Guest Reviews
- Bill (10/5): Daisy trip - Wrong remote for TV. GETTING HOT WATER IN SINK WAS TRICKY!! But OK stay!!
- raymond (6/5): - small refrigerator with small freezer was better than average; office hours and morning coffee inconvenient
- Rubina B (10/5): - We stayed here for one night on our way to Yellowstone NP. The property was clean and reasonable for night stay. Received instructions for self checkIn and ot was very smooth. Overall good experience.
- Mike S. (10/5): - The managers are wonderful and very helpful. The building is showing its age, but the price was worth it. Excellent location
- Dennis (8/5): - Convenient and affordably priced
- Dennis (8/5): - Pleasant staff and clean rooms
- Bob (10/5): - Very friendly day clerk. Clean and affordable.
- Lyle (4/5): - Bathroom faucet sprayed water allover when turned on. Bathroom fan dirty and made terrible noise, couldn't use. Smoke detector was setting behind tv and looked broken. Window curtains covered up the fan on AC unit.
The bed was great got a good nights sleep.
- David S (8/5): - Bathroom floor tile broken and missing pieces.Window Curtains too long and cover AC unit.
- Kimberly (2/5): - As a single woman traveling alone I did not feel safe
- Jennifer (6/5): - You get what you pay for with quality of rooms and beds. Fine for a single night stay on our way home from a long road trip. Staff are very kind and helpful; some of the best we encountered.
- Nicolas (6/5): - Old fashioned key entry, key didn't work in dead bolt, and deadbolt barely closed from inside.
Toilet kept "flowing" so bowl would "fill" itself about every 30 sec to a min (very loudly).
Hot water was very difficult to find in shower, and temp was barely above warm as it was, and kept going cold every time toilet "filled" itself.
- Tatijana (8/5): - The hotel itself was a little dated, and google maps took me to the wrong spot, but once that was cleared up, it was good. The pillows were a little flat for my tastes, but I also blame myself for that since I know I am really particular about pillows and forgot to bring my own from home. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My only big gripe was that the hot water took quite a while to get warm when the shower is first turned on. The AC was cool and worked well which was good since the high was in the 90s for the weekend I was there.
- Christine (8/5): - Very outdated. They use regular keys instead of card keys. The room itself is clean and nice but when I pulled up I thought I was back in the 70s. Front desk clerk was awesome
- Laura (2/5): - It was dirty, hot, and muggy
- Roger (4/5): - old property
- Michael (10/5): - We have stayed here 2 times on our trips from Utah to Montana. It is the perfect halfway point! The rooms were large and quite comfortable. Their prices were lower than other motels on the same street. Everything was clean and all the beading (blankets, sheets and quilts were brand new. We will continue to stay here on our travels north!
- Michael (10/5): - The gentleman who checked us in was kind and polite. He had a great sense of humor and he held a ground floor room for us just as I requested when I made the booking. Che k in could t have been easier.
- Patsy (6/5): - nice friendly staff.
- Sally (6/5): - No hot water. Run down.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Only complaint is the room was on ground level and the curtains were so thin when the lights were on you could see in from outside. We had to hang a blanket over the window for privacy.
- Dean (10/5): - Read reviews before i arrived. Some good, some not so much. My opinion is that a good review is correct. Nice people, clean room. Good location. Everybody sees the world differently. I was pleased with this motel.
- Rhonda (6/5): Check their beds!! - We stayed at Thu derbird twice this summer (2023). The staff, and their rooms' overall condition, were fine...but we had to request "to be given another room" on each occasion because the beds were in such POOR condition. The beds in the second rooms were fine.
- Paul (10/5): - Good value, pleasant receptionist, very clean.
- Harry (8/5): - Our room was quite clean and comfortable. The shower offered plenty of hot water. The wall-mounted airco unit appeared to be new-ish, and it worked very well. But as is so common, it was rather loud during the night.
Overall, we would certainly stay at The Thunderbird, again.
- Mike (8/5): - Room smells old. Desk clerk is wonderful
- Lorraine (10/5): - I had a very hard time finding it despite using google maps, but had a very good check-in once I got here. The floor is a bit dirty, and there were a few ants, but everything else was just what I needed.
- Patricia Joseph (8/5): - Room was very clean. Price was very reasonable. Parking was a little tight, but it’s doable. We will return !
- James (6/5): - The room was clean and the staff was great. The shower did not keep a constant temperature and alternated temperatures from freezing to scalding.
- Shirley (10/5): - Very nice lady-Shantel in office.
- Travis (6/5): - I liked that it was a historical hotel in the area.
