A sleepy woman opened the door to me with complaints about why I wasn't looking for the owner. She helped me, so it was probably a person from the owner. The conditions in the room were poor. • 744lem (4/5): Not a Hotel - Only reason why I am giving it two stars is I read the review before I booked it. This is not a hotel. It does not have a reception area. The lady that took a photo of my ID gave me the key and left immediately. I booked a double/deluxe room and she gave me a single room. On the website it clearly stated that all single rooms were booked. I am not used to sleeping on single bed as I twist and turn in my sleep, therefore this was an inconvenience for me. The place was relatively clean.

It was very overpriced for what it was; there were damaged fixtures in the room (the bathroom door handle was faulty and falling off, and the basin plug was stuck) and the fan rattled. It needed a really good clean - the grouting in the bathroom was filthy, the surfaces were dusty, there was dirt on the walls and the visible cabling connected the TV was caked in dust. It also wasn’t soundproofed rooms as advertised; I stayed right next to the food area and could hear a pin drop in there. I was woken up early each night. I think it needs a full refurbishment. A real disappointment.

After an hour of waiting outside the door, I had to book another nearby hotel. Later I filed a complaint but the hotel did not accept their fault and no to refund given for the booking. A team with no dignity or self respect.Think twice before you book in this property.

• stevegV1537FS (2/5): Terrible experience with Hotel Bolognese - My experience with Hotel Bolognese (Via Palestro 15, 00185 Rome Italy) was awful. It was a nightmare and the most terrible experience I have ever had with hotels around the world. I lived there for four nights. The hotel was very noisy during the days and nights (see the attached pictures for the measured noise level in the room). You will not sleep well in this noisy room. The owners are very unfriendly and aggressive. The breakfast was really bad. The owners are immoral. They tried to maximize their profit by providing very small amount of food and expired cooked eggs in the breakfast. They didn’t arrange the bed sheets in my room (I attached a picture to show my bed sheets when I returned to the hotel at 6PM. It was exactly the same as I left the hotel in the morning). Also, to maximize their profit, they required me to pay the city tax by cash and didn’t allow card payment. Try to avoid this terrible hotel!

I went on calling them over phone and went on pressing door bells but nobody opened the door and attended calls. There was no staff, no attendance. Its a family run business and not a hotel. You dont get anybody. The room can accommodate only a bed of the size of a train or bus sleeper berth. This is an extremely poor property and mischievous.

• Hugo (10/5): Une pension de famille très accueillante ! - L’hôtel Bolognese est une sorte de petite pension de famille très agréable. Le confort est simple et les chambres sont basiques mais on n’a pas besoin de plus lorsque l’on utilise la chambre uniquement pour dormir, le reste du temps étant consacré à visiter et découvrir la ville. Et lorsqu’on regarde le prix de la chambre, c’est très satisfaisant. Les patrons de cet hôtel sont adorables et réellement à l’écoute des clients. Je recommande cet hôtel à tous ceux qui souhaitent une chambre propre, sans artifices et une équipe (un couple charmant) à l’écoute. Je reviendrai à l’hôte Bolognese lors de mon prochain séjour à Rome ! Le quartier est idéal. À quelques minutes à pieds de la gare de Termini et proche du centre historique de Rome. Le quartier est tranquille et la rue sécurisée par les nombreuses ambassades qui s’y trouvent. À partir de l’hôtel Bolognese, vous pouvez visiter tout Rome à pieds! Ou en transport, nombreux dans le coin.

Motor bikes were parked in the courtyard late at night & naturally families had guess & talked. I suspected that the blankets & bed quilt were not clean between guess. The noise from the courtyard continued until the early hours of the morning

Owner/receptionist started creating problems on the phone since I ended up arriving after midnight due to a two-hour delayed flight into Fiumicino Airport despite the 'hotel' being advertised as having a 24/7 reception. Owner/receptionist wasn't so reassuring on the phone at guaranteeing someone would welcome me at my arrival at the 'hotel'. Came back to me with an answer through an email while travelling into city centre. No breakfast was provided as advertised. Indoor furniture/doors lacking locks/fittings.

• Juraj (7/5): Ok for low budget travelers , don’t expect too much. - I liked the location . Don’t think pictures correspond with the reality . Actually absence of anyone at the reception, it’s hard to rate facilities (there was a TV) or staff - haven’t seen anyone . The room itself was alright - small , but it’s what you pay for with Roman prices I guess.
