another reservation there same day about 15 minutes after she said there were no more available rooms but the one for $175.00 a night I made the reservations in my husband name for 2 nights and the rooms were $82 a night total 🟰 $166.00.
3. I did the reservation on online so no face reveal but the white guy receptionist and the white lady manager did get to see me stay there. Discriminated, Racism towards me and I would like my money back, my stay were very much uncomfortable 😣 Don’t judge black peoples because of the color of your skin. I was turned down my reservation was canceled and rate went up to $175.00 a night when they did have other availability but I was told to my face that there was no other available rooms. Give all customers equal opportunity don’t discriminate. I would like a refund!
