Views were stunning and lots of wildlife including emus, kangaroos, cockatoos, magpies. And rosellas 🖤 Extremely relaxing with board games and puzzles to relax by the fire with. Kitchen was fully equipped with basic coffee tea salt and pepper supplied.

Only 10 minute drive from Halls Gap town so easy to get to cafes, shops etc. can't think of anything we didn't like.

Man fühlt sich in der Zeit zurückversetzt und kann eine Vielzahl von Tieren direkt von der Terrasse beobachten. Wenn die Dämmerung eintritt, wirkt die Geräuschkulisse der Tiere, als befände man sich direkt im Dschungel. Das Blockhaus verfügt über alles, was man für einen Aufenthalt benötigt. Man sollte sich nur mit einigen Lebensmitten eindecken. Nichts

- BRULEZ-MARION (10/5): - We loved our night at the Pioneer Cottages! It is an amazing secluded place with nature and wildlife at your doorstep. Kangaroos, birds, chooks, deer, fox, all showed up during our 1 night stay. A delightful place to disconnect and reconnect with the essential. The hosts, Corinella and Andrew are lovely and very helpful. We had an issue with our car battery and in no time, Andrew fixed it. We will definitely come back next time we stop in the Grampians. Highly recommended 👌

- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is located in a most beautiful part of the Grampians. The large rolling paddock in front of the cabin was filled with kangaroos every morning. A few emus wandered past. It was uplifting to feel so close to nature. Five hens greeted us at the front door each morning. They would eat grapes from our hands. Several deer roamed around the cabin. The log fire was most cheerful with a plentiful supply of wood. The cottage is not artificial but is made from actual logs with occasional gaps. Close proximity to the Grampians zoo is a bonus.

We also greatly appreciated the effort of the hosts to assist guests in recycling and composting. This was the first time we had experienced this level of helpfulness from anywhere while travelling. - Honnie (9/5): A quiet, relaxing accommodation to rest up after a big day exploring. - We loved the location, the wildlife in the mornings and evenings, the chickens. The double beds were comfy. The accommodation had everything we needed and there was nothing I could suggest making it better. It is rustic, but comfy. The open fire was an added bonus during winter, and a wheelbarrow load was delivered each day for our evening fire. The host was super friendly and had great information when visiting the zoo. I also loved the newspaper wallpaper, it was wonderful to be able to read what prices were back in 1922! The only negative I could think of was that the bunk bed I slept in was a little hard, but I got used to it and after long days, I slept soundly.
- Boon (9/5): There were three of us and we agreed that we were very satisfied. - The property was the right distance from Halls Gap. We prefer a quiet experience. A 10-minute drive to Halls Gap and from there to walking opportunities was perfect as we could retire to our quiet spot when we wanted to. We enjoyed the short nature walk on the property. The property is close to Fallen Giants Vineyard, which was handy as we enjoy tastings. The fireplace and amply wood and kindling were good too. There are good views east and west for sunrise and sunset. Lots of roos and emus, which were fun. Two minor improvements would help a little. 1. Instructions on how to use the TV remotes. We worked it out, but it felt like hit and miss, Perhaps it might be too difficult to prepare some? 2. A short pointer on opening the chimney. We had already started a fire and couldn't look up the chimney to check and had to guess. We guessed wrong to start, which meant we got some smoke in the room before we rectified the situation. It was easy to fix, but we could have done it quicker with a sign to say how open and closed work.

We stayed here for the second time - this time with our family. We loved the cosy and beautifully furnished cottage, equipped with all you need to make your stay comfortable and nestled in superb, wild nature. We admired the visit of many kangaroos, emus, birds … who were literally at our doorstep, enjoyed the fabulous fireplace in the evening. What an unforgettable experience. We hope we can come back again soon. We can highly recommend this place. You will not regret it.

Short drive from Halls Gap and secluded enough for wildlife sightings. Scent of the fireplace. The bedroom in the loft is nice. Kitchen utensils could do with a face-lift (knives were blunt, perhaps have a knife sharpener?) Shower could be better separated from toilet space to avoid wet floors.

- Susan (10/5): The location, history & charm of this cottage and property is what drew us to book and the welcome we received, the - I chose this property due to it’s location, amenities and charm of the cottage as we were travelling with our Irish friends and wanting to give them a beautiful Australian experience. This is exactly what we got too. The kangaroos and emus were the perfect touch along with the open fire place, well appointed kitchen and lovely bedrooms in the mud brick pioneer cottage. We explored the beautiful property and felt very relaxed for our stay and our only sadness was that we weren’t staying longer due to our tight itinerary. Definitely somewhere to return to for a longer stay to explore more of this gorgeous region. Thank you, we just loved everything about this place. Absolutely nothing.

- Pullen (10/5): Relaxing bush stay away in comfort - Perfect bush setting and the cottages had charm and the property was immaculately clean. Fire place really nice too and trampoline perfect for kids. Also greeted by the free range chooks
