Guest Reviews
- Monika (8/5): we would love to come back some other time - Good location, Friendly and nice host. The garden could be a little cozier with better chairs and cushions for guests to enjoy the afternoon sun
- Bernhard (10/5): familiare, cordiale, competente -
- Kelly (10/5): Amazing Al Porto Di Lucca - Everything about Al Porto Di Lucca was excellent. The location is very close to the wall, the house is amazing and everywhere is so clean and the breakfast was amazing. Everyone was so kind and friendly. There wasn't anything that we didn't like!
- David (10/5): An elegant quiet centrally-located retreat with memorable breakfast - Breakfast was wonderful, kind staff and a beautiful quiet garden. So close to the station! Lovely touch of history. Can't find fault
- Isabel (10/5): It was delightful. - Very convenient location. Clean and comfortable with delicious breakfasts. All staff very helpful.
- Stacey (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful building, very homely. The breakfast was superb, so much food to fill you up until the evening. Francesco and his family were very welcoming. I would 100% recommend this property and would love to return. There wasn’t anything not to like!
- billarm (10/5): Home from home in an unspoilt medieval city. - Al Porto di Lucca is a beautiful old house with lots of character, situated just outside the city walls and close to the railway station. It is run by Francesco and his wife, Giovanna. The room is full of antique furniture, some of which is a little worn. The bathroom is modern with an excellent shower. Breakfast, always served by Giovanna, is superb - literally more that I could eat. It is served on the veranda overlooking the garden which made it feel as if it were situated in the country. Wi-Fi was excellent. Nothing. I would happily return.
- Clive (9/5): A quaint place with a lovely breakfast steps from the walked City of Lucca. - Great location! Short walk from train station and the Porta San Pietro entrance to the walked city of Lucca.
- Sabrina (10/5): Schönes, Stadtnahes B&B - Sehr gute Lage, freundlicher Empfang, die Betten bequem und ein tolles Frühstück .
- mirjam (9/5): - Lekker en verassend ontbijt. Met liefde klaargemaakt. Zowel zoete als hartige broodjes. En elke dag wat anders Niets
- Gert (8/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): Perfect for train travelers who like hearty breakfast. - Close to train. Very clean. Nice linens. Quiet. Exceptional breakfast. Furniture rickety, worn down.
- Francesco (8/5): -
- Melissa (9/5): - Accoglienza, posizione e colazione in veranda
- philippe jean-luc (10/5): - Très bon petit déjeuner
Merci pour ce bon séjour
- Federica (10/5): - Tutto
- Michele (10/5): Piacevole soggiorno in struttura a 2 passi dal centro storico perciò in zona tranquilla ma che data l’estrema vicinanza - Struttura veramente bella. Curata , dimora storica
- Mark (9/5): How to visit Lucca, park a car and sleep well. - A great position just a few minutes walt to the Porto St Pietro gate, across a footbridge over the railway. The car parking was fabulous as it was next to the property and easy to find. The house has been sympathetically renovated in keeping with it's original character although some chairs and paintings would benefit from repair and restoration. Our bedroom was very comfortable with a very comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. A kettle and drink making ingredients and some chocolate was a welcome benefit. There was no TV but the 15th century bed with a wonderful mattress and a great quilt more than made up for that and guaranteed a great nights sleep. The solid construction of the house and the lack of any other guests gave us a totally silent night. The bed linen was, I think Egyptian cotton or something similar and it was embroidered and very soft to touch, as were the sumptuous towels and bathroom floor mat. The vast walk in shower had an impressive rainfall head, but lacked a hose for directional cleansing. Breakfast was very good with a selection of bread, Croissant and Focaccia, jams and honey. We each had a dish of blueberries and a plain yoghurt with a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice (from the garden?). We much enjoyed a plate of excellent cured ham before being presented with some freshly baked flatbreads stuffed with cheese and ham and some gorgeous scrambled eggs. If you have problems with stairs, getting to the bedroom and crossing the footbridge might be an issue.
Parking zacieniony, wygodny i bezpieczny. Do Porta di San Pietro może 4 minuty. Nie mogłam lepiej trafić. Warto pobyć tu kilka dni, bez pośpiechu.
- Siegfried (10/5): -
- Sara (10/5): - Adorable room.
Very nice and welcoming owners.
Bed, bedsheets, towels outstanding.
Nice terrace.
Great breakfast.
Very close to the wall of Lucca.