I didn't like that parking was tight, the professionalism of the staff was lacking. The in room coffee pot was not there. There wasn't a place to hang a hand towel. There wasn't any slip resistant mat for the tub. The deadbolt didn't work properly. The office was not open early enough to drop the key off to anyone, just a drop box.
Because of the safety issues, I don't think we'll stay here again.
- Tifany (10/5): - I appreciate how accessible it is from the interstate heading east from the west. Directions are clear with the help of my phone. Hotel is well run, from my personal call to register me before the office closed for the evening to the personal connection to the housekeeper who left a survey as well.
I had a king size bed all too myself. I doubled up the quilt to get the desired rest I needed for the night. I am very satisfied with my choice to stay here.
- Lakia (6/5): - Was clean. Property is showing sign of deterioration. Nothing fancy here, just the basics.
- William (2/5): - A real disappointment!
- Joel (2/5): - It is basically a homeless village. Sad to see.
- Michael (8/5): - Property was good. But there seem to be some guests who leave a ton of crap outside their rooms. BBQs. Chairs. Hamster cages. Also lots of smoking outside rooms which is lousy.
- Larry (4/5): - No coffee makers in room & lobby coffee was not available until 10am. Bathroom toilet ran all night of & on. No place to put suitcases except on the floor & this was in an upgraded room. Bed was ok.
- Linda (8/5): - This was a quaint locally owned motel. Was clean and simple. Was nice for a place to stay overnight.
- Christopher (2/5): Sucked - Not so good. No heater in 30 degree temps. People above stomping around all hours of the night. Hardly got any sleep after driving 10 plus hours. Sink was dripping all night.
- Anna (2/5): - Dead bolt on door didnt work, curtains torn, carpet buckled and sticky, toilet did not flush, sink sprays water everywhere, smelled smokey and the front of the air conditioner was missing.
- Travis Melvin (2/5): - It was supposed to be $67.80. But we did have a small dog that we called ahead about and was told it was $10 dollars extra (We also looked it up on Thunderbirds website). When we got here they changed it to $15 extra for a pet. So they gave me a receipt showing I paid 82.80. When I checked my credit card showed Robinson Hospitality had taken out $99.00. We spoke with the front desk and they said to call our credit card company. We did and the card company (Visa) said yeah Robinson Hospitality took out $99.00. My room rate should have been 77.80. So basically Robinson Hospitality stole $22.00 from me. Then we get to our room and the chair is covered in sunflower seed shells there is a Jolly Rancher candy stuck to the blanket of one of the beds the television set on a dresser that was shorter than the bed making it impossible to watch from the bed there was no heat not even a real heat light in the bathroom and to top it off some people checked in late directly above our room and were up all night being extremely loud. Apparently there are people that live full time in the hotel because kids were riding bikes all over in the parking lot making it extremely difficult to back your vehicle out or anything. Just a bad experience and horrible first impression when you get stolen from in the beginning. Of course they left a note telling us to be sure and tip house keeping. What a joke. Oh and the small bible in the room had a pentagram drawn on it and Lucifer written across it.
- Lisett (10/5): - It was great. Thank you
- Timothy (2/5): Very poor - Very poor services tv didnt works their was dog poop everywhere will not be stayed their again
- Solomon (2/5): - They have a list of things and priced if you steal or brake anything 🤔 i wonder if this is why they dont give out extra towels .. if your staying more than one day or you have more than two guest ask about extra towels...customer service dealings were good just rules about extra towels
- Gail (2/5): - This property has remodeled supplies in the parking lot. Half of the motel is month to month housing. It is dirty, unsafe, and we felt like we barely got out without being robbed or overcharged.
- Cynthia (2/5): - I did not stay here and I hope you're not going to try to charge me for it because I left and I did not let them run my card it was the rooms were clean but there were people running around all over outside single women are not staying in a place where there are a bunch of men running around outside without shirts sitting out in front of their rooms drinking and smoking.
- Scott (2/5): - Only stay here if you absolutely have to because you have no room to sleep in your car. I've stayed in other hotels in Pocatello and this is easily the worst. Definitely got the feeling that my car would have been broken into overnight. Such a bad spot that I ate the fee I paid and found another hotel later in the night. It's not a well maintained property by any means. Graffiti all around. Ghetto like in a movie. The positive reviews have got to be fake. Incidentally, it is appropriately located across the street from a cemetery. The staff was the only acceptable part of this place. They were nice.
- Deron (10/5): - Did not realize there was an early check but called in advance and they were very helpful at still getting us in comfortably. Did not feel like they were put out at all.
