- Rett (8/5): Cute stay in nature but not the easiest bed to sleep in - The main shared area is a large and really cool “patio” space decorated in a historic Greek style under the trees with plenty of space to find your own personal area. The rooms felt like a cozy cabin. The area feels very cute and remote. To be honest the place was much farther than the beach than realized, fine for a short drive but I’m not sure it’s the best walk with cars on tight roads that can’t see you. also the bed was very hard.

I booked based on the high recommendations of other customers, but we were disappointed: rather hard bed and not made when we arrived (except for bottom sheet and pillows), no noise insulation (we can hear the neighbours talk and use the bathroom), very slow shower drainage, no washing machine in studio as advertised but 7€ for the wash. None of this a problem of course, but not as advertised.

- Almut (10/5): Eine wundervolle Unterkunft bei wahnsinnig netten Menschen - Es ist wirklich ein Paradies! Das Appartement ist geräumig, toll und liebevoll möbliert, sehr sauber und ruhig gelegen. Die Terrasse, der Garten und der Ausblick sind wunderschön. Zu Fuß erreicht man schnell den schönen Strand und die dortigen Tavernen. In der Nähe gibt es mehrere Wandermöglichkeiten (Gorge of the Dead, Pelekita Cave). Der Besitzer und sein Team sind unglaublich nett und hilfsbereit und tun alles, um den Aufenthalt unvergesslich zu machen. Wir sind sehr froh, diese Unterkunft gefunden zu haben und kommen sicher wieder. Es gab nichts zu kritisieren, alles war toll.

- Sascha (9/5): Toll zum Erholen und Entspannen - Sehr gut gefallen hat uns die gesamte Anlage, die wir von unserem letzten Aufenthalt erkennen. Auch das Willkommenspaket im Kühlschrank hat uns sehr erfreut. Alles insgesamt eine Top Location und ein klasse Service. Es wurden auch mehrfach die Handtücher gewechselt und das Apartment gereinigt. Vielen lieben Dank dafür! Was eher schwieriger war, war Kochen. Es fehlte an grundlegenden Kochutensilien. Statt einem Herd waren zwei Kochplatten vorhanden (deswegen auch keine 10 Punkte). Die Dusche ist sehr klein. Es gibt Mücken - Ein Moskitonetz wäre hier evtl. hilfreich. Ansonsten sehr empfehlenswert.

- Andrew (8/5): Traditional room in a great location. - A great location on the hill above Kato Zakros. Outside were hammocks, lots of chairs to gaze over the valley to the sea. Inside was very traditional (the clue is in the name...) with dark decor and collections of old farrier tools on the walls. Not like anywhere else we have stayed! Kitchen area and bathroom with the bathroom easily reached from the bed. A great night at the local taverna, recommended by our host, who was charming, and lovely views. The sea front restaurants are all lovely. Zakros and the mountains are a must-see.

If you are looking for some peace and quiet look no further, Kato Zakros and Stella's place are a hidden gem of Eastern Crete. Life flows differently there. Everything was good. Maybe the bed mattrace was a bit hard for our liking, but it's a very subjective thing.

- N.sergey (10/5): The best stay ever - I think up until now this was our best rent ever, loved everything - isolated location of the property, the garden with so many little beautiful details in it, many different places you can relax, sunbeds, variety of patio furniture, hammocks, it felt like even if this place is fully occupied with guests it can never feel crowded. One thing to mention which was a huge plus to us - cicadas! There are so many and they can be so loud at times that you can't hear yourself think, it's beautiful :) Aside from this, all the regular expectations are there - very clean, comfortable rooms, private parking. I regret I didn't take my whole vacation here, the pictures I saw online didn't transmit the amazingness of the place

- Hendrik (4/5): Beautiful facilities in the wrong location, without any staff; no bar, limited view - I like the lay-out, with separate rooms, each with their own terrace. They are beautifully built, a bit small but fine. The location is a bit too far out from the beach. There is no view, as the property is surrounded by high hedges and bushes. There is no reception on site, no bar, no staff (they are all in the other location, 2 km away). During our visit (mid july) there were hardly any other guests. So no guests, no staff, it was all rather weird.

- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - The property is one of the most beautiful I've ever stayed at. You walk out of your room and you're in a lush botanical garden, with sea views in the distance and the Gorge of the Dead behind you. The room is spacious and has a very nice bathroom. We greatly enjoyed the rooftop terraces and all of the different lounging options in the garden. We also hiked up the road that goes past the property to a beautiful overlook of the Gorge. You can smell all of the wild mountain herbs, which Stella's was kind enough to have in the room as well, for use. It's a beautiful and manageable walk down to the beach, passing the Gorge and lots of olive and fruit groves, as well as the ruins of a Minion palace.

So amazing garden architecture you might only find in Japan mountains. Also we loved the near beaches of Xerokampos area and the tasty food of the tavernas at Kato Zakros, And the shop at Zakros village is well supplied with local products. The bed in the studio fitted my body and we had a comfortable sleep.

- Susanne (10/5): Sehr empfehlenswert! Highly recommended! - Sehr gepflegte Anlage, wunderschöner Garten mit vielen verschiedenen Sitzgelegenheiten, Liegen und sogar einer Hängematte. Das Studio ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet, blitzsauber und mit angenehmen Matrazen und Insektengittern ausgestattet. In der Küche gab es eine Art Grundausstattung an Kaffee, Tee, Salz, Gewürzen etc. Frühstück ist zwar selbst zuzubereiten, aber man wird täglich mit frischem Brot und Gebäck bzw. Kuchen, Eiern und Obst etc versorgt. Ca 10 Minuten zu Fuß vom Strand entfernt, sehr ruhig, guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen, vor allem durch das Tal der Toten. Sehr schöner Meerblick von der Dachterrasse, ebenfalls mit Sitzgruppe. Die Gastgeberin und ihr Mann sind sehr umsichtig und um das Wohlbefinden ihrer Gäste bemüht. Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Haus - vielen herzlichen Dank an Stella!

- andrew (8/5): Pleasant accomodation located in lovely grounds. - Stella's traditional is about 10 minutes walk to the sea and local restaurants; it is also very convenient for walks in the Gorge of the Dead. The rooms are compact but functional with refrigerator etc. The grounds of the rooms are delightful, replete with lovely plants and decorative features. Each room has a veranda or you can eat in the grounds. Basic breakfast materials are provided and a larger kitchen area is provided for the use of guests. A swimming pool would be nice but the sea bathing is good

We had a great day and calm night and hiked the Zakros George in the morning. Stella was kind enough to drop us off at the start of the hike (she went on do errands) and we had the entire gorge to ourselves. Came back to see the palace. We enjoyed figs from the fruit tree and the breakfast was simple but delicious. Recommend. The road from Ioapetra was a beautiful drive to get out to a quiet East (end of Sept).
- George (10/5): A Quiet Oasis in which to Chill. - A lovely setting in a splendid garden 15 minutes walk from beach and it's half dozen friendly small tavernas. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was fine and the premises were tastefully adorned by artworks etc all made by Stella's skill full husband. Good setting for visiting the Dead's Gorge, Minonan Zakros Palace and a nice beach. We were made most welcome to this delightful accommodation in a lovely spot of the world.

- marmich (8/5): Peaceful and pleasant - We were pleasantly surprised by Stella apartments, together with Jannis retreat. The garden area is particularly attractive with many separate quiet areas for relaxation. Comfortable bed, good shower and clean rooms. The studios are self catering with basic provisions supplied for breakfast. Kato Zakros is a lovely quiet place with a good beach and enough tavernas for pleasant meals by the sea.
- BEATRICE (8/5): Site très calme où il fait bon vivre - Nous avons passé deux jours très agréables dans cet établissement avec un jardin luxuriant vraiment très sympa. Les petits restaurants de la plage sont peu onéreux, très bons et le personnel est très gentil.