Śniadanie podane w pięknym miejscu z widokiem na ogród,piękna porcelana,, świeże owoce i wyciskany sok, pyszna wędzona szynka, jajecznica i wiele innych pyszności.

- Nga (10/5): Such a great bed and breakfast. Perfect for our stay in Lucca. Great location with car parking available. Room was beaut - Property was beautiful and well appointed. Exceptionally comfy bed and rooms. Great location

- elizabeth (10/5): Excellent location& hospitality - Excellent location, 5 minute walk to the old town walls of Luca .
Great onsite parking
Room was gorgeous, lovely Italian villa with lovely old features . Excellent breakfasts . Friendly & relaxed hospitality.would definitely go back A fridge available either in our room or on the landing would be nice
- Robin (6/5): - We recently stayed here, September 2025, and here are our pros and cons.
Pro’s:
Great location to historic Lucca city, 5 minute walk.
Great rustic Italian atmosphere.
Delicious breakfast every morning.
Very clean room.
Con’s:
Very, very noisy. Traffic and barking dogs. Hard to sleep.
Even though there was a thermostat that said air conditioning it didn’t work. We had to sleep with the windows open which only enhanced the noise problem.
The website shows an open garden area which looks inviting, however there is no access for the guests.
Only area guests have is their room and a small balcony.
No television which might not be a big deal for everyone.
- Sergiy (10/5): Unique experience - Everything!!
It’s a unique experience! Already recommended to friends and family, definitely want to come back.
Beds are very comfortable
Air conditioning
Exceptional breakfast
Very beautiful house, decorations, garden
Communication and care

- Joe (10/5): Excellent location and accommodation - Excellent location for Lucca and the rest of Tuscany, train station is 3 minutes walk. Excellent spacious accommodation-great hosts Francesco and Giovanna always available for advice and general hospitality. Everything was perfect.
- Hugh (8/5): An excellent base to explore Lucca with very friendly hosts. - Francesco was very helpful in indicating that we could leave the car and our suitcases at the hotel before our room was ready. It was easy to find and Francesco helped us park the car. We were happy with our room which was spacious; unfortunately we had little time to enjoy the balcony. We did not spend a lot of time in the main part of the hotel, although our breakfast was very good and it was nice to talk to Giovanna before we left for the airport.
- SEMIH (10/5): Wonderful nine days with a group of five. - Warmth and friendliness of hosts Giovanna and Francesco; cleanliness of facilities; location; beautiful yard; well-kept eighteenth century house with rich personality; fresh and delicious breakfasts; an extremely pleasant experience altogether. Definitely nothing to complain about.
- Michael (10/5): Fabulous friendly welcoming hosts - Beautiful traditional family home in an excellent location 5 mins to city walls and train station. Good parking, excellent breakfast. Nothing
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Nicola (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - A comfortable stay of 4 nights. Lucca is a lovely, small city with a friendly atmosphere. This is a family (delightful hosts) run b&b in a great location near the station and 300 metres from the city walls.
- Russell (10/5): - B&B location is just outside of the old city walls, easy walk. Breakfast was very good. Hotel is in a 200 year old building but very well maintained. My only complaint is that the chairs in the room were very small. Staff was very nice and helpful. Highly recommend.
- Liz (8/5): Comfortable stay in Luca. - The owners and staff very really good. We had a big room with a balcony which was nice looking out on the garden. Great shower and lots hot water. Huge breakfasts, they keep bringing out food!
5 min walk from station and 5 min over rail bridge to the Old city. The front door is right on the road, so you have to watch for cars and bikes when stepping out onto the street.
- Helen (10/5): - Old world charm with modern conveniences. We had a balcony room overlooking the garden which we enjoyed. Breakfast excellent with hot choices. Luxurious bed linen and towels. Highly recommend.
- Per-christian (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice people
The bed was very soft and nice .
Everything was great
- Alexander (10/5): - Lovely room, clear communications, easy parking and very short walk into the center of Lucca, lovely owners and breakfast
- Chris (9/5): Very good B & B, excellent location and very good breakfasts. - Good location near the train station and just outside the Lucca city walls. Very friendly and helpful staff; very good breakfasts. Nice comfortable bed and good size bedroom looking over the garden. Not much to find wrong; although a softer pillow would have been nice.
- Barbara (7/5): Good - Contract first was very good and generous. The staff was very pleasant and helpful and the place was very clean. The only thing we really didn’t like was that there was no place to put our clothing a chest of drawers would’ve been very helpful.