- Michael (8/5): Good - Good room at a decent price
- Dani (6/5): - Needs lots of work. Holes in walls shower looked filthy windows have no screens and do not lock
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The AC and the fridge did not work. The room smelled horrible and there was a used cigarette on the closet shelf and burned holes in the blanket and bedspread. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room. The drapes were worn out and should have been thrown out years ago.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was completely unsatisfied with the accommodations. My key wouldn't work, no batteries for the tv remote and the website showed a pool. There was no pool.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Drug bust going on while I was there. Linens frayed with holes. Bathroom dirty, had to reclean.
- christopher (4/5): My last time at this hotel - Room smelled like an ashtray. The carpet had cigarette burns in numerous places. The shower mat was stained and rather unsightly.
- Rickie (6/5): - Nothing it was a lame ass stay
And prob won't stay afain
- Shauja (4/5): - No hot water when we took shower in the morning or at night. Cigarettes burns on sheets & found some weird lookin bugs in the bed. Heater didnt work that well at all. I know i wont be staying here again. Was real disappointed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location - average cleanliness & friendly staff.
- Lisa (8/5): - Didnt find anything. It was an ok visit. Asked for non smoking and got non smoking but it still smelled like smokers had been in it.
- Doris (2/5): Good rate, LowLife feel. Too bad. Don’t recommend. - A ghetto feeling. Traffic noise, tweaker activity (suspected drug ? Activity) & lots of foot-traffic all-night above, The carpet was filthy & fleas in the sink. Flushed the sink but they were back soon after again.Room just felt grungy & smelled of urine. Cigarette burn holes in drapery & bedspreads. Would not recommend .
- Shel (6/5): OK in Pocatello - This motel was OK, but it seems like people live there permanently and they loud well in to the night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Unable to cancel reservation. Property did not return phone call of email.
- christine (4/5): - Guess you get what you pay for!
- Verified traveler (4/5): It was cheap, came with a parking lot party... - It was a cheap place to stay the night before the half marathon, but the curtains were half hanging off the window, both sink and shower didn't drain properly, the toliet handle had to be pulled back up to stop running, and although it was a non-smoking room it had strong smell.
The neighbors next door had barking dogs, and were bbq'ing in the back of a truck right in front of our window, which was a little different.
Front desk was friendly, beds weren't bad, and we were close to the brewery, so bonus points there!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was questionable. The bathroom was not clean. I could hear everything the people above me where doing and I mean everything, the bed was a squeaking all night as they were enjoying themselves. I will not be staying here again.
- Peter F (2/5): Never again. - Lights, wyfi didn't work. No ice. Smoke in room. Office of no assistance. Had to leave at 4am. Refund money
- Bruce (10/5): - Great place and staff , thank you. Enjoyed my stay, was there on work got in late. Staff was very friendly, coffee was hot in the morning
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent Facilities, Great Staff - The clientele was typical of a motel, but the staff did a great job maintaining the facilities available to them.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice room, very clean, well stocked. Bed was a little firm for us. Good location for us traveling.
- Daren (2/5): Dont book. Look eleswhere - Arrived 2200 hrs, checked in and informed no ice available, and no coffee in non smoking room.
Room lights did not work and very strong putrid awful smell of smoke in room. Bathtub faucet did not work. Only trickle of cold water!
Beds (×2) well past service, saggy no support and can feel springs. Worst was the smell.
Loud with outside guest noise all night long.
No parking, told to park across busy main street and carry luggage in from there.
All clothes in luggage permeated with horrible stink and smoke smell in just 8 hours of being in room. YUCK!
We will NEVER be back and I suggest spending a little bit more and booking elsewhere to avoid this very old and run down hotel.
Summary: Stink and heavy smoke smell, room lights and shower/tub don't work, beds very old no support feel springs bad smell, no parking, no amenities like ice or coffee. SUGGEST BOOKING ELSEWHERE. AVOID THIS HOTEL!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Room and Neighbors - Room was not clean and shelf had dirty items on it. Hole in the bathroom door. Neighbors kept us awake with dogs barking and 2 different instances of loud fighting. People above us had a dog that ran all over all night long.
- Nathan (10/5): Thank you!!! - They were so welcome and accommodating. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
- Merle (8/5): Great value! - Clean, safe, quick stop.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful place! - This place was awful. We arrived at 6:30pm and the room was not even ready. We had to stand in the parking lot for 10 minutes waiting for the room. Then it was very apparent that the hotel is a place that rents the rooms on a monthly basis. We did not feel safe at all. This place is nothing like the review listed here. We will never stay here again.
- Dave (6/5): Not in the best condition - The hotel is really in need of repairs. Not in good condition.