- James (8/5): Very good -

- Evelyn (10/5): Very pleasant stay in Lucca - Beautiful house just outside the walls. Very quiet. Slept well. Fabulous breakfast. I really appreciated the mosquito screen. Could sleep with door to terrace open. Not their fault but I had trouble finding the property

- Jean (10/5): Would totally recommend this B & B - Everything was perfect, room , breakfast ,location and host
- Chang-Jo (10/5): - Clean room with antique furnitures and renovated washroom and a wonderful breakfast. A short walking distance to duomo and central town. If we visit Lucca again, we will return this place.

I have nothing to write
- Rosana (10/5): All was good ! - Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, good breakfast and perfect location to walk to Lucca or take the train to Pisa or elsewhere.
- Monica (10/5): - One of the best! We loved everything about it. Owners were nice and accommodating, and helped us with all the questions we had. Area is perfect, at walking distance from the walled city and the train station.
- Wayne (10/5): Perfect accommodation for exploring Lucca and nearby areas. - Location is excellent, just outside of a city gate. Breakfast was ample and made fresh. parking was adequate; they have three spaces. The view outside is of neat landscaping with fruit trees. It was quiet. We wanted to sleep with the window open but with no screens, we were concerned about mosquitoes. Nothing. Lucca is an enjoyable destination.
- Christopher (10/5): - Great location. Great hostess. Amazing breakfast.
- Patricia (8/5): Nice location good hosts good place to stay. - Breakfast was excellent. Fresh fruit and selections of pastries, yoghurt, eggs prosciutto. Area for guests to gather outside of their room could be explained.
- Arc (10/5): - Hosts were wonderful and thoughtful.
- Helfers (10/5): Excellent hosts, location and rooms. - Breakfast was outstanding every morning. Owners went above and beyond for guests by driving us to a restaurant location. No TV in room to stay updated on news etc.
- Charles (10/5): - Nice overall and a very good Breakfast.
- Carol (9/5): Superb - Location close to walled city of Lucca and close to train station. Excellent breakfast. Pillows and A/C
- Helen (8/5): A warm welcome to an historic house close to the centre of Lucca. - Ideal location just outside the city wall, a couple of minutes walk from the heart of all you'd want to see.
The house is full of history and character in many ways.
Our room was very clean and kept to a high standard throughout our stay.
Comfortable beds, which is always a good thing when you've been on your feet all day taking in the sites. If you're staying more than a couple of days you might find breakfast a little repetitive as it's virtually the same every day. Having said that, it is a lovely breakfast of fresh breads, fruit, cold meats and eggs.
We stayed in the room that I think was over the kitchen; at first I thought there was drilling happening early, 6ish, every day. We later thought it was part of breakfast being prepared - maybe oranges being juiced?
- Kathryn (8/5): Very good -
- alan (10/5): - This B&B was absolutely lovely and the owners were great. Wonderful breakfast in a very pretty room and very easy to get into Lucca and also easy to access the train.
- Joe (10/5): Best B and B by far - We stayed for 7 nights
Giovanna, Francesco and all the staff were so friendly helpful , nothing was too much trouble . They took time to ask us each day what our plans were and gave us lots of tips to make the day and stay our best holiday yet .
We will return . Thank you Nothing
- Jill (10/5): Excellence at every level, a beautiful B&B… - Absolutely beautiful B&B in a location close by Lucca train station.
Francesco was very friendly and welcoming and allowed us to leave our luggage there after check out. Our room was upgraded and we had a beautiful balcony. The bed was super comfy with great sheets and pillows, and the shower was exceptional… the breakfast prepared by Giovanna was absolutely delicious, we couldn’t recommend this B&B more highly! Nothing!
- Maria (8/5): Charming property just outside Lucca city center - Nice location right outside of the historic old city- just a 5-minute walk over the railroad bridge and you are at the front gate of Lucca. Room is kept in the older original state, but upkeep is good. Very nice garden in the back that you look at during breakfast. Price was a little high for the amenities. Luckily, there was one available parking place for us, as you are on a busy street outside. A/C in room was very nice during the summer heat wave we experienced. Higher price than some other properties. Location to the busy street, as you literally stepped into the bike lane when exiting the front door.
- Catriona (10/5): A gem perfectly placed in Lucca - What a wonderful place we were lucky enough to stay at! Placed just outside the city walls, thus avoiding the busy inner city walls, is a cosy and comfortable b&b. We had a great, spacious room with a lovely bathroom and a balcony overlooking a meticulous garden. The breakfast was by far the best we had in tuscany with fresh food served by the lovely owners, good coffee, fresh croissants, ham, scrambled eggs. Fantastic. Will 100% use next time we are in Lucca and will recommend to friends and family.
- Jeannine (9/5): Ideal location and comfortable stay just outside the walls of Lucca - Breakfast was brilliant. It was a proper, not a packaged breakfast; eggs, prosciutto, yoghurt, croissant and more.
The location couldn’t be bettered. You just had to cross a bridge over the railway and you were outside St Pietro gate.
The room was really cool (August , 36 degrees). And it was a lovely spacious room overlooking the garden with a huge bathroom.
And, we could easily park outside. There was nothing we didn’t like. Maybe a fridge in the room, but that’s a minor quibble.
- James (10/5): Charming hotel – a perfect base for Lucca - Charming hotel, beautifully decorated, in a perfect location just next to the city walls (and with parking). Our host was lovely and welcoming, and the breakfast superb. We will definitely return. Nothing!
- Gregory (7/5): Reasonably nice but expensive for what you get! - Location, room size, parking onsite, breakfast Lack of coffee in room, only herbal teas - very strange, host not overly engaging, bare minimum interaction, no TV in room, A/C barely adequate with hot temperatures.
- Olivia (10/5): Ideal base for a mini break to Lucca. - The breakfast was really great. I also wasn’t expecting a daily maid service for a BnB.
The staff were happy to offer recommendations too.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean close to all restaurants and trains No telly
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (9/5): Perfect stay, thank you - Everything is very well considered and hosts were very helpful and amicable.
- Rachel (10/5): Amazing! - So grateful for the hotel owners. Our other accommodations fell through surprisingly. I booked this BnB at 9pm same day on hotels.com and called the hotel right away to tell them we’d arrive in 30 minutes. They were a little bit surprised but totally accommodating. Everything went perfectly. Their hotel is beautiful and the breakfast was so wonderful. We had delicious coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice, plus all sorts of other treats. Thank you!
- Cindy (10/5): - Al Porto is extremely close and convenient to the pedestrian bridge that crosses the train tracks and takes you to the south gate of the old walled Lucca. There's also a 24 hour pharmacy very close for when you need that vacation day 5 Actifed! Giovanna provide us way more breakfast than we could eat each day, but the beds were the best part. We had several previous nights of poor sleeping on hard, flat beds at other B&Bs, but her sons are doctors of some sort and told her she needed Tempurpedic mattresses. It was so recuperative for us! Our only note was that there is no TV. We were hoping to watch the Palio at night, but we were able to get it on the iPad, so not a big deal.
Pretty easy to drive to, as far as Italian roads go, as well!
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruce (10/5): - A terrific place to stay. Comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Lucca is a wonderful place to visit and convenient for day trips to Pisa and Florence.
- Georgia (10/5): Exceptional - It felt like being at home!
- Moty (10/5): Highly recommended - Simple but very nice and clean place. Very nice hosts and great breakfast. Best location with parking near the old town Non
- Robert (10/5): If we return to Lucca in the future we would definitely like to stay here again. - My wife Christine and I have always wanted to visit Lucca and this property was on our list after reading other peoples reviews and we were not disappointed. We were made welcome by Francesco and Giovanna into their family home, a beautiful old villa full of charm and lovingly cared for. The exceptional breakfast of so many choices was a lovely surprise, all served to us in the lovely garden room. There is nothing to dislike about the property.
- Russell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Gaye (10/5): Exceptional - Rood was lovely, breakfasts were amazing. Would recommend to friends. Italian down the road was very good, for an evening meal. only recommendation, would be to have refillable shampoos in the bathroom, to reduce plastic waste.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - excellent room in a lovely old house. breakfast was amazing. host charming nothing
- Lorraine (7/5): Quirky, clean. - breakfast excellent, room was large and very clean whilst really close to the train station and city centre and all the sights and great restaurants its close (or backs onto) what we assumed was a depot or building site, therefore a lot of noise early in the morning (at weekends i presume its quiet). whilst a quirky, unusual place to stay, very old property full of history its probably not one i would return to as i think its expensive compared to other options.
- Raymond (10/5): - Great stay. Comfy bed and nice bathroom/shower. Awsome breakfast in lovely room overlooking the walled garden. Very convenient for old town Lucca as its just outside the city walls.
